If the coefficients of a polynomial depend on uncertainty parameter then a polynomial family is under consideration [1,4]. In many stability problems the investigation of pure imaginary roots for a polynomial family is very important. Given a pure imaginary complex number, the set of all images of uncertainty vectors is called the value set corresponding to this pure imaginary complex number. The question whether these sets contain the origin is very important from robust stability point of view of a polynomial family. Cutoff frequency guarantees the noninclusion of the origin to the value set for large frequencies. In this paper we give a procedure for more strict estimation of cutoff frequency and applications the obtained result to the constant inertia problem of polynomial family., Bir polinomun katsayıları belirsiz parametrelere bağlı olduğunda bir polinom ailesi söz konusu olur [1,4]. Pek çok kararlılık probleminde, polinom ailesinin pür imajiner köklerinin araştırılması oldukça önemlidir. Pür imajiner bir kompleks sayı verildiğinde, belirsizlik vektörlerinin görüntülerinin kümesi bu kompleks sayıya karşılık gelen değer kümesi olarak adlandırılır. Değer kümelerinin orijini kapsayıp kapsamadığı sorusu, polinom ailesinin gürbüz kararlılığı açısından çok önemlidir. Kesme frekansı, daha büyük frekanslar için değer kümesinin orijini içermemesini garanti eder. Bu çalışmada, kesme frekansını daha iyi belirlemek için bir prosedür verilmiştir ve elde edilen sonuçlar polinom ailesinin sabit inerşiya problemine uygulanmıştır.

This problem is related to the common quadratic Lyapunov function problem and one of the way to solve it is LMI (Linear Matrix Inequalities) approach. On the other hand this approach requires a huge number of parameters and is not effective when the number of subsystems and matrix dimensions increase. In this paper we give alternative methods for testing stability of switched systems. These methods are based on the convexity property of the maximum eigenvalue function of symmetric matrices.

Using the known properties of the Schur stability region of monic polynomials, we give conditions under which stabilising controllers exist. A necessary and sufficient condition is obtained when the difference of the order of the system and the number of stabilising parameters is one. In the general case, two solution algorithms: division-elimination and least-square minimisation algorithms are suggested.

Firstly, a multilinear map from the positive first octant of the cartesian coordinate system to the stability region is defined. Based on this map a necessary and sufficient condition for stability is obtained. Starting from stable points, polytopes with infinite edge lengths are defined. Stability of the edges of these polytopes is equivalent to the stability of the convex combinations of third and fourth order factor polynomials. If all edges of polytope are stable then by the edge theorem the polytope is robust stable. It is shown that in the continuous case the problem can be reduced to positivity of two specially constructed multivariable polynomials, whereas in the discrete-time case it is required three polynomials. WOS: 000453520500027, For single-input single-output discrete-time systems, we consider a stabilization problem by a fixed order controller. A number of examples show that such controller may not exist. It is assumed that the controller depends linearly on a stabilizing parameter. In this case, the stabilizing controller defines an affine subset in the parameter space. We use the well-known property of the Schur stability region in the parameter space. According to this property the closed convex hull of this region is a polytope with known vertices. Every stable vector has a preimage in the open cube (-1,1)(n), and this preimage is called the reflection coefficient of this stable polynomial. By using reflection coefficients and polytopic properties of the stability region we obtain the stabilizability condition. This condition is expressed in terms of vertices of the stability region which is a multilinear image of the cube of reflection coefficients.

We investigate the existence and evaluation of a common diagonal solution to the Lyapunov and Stein matrix inequalities for third order interval systems. We show that these problems are equivalent to minimax problem with polynomial goal functions. We suggest an interesting approach to solve the corresponding game problems. Hurwitz and Schur cases are considered separately. One necessary and sufficient condition is given for n × n interval family of Z-matrices. The obtained results also give diagonal solution in the case of existence.

If the characteristic polynomial of a discrete-Time system has all its roots in the open unit disc of the complex plane, the system is called Schur stable. In this paper, the Schur stabilization problem of closed loop discrete-Time system by affine compensator is considered. For this purpose, the distance function between the Schur stability region and the affine controller subset is investigated.

Kenar teoreminin geçerli olduğu özel bir matrisler politopu incelenmiştir. Multilineer polinomlar ailesinin gürbüz kararlılığı için yeter koşul veren dönüşüm teoremi (Mapping Theorem) ele alınmış ve ailenin değer kümesine göre dönüşüm teoreminin gerek ve yeter koşulu da verdiği özel bir durum incelenmiştir. İki parametreli multilineer polinomlar ailesinin kararlılığı araştırılmıştır. Belirsiz parametre sayısının düşük olduğu multilineer polinomlar ailesinin kararlılık testi için verimli olabilecek bir yöntemden bahsedilmiştir. Bu yöntemle polinom denklem sistemlerinin kutu üzerinde çözümünün olup olmadığı incelenebilir. Ele alınan multilineer polinomlar ailesi gürbüz kararlı ise bu yöntem sonlu adımda sonuç vermektedir. Verilen teoremlerle ilgili örnekler incelenmiştir.

In this note an algorithm for testing on stability-unstability of polynomial segments with stable end-points is given. The algorithm is based on well-known segment lemma and on approximate positive real roots of suitable polynomial equation. In this paper an upper bound for absolute error of approximate root that guarantees the segment stability or unstability is established. In the case of unstability the algorithm, differs from the existing algorithms, explains the segment behavior in the parameter space. Some illustrative examples also are given.
