Climate change refers to significant changes in global temperature, precipitation, and wind patterns. Climate change hasa serious impact on the natural resources available on the earth. Climate change adversely affects human health and quality of life. A majority of the population depends on agriculture directly or indirectly and it is more vulnerable to climate change. To mitigate the adverse effects of climate change, climate-resilient agriculture has become a boon to the farmers in areas that are vulnerable to climatic effects like drought, floods, etc., National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA), is a project launched by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) with the aim to enhance the resilience of Indian agriculture to climate change and climate variability through strategic research and technology demonstrations. Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) is the main implementing agency of NICRA. With the help of KVKs, the interventions of NICRA were accessible throughout the country. The present study was conducted in the Nalgonda district and Khammam district of Telangana. The ex-post-facto research design was used for the study. A sample of 120 respondents from NICRA implemented villages and 60 farmers from non-NICRA implemented villages were selected randomly for the study. The major problems in the adoption of CRA technologies were limited knowledge of CRA technologies (91.66%) followed by inadequate trainings regarding climate-resilient practices (90.00%),inadequate weather based agro advisory services (88.33%), limited outreach of extension services about climate-resilient technologies to (76.66%), non -availability of required implements in custom hiring centres at the time of heavy demand (73.33%), etc., In case of non-NICRA implemented villages, the major problems faced by the respondents were lack of confidence among the farmers to adopt the new CRA technologies due to the fear of failure (93.33%), lack of awareness on climate-resilient technologies among non-NICRA farmers (90.00%), Difficulty in the understanding of CRA technology (86.67%), adoption of CRA technologies demand more resources like water, labour and money (83.33%), less number of need-based training on CRA technologies (75.00%), lack of access to improved crop varieties and other inputs (70.00%), etc.

Agriculture wastes are the residuals from the growing agriculture crops horticulture and livestock. This paper focused on study on level of awareness of the respondents about agri waste management practices and its relationship with the profile of the farmers.. The Ex-post facto research design was adopted for the study. Thus a total of 120 respondents were selected by following simple random sampling method covering Medak district of Telangana state. From the analysis,it was found that majority of the farmers (55.00%) had high level of awareness, followed by medium (27.50%), and low (17.50%) level of awareness about agri waste management practices. From the analysis, it was found that infrastructure facilities and achievement motivation had positive and significant relationship with awareness at one percent level of significance. The variables age, education, farm size, farming experience, cropping pattern, innovativeness, information seeking behavior and training undergone had positive and significant relationship with awareness at five per cent level of significance. However cropping intensity and level of aspiration had positive and non-significant relationship with level of awareness about agri waste management practices. Government should provide subsidy on the purchase of machinery, special programmes need be to taken to improve awareness about agri waste management and encourage custom hiring centers to reach high cost technologies to the farners. Agri waste based communities need to be developed at ground level for the adoption and dissemination of agri waste management practices.

Agriculture is the largest contributor of any resource sector, to the economy. Agriculture is also a larger generator of waste material. This paper focused to study the constraits and suggestions in agri waste managemet The Ex-post facto research design was adopted for the study with a sample of 120, covering Medak district of Telangana state. This study focus on analysis of profile characterstics respondents, constraints and suggestions of of respondents in agri waste management. Major constraints expressed by the farmers in adoption of agri waste management practices were, agri waste management practices requires additional work and cost, non availability of labour for the agri waste management practices, difficult to manage huge volume of agri waste, decomposition of agri waste takes time and low preference of farmers for doing waste management practices. Suggestions expressed by respondents for increased adoption of agri waste management were extension agents should educate and demonstrate about latest technologies in agri waste management, promotion of group approach to manage agri waste, promotion of more number of custom hiring centers for easy access by small and marginal farmers at village level (Happy seeder, Turbo seeder), village level industries should be developed (vermi-compost).

A study was conducted on the performance of FPOs and the factors contributing to performance of FPOs in Medak district of Telangana State, India. Three FPOs were selected randomly from 3 different promoting institutes viz., Suraksha Farmers Producer Company Ltd (SFPCL) promoted by independent research organization Centre for Sustainable Agriculture (CSA), Marpalli Kisan Kranthi Producer Company Ltd (MKKPCL) promoted by Vrutti NGO and Siddipet Kisan Agro Farmers Producer Company Ltd (SKAFPCL) promoted by International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-arid Tropics (ICRISAT). The Ex-post facto research design was adopted for the study with a sample of 90 producer members, covering three FPOs in erstwhile Medak district of Telangana State. From the analysis, it was found that overall performance of FPOs in Medak district was average to poor. The factors viz., education, group leadership, group communication, adherence to rules, group participation, and team spirit had showed positive and significant relationship with performance. The results of regression analysis inferred that all the selected twelve factors put together explained the variation to the extent of 72.47% in the performance of the FPO with leadership of officials and participation of members contributing significantly to the performance of FPOs.

The present study entitled ‘Own Grown Food Concept - Perception of Urbanites of Twin Cities about Urban Farming’ has been conducted to assess the perception of the urbanites about the urban farming and its relationship with profile characteristics. An Ex-post facto research design was followed for the study. The investigation was carried out in twin cities of Telangana namely, Hyderabad and Secunderabad comprising Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, because twin cities have large number of active urban farming practitioners compared to all other towns and cities in Telangana, in addition to this, Urban Farming Division, Department of Horticulture, Telangana organized trainings in urban farm management and distributed urban farming kits to urbanites in twin cities. All the six zones comprising twin cities (L.B Nagar, Charminar, Khairatabad, Secunderabad, Serilingampally and Kukatpally) having large number of urban farming practitioners was selected purposively. 120 urban farming practitioners having more than three years experience was selected from above six zones randomly at the rate of 20 respondents from each zone. The data were collected by a personal interview method with the help of structured interview schedule and data was analyzed by employing suitable statistical methods. The findings of the study revealed that, majority of the respondents (58.33%) had medium perception level, followed by high (21.67%), and low (20.00%) level of perception about urban farming. Correlation analysis between perception and profile of the urbanites revealed that there was a positive and significant relationship between perception and independent variables viz., education and family support. Whereas, the variables namely, preference of crops, cropping intensity and innovativeness had a significant correlation with perception about urban farming. A negative and non-significant relationship was observed between perception and age, experience in urban farming and annual income.

This paper focused to study the profile of selected FPOs and its members. With respect to the profile of FPO members, twelve profile characteristics selected were grouped under group composition, governance and management and membership commitment. An Ex-post-facto research design was adopted for the study. Three FPOs were selected randomly from 3 different promoting institutes working in the Medak district viz., Suraksha Farmers Producer Company Ltd (SFPCL) promoted by independent research organization Centre for Sustainable Agriculture (CSA), Marpalli Kisan Kranthi Producer Company Ltd (MKKPCL) promoted by Vrutti NGO and Siddipet Kisan Agro Farmers Producer Company Ltd (SKAFPCL) promoted by International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-arid Tropics (ICRISAT). The results of the study revealed that under group composition, majority were small farmers with middle age (55.55%), primary school education (35.55%), with medium farming experience (47.77%) and with medium annual income (60.00%). Majority of respondents perceived that with respect to management and governance characteristics of FPO had poor group leadership (41.11%), fair group communication (58.88%) and medium adherence to rules(41.11%). With respect to membership commitment majority of respondents had low group participation (43.33%), medium group cohesiveness (47.77%) and low team spirit (43.33%).

Agricultural waste refers to waste produced from agricultural operations, including waste from farms, poultry houses and slaughterhouses. The present study was focused on, to study the extent of adoption of agri waste management practices and its relationship with the profile of the farmers. The Ex-post facto research design was adopted for the study with a sample of 120, covering Medak district of Telangana state. From the analysis, it was found that majority of the farmers (45.80%) fall under the category of medium adoption, followed by low (27.50%) and high (26.70%) adoption categories with regards to the adoption of agri waste management practices. Correlation analysis between extent of adoption of agri waste management practices and profile characteristics of respondents revealed that, information seeking behavior had positive and significant relationship with adoption at one percent level of significance. The variables education, cropping pattern, infrastructure facilities, innovativeness, achievement motivation, training undergone had positive and farming experience had negative significant relationship with adoption at five per cent level of significance. The remaining variables, age, cropping intensity had negatively and farm size, level of aspiration had positively non-significant relationship with extent of adoption of agri waste management practices.

The study was conducted in erstwhile Nalgonda and Khammam districts of Telangana state, where pilot testing of the Interactive Information Dissemination System was conducted during year, 2013. The present study adopted Ex-post facto research design and one hundred and twenty respondents were selected by following simple random sampling method, at the rate of sixty from each identified district. From the results of the revealed that, greater majority of the registered farmers belonged to the middle age, had high school level of education with medium level of farming experience. It was also observed that, 56.67 percent of the farmers had medium level of Information acquisition behaviour, high innovativeness and registered farmers (66.67%) used to visit KVKs for agriculture information. Further, an attempt was made to find out the factors contributing for adoption of agro advisory services and it was observed that, level of education, annual income level, level of farming experience, level of socio-political participation, information acquisition behavior, use of ICT tool, innovativeness and access to KVKs were found to be the contributing factors for adoption of the agro advisory services by the farmers. The services of the IIDS helped farmers in getting real time and personalized agro advisory services 24X7 and also facilitated them in sharing their success stories with their fellow farmers.

Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) is a difficult-to-treat and rare benign vascular proliferative condition which presents as painless, solitary, or multiple vascular papules or nodules in the head and neck area, with predilection for the ear. We report a case of ALHE that failed multiple therapeutic interventions but achieved complete resolution when treated with thalidomide.

An attempt was made to assess the adoption behaviour of the cotton growers about the recommended practices and in-situ incorporation of cotton stalks by the respondent farmers. The study was conducted in four villages of Sadashivpet mandal of Medak district of Telangana purposively and a total of 120 farmers at the rate of 30 from each village were selected by following the simple random sampling technique. An interview schedule was prepared for collection data pertaining to the adoption of recommended practices and in-situ incorporation of stalks by the respondents. From the study, it could be concluded that, with respect to the adoption, majority of the farmers (70.00%) fell under medium category of adoption followed by low (17.50%) and high (12.50%) categories. With regard to the practice wise adoption, seeds and sowing, plant protection measures, land preparation and inter cultivation operations were adopted by more than eighty percent of the respondents. Among the socioeconomic characteristics of the respondents except age all other factors posed significant positive association with the extent of adoption of the recommended practices of cotton. The study also revealed that, only 35.83 per cent of the farmers were aware about the in-situ incorporation of cotton stalks in to the soil and cent percent of the farmers were aware of using the stalks as fuel/fire wood for cooking purpose.

The study was conducted in four villages of Mulugu mandal of Medak district of Telangana to assess the extent of adoption of recommended vegetable production practices and safety measures in handling pesticides by the vegetable growers. An interview schedule was prepared for collection data pertaining to the adoption of practices by the respondents. From the study, it could be concluded that, the with respect to the adoption, majority of the farmers (64.00%) fell under medium category of adoption followed by high (20.00%) and low (16.00%) categories. When practice wise adoption was assessed it was revealed that, majority of the farmers (76.00%) adopted plant protection practices followed by recommendations pertaining to the selection of seeds & sowing methods & time (72.00%) and application of manures and fertilizers (70.00%). Further, farmers opined that, powdery mildew; Helicoverpa, Spodoptera and Jassids were the important pests occur in vegetables. While coming to the safe handling of pesticides farmers opined that, they are taking personal protection measures like, use of face mask, gloves and turban while spraying of pesticides.

Miscibility of polymers decides the applicability of the resulting blends and immiscible polymer blends can be made compatible with suitable compatibilizer. Miscibility of blends of guar gum (GG) and methyl cellulose (MC) in common solvent water were studied by refractive index, density, ultrasonic velocity, and dilute solution viscometry methods at 30°C and 40°C. Based on these measurements, it is found that the polymer blend of GG/MC is immiscible. The effect of compatibilization with 0.02 wt% maghemite nanoparticle was studied in aqueous solution and found that 10/90 GG/MC blend is miscible in the presence of maghemite. Solution cast technique was used to prepare thin films of GG/MC blend – maghemite composite and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) method.&nbsp

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of manual versus mechanical glide path (GP) on the surface changes of two different nickel-titanium rotary instruments used during root canal therapy in a moderately curved root canal. Materials and Methods: Sixty systemically healthy controls were selected for the study. Controls were divided randomly into four groups: Group 1: Manual GP followed by RaCe rotary instruments, Group 2: Manual GP followed by HyFlex rotary instruments, Group 3: Mechanical GP followed by RaCe rotary instruments, Group 4: Mechanical GP followed by HyFlex rotary instruments. After access opening, GP was prepared and rotary instruments were used according to manufacturer's instructions. All instruments were evaluated for defects under standard error mean before their use and after a single use. The scorings for the files were given at apical and middle third. Statistical Analysis Used: Chi-squared test was used. Results: The results showed that there is no statistical difference between any of the groups. Irrespective of the GP and rotary files used, more defects were present in the apical third when compared to middle third of the rotary instrument. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, it can be concluded that there was no effect of manual or mechanical GP on surface defects of subsequent rotary file system used.

Background: Advancement in medical sciences with socioeconomic improvement across the country have led to increased life expectancy among Indians, which has resulted in increased old age dependency ratio. Indian health care delivery system is more deviant towards productive age groups and has side lined the veterans who constitute about 7-8% of our population. Morbidities among elderly are largely preventable and treatable if detected at early stages. Sleep disturbances, cognitive impairment and functional limitation are commonly neglected by elderly and often overlooked, whereas these conditions can severely impair the living status and quality of life among elderly. Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted in the Urban field practice area of Department of Community Medicine, JSS Medical College, Mysore for a period of three months. Details regarding Sociodemographic characteristics, sleep disturbance using STOP-BANG tool, Functional status using IADL Scale and cognitive impairment using MINICOG tool were collected in a pretested structured survey schedule by interview technique. Results: Among 102 of Geriatric subjects included in the present study, majority were in the age group 60-69 years- 72 (70.6%) and least 7 (6.9%) were 80 and above. 48 (49.1%) were males and 54 (52.9%) were females. Majority 43 (42.1%) were having Intermediate risk of sleep apnoea and 27 (26.4%) were having high risk. 44 (43.2%) were found to have subclinical cognitive impairments. Functional status scores will significantly lower among subjects with sleep and cognitive disturbances compared to their normal counterparts. Conclusions: There is a higher burden of sleep apnea, cognitive impairment among elderly which have significant influence on their functional status. Thus there is a need for evolving a strategy to include these screening procedures in the regular health check-up among elderly.

Telecommunication facilities are faced with the challenge of configuring a power supply that supports the network requirements as reliably and economically as possible. The telecommunication equipment generally requires 48VDC input power. Such power systems consist of multiple parallel-redundant rectifiers that convert AC power to required DC power. This power is utilized to charge lead-acid storage batteries and supply power to critical-loads. A charge controller or charge regulator is basically a voltage and/or current regulator to keep batteries from overcharging. It regulates the voltage and current coming from DC source going to the battery and load. This paper presents the improved charge controller for the telecommunication system using microcontroller (Renesas-RL78) based buck converter.

The combined effects of basic cubic temperature profiles and magnetic field dependent (MFD) viscosity on the onset of Benard-Marangoni convection in a ferrofluid layer are studied. The lower boundary is rigid-isothermal, while the upper free boundary open to the atmosphere is flat and subject to a general thermal boundary condition. The Galerkin technique is employed to extract the critical stability parameters numerically. The results indicate that the basic cubic temperature profiles have a profound influence on the stability characteristics of the system and can be effectively used to either suppress or augment the onset of Benard–Marangoni ferroconvection. Besides, increasing the magnetic Rayleigh number and the nonlinearity of magnetization hastens, while an increase in the Biot number and MFD viscosity parameter delays the onset of Benard–Marangoni ferroconvection. The existing results in the literature are obtained as particular cases from the present study.

Delivering quality power is the important issue of grid connected solar photovoltaic (PV) system. The generation of quality power from the proposed system is influenced by the intermittent nature of solar photovoltaic power, power electronic converters used and the nonlinear loads connected to the system. To understand and analyze the system an accurate modeling is required. This paper deals with modeling of PV array of 100kWp grid connected photovoltaic system in the direction of providing quality power mainly related to harmonic issues at low irradiation level. The proposed system is analyzed with the help of MATLAB/SIMULINK.
