The performance of these solutions depends on several factors, such as the characteristics of the sensors and the environment, as well as the computing platforms, which can heavily impact their accuracy and response time. Carrying out such performance evaluations through real flight tests can be a resource-demanding, time- consuming, and, at times, risky process, which is why researchers often rely on simulation environments for testing and validating sensor fusion algorithms. The simulation environment should provide photorealistic environmental features, as well as a comprehensive set of sensors, in order to allow to test the most extensive set of sensor fusion algorithms. This paper presents AirLoop, an AirSim-based flight simulator for Hardware- in-the-Loop and Software-in-the-Loop algorithm testing and validation. AirLoop extends the sensor setup provided by AirSim with an FMCW RADAR sensor simulation, which has been evaluated based on the Infineon Technologies BGT60TR13C RADAR. Furthermore, this work provides several Software-in-the- Loop (SITL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) demonstrations, including interfacing with the Pixhawk 2 flight controller and an extensive evaluation of the communication of the engine with the NVIDIA Jetson Nano, which has been evaluated in various use cases, including dataset creation, object detection, Path Planning, and Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM)., European Union (EU)-Funded Project Airborne Data Collection on Resilient System Architectures(ADACORSA), European Commission 876019, Spanish Government TED2021-129949A-I00, Junta de Andalucia P20_00265

O transplante pulmonar é uma opção terapêutica com alto potencial para o tratamento de diversas pneumopatias avançadas, levando ao receptor sobrevida e uma melhor qualidade de vida. No entanto, diferente dos outros órgãos sólidos, no transplante pulmonar vemos um cenário onde existe uma carência na oferta de órgão doador e uma alta demanda para o transplante. Essa carência ocorre pela falta de doadores adequados nos critérios de seleção, pois devido às agressões ao pulmão ocasionadas pela morte encefálica e aos cuidados na UTI, leva a uma não viabilidade da doação do órgão e como consequência um aumento desproporcional na fila de espera. Ademais, existem propostas tecnológicas para aumentar a oferta de pulmões. A perfusão pulmonar ex vivo, é considerada uma proposta com bastante perspectiva por conseguir recuperar alguns pulmões que inicialmente eram descartados. É fundamental que a ciência continue demostrando constante evolução nas diversas etapas do transplante pulmonar, como aprimoramento nos métodos, no suporte pré, peri e pós operatório, no aumento da oferta pulmonar, com objetivo de aumentar a sobrevida e diminuir a carência de órgão doador. Além disso, é necessário o conhecimento dos critérios de indicação, contraindicação e do manejo para alcançar melhor resultados nessa opção terapêutica para pneumopatias avançadas

RESUMO O mamoeiro Carica papaya (L.) é acometido por diversos problemas fitossanitários, sendo o ácaro Tetranychus urticae (Koch, 1836) (Acari: Tetranychidae) uma das pragas-chave. A utilização de fungos entomopatogênicos é uma alternativa ao controle por agrotóxicos, reduzindo os riscos de resistência e também a carga de substâncias tóxicas ao ambiente. Este trabalho foi realizado para verificar se as diferentes cultivares de mamoeiro interferem na patogenicidade de Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae e Lecanicillium longisporum. No bioensaio foram utilizadas fêmeas adultas de T. urticae mantidas por pelo menos uma geração sobre folhas de quatro cultivares de mamão, Calimosa, Golden, Sunrise e Tainung 01, e também de uma testemunha de feijão-de-porco. Foram então transferidas dez fêmeas para placas de Petri com discos de folhas das respectivas cultivares de origem e de feijão-de-porco. Em seguida, os ácaros foram pulverizados com suspensões 5 x 107 conídios.mL-1 em Torre de Potter. As suspensões de conídios foram preparadas a partir das formulações comerciais: Boveril® B. bassiana; Metarril® M. anisopliae; Vertirril® L. longisporum. Foi avaliada a mortalidade corrigida e confirmada. Foram observadas diferenças (Tukey, P < 0,05) entre as cultivares na resposta patogênica de T. urticae. Para o 3° DAP, uma melhor eficiência em porcentagem de mortalidade foi observada para o formulado Vertirril® aplicado nas cultivares Calimosa, Golden e Sunrise, e para Metarril® na cultivar Tainung 01. Para o 5° DAP, as eficiências entre as cultivares foram muito próximas. ABSTRACT Papaya Carica papaya (L.) is affected by various phytosanitary problems, and the mite Tetranychus urticae (Koch, 1836) (Acari: Tetranychidae) is a key pest. The use of entomopathogenic fungi is an alternative to the use of pesticides, lowering the risk of resistance while reducing the the load of toxic substances in the environment. This study was conducted to determine whether the different cultivars of papaya interfere with the pathogenicity of Beauveria bassiana. Metarhizium anisopliae and Lecanicillium longisporum. The bioas say was carried out using adult T. urticae females maintained for at least one generation on leaves of four papaya cultivars (Calimosa, Golden, Sunrise, Tainung 01) or on jack bean leaves (control). Ten females were transferred to Petri dishes with leaf disks of the origin cultivars and jack beans. The mites were then sprayed with a 5 x 107 conidia.mL-1 suspension in a Potter Tower. Conidial suspensions were prepared from the commercial formulations Boveril® B. bassiana, Metarril® M. anisopliae, and Vertirril® L. longisporum. The corrected and confirmed mortalities were evaluated. Differences were observed (Tukey, P < 0.05) among the papaya cultivars in terms of the T. urticae pathogenic response. On the 3rd day after spraying (DAS), a better efficiency in mortality percentage was observed for the Vertirril® formulation applied to the Calimosa, Golden and Sunrise cultivars, and for Metarril® applied to the Tainung 01cultivar. On the 5th DAS, the efficiencies among the cultivars were very close.

The increase of sheep meat competitiveness in international markets can be attributed to the rise of the quantity and the improvement of the quality of the edible portion of sheep carcasses. Usually, carcass yield is established after the slaughter of the animals. Yet, when carcass yield is determined in vivo, it can be both a costly and subjective method. This study proposes models for predicting the physical characteristics of lamb carcass using bioimpedance analysis (BIA) in live animals. Thirty-one Texel × Ile de France crossbreed ram lambs were slaughtered at 20, 26, 32 or 38 kg of BW. Before the slaughter, values of resistance (Rs) and reactance (Xc) were collected using a single-frequency BIA equipment (Model RJL Quantum II Bioelectrical Body Composition Analyzer). Then, BIA main variables such as body bioelectrical volume (V), phase angle (PA), resistive density (RsD) and reactive density (XcD) were calculated. After slaughter, cold carcass weight (CCW), cold carcass yield (CCY), subcutaneous fat thickness (SFT), soft tissue weight (STW) and soft tissue yield (STY) were also measured. Multiple regression analyses were carried out using the physical characteristics as dependent variables and the bioimpedance values as independent variables. Predictive performance of the models was assessed using leave-one-out cross-validation. The prediction model of CCW was obtained using the V, PA and RsD (R2 = 0.97), STW through the V, RsD and XcD (R2 = 0.97), CCY by Rs, Z and XcD (R2 = 0.69), STY by V and XcD (R2 = 0.67), and SFT only for XcD (R2 = 0.84). The results indicated that BIA has the potential to predict carcass characteristics of lambs at different body masses.

Performance and energy consumption are fundamental requirements in computer systems. A very frequent challenge is to combine both aspects, searching to keep the high performance computing while consuming less energy. There are a lot of techniques to reduce energy consumption, but in general, they use modern processors resources or they require specific knowledge about application and platform used. In this paper, we propose a library that dynamically changes the processor frequency according to the application's computing behavior, using a previous analysis of its Memory-Bound regions. The results show a reduction of 1,89% in energy consumption for Lulesh application with an increase of 0,09% in runtime when we compare our approach against the governor Ondemand of the Linux Operating System.

RESUMO O objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar o efeito da suplementação privativa, com concentrado ou leguminosa, sobre as características da carcaça e dos componentes corporais de cordeiros lactentes mantidos em pastejo de azevém. Foram utilizados 27 cordeiros lactentes, distribuídos nos tratamentos que corresponderam aos sistemas de alimentação: cordeiros lactentes mantidos em pasto de azevém, cordeiros lactentes mantidos em pasto de azevém e suplementados com concentrado em comedouro privativo (creep feeding) e cordeiros lactentes mantidos em pasto de azevém e suplementados com leguminosa no pasto privativo (creep grazing). O concentrado era composto por milho, farelo de soja e calcário calcítico, e a leguminosa utilizada foi o trevo-branco. O delineamento experimental foi o inteiramente ao acaso. Os resultados foram submetidos à análise de variância, e as médias comparadas pelo teste de Tukey a 5% de significância. The objective of this study was to evaluate the characteristics of carcass and non-carcass components of lambs and hoggets finished in the feedlot with high-concentrate corn or sorghum grain-based diets. Thirty-two animals were finished, comprising 16 lambs (milk teeth) and 16 hoggets (two teeth), which were distributed in a completely randomized design in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement (two sheep categories × two grains). For the variables final live weight, live weight at slaughter, hot carcass weight, cold carcass weight, hot carcass yield, cold carcass yield, carcass compactness index, subjective color, loin-eye area, fasting losses, external organs, internal organs, and for the weights, in kilograms, of neck, shoulder, ribs, and leg, there was a significant difference between categories. In the variables studied for the high-concentrate diets, significant differences were found for the ribs, expressed in relative values. Lambs have much higher fasting losses, a greater proportion of internal organs, and lighter-colored meat compared with hoggets. Hot and cold carcass yields, meat subjective color, and percentage of ribs are higher in feedlot-finished lambs and hoggets fed high-concentrate sorghum-based diets compared with those fed corn-based diets.

This paper presents a detailed energy consumption analysis, considering the energy consumption related to CPU, cache memory and main memory of parallel applications on a 16-core HPC platform. The correlations between energy consumption, speedup, and execution time are also herein presented. Tests are conducted with the NAS parallel benchmarks using three different measurement tools: i) Perf, for the measurement of hardware cache memory events; ii) CACTI, used to estimate the cache memory energy consumption by access; and iii) PCM, for CPU and DRAM energy consumption estimates. Our results show that the lowest overall energy consumption occurs only when all physical cores are used, reducing by 62%, on average, the total system energy consumption when compared to the sequential version for the execution. Moreover, the cache memories results are even better, achieving a reduction of 80% in most of the cases, despite the increase in cache miss rate generated by the increased number of threads.

What this study adds When applied to Italian cohorts of obese children and adolescents, the triglycerides cut-off of 1.17 mmol/L has similar validity as in the Canadian cohort to select patients who may present impaired glucose tolerance. Fasting plasma glucose and fasting triglycerides can be combined to obtain an accurate criterion to select obese children and adolescents who may present impaired glucose tolerance. Objectives We aimed to validate fasting triglycerides > 1.17 mmol L−1, a criterion recently proposed for selecting obese children at risk of impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), and to assess whether the accuracy of triglycerides (TG) can be improved by the use of other variables. Methods We studied an Italian cohort of 817 obese children and adolescents (8–18.4 years) who underwent clinical examination, fasting blood analysis and the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). The discriminative properties of TG > 1.17 mmol L−1 were assessed and compared with those observed in a Canadian cohort from which this criterion was derived: 71.4 [57.8–85.1]% sensitivity and 64.1 [57.7–70.4]% specificity. The possible contribution of other variables was evaluated by assessing the net reclassification improvement (NRI), i.e., the net increase in the percentage of subjects correctly classified. Results Thirty-nine children (4.7%) had IGT. The 1.17 mmol L−1 TG threshold showed 66.6 [51.8–81.4]% sensitivity and 68.2 [64.9–71.5]% specificity, thus successfully validated. Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) was independently associated with IGT (odds ratio = 3.86 [2.09–7.14], P 1.17 mmol L−1. Conclusions TG > 1.17 mmol L−1 is a useful criterion to detect roughly 66% of obese children with IGT through OGTT performed in about 33% of all obese children. However, the ‘TG≥1.13 mmol L−1 plus FPG≥4.44 mmol L−1’ criterion improved discrimination accuracy, leading to the possibility of detecting even more than 66% of obese children with IGT though limiting OGTT to just 25% of all obese children.

Avaliou-se o efeito de dietas contendo diferentes teores de borra de soja sobre o consumo de nutrientes, o ganho de peso, as características de carcaça e os componentes do peso vivo de cordeiros terminados em confinamento. Foram utilizados 25 cordeiros, machos, castrados, da raça Texel, distribuídos aleatoriamente em cinco tratamentos compostos por proporções de 0%, 2,89%, 5,77%, 8,65% ou 11,55% de borra de soja na matéria seca das dietas. Houve redução linear do consumo de nutrientes, com exceção do consumo de extrato etéreo, que aumentou linearmente. O peso vivo ao abate, o ganho de peso diário, os pesos e rendimentos de carcaça quente e fria, e os pesos de perna e de costilhar diminuíram linearmente, ao passo que as proporções de rúmen e do trato gastrintestinal, com conteúdo, bem como o conteúdo gastrointestinal, aumentaram linearmente com o aumento dos níveis de borra de soja nas dietas. A proporção de perna foi influenciada de forma quadrática. O aumento da participação de borra de soja na dieta de cordeiros em sistema de confinamento leva à diminuição do desempenho produtivo dos animais. Contudo, o lucro diário obtido por animal não é influenciado, podendo-se inferir que a inclusão de borra de soja até o nível de 11,55% da matéria seca total da dieta é uma alternativa viável para a terminação de cordeiros em confinamento. We evaluated the nutrient intake, weight gain, carcass characteristics and the non carcass components of lambs in feedlot finishing diets containing increasing levels of soybean soapstock . We used 25 male lambs , castrated Texel , randomly distributed into five treatments consisting of proporti ons of 0 %, 2 . 89 %, 5. 77 %, 8 . 6 5 % or 11 .55 % of soybean soapstock i n the dry matter this diets. Linear reduction of nutrient intake was observed , with the exception of the consumption of ether extract , which increased linearly. The live weight at slaughter , th e daily weight gain , the weights and yields from hot and cold carcass and the weights of hindquarter and rib decreased linearly , while the p roportions of rumen and gastrointestinal tract, full and gastrointestinal tract content increased in a linear way as it increased the proportion of level this soybean soapstock in the diet. The proportion of hindquarter varied in a quadratic way. The increase in soybean soapstock in the diet of lambs in confinement system leads to decrease in productive performance of a nimals. However, the daily profit obtained per animal is not affected, and we may infer that the inclusion of soybean soapstock to the level of 11.55% of the total dry matter of the diet is a viable alternative to termination of feedlot lambs.

N RESPONSE TO changing economics, a public health service deficit, and the interests of the patient, day (outpatient) surgery units have played an increasingly important role in the last few years in that this service has become more widely available, above all in countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom. Major ambulatory surgery (MAS), performed in suitable conditions and circumstances, is safe, efficient, and beneficial to the patient. The costs per patient are lower than those incurred when the same procedures are performed in an inpatient setting, and MAS can have positive effects on the organization and running of the health care system. I Although the concept of ambulatory surgery is not new, its recent role in decreasing cost and increasing productivity has made its acceptance very high by health care models as different as those in the United States and the United Kingdom. A 78-year-old male patient had chronic, unrelieved abdominal pain due to mesenteric ischaemia. Unsuccessful pharmacological approaches included oral morphine plus coadjuvants as well as a sympathetic celiac plexus block which gave pain relief that lasted for 72 h. In order to obtain long-lasting relief, a trial epidural stimulating electrode was implanted after obtaining informed consent and Ethical Committee approval. Complete analgesia was achieved during a trial period of 2 weeks. Thereafter, a spinal cord stimulator was implanted. At the time of writing, 11 months after implantation, the degree of analgesia is complete. We believe that spinal cord stimulation may represent an alternative approach in controlling pain due to mesenteric ischaemia.

To compare the efficacy and feasibility of the sciatic nerve block performed using either a posterior or a lateral approach to the popliteal fossa, taking into consideration patient comfort during puncture and postoperative analgesia.Sixty patients scheduled for foot surgery were randomly assigned to 2 groups: a posterior approach was used in performing the sciatic nerve block in 1 group (n = 30) and a lateral approach was in the other group (n = 30). The local anesthetic employed was mepivacaine 1%.Duration of sensory block was used significantly longer with the lateral approach (5.4 hours, range 3.3-8 hours) than with the posterior approach (4.4 hours, range 1.5-7 hours) (P0.001). Time to onset of the block was significantly shorter with the lateral approach (10 minutes, range 5-25 minutes) than with the posterior approach (17 minutes, range 4-45 minutes) (P0.01). Quality of the blockade was similar with both approaches.The lateral approach to the block of the sciatic nerve in the popliteal fossa provides analgesia comparable to that obtained with the posterior approach, with a faster onset and longer postoperative duration.

We review the use of urapidil to manage hypertension in two patients undergoing adrenalectomy for pheochromocytoma and aldosterone producing adenoma. Bolus administration (25 mg/i.v.) of urapidil provided good control of blood pressure during surgical manipulation of the tumor, although continuous perfusion of the drug was required by one patient before complete excision was achieved. No changes in heart rate or sudden decrease in blood pressure were observed. We believe that urapidil may be useful for treating hypertension during tumor adrenalectomy.

A physiological pregnancy in which the only pathological datum proved to be a computerised NST at the 40th week of pregnancy is reported. The NST trace showed evidence of fetal distress: absence of acceleration, short term reduced variability and deceleration of the fetal beat. On the basis of further traces, constantly pathological, and of the echographic evaluation of the fetal "outcome", with a biophysical profile which revealed oligohydramnios and absence of active fetal movement, Cesarean Section was undertaken, resulting in the birth of a baby girl of 3180 g, 50 cms, with Apgar 8/10. The clinical interest in this case arises from the total lack of pathological anamnestic data in the pregnancy, except, at a more accurate evaluation, anemia due to martial shortcoming of modest entity in the 1st and in the 2nd trimesters, worsening in the course of the 3rd after an episode of cystopyelitis. The message of the clinical case described is that immediate and careful evaluation of NST must be integrated in every case with obstetric anamneses, echographic and hormonal parameters, without a careful interpretation of routine hematochemical parameters.

An investigation of properties of the solutions of the steady state inviscid barotropic vorticity equation in a rectangular basin was performed for various functional relationships between potential vorticity and the streamfunction. All computed solutions which have slow interior flow and satisfy Arnol'd-Blumen condition are qualitatively similar to Fofonoff's inertial gyre. A new class of solutions with a small vortex near the boundary current is described. Such solutions are not stable under finite amplitude perturbations and instability is manifested in the drift of the vortex. It is shown that the vortex is robust and decays only after collision with the boundary or under the influence of very large perturbations. We also show that the inertial boundary current may be much wider than in Fofonoff's model due to the appearance of a countercurrent on its seaward side.

Potentiometrie sensors as the λ-sensor deliver a sufficiently high signal only in a narrow region near the point of equivalence. The reason is the logarithmic dependence of the voltage on the partial pressure of the gas to be measured. For measurements outside of this range limiting current sensors are suitable, their current signal being proportional to the gas concentration. The limiting current can be regulated either by a solid membrane or by gas diffusion, for example in narrow pores. – Depending upon the gas to be converted, the limiting current sensors can be operated cathodically or anodically. All electrochemically convertible gases can be measured in principle. By selection of proper electrode materials and potentials it is possible within limits to gain selective signals. – Sensors with solid as well with liquid electrolytes are dealt with.

The antihypertensive effect of indapamide, a new thiazide derivative, has a low diuretic effect and a primary action on vascular smooth muscle. It was evaluated in a series of 20 patients with non-insulin-dependent diabetes (age range 47-75 years) who had arterial hypertension of mild to moderate degree treated with hypoglycemic agents and/or diet. Indapamide, 2.5 mg, was given as a single daily dose for 6 months. A statistically significant reduction of systolic and diastolic pressures was observed in both supine and upright positions. This decrease was significant beginning in the first month of therapy (p less than 0.001). No significant modifications of fasting glycemia, postprandial glycemia, and glycosylated hemoglobin were noted. No significant changes were observed in serum sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, and uric acid. Indapamide is an effective and practical treatment of hypertension of mild to moderate degree in patients with diabetes. The absence of effect on glucose metabolism makes it an especially interesting drug.
