Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy has increasingly been used for materials characterization as it enables selective detection of elements of interest, as well as their local structure and dynamic properties. Nevertheless, utilization of NMR is limited by its inherent low sensitivity. The development of dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) approaches, which provide enormous sensitivity gain in NMR through the transfer of polarization from electron spins, has transformed the application of solid-state NMR in materials science. In this review, we outline the opportunities for materials characterization that DNP has opened up. We describe the main DNP mechanisms available, their implementation, and the kinds of insight they can provide across different materials classes, from surfaces and interfaces to defects in the bulk of solids. Finally, we discuss the current limitations of the approach and provide an outlook on future developments for DNP-enhanced NMR spectroscopy in materials science.

Antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) is a key aspect of pediatrics concerning antibiotic therapy Purpose. The article aims at investigating the effects of colloidal silicon dioxide in the treatment of antibiotic-associated diarrhea in children. Materials and methods. Using parametric and nonparametric methods of analysis, 83 patients were examined (treatment group — 41 children who used colloidal silicon dioxide and the control group — 42 children) of both sexes (mean age (13.7 ± 2.6) years) with pathology of the lower respiratory tract (acute bronchitis or community-acquired pneumonia), who developed AAD against the background of ABT. Results. When using colloidal silicon dioxide in 75.6% of children, diarrhea decreased by the 2nd day and stopped by the 4th day (median — 0 points). Against the background of taking the drug throughout the treatment, there was a marked 3-fold decrease in all AAD values. The assessment of the efficacy and safety of the drug according to the data of medical researchers was 3.4 points. Analysis of subjective data on the tolerability of the drug showed «excellent» and «good». Against the background of the full course of treatment with colloidal silicon dioxide, a 2 times more pronounced decrease in the characteristics of AAD was noted. Conclusion. The presented data are intended to focus the attention of pediatricians on the rational use of ABT, timely diagnosis of an unwanted drug reaction in the form of AAD and its correction. The studied drug showed high efficacy and safety, which makes it possible to recommend it as a symptomatic treatment of diarrhea that developed against the background of ABT treatment in the complex therapy of diseases of the lower respiratory tract in children.

A mathematical model for obtaining a stereo image from several wide-angle cameras was proposed. Methods for eliminating distortion from wide-angle “fisheye” lenses when constructing a stereo panorama were considered. It was shown that this approach was the most effective for performing key tasks.

The article considers the use of a jet pump design with separate workflows for the production of high-viscosity oil. The authors have developed an improved design of a jet well unit with separate workflows, in which the working fluid, moving through the inner annulus, reaching the pump housing, is divided into two streams. A portion of the working mixture - 40% (depending on the cross section of the nozzle of the twisting chamber) enters the twisting chamber of the hydrodynamic cavitator, via which the working fluid passes, creating gas bubbles. These bubbles flake under the action of external pressure at the outlet of the chamber when the liquid passes through a stepped diffuser. The second portion of the working mixture - 60% (depending on the cross section of the jet nozzle) enters the pump nozzle, where flowing at high speed, forms a zone of reduced pressure, resulting in the mixture and oil from the subpacker enter the mixing chamber of the device. We have considered the conditions that can provide the effect of gushing, taking into account the fact that with the use of jet devices can achieve this effect. There may be two cases: 1) the extraction of fluid from wells is limited; 2) the extraction of fluid from wells is unlimited. The initial data, technological parameters and the sequence of their determination are given for the variant when light oil is used as a working liquid, and the working pressure of the surface power plant is not set. Determining the technological parameters of the well unit is a solution to the direct problem, and then - the reverse one. The improved method for calculating the technological parameters of a jet well unit with separate workflows, the design of which has no analogues in Ukraine, is proposed. This technique has been tested during industrial tests of a prototype of an equipment set for the extraction of high-viscosity oils. This article is based on field data from the Russian North. Its subject is the problem of the relationship between the living and the deceased. The main goal of the article is to show how dream stories transform the Russian peasants’ idea idea that deceased persons can visit their living kin in order to continue their family life together, including sexual relations. This mythological plot, which often causes real fear among people who have lost relatives, is mirrored in dream stories. On the one hand, the appearance of the deceased in a dream is associated with the expectation of the dreamer’s imminent death. On the other, stories are recorded about dreams where the deceased husband refuses to take his wife with him to the world of the dead or even tries to get rid of her. The reluctance of the deceased to take his living relative with him can be explained by the desire to preserve the border between the world of the living and the world of the dead. For protection from the living, the deceased use the same strategies as do the living to protect themselves against the dead relatives when they come. These strategies include: 1) escape (upon seeing a living relative, the dead goes away); 2) declaring the absence of suitable housing (the deceased husband has nowhere to bring his wife); 3) expulsion with the help of aggression, primarily obscene swearing.

Problem. In modern conditions as health care workers are fighting the coronavirus infection, the state of their occupational safety and hygiene needs to be studied. The article is devoted to this problem.Aim. The work aims to conduct a comprehensive assessment of occupational safety and hygiene of health care workers and develop recommendations for its improvement in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.Research methods. During performing the research used complex methods of scientific knowledge: the philosophi-cal (dialectical), general (methods of complex, formal-logical and systematic analysis and synthesis) and comparative-law.The object of the study is the safety and hygiene of health care workers.The scientific novelty lies in a comprehensive study of theoretical and practical aspects of occupational safety and hygiene of medical workers to reduce occupational injuries and occupational diseases, as well as to lower the degree of occupational risks.Results. The article considers the state of occupational safety and health of health care workers, who in the performance of their professional duties face a whole range of dangerous and harmful factors that can lead to the development of occupational diseases. Coronavirus infection paid particular attention. The article analyzes the latest research and publications on this issue, examines current law and regulations, considers the rights of physicians to healthy and safe working conditions.Conclusions and recommendations. In order to improve the state of occupational safety and hygiene of health care workers we recommend: to resume the operation of sanitary and epidemiological services in the country; to continue the educational training of epidemiologists and hygienists in universities; to ensure the organization of special training for all employees of medical institutions on modern methods of infection prevention, post-exposure prevention, as well as measures and means of infection control (introductory - during employment, periodic - once a year before the annual outbreak of infectious diseases, target - in case of sudden mass outbreaks of dangerous infections and their significant spread or after an occupational accident (infection)); to oblige to teach occupational safety disciplines in universities of medical profiles; at the state level to provide for the establishment of an appropriate system of occupational safety and health in the field of health care; to carry out obligatory assessment of working conditions and determination of the category of severity of work of medical workers; to provide all medical workers involved in the fight against infectious diseases with personal protective equipment at the required amount; to provide rational working and leisure conditions for medical workers in order to protect and preserve their health and ability to work; to ensure proper control over com-pliance with safety requirements when working with equipment that is a source of physically hazardous and harmful production factors; to carry out constant control over the amount of chemical and biological substances in the air of the working zone, air ionization, not allowing the maximum permissible concentrations to be exceeded.

A silica-supported monomeric alkylaluminum co-catalyst was prepared via surface organometallic chemistry by contacting tris(neopentyl)aluminum and partially dehydroxylated silica. This system, fully characterized by solid-state 27 Al NMR spectroscopy augmented by computational studies, efficiently activates (n Bu3 P)2 NiCl2 towards dimerization of ethene, demonstrating comparable activity to previously reported dimeric diethylaluminum chloride supported on silica. Three types of aluminum surface species have been identified: monografted tetracoordinated Al species as well as two types of bisgrafted Al species-tetra- and pentacoordinated. Of them, only the monografted Al species is proposed to be able to activate the (n Bu3 P)2 NiCl2 complex and generate the active cationic species.

Purpose: To develop approaches to categorizing (ranking) radiological terrorism (RT) threats on the basis of expert assessment of the possibility (likelihood) of the implementation of certain RT scenarios and assessment of their medical and hygienic consequences. Results: Five categories of RT threats are highlighted. The first (most hazardous) threat category includes situations related to the use of radioactivity dispersing devices (RDD), including the “dirty bomb”. It is shown that the creation of a potential threat of radiation exposure to people at the thresholds of deterministic effects may require the activity of radionuclides in RDD in the range of several hundred TBq. The second category of threats includes scenarios of RT related to the placement of high dose rate radionuclide sources in areas of permanent location or mass gathering of people. The third category of threats includes situations when radionuclide sources maliciously place (enclose) into technological equipment and processes, which leads to radioactive contamination of the environment, industrial and socially significant facilities (water treatment plants, warehouses of food and raw materials), manufactured products. It is shown that in the case of the implementation of such RT scenarios, the dose criteria that require protective measures for the public are unlikely to be achieved. The fourth category of threats includes the physical impact on radioactive materials in the nuclear reactors, fuel element storage pools, and radioactive waste storage facilities. The fifth category of threats includes scenarios of RT related to the use of improvised nuclear devices or nuclear weapons by terrorists. Conclusion: Threats of categories I–III, given the combination of the possibility of implementing RT scenarios and the scale of medical and hygienic consequences, are estimated as relatively high. Threats of category IV and V due to the extremely low probability of their implementation have the lowest rating, despite the great and even catastrophic nature of the consequences.

Purpose: To clarify the frequency, nosological forms, the timing of development and the features of the clinical course of developed oncohematological diseases on the basis of a retrospective analysis of the results of long-term follow-up of patients who underwent acute radiation syndrome (ARS). Material and methods: An analysis of clinical histories from archives of A.I. Burnasyan Federal Medical Biophysical Center of 157 patients who underwent ARS of varying severity, and some scientific publications. Various oncohematological diseases developed in the long-term period in 8 patients with ARS I–III severity: in 5 patients – myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), in 2 – chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and in 1 – acute myelomonoblastic leukemia (OMML). Results: The excess absolute risk of developing MDS and leukemia in the group is 7.2×10–4 man-years/Gy. All patients underwent relatively uniform irradiation. MDS developed in 5 patients who underwent ARS as a result of a single acute gamma-beta- and gamma-neutron irradiation at doses of 1.2–5.0 Gy. Nosological forms of MDS: with unilinear dysplasia, with multilinear dysplasia (2 cases), with ringed sideroblasts, with excess blasts. The latency period lasted from 3 to 31 years. Age at the time of irradiation was 28–55 years. CML, Ph-positive form, was detected in 2 patients. Doses of gamma-beta-radiation were 2.0 and 4.3 Gy. Age of patients at the time of irradiation was 22 and 25 years. Diseases developed 3 and 15 years after the undergone ARS and were characterized by a long period of inactive phase (10 and 7 years), which resulted in a blast crisis. OMML in the patient, who suffered during the Chernobyl accident and since 1990 was observed in the URCRM, developed 11.8 years after irradiation at a dose of 3.0 Gy. An analysis of available clinical data makes it possible to question the diagnosis of acute leukemia, and to suppose that chronic myelomonocytic leukemia developed in this patient. Conclusion: The obtained data indicate that chronic leukemia forms are characteristic for radiation leukemia, often with a long preceding cytopenic stage (MDS). An essential factor in the realization of the leukemogenic effect is the uniformity of the whole body exposure undoubtedly. In addition, it can’t be ruled out that the carriage of hepatitis B and C viruses also played a role in the formation of MDS.

The article deals with the problems of studying folk hagiography, a complex of peasants’ written and oral texts, which contain information about saints or revered non-canonized devotees and express the very specifics of the popular understanding of holiness. The first half of the article discusses the phenomenon of folk hagiography, defines the range of folklore genres, reflecting folk beliefs about saints, and investigates the mechanisms of interaction between the written and oral traditions. The second half analyzes texts and religious practices related to the folk worship of the non-canonized elder Judas Koneschelsky (Archangelsk North). There are following sources for the study of this cult: judicial documents of the turn of the 19th and the 20th centuries, a peasant’s diary of the turn of the 19th and the 20th centuries, local priests’ notes from that time, and field data, collected by folklorists at the beginning of the 21th century. On the basis of these sources, the authors, considering a specific case, make an attempt to study the mechanisms of functioning of folk hagiography. A large time span between the early and late data records and various texts about Judas make it possible to trace evolution of this cult.

The main objective of anesthesiologist is maintenance of patientʼs homeostasis during surgery. Among all the physiological parameters, only arterial pressure has such significant amplitude of oscillations, still the association between postoperative complications and blood pressure fluctuations is often unobvious. Furthermore, blood pressure is a modifiable parameter and can be easily regulated by fluids, vasopressor and inotropic agents in most cases. Intraoperative decrease of blood pressure may occur due to the action of anesthetics, hypotensive drugs, nonphysiological positioning of the patient on the operating table, artificial ventilation, surgical procedures, cardiopulmonary bypass, hypovolemia, acid-base and electrolyte disorders, acute heart failure, arrhythmias, anaphylaxis and others factors. The lack of consensus about the definition of hypotension makes difficulties in evaluation of its effect on human organism. More than 140 different absolute and relative values are used as hypotension thresholds. Nevertheless, the data accumulated over the past few years lead us to the conclusion that intraoperative decrease of blood pressure is associated with the development of various nervous, cardiovascular and renal complications, what ultimately leads to increased morbidity and mortality. Severity of adverse effects is a function of range and duration of blood pressure fall. Every patient has an individual set of genetic, physiological and pathophysiological features that determine the optimal blood pressure level. Thus, another promising direction may be development of the strategy for individualized blood pressure management.

Low-temperature 15N dynamic nuclear polarization surface enhanced NMR spectroscopy (DNP SENS) of adsorbed pyridine in combination with FTIR measurements and DFT calculations was applied to investigate the surface sites of γ-alumina, which can be divided into four groups: (1) groups 1 and 2, associated with less shielded 15N chemical shifts and the lowest ν(8a) frequencies of adsorbed pyridine, corresponding to weakly adsorbed H-bonding pyridine to hydroxyl group or chemisorbed water on alumina; (2) group 3, with intermediate 15N chemical shifts and ν(8a) frequencies, corresponding to pyridine coordinated to specific Lewis acid sites, namely five-coordinated (AlV) aluminum atoms of the (100) facet, as well as some H-bonded pyridine; (3) group 4, associated with the most shielded 15N chemical shift and the highest ν(8a) frequency, selectively assigned to Lewis acid Al sites located on the (110) facet and corresponding to both four- and five-coordinated aluminum atoms (AlIV and AlV). The purpose of this study is to assess changes in the rates of acid-base balance in adult cardiac surgery patients with acquired cardiac defects who were operated using hypo- and normothermic cardiopulmonary bypass. Materials and Methods: 140 patients who had surgical treatment of acquired cardiac defects with the use of cardiopulmonary bypass were randomly divided into two similar groups with the use of hypothermic and normothermic cardiopulmonary(31-32˚С and > 36˚С). The rates of acid-base balance were evaluated during peri-operation and post-surgery stages as well as morbidity and mortality during the hospital stage. Results. The patients who had surgery with the use of hypothermic cardiopulmonary bypass, had the level of РаO2 statistically lower one day after surgery compared to the patients who had surgery with normothermic cardiopulmonary bypass. When analyzing the post surgery period with the use of hypothermic cardiopulmonary bypass the duration of artificial pulmonary ventilation was significantly lower compared to the group who had normothermic cardiopulmonary bypass. However it made no impact on duration of stay in the wards for post-surgery follow-up, general duration of hospital stay, frequency of complications and hospital mortality. Conclusion. The results of study demonstrated no statistically significant differences in the rate of acid-base balance in patients who had surgery with normothermic and hypothermic cardiopulmonary bypass. Moreover the changes in acid-base balance in both groups during surgery and post-surgery periods did not go beyond the normal values which indicates the adequate protection of the host from surgery aggression factors.

Goal of the study: to identify the predictors of continuous hospital stay in adult patients with acquired valvular disease, operated with hypothermic and normothermic cardiopulmonary bypass due definitive repair of the disease. Materials and methods: 140 patients who had surgical treatment of acquired valvular disease with the use of cardiopulmonary bypass were randomly divided into two similar groups where hypothermic and normothermic cardiopulmonary bypasses were used. Peri-operative concentration of NT-proBNP, clinical course of the post-operative period, hospital morbidly and mortality were assessed. Results. No confident difference was observed in the changes of NT-proBNP in the groups, what could provide the evidence of the similar effects of both hypothermic and normothermic cardiopulmonary bypasses on integrative functional rates of cardiovascular system. However it was noted that increase of NT-proBNP plasma concentration during first 24 hours after the surgery, as well as age, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), maximum degree of chronic cardiac failure (CCF), duration of artificial pulmonary ventilation (APV), episodes of atrial fibrillation (AF) in the post-operative period were the predictors of continuous hospital stay Conclusion. The degree of the increase in post-operative level of NT-proBNP does not depend on the perfusion temperature. NT-proBNP plasma concentration during first 24 hours after the surgery, age, COPD, maximum degree of CCF, duration of APV, episodes of AF in the post-operative period are independent predictors of continuous hospital stay.

In relation to clarifying the pathway of methane activation on In-modified zeolites, a comparative analysis of kinetics of hydrogen (H/D) exchange between methane-d4 and Bronsted acid sites (BAS) for both the pure acid form zeolite (H-ZSM-5) and In-modified zeolites (In+/H-ZSM-5 and InO+/H-ZSM-5) has been performed. Monitoring of the kinetics has been carried out with 1H magic-angle spinning NMR spectroscopy in situ within the temperature range of 453–568 K. While the rate of exchange on In+/H-ZSM-5 is 1 order of magnitude larger than that on H-ZSM-5, the exchange occurs on InO+/H-ZSM-5 by 2 orders of magnitude faster than that on H-ZSM-5. Significant increase of the rate and decrease of the activation energy (Ea = 74 ± 6 kJ mol–1) and the temperature threshold (453 K) for the reaction of the exchange on InO+/H-ZSM-5 compared to the rate, activation energy, and temperature threshold (543 K) for the reaction on In+/H-ZSM-5 (Ea = 127 ± 27 kJ mol–1) and H-ZSM-5 (Ea = 118 ± 9 kJ mol–1) have been rationalized ...

Methane activation pathways as well as methane involvement in the reaction of ethylene aromatization on In-modified H-ZSM-5 zeolite (In/H-ZSM-5) have been studied with solid-state NMR spectroscopy. The state of indium in In/H-ZSM-5 in dependence of the zeolite activation procedure, reductive or oxidative, has been analyzed with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). On the basis of 1H MAS NMR analysis of the evolution of the quantity of Bronsted acid sites (BAS) and XPS analysis of the state of indium in dependence of zeolite activation procedure, it has been inferred that indium exists in the form of either In+ or InO+ isolated cationic species in the zeolite. Methane interaction with different indium cationic species has been analyzed with 13C MAS NMR spectroscopy. In+ species has been concluded to be inactive, whereas InO+ species provides dissociative adsorption of methane to afford primarily the oxyindium–methyl species. Pulmonary haemorrhage is one of the most severe complications of pulmonary endarterectomy. To the most effective methods of combating this potentially fatal complication belongs extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). In this article we describe a clinical case report regarding intraoperative use of central veno-arterial ECMO for pulmonary haemorrhage following thromboendarterectomy from the pulmonary arteries. According to the data of some authors, long-term ECMO support (for more than 4 days) may lead to such severe consequences as rethrombosis of pulmonary arteries and impairment of cerebral circulation. In our case we managed to avoid such complications, taking into consideration that the duration of ECMO amounted to 21 days. Resulting from the carried out comprehensive therapeutic measures by the time of discharge from hospital, a significant decrease in pulmonary artery pressure was achieved, with events of residual pulmonary hypertension.Одним из самых тяжелых осложнений легочной эндартерэктомии является легочное кровотечение. К наиболее эффективным методам борьбы с этим фатальным осложнением относится экстракорпоральная мембранная оксигенация. В данной работе описывается клинический случай интраоперационного применения ЭКМО в центральном вено- артериальном варианте при легочном кровотечении после тромбэндартерэктомии из легочных артерий. По данным ряда авторов, длительное применение ЭКМО (более 4 суток) может привести к таким тяжелым последствиям как ретромбоз легочных артерий, нарушение мозгового кровотока. В нашем случае удалось избежать подобных осложнений, учитывая, что продолжительность ЭКМО составила 21 день. В результате проведенного комплекса лечебных мероприятий к моменту выписки из стационара было достигнуто значимое снижение давления в легочной артерии, с явлениями резидуальной легочной гипертензии.

With regard to a general interest in methane utilization in a rational way the activation and transformation of methane on Ag-modified zeolite ZSM-5 (Ag/H-ZSM-5) have been studied with solid-state NMR. The activation of methane occurs by dissociation of the C–H bond on silver cations via the “carbenium” pathway: methane C–H bond cleavage results in the methoxy groups (O–CH3) and possibly silver-hydride species (Ag–H). The formation of surface methoxy groups on Ag/H-ZSM-5 has been detected experimentally with 13C CP/MAS NMR at 508–623 K for the first time. A comparative analysis of the kinetics of the H/D exchange between methane and acid hydroxyl groups for H-ZSM-5 and Ag/H-ZSM-5 zeolites reveals a significant promoting effect of silver cations on the H/D exchange reaction and therefore on methane activation. The nuances of the application of schoolwide positive behavior supports (PBS) in an urban high school setting were investigated. Impact of implementation was measured using qualitative interviews and observations, including the School-wide Evaluation Tool (SET), Effective Behavior Support Survey, Student Climate Survey, and office disciplinary referrals. The results indicated that schoolwide PBS was implemented in an urban high school setting with some success. The overall level of implementation of PBS reached 80% as measured by the SET. Staff and teachers increased their level of perceived priority for implementing PBS in their school. A decrease in monthly discipline referrals to the office and the proportion of students who required secondary and tertiary supports was noted. These findings seem to indicate that PBS may be an important process for improving outcomes for teachers and students in urban high school settings.

Williams syndrome was first described in 1961 by J.C.P. Williams et al. The population frequency is 1:7500-10 000 live births; the ratio of boys and girls is about 1:1. The nature of this genetic disease is the loss of genetic material (microdeletion) of the long arm of chromosome 7. During microdeletion the loss of elastin, LIM-kinase-1 and replication factor C2 (RFC) genes occurs, some of the «lost» genes have not yet been identified. A more rare form of the syndrome exhibits deletions on chromosomes 11 and 12 - 11q13-q14, and 22q. Presented was the authors’ clinical observation. A child was born from the second pregnancy (the first one ended in miscarriage at 12 weeks of the term), which had a physiological course, first childbirth was given at the term of 40 weeks, the newborns body weight at birth was 2600 g, body length 49 cm. At 1 year 8 months the baby’s height was 80 cm, body weight was 10 kg 800 g, head circumference - 50 cm, chest circumference - 51 cm. Multiple stigmas of dysembryogenesis were present. The head was irregularly shaped, the large fontanelle was closed. A marked face dysmorphism: a broad forehead, the unusual shape of the eyes with swelling around them, epicanthal fold, drooping full cheeks, the characteristic shape of the nose with a rounded blunt end and anteriorly open nostrils, a small pointed chin, a large open mouth, full lips, especially the lower one, progeny, small teeth, jagged, and affected by caries. The thorax was narrow, a depressed sternum in the form of a «сobbler’s chest». The muscle tone was moderately reduced. The psychomotor development at the level of a 8-9 months old. Cardiologist’s conclusion: a congenital heart defect, hypoplasia of the isthmus of the aortic arch. Conclusion of the geneticist: multiple stigmas of dysembryogenesis, a characteristic phenotype. Karyological analysis 46,XY - without karyotype abnormalities. Chromatography of the amino acids - without any pathology. Diagnosis: Williams syndrome. Diagnosis of Williams syndrome sometimes possesses known difficulties. The described clinical case illustrates the possibilities of diagnosing the syndrome, based primarily on a careful analysis of the medical history, of the clinical picture and physical examination.

Purpose: Epidemiological studies of second cancer risk in radiotherapy patients often require individualized dose estimates of normal tissues. Prior to 3D conformal radiation therapy planning, patient anatomy information was mostly limited to 2D radiological images or not even available. Generic patient CT images are often used in commercial radiotherapy treatment planning system (TPS) to reconstruct normal tissue doses. The objective of the current work was to develop a series of reference size computational human phantoms in DICOM-RT format for direct use in dose reconstruction in TPS. Methods: Contours of 93 organs and tissues were extracted from a series of pediatric and adult hybrid computational human phantoms (newborn, 1-, 5-, 10-, 15-year-old, and adult males and females) using Rhinoceros software. A MATLAB script was created to convert the contours into the DICOM-RT structure format. The simulated CT images with the resolution of 1×1×3 mm3 were also generated from the binary phantom format and coupled with the DICOM-structure files. Accurate volumes of the organs were drawn in the format using precise delineation of the contours in converted format. Due to complex geometry of organs, higher resolution (1×1×1 mm3) was found to be more efficient in the conversion of newborn and 1-year-old phantoms. Results: Contour sets were efficiently converted into DICOM-RT structures in relatively short time (about 30 minutes for each phantom). Transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells, both at early and later stage after local exposure of rats source beta radiation dose, 90Sr/90Y 140 GR, stimulates recovery of damaged skin. Diminution area local radiation injuries and accelerate healing radiation ulcers. Clinically shows the high efficiency of the transplantations autologous mesenchymal stem cells in treatment of deep beam ulcers, intractable standard conservative treatment. Found promising application of mesenchymal stem cells for treatment of severe local radiation injuries and the need to develop the best possible conditions for their use.

The influence of multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MMSC), got from allogenic bone marrow, on local radiation injury in rats after beta-irradiation by a source 90Sr/90Y in a dose 140 Gy under various conditions and ways transplantation was studied. It was established, that transplantation MMSC, allocated on biodegradative membranes, which have been carried out for 21 day after an irradiation in conditions minor surgical of ulcers, resulted in reduction of the area of local beam defeats and acceleration of healing of skin, in comparison with the control of an irradiation. The introduction of suspension MMSC subcutaneous around of the center of a defeat at 8 day after an irradiation caused earlier healing of ulcers. It was concluded, that application of MMSC is perspective for treatment of local radiation injury and necessity of development of optimum conditions of their use at cell therapy of radiation injury of skin.

The purpose of this work was the study in experiments on mice of influence of mexidol on current and outcome of an acute radiation sickness. At an irradiation in a dose 6.0 Gy was studied a condition of hemopoietic system, and at an irradiation in a dose 7.7 Gy a survival rate of animals. In all experiments mexidol applied in two circuits of introduction. The first circuit - once per day with 1 for 8 day after the irradiation. The second circuit of introduction: with 1 for 5 day--two times per day and on 6-8 day once per day. The introduction of mexidol after influence of ionizing radiation reduces a degree of radiative defeat of bone marrow and promotes the activization post-radiation recovery of an erythropoiesis, neutrophilopoiesis in an bone marrow and lymphopoiesis in a thymus gland. This effect is more expressed at introduction mexidol two times per day. At influence of ionizing radiation in a dose 7.7 Gy has survived 56% of mice. The introduction of mexidol two times per day was enlarged by survival rate animal up to 94%. The application of mexidol once per day essentially did not influence on the survival rate of the irradiated mice. The received data show, that the introduction of mexidol with 1 for 8 day after an irradiation, frameing a favorable metabolic background, stimulates recovery processes in hemopoietic system, reduces gravity of a acute radiation sickness and by that enlarges the survival rate of the irradiated animals.

Experiments on mice were made to examine mexidol effects on the course and outcome of acute radiation sickness (ARS). Regenerative processes in hemopoietic system were studied after 6.0 Gy radiation, survival of the animals was studied in 7.7 Gy radiation. Mexidol was used in two schemes. Scheme one--once a day on days 1-8 after radiation. Scheme 2--twice a day on days 1-5, and once a day on days 6-8 after radiation. Administration of mexidol after exposure to ionizing radiation promotes activation of postradiation recovery of erythropoiesis, neutrophilopoiesis in bone marrow and lymphopoiesis in the thymus. This effect was stronger in mexidol administration twice a day. After ionizing radiation in a dose 7.7 Gy only 56% mice survived. Twice a day mexidol increased the survival to 94%. Once a day mexidol had insignificant effect on survival of mice. Thus, administration of mexidol on days 1-8 after radiation had a good effect on metabolism, stimulates regenerative processes in hemopoietic system, attenuates severity of ARS and increases survival of irradiated animals.

The emotional stress after an irradiation can complicate the current of radiative defeats. At an emotional stress developing in early terms after an irradiation in low doses, are reduced adaptive and compensator capabilities of hemopoietic system. The emotional stress after a lethal dose irradiation inhibits the post-radiation recovery of haemopoiesis, aggravates the course of acute radiation disease and decreases the efficiency of the radioprotector--indralin. These disorders are especially pronounced under a prolonged and intensive stress. The use of the mexidol, having anxiolytic and antistress by activity, made it possible to arrest completely disturbances in the development of adaptive reactions to stress in the blood system and to normalize its compensatory potentialities in animals under conditions of combined influence of intensive long-term emotional stress and of low-dose irradiation. In the case of lethally irraiated animals, the treatment of stressed animals with mexidol favorably influenced the course of acute radiation disease, enhanced recovery processes in the blood system. Under these conditions, the use of mexidol completely removes the negative effect of emotional stress in indralin-protected animals. The pharmacological correction by mexidol from displays of an intensive emotional stress, developing after an irradiation in various doses, can be a part in system of medical measures.

On lines of the mice genetically differing on the sensitivity on emotional stress (steady--of the mouse of the line C57BL/6 or sensitive--of the mouse of the line BALB/c), the research of the development of the adaptive reactions in the system of the blood on the emotional stress influencing animals on the background of the preliminary irradiation in a low dose (0.9 Gy) is carried out. The unirradiated mice of the line C57BL/6 adequately reacted on the stress, that was shown in a moderate behavioural reaction during the period of stress, and the development of high-grade adaptive reactions in the hemopoietic system. Among the mice of the line C57BL/6 in conditions of the combined influence of ionizing radiation and of the emotional stress was not revealed of the infringements of the adaptive reactions of the hemogenesis. As opposed to these data, among unirradiated mice of the line BALB/c the sharply expressed behavioural reactions during the stress were marked, that was accompanied by incomplete development of the adaptive reactions in the system of a blood on the stress. Under the influence of stress on the previously irradiated animal line BALB/c was observed the inhibition of the medullar hemopoiesis.

Emotional stress after radiation may aggravate the course of radiation-induced diseases. The use of the selective anxiolytic aphobazol (a drug from a mercaptobenzamidasol group) corrects development of adaptive reactions to stress in the blood system and normalizes its compensatory potentialities in animals under conditions of combined influence of intensive long-term emotional stress and low-dose irradiation. In lethally irradiated animals the treatment of stressed animals with aphobazol favourably influenced the course of acute radiation disease, enhanced recovery processes in the blood system, increased the animals' survival. The use of aphobazol completely removed a negative effect of emotional stress in indralin-protected animals. Thus, pharmacological correction of the emotional stress caused by different doses of radiation is not only a symptomatic but also a pathogenetically justified form of treatment.

Influence of prodigiozan in different concentrations on the process of postirradiation recovery of haemopoietic precursors (GM-CFC) and morphologically recognizable elements of the bone marrow were studied in long-term bone marrow cultures during 28 days after 2 Gy gamma-irradiation. Also, prodigiozan was studied for action on the contents of GM-CFC and induction of GM-CSF three, 24 and 48 hours after injection in cultures unexposed to radiation. It is shown that injection of prodigiozan in concentration 0.1-1.0 microg/ml 24 hours prior to irradiation stimulates postradiation recovery of GM-CFC number and a total number of myelocaryocytes in irradiation of long-term bone marrow cultures. In saved cultures there was an increase in the number of stromal cells 1 and 2 days after radiation. In non-exposed to radiation long-term bone marrow cultures injection of prodigiozan increased induction of GM-CSF and raised contents of GM-CFC. The maximal increase occurred 24 hours after introduction of radioprotector. It is suggested that one of the mechanisms of a radioprotective action of prodigiozan may be stimulation of hematopoietic microenvironment cellular elements leading to a marked release of GM-CSF or/and other cytokines and stimulation of recovery of hemopoietic precursors.

The influence of human interleukin-1 beta in different concentration on processes of postirradiation recovery of haemopoietic precursors (GM-CFC) and morphology of recognized elements of bone marrow were studied in long-term bone marrow cultures during 28 days after gamma-irradiation with a dose of 2 Gy. It was studied also the action of interleukin-1 beta on proliferation, the contents of GM-CFC and the induction of GM-CSF in non-irradiated cultures. It was shown that the injection of interleukin-1 beta increased proliferation and the content of GM-CFC and also raised an induction of GM-CSF in the non-irradiation cultures. The maximum increase of a level of GM-CSF, amount of GM-CFC and proliferation of GM-CFC was marked in 20 hours after the injection of cytokine. Under irradiation of long-term bone marrow cultures the maximum stimulation effect to recovery of GM-CFC, total number of myelocaryocytes and the content of immature and mature granulocytes were observed after the injection of interleukin-1 beta in concentration of 0.005 microgram/ml 20 hours prior to radiation exposure. The data of this report suggest that one of the mechanisms of radioprotective action of interleukin-1 beta apparently is connected with stimulation action on hematopoietic microenvironment cellular elements that causes the release of GM-CSF or/and other cytokines, and stimulation recovery of haemopoietic precursors.

Rats preliminary exposed to 0.9 Gy of ionizing radiation showed disturbances in the development of adaptive reactions of blood system to emotional stress, compensatory capacity of the blood system being decreased. A degree of the disturbances directly depended on the duration and intensity of the emotional stress: at the prolonged intensive emotional stress a sharp decrease in the adaptive and compensatory capacity of blood system was found; at short intensive or moderate stress the changes in the adaptive and compensatory capacity of hemopoiesis were less pronounced. A combined action of low-dose ionizing radiation and short weak emotional stress did non affect the adaptive and compensatory capacity of hemopoietic system.

A possibility to use tranquilizers (aphobazole, phenazepamum) for reducing symptoms of prolonged emotional stress influencing rats after irradiation under treatment with a radioprotector indralin was investigated. It was found that indralin showed the protective effect and activated regenerative processes in the hemopoietic system of animals exposed to doses of 6.0 and 7.0 Gy. The prolonged emotional stress developing in the early periods after the exposure, essentially reduced the favourable action of the radioprotector on restoration of hemopoiesis. The application of tranquilizers stopped the inhibiting action of the emotional stress on the hemopoietic system of the irradiated animals in conditions of radioprotective administering.

The paper analyzes the topical problems of radiobiology in the light of the present-day data on the molecular biology and biochemistry of p53 protein that is an integrator of stress signals from various damaging exposures and that fulfills the function of genome guard by regulating the checking points of a cellular cycle, DNA reparation, and apoptosis. It also considers the mechanisms of radiation cell death and radiosensitivity/radioresistance in the light of data on p53 protein, as well as the problems of searching for antiradiation agents, the radiation-induced instability of genome, the biological aftereffects of small-dose radiation, as well as radiation-induced carcinogenesis due to the important regulatory role of p53 protein. The lines of further studies of the above problems are outlined to refine the understanding of pathogenetic processes in radiation damages, to extend the therapeutic, diagnostic, predictive capacities of clinical radiobiology and radiation medicine.
