The (99m)Tc complex of NC100692 is being evaluated as a diagnostic agent for the detection of angiogenesis. In the present study, human urine samples from a clinical Phase I study were analysed using reversed-phase liquid chromatography coupled with an ion-trap mass spectrometer (LC-MS) in order to estimate the amount of intact NC100692 and any metabolites excreted in urine following intravenous injection of 150microg (99m)Tc-NC100692. Only intact NC100692 was observed in these urine samples, no metabolites were detected, in contrast to data earlier reported for rat urine where two metabolites and no NC100692 were observed. Within 4-8h after injection, 30+/-6% of the injected NC100692 was excreted in the urine, with the majority (23+/-5%) recovered within the first hour post-injection. There was good agreement between the calculated urinary recoveries of NC100692 and total radioactivity in urine samples voided approximately 1h post-injection. NC100692 constituting 98+/-24% of the total urinary (99m)Tc recovery indicating that the (99m)Tc excreted during this period was most likely excreted as (99m)Tc-NC100692. The ratio of NC100692 to (99m)Tc decreased in the urine samples as a function of time following injection for all subjects; this change is most likely due to reduced accuracy in the results at low levels of NC100692.

A PC-based system for thermoluminescent dosimetry in clinical use is described. In addition to providing accurate dosimetry, this system has the advantage of allowing permanent recording of the glow curves of the dosimeters, thus permitting the user to review the radiation response history of the dosimeter. >

The angular distributions of the differential cross sections and analyzing powers are presented for the /sup 12/C(p,..pi../sup +/)/sup 13/C( reaction leading to the ground state of /sup 13/C as well as some of the /sup 13/C( low-lying excited states. The analyzing powers for some of the transitions exhibit a considerable energy dependence while for other transitions they remain relatively unchanged, thus indicating a dynamic sensitivity of the analyzing power dependent on nuclear structure. Comparisons of theoretical predictions for A/sub N/0 and dsigma/d..cap omega.., based on microscopic two-nucleon models, with our results indicate that substantial differences between theory and experiment still exist for A(p,..pi../sup +/)A+1 type of reactions.

The absolute differential cross section for proton-proton elastic scattering has been measured at 90° c.m. for 300, 350, 400, 450 and 500 MeV. The statistical uncertainty of the measurements is 0.5% with an additional systematic normalization uncertainty of 1.8%. The results are compared to phase-shift analyses.

Analyzing power measurements of the pd → tπ+ reaction are reported at incident proton energies of 305, 330, 375 and 400 MeV over the angular range from 68° to 145.5° in the center of mass. The results are compared with earlier measurements obtained at 400 and 500 MeV. The analyzing power at 375 MeV exhibits a distribution unlike that observed at lower energies. The analyzing power at 400 MeV, and for large pion emission angles, is in significant disagreement with other results, for the same energy, reported in the literature.

Analyzing power measurements of the p → tτ + reaction are reported at incident proton energies of 277 and 500 MeV. The 277 MeV results span the angular range from 70° to 130° in the centre of mass while the two 500 MeV measurements at large angles were taken as a check of published results. With the angular distribution of the analyzing power at 277 MeV now known, it is possible to show that the energy dependence of the analyzing power exhibits characteristics closely resembling the shape and magnitude of the analyzing power distribution observed for 1p shell nuclei of similar excitation energies.

Angular distributions of the 6 Li (π + , 3 He ) 3 He differential cross section are presented for incident pion beam energies of 60, 80 and 100 MeV, together with a few values at 140 MeV. The results are compared with previously published data and two theoretical predictions. The 60, 80 and 100 MeV data, and previously published results for 15.4 MeV, were fit to Legendre polynomials. The fitted coefficients, which allow the energy dependence of the total and differential cross sections at a fixed c.m. angle to be determined, are also presented. These coefficients show the increasing importance of higher-order partial-waves with increasing pion energy.

Angular distributions of the differential cross sections for the pionic fission 6 Li (π + , 3 He ) 3 He have been measured at pion energies of 60 and 80 MeV. The differential cross section is found to decrease monotonically with cos 2 θ ∗ and is compared with a theoretical prediction.

The analyzing power A/sub N0/ of the pp..--> pi../sup +/d reaction was measured to a statistical precision of better than +- 0.01 at incident proton beam energies of 375, 450, and 500 MeV, for center-of-mass angles from 20/sup 0/ to 150/sup 0/. The polarization-dependent differential cross sections were fit by associated Legendre functions (using published data for the shapes of the unpolarized differential cross sections). The energy dependence of the resulting b/sub k//sup N0/ coefficients were compared with existing data and theoretical expectations.

The angular distributions of both the differential cross section and the analyzing power are presented for the sup10B(p\ensuremath{\rightarrow},\ensuremath{\pi}sup+) sup11B reaction leading to the ground and first excited states of sup11B. The differential cross section shows very little angular structure or energy dependence, but the analyzing power exhibits a considerable energy dependence for both states. This dependence, similar to that observed for the sup12C(p\ensuremath{\rightarrow},\ensuremath{\pi}sup+) sup13C reaction, may be a signature of the fact that single-particle final states are involved.

3He nuclei, produced from the 6 Li (π + , 3 He ) 3 He reaction, were detected with NE-102 plastic scintillator telescope. The relative light response of the scintillator to these nuclei is examined as a function of deposited energy ranging from 40 to 120 MeV.
