The present study reports the cloudy grouper, Epinephelus erythrurus for the first time from off Odisha coast. The species was confirmed by using morphometric analyses and COI gene sequencing. In this letter, for the first time, we propose a unified framework based on attentive cycle-generative adversarial network for the synthesis of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals from the seismocardiogram (SCG) signals. The proposed attentive cycle generative adversarial network exploits dual generators and dual discriminators to learn the pattern for the synthesis of ECG from SCG and vice versa. The proposed framework is evaluated on publicly available combined measurement of ECG, breathing and seismocardiogram (CEBS) database. Subjective visual analysis and objective performance metrics demonstrate that the proposed framework can accurately derive the ECG signal from SCG signal. Since, the SCG can be recorded using a wearable and non-adhesive modality, it can provide comfort to the patients by avoiding adhesive ECG electrodes. Shafts or circular cross-section beams are important parts of rotating systems and their geometries play important role in rotor dynamics. Hollow tapered shaft rotors with uniform thickness and uniform bore are considered. Critical speeds or whirling frequency conditions are computed using transfer matrix method and then the results were compared using finite element method. For particular shaft lengths and rotating speeds, response of the hollow tapered shaft-rotor system is determined for the establishment of dynamic characteristics. Sorption capacities of raw and calcined goethite-rich iron ore (GRI) collected from Datari iron-ore mines in Orissa for the removal of As and Se oxyanions were investigated in this study. Thermally treated GRI at 300 °C (GRI-300), having the maximum surface area (49.5 m2/g) and pore volume (0.028 cm3/g), showed maximum uptake of As(III), As(V) and Se(IV) oxyanions from their aqueous solutions, which progressively decreased when the pH of the solution is increased. At pH 6.0 (approximately), 2.0 g/l GRI-300 dose could remove more than 90% of As(III), As(V) and Se(IV) from their aqueous solutions containing 0.215, 0.265 and 20 mg/l amounts of the compound, respectively. The presence of co-existing ions showed a significant decrease in the uptake of oxyanions by GRI-300 in (PO43- > Cl- > NO3-). The present set of data may be helpful to further asses the potential of readily available GRI to remove different toxic ions from contaminated waters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present study was an attempt to find an alternative use for the leached residue generated after the selective extraction of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) ions during the reduction-roasting ammoniacal leaching of Indian Ocean sea nodules, so that the latter may be used as an adsorbent for the removal of phosphate ions from aqueous media. Physicochemical characterization revealed that the leached residue was a complex mixture of oxides of mainly manganese and iron along with MnCO3. Adsorption studies of the water-washed leached residue (WSNR), varying the pH, phosphate ion concentration, WSNR dosage, heat treatment and the presence of interfering anions in solution, indicated that phosphate (P) ion uptake increased with increasing heat-treatment temperature and pH, to attain a maximum value at 400 °C and a pH value of ca. 5.0, but thereafter decreased on increasing the heat-treatment temperature and pH further. The adsorption data were best fitted by the Freundlich isotherm model. Desorption studies showed that > 90% of the adsorbed phosphate ions could be desorbed from WSNR after stirring at pH ≥⃒ 10.0 for 2 h. The results obtained could be useful in a consideration of the use of WSNR as an adsorbent for the removal of phosphate ions from contaminated water bodies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
