Nonlinear acoustics has been a topic of research for more than 250 years. Driven by a wide range and a large number of highly relevant industrial and medical applications, this area has expanded enormously in the last few decades. Das Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es, Weyl-Titchmarsh-Kodaira Theorie für eindimensionale Dirac Operatoren mit stark singulären Potentialen zu entwickeln. Insbesondere werden wir zeigen, wie man in diesem Fall eine (singuläre) Weyl Funktion definieren kann. Weiters werden wir eine zugehörige Spektraltransformation angeben, die unseren eindimensionalen Dirac Operator auf einen Multiplikationsoperator abbildet, und zeigen, wie man die wesentlichen Träger für die Lebesgue Zerlegung des Spektralmaßes aus dem Randverhalten der singulären Weyl Funktion erhalten kann. Darüberhinaus werden wir eine Integraldarstellung für die singuläre Weyl Funktion ableiten und ein Kriterium angeben, wann sie eine verallgemeinerte Nevanlinna Funktion ist. Liegt am Endpunkt a der Grenzkreisfall vor, so wird sich zeigen, dass die singuläre Weyl Funktion eine Herglotz–Nevanlinna Funktion ist. Schließlich werden wir einige unserer Resultate auf ein typisches Beispiel eines Dirac Operators mit einem stark singulären Potential anwenden, nämlich auf den radialen Dirac Operator mit Coulomb Potential, der ein Elektron im elektromagnetischen Feld eines punktförmigen Kerns beschreibt., The objective of the present work is to develop Weyl-Titchmarsh-Kodaira theory for one-dimensional Dirac operators with strongly singular potentials. In particular, we will show how to define a (singular) Weyl function in this case. Furthermore, we will establish an associated spectral transformation which maps our one-dimensional Dirac operator to a multiplication operator and we will show how the essential supports for the Lebesgue decomposition of the spectral measure can be obtained from the boundary behavior of the singular Weyl function. Moreover, we will derive an integral representation for the singular Weyl function and give a criterion when it is a generalized Nevanlinna function. If the endpoint a is limit circle, the singular Weyl function will turn out to be a Herglotz-Nevanlinna function. Finally, we will apply some of our results to a prototypical example of a Dirac operator with a strongly singular potential, namely the radial Dirac operator with a Coulomb potential which describes an electron in the electromagnetic field of a point nucleus.

Die vorliegende Arbeit dient der mathematischen Untersuchung der Blackstock-Crighton Gleichung, welche ein Modell zur Beschreibung der Ausbreitung nichtlinearer akustischer Wellen in monoatomischen Gasen ist. Es handelt sich dabei um eine nichtlineare partielle Differentialgleichung vierter Ordnung. Wir betrachten die Blackstock-Crighton Gleichung mit gegebenen Anfangs- und Randdaten, wobei wir homogene und inhomogene Dirichlet- als auch inhomogene Neumann-Randbedingungen zulassen werden. Für jedes dieser Anfangsrandwertprobleme werden wir Wohlgestelltheit - also die Existenz einer eindeutigen Lösung sowie deren stetige Abhängigkeit von den Anfangs- und Randdaten - zeigen sowie das Langzeitverhalten von Lösungen untersuchen. Allgemein bilden Resultate betreffend die Wohlgestelltheit eines Problems eine wichtige Grundlage für fundierte und verlässliche numerische Simulationen. Für die Analysis einer nichtlinearen partiellen Differentialgleichung ist es zunächst wichtig das zugehörige linearisierte Problem zu verstehen. Zu diesem Zweck werden in dieser Arbeit einerseits Operatorhalbgruppen und Energieabschätzungen verwendet. Andererseits kommt die Methode der maximalen Lp-Regularität zum Einsatz, mit Hilfe derer wir optimale Regularität für die linearisierten, inhomogenen Dirichlet- und Neumannprobleme erhalten. Mit optimaler Regularität ist gemeint, dass die Regularität der Anfangs- und Randdaten nicht nur hinreichend, sondern auch notwendig für die Regularität der eindeutigen Lösung ist. Basierend auf den Resultaten für das zugehörige lineare Problem wird das ursprüngliche nichtlineare Problem für die Blackstock-Crighton Gleichung behandelt. Dies geschieht einerseits unter Verwendung des Banach'schen Fixpunktsatzes oder - für den Fall, dass optimale Regularität für das linearisierte Problem vorliegt - mit Hilfe des Satzes über implizite Funktionen. Wir erhalten globale Wohlgestelltheit für das Dirichlet-Randwertproblem. Selbiges gilt für Neumann-Randbedingungen, allerdings nur wenn die Daten mittelwertfrei sind. Anderenfalls zeigen wir hier nur lokale Wohlgestelltheit. Aus den Resultaten über globale Wohlgestelltheit folgern wir, dass die Lösung des Problems exponentiell gegen Null abklingt, wenn die Zeit gegen unendlich strebt., The present work provides a mathematical analysis of the Blackstock-Crighton equation which is a model governing the propagation of nonlinear acoustic waves in monatomic gases. It is a nonlinear partial differential equation of fourth order. We consider the Blackstock-Crighton equation together with given initial and boundary data, where we admit homogeneous and inhomogeneous Dirichlet as well as inhomogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. For all of these initial boundary value problems we will show well-posedness, that is, existence of a unique solution and its continuous dependence on the initial and boundary data, and investigate the long-time behavior of solutions. In general, results on well-posedness of a problem are an important basis for scientifically sound and reliable numerical simulations. For the analysis of a nonlinear partial differential equation it is first of all important to understand the corresponding linearized problem. For this purpose, in the present work we will on one hand use operator semigroups and energy estimates. On the other hand, we will employ the method of maximal Lp-regularity which allows us to prove optimal regularity for the inhomogeneous Dirichlet and Neumann problems. Optimal regularity means that the regularity of the initial and boundary data is not only sufficient, but also necessary for the regularity of the unique solution. Based on the results of the associated linear problem the original nonlinear problem for the Blackstock-Crighton equation is treated. This is on one hand done using Banach's Fixed-Point Theorem or - in case the linearized problem admits optimal regularity - by means of the Implicit Function Theorem. We obtain global well-posedness for the Dirichlet boundary value problem. The same holds for Neumann boundary conditions as long as the data have zero mean. Otherwise we only show local well-posedness in the Neumann case.
