Its primary active metabolite, O-desmethyltramadol (M1), is mainly responsible for its μ-opioid receptor-related analgesic effect. Tramadol is metabolized to M1 mainly by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2D6 enzyme, and to other metabolites by CYP3A4 and CYP2B6. The aim of this study was to develop a population pharmacokinetic (PK) model of tramadol and its metabolite using healthy Korean subjects.Methods: Data on plasma concentrations of tramadol and M1 were obtained from 23 healthy Korean male subjects after a twice-daily oral dose of 100 mg of tramadol, every 12 hrs, for a total of 5 times. Blood samples were collected at 0 (pre-dose), 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hrs after last administration. Plasma tramadol concentrations were then analyzed using LC/MS. Population PK analysis of tramadol and its metabolite was performed using a nonlinear mixed-effects modeling (NONMEM).Results: A one-compartment model with combined first-order and zero-order absorption was well fitted to the concentration–time curve of tramadol. M1 was well described by the one-compartment model as an extension of the parent drug (tramadol) model. Genetic polymorphisms of CYP2D6 correlated with the clearance of tramadol, and clearance from the central compartment to the metabolite compartment.Conclusion: The parent-metabolite model successfully characterized the PK of tramadol and its metabolite M1 in healthy Korean male subjects. Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) catalyses the rate-limiting step of heme degradation to biliverdin, which is in turn reduced to bilirubin, CO and free iron. HO-1 can be induced by several harmful stimuli including oxidative stress, and it has a protective role against the cytotoxicity in different cells. 1-Methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridinium (MPP(+)) is a neurotoxic substance that induces the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons. This study examined whether HO-1 can be induced by MPP(+) and whether HO-1 has a protective role against the MPP(+)-induced cytotoxicity in PC-12 cells. MPP(+) triggered a relatively rapid induction of HO-1. The MPP(+)-induced cytotoxicity and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production markedly increased by HO-1 inhibitor, zinc protoporphyrin-IX (ZnPP-IX). The increase of ROS production by ZnPP-IX was completely abrogated by either two products of HO (biliverdin or bilirubin) while the increase of cytotoxicity by ZnPP-IX was attenuated partially. Background: Current guidelines recommend dual anti-platelet therapy, aspirin and clopidogrel, for patients treated with drug-eluting stent for coronary heart disease. In a few small trials, addition of cilostazol on dual anti-platelet therapy (triple anti-platelet therapy) showed better late luminal loss. In the real-world unselected patients with coronary heart disease, however, the effect of cilostazol on platelet reactivity and ischemic vascular events after drug-eluting stent implantation has not been tested. It is also controversial whether there is a significant interaction between lipophilic statin and clopidogrel.Methods/design: CILON-T trial was a prospective, randomized, open-label, multi-center, near-all-comer trial to demonstrate the superiority of triple anti-platelet therapy to dual anti-platelet therapy in reducing 6 months' major adverse cardiovascular/cerebrovascular events, composite of cardiac death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, target lesion revascularization and ischemic stroke. It also tested whether triple anti-platelet therapy is superior to dual anti-platelet therapy in inhibiting platelet reactivity in patients receiving percutaneous coronary intervention with drug-eluting stent. Total 960 patients were randomized to receive either dual anti-platelet therapy or triple anti-platelet therapy for 6 months and also, randomly stratified to either lipophilic statin (atorvastatin) or non-lipophilic statin (rosuvastatin) indefinitely. Secondary endpoints included all components of major adverse cardiovascular/cerebrovascular events, platelet reactivity as assessed by VerifyNow P2Y12 assay, effect of statin on major adverse cardiovascular/cerebrovascular events, bleeding complications, and albumin-to-creatinine ratio to test the nephroprotective effect of cilostazol. Major adverse cardiovascular/cerebrovascular events will also be checked at 1, 2, and 3 years to test the 'legacy' effect of triple anti-platelet therapy that was prescribed for only 6 months after percutaneous coronary intervention.Discussion: CILON-T trial will give powerful insight into whether triple anti-platelet therapy is superior to dual anti-platelet therapy in reducing ischemic events and platelet reactivity in the real-world unselected patients treated with drug-eluting stent for coronary heart disease. Miltefosine is the first and only drug approved for the treatment of leishmaniasis. It is also known as a PI3K/AKT signaling pathway inhibitor utilized in anti-cancer or anti-viral therapies. However, the impact of miltefosine on male fertility has not been fully understood. Therefore, this study was performed to investigate the effects of miltefosine on sperm function during capacitation. Duroc spermatozoa were exposed to 0, 2.5, 5, 10, 20, 40, and 80μM miltefosine and induced for capacitation. Our results showed that miltefosine dramatically increased the expression of PI3K/AKT signaling pathway-associated proteins. Sperm motility, motion kinetics, capacitation, and tyrosine phosphorylation were significantly suppressed by miltefosine. However, intracellular ATP levels and cell viability were not significantly affected. Our findings suggest that miltefosine may disrupt sperm function by abnormally increasing the levels of PI3K/AKT signaling pathway-associated proteins. In combination with cell-intrinsic properties, interactions in the tumor microenvironment modulate therapeutic response. We leveraged single-cell spatial transcriptomics to dissect the remodeling of multicellular neighborhoods and cell-cell interactions in human pancreatic cancer associated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy. We developed spatially constrained optimal transport interaction analysis (SCOTIA), an optimal transport model with a cost function that includes both spatial distance and ligand-receptor gene expression. Our results uncovered a marked change in ligand-receptor interactions between cancer-associated fibroblasts and malignant cells in response to treatment, which was supported by orthogonal datasets, including an ex vivo tumoroid coculture system. We identified enrichment in interleukin-6 family signaling that functionally confers resistance to chemotherapy. Overall, this study demonstrates that characterization of the tumor microenvironment using single-cell spatial transcriptomics allows for the identification of molecular interactions that may play a role in the emergence of therapeutic resistance and offers a spatially based analysis framework that can be broadly applied to other contexts., (© 2024. Existing research has underscored the vital interplay between host organisms and their associated microbiomes, which affects health and function. In both plants and animals, host factors critically shape microbial communities and influence growth, health, and immunity. Post-harvest plants, such as those used in kimchi, a traditional Korean dish, offer a unique avenue for exploring host-microbe dynamics during fermentation. Despite the emphasis on lactic acid bacteria (LAB) in fermentation studies, the roles of host factors remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate the influence of these factors on plant transcriptomes during kimchi fermentation. We individually inoculated nine LAB strains into germ-free kimchi to generate LAB-mono-associated gnotobiotic kimchi and performed RNA-sequencing analysis for the host vegetables during fermentation. The transcriptomes of post-harvest vegetables in kimchi change over time, and microbes affect the transcriptome profiles of vegetables. Differentially expressed gene analyses revealed that microbes affected the temporal expression profiles of several genes in the plant transcriptomes in unique directions depending on the introduced LAB strains. Cluster analysis with other publicly available transcriptomes of post-harvest vegetables and fruits further revealed that the plant transcriptome is more profoundly influenced by the environment harboring the host than by host phylogeny. Our results bridge the gap in understanding the bidirectional relationship between host vegetables and microbes during food fermentation, illuminating the complex interplay between vegetable transcriptomes, fermentative microbes, and the fermentation process in food production. Background: The average glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) may not accurately reflect glycemic control status during the mid-term after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). We aimed to evaluate changes in HbA1c and their effect on mid-term clinical outcomes in patients with diabetes and AMI., Methods: We enrolled patients with diabetes ( n  = 967) who underwent HbA1c measurement in the Korean nationwide registry. These patients were categorized into three groups based on changes in HbA1c from index admission to the 1-year follow-up visit: a decrease in HbA1c > 1%, changes in HbA1c within 1%, and an increase in HbA1c > 1%. Clinical outcomes at 24 months were examined., Results: The baseline HbA1c levels were 8.55 ± 0.85, 7.00 ± 0.98 and 7.07 ± 1.05 ( P  = 0.001) and HbA1c levels after 1 year were 6.62 ± 0.73, 7.05 ± 0.98 and 9.26 ± 1.59 ( P  = 0.001) for patients with 3 groups, respectively. Patients with a 1% decrease in HbA1c had significantly lower incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), cardiac death, and rehospitalization after 24 months than those with a 1% increase in HbA1c. However, in the Cox regression analysis, a >1% decrease in HbA1c change was not an independent factor for MACE, cardiac death, and rehospitalization., Conclusions: Our analysis indicates that an HbA1c decrease of >1% within the first 12 months was not an independent prognostic factor until the 24-month mark. Oridonin, a natural terpenoid isolated from the leaves of Isodon rubescens (Hemsley) H.Hara, is widely used in oriental medicine for its anticancer properties across various cancer types. Despite its prevalent use, the toxic effects of oridonin on male reproduction, particularly its impact on sperm functions and the mechanisms involved, are not well understood. This study aimed to explore the effects and underlying mechanisms of oridonin on sperm functions. We initially treated Duroc boar spermatozoa with varying concentrations of oridonin (0, 5, 50, 75, 100, and 150 µM) and incubated them to induce capacitation. We then assessed cell viability and several sperm functions, including sperm motility and motion kinematics, capacitation status, and ATP levels. We also analyzed the expression levels of proteins associated with the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/phosphoinositide-dependent kinase-1 (PDK1)/protein kinase B (AKT) signaling pathway and phosphotyrosine proteins. Our results indicate that oridonin adversely affects most sperm functions in a dose-dependent manner. We observed significant decreases in AKT, p-AKT (Thr308), phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN), p-PDK1, and p-PI3K levels following oridonin treatment, alongside an abnormal increase in phosphotyrosine proteins. These findings suggest that oridonin may disrupt normal levels of tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins by inhibiting the PI3K/PDK1/AKT signaling pathway, which is crucial for cell proliferation, metabolism, and apoptosis, thus potentially harming sperm functions. Background and Aims: In patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with aspirin and a potent P2Y12 inhibitor is recommended for 12 months after drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation. Monotherapy with a potent P2Y12 inhibitor after short-term DAPT is an attractive option to better balance the risks of ischaemia and bleeding. Therefore, this study evaluated the efficacy and safety of ticagrelor monotherapy after short-term DAPT, especially in patients with ACS., Methods: Electronic databases were searched from inception to 11 November 2023, and for the primary analysis, individual patient data were pooled from the relevant randomized clinical trials comparing ticagrelor monotherapy after short-term (≤3 months) DAPT with ticagrelor-based 12-month DAPT, exclusively in ACS patients undergoing DES implantation. The co-primary endpoints were ischaemic endpoint (composite of all-cause death, myocardial infarction, or stroke) and bleeding endpoint [Bleeding Academic Research Consortium (BARC) type 3 or 5 bleeding] at 1 year., Results: Individual patient data from two randomized clinical trials including 5906 ACS patients were analysed. At 1 year, the primary ischaemic endpoint did not differ between the ticagrelor monotherapy and ticagrelor-based DAPT groups [1.9% vs. 2.5%; adjusted hazard ratio (HR) 0.79; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.56-1.13; P = .194]. The incidence of the primary bleeding endpoint was lower in the ticagrelor monotherapy group (2.4% vs. 4.5%; adjusted HR 0.54; 95% CI 0.40-0.72; P < .001). The results were consistent in a secondary aggregate data meta-analysis including the ACS subgroup of additional randomized clinical trials which enrolled patients with ACS as well as chronic coronary syndrome., Conclusions: In ACS patients undergoing DES implantation, ticagrelor monotherapy after short-term DAPT was associated with less major bleeding without a concomitant increase in ischaemic events compared with ticagrelor-based 12-month DAPT., Study Registration: PROSPERO (ID: CRD42023476470)., (© The Author(s) 2024. Background: Artificial intelligence-based quantitative coronary angiography (AI-QCA) has been developed to provide a more objective and reproducible data about the severity of coronary artery stenosis and the dimensions of the vessel for intervention in real-time, overcoming the limitations of significant inter- and intraobserver variability, and time-consuming nature of on-site QCA, without requiring extra time and effort. Compared with the subjective nature of visually estimated conventional CAG guidance, AI-QCA guidance provides a more practical and standardized angiography-based approach. Although the advantage of intravascular imaging-guided PCI is increasingly recognized, their broader adoption is limited by clinical and economic barriers in many catheterization laboratories., Methods: The FLASH (fully automated quantitative coronary angiography versus optical coherence tomography guidance for coronary stent implantation) trial is a randomized, investigator-initiated, multicenter, open-label, noninferiority trial comparing the AI-QCA-assisted PCI strategy with optical coherence tomography-guided PCI strategy in patients with significant coronary artery disease. All operators will utilize a novel, standardized AI-QCA software and PCI protocol in the AI-QCA-assisted group. A total of 400 patients will be randomized to either group at a 1:1 ratio. The primary endpoint is the minimal stent area (mm 2 ), determined by the final OCT run after completion of PCI. Clinical follow-up and cost-effectiveness evaluations are planned at 1 month and 6 months for all patients enrolled in the study., Results: Enrollment of a total of 400 patients from the 13 participating centers in South Korea will be completed in February 2024. Background: Patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) tend to be excluded or under-represented in randomized clinical trials evaluating the effects of potent P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy after short-term dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT)., Methods: Individual patient data were pooled from randomized clinical trials that included STEMI patients undergoing drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation and compared ticagrelor monotherapy after short-term (≤3 months) DAPT versus ticagrelor-based 12-month DAPT in terms of centrally adjudicated clinical outcomes. The co-primary outcomes were efficacy outcome (composite of all-cause death, myocardial infarction, or stroke) and safety outcome (Bleeding Academic Research Consortium type 3 or 5 bleeding) at 1 year., Findings: The pooled cohort contained 2,253 patients with STEMI. The incidence of the primary efficacy outcome did not differ between the ticagrelor monotherapy group and the ticagrelor-based DAPT group (1.8% versus 2.0%; hazard ratio [HR] = 0.88; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.49-1.61; p = 0.684). There was no difference in cardiac death between the groups (0.6% versus 0.7%; HR = 0.89; 95% CI = 0.32-2.46; p = 0.822). The incidence of the primary safety outcome was significantly lower in the ticagrelor monotherapy group (2.3% versus 4.0%; HR = 0.56; 95% CI = 0.35-0.92; p = 0.020). No heterogeneity of treatment effects was observed for the primary outcomes across subgroups., Conclusions: In patients with STEMI treated with DES implantation, ticagrelor monotherapy after short-term DAPT was associated with lower major bleeding without an increase in the risk of ischemic events compared with ticagrelor-based 12-month DAPT. Nirmatrelvir (NMV) is a recently developed selective inhibitor of the main protease of Sars-Cov-2 that reduces the severity of infection. Despite its widespread use and various side effects, NMV's effect on male fertility is still unclear. This study was thus established to investigate how NMV affects male fertility. For experiments, Duroc spermatozoa were incubated with various concentrations of NMV (0, 0.1, 1, 10, 50, and 100 μM). Then, sperm motility, motion kinematics, capacitation status, intracellular ATP level, and cell viability were evaluated. In addition, the expression levels of phospho-PKA substrates, tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins, and PI3K/PDK1/AKT signaling pathway-related proteins were measured by western blotting. Our results showed that sperm motility, motion kinematics, proportion of capacitated spermatozoa, and intracellular ATP level were significantly decreased by NMV in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, PKA activation was significantly suppressed by NMV, and expression levels of PI3K, phospho-PDK1, AKT, and phospho-AKT (Thr 308 and Ser 473 ) were significantly increased in a dose-dependent manner. Combining these findings, it is suggested that NMV has detrimental effects on sperm function by inducing abnormal changes in the PI3K/PDK1/AKT signaling pathway, resulting in PKA deactivation. Background: Limited data exist regarding the prognostic implications of N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) in patients with non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) who undergo percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)., Methods and results: Of 13,104 patients in the nationwide Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry-National Institutes of Health, 3,083 patients with NSTEMI who underwent PCI were included in the present study. The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) at 3 years, a composite of all-cause death, recurrent myocardial infarction, unplanned repeat revascularization, and admission for heart failure. NT-proBNP was measured at the time of initial presentation for the management of NSTEMI, and patients were divided into a low (<700 pg/mL; n=1,813) and high (≥700 pg/mL; n=1,270) NT-proBNP group. The high NT-proBNP group had a significantly higher risk of MACE, driven primarily by a higher risk of cardiac death or admission for heart failure. These results were consistent after confounder adjustment by propensity score matching and inverse probability weighting analysis., Conclusions: In patients with NSTEMI who underwent PCI, an initial elevated NT-proBNP concentration was associated with higher risk of MACE at 3 years, driven primarily by higher risks of cardiac death or admission for heart failure. These results suggest that the initial NT-proBNP concentration may have a clinically significant prognostic value in NSTEMI patients undergoing PCI.

Aims: Although culprit-only revascularization during the index procedure has been recommended in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) complicated by cardiogenic shock (CS), the reduction in residual ischaemia is also emphasized to improve clinical outcomes. However, few data are available about the significance of residual ischaemia in patients undergoing mechanical circulatory supports. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of residual ischaemia on clinical outcomes in patients with AMI undergoing venoarterial-extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO)., Methods and Results: Patients with AMI with multivessel disease who underwent VA-ECMO due to refractory CS were pooled from the RESCUE and SMC-ECMO registries. The included patients were classified into three groups according to residual ischaemia evaluated using the residual Synergy between percutaneous coronary intervention with Taxus and Cardiac Surgery (SYNTAX) score (rSS): rSS = 0, 0 < rSS ≤ 8, and rSS > 8. The primary outcome was 1-year all-cause death. A total of 408 patients were classified into the rSS = 0 (n = 100, 24.5%), 0 < rSS ≤ 8 (n = 136, 33.3%), and rSS > 8 (n = 172, 42.2%) groups. The cumulative incidence of the primary outcome differed significantly according to rSS (33.9 vs. 55.4 vs. 66.1% for rSS = 0, 0 < rSS ≤ 8, and rSS > 8, respectively, overall P < 0.001). In a multivariable model, rSS was independently associated with the risk of 1-year all-cause death (adjusted hazard ratio 1.03, 95% confidence interval 1.01-1.05, P = 0.003). Conversely, the baseline SYNTAX score was not associated with the risk of the primary outcome. Furthermore, when patients were stratified by rSS, the primary outcome did not differ significantly between the high and low delta SYNTAX score groups., Conclusion: In patients with AMI with refractory CS who underwent VA-ECMO, residual ischaemia was associated with an increased risk of 1-year mortality. Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) has been established as the standard of care in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) based on landmark randomized controlled trials. Nevertheless, while the strict eligibility of EVT for AIS patients restrict the wide application of EVT, a considerable population still undergoes off-label EVT. Besides, it is important to acknowledge that recanalization is not achieved in approximately 20% of procedures, and more than 50% of patients who undergo EVT still do not experience a favorable outcome. This article reviews the brief history of EVT trials and recent progressions in the treatment of AIS, with focusing on the expanding eligibility criteria, new target for EVT, and the evolution of EVT techniques.

Ethylene oxide (E.O) is an epoxide compound, and it has been utilized as a sterilizer or production of ether compounds in several industries. Although the toxic effects of E.O on bacteria and mammals have been reported, its effects on male reproductive toxicity during sperm capacitation are not fully understood. Therefore, this study was designed to evaluate the effects of E.O exposure during sperm capacitation. Boar spermatozoa were treated with various E.O concentrations (0, 0.1, 1, 10, and 100 μМ). After exposure, sperm motility, motion kinematics, capacitation status, intracellular ATP levels, cell viability, expression levels of protein kinase A (PKA) activation, and tyrosine phosphorylation were evaluated. Results revealed that E.O exposure significantly decreased sperm motility, motion kinematics, and intracellular ATP levels but significantly increased the capacitated spermatozoa. In addition, the PKA activation and tyrosine phosphorylation were abnormally changed. According to our results, E.O may cause toxic effects on sperm function during capacitation, which induces male reproductive toxicity. Pesticides serve as essential tools in agriculture and public health, aiding in pest control and disease management. However, their widespread use has prompted concerns regarding their adverse effects on humans and animals. This review offers a comprehensive examination of the toxicity profile of pesticides, focusing on their detrimental impacts on the nervous, hepatic, cardiac, and pulmonary systems, and their impact on reproductive functions. Additionally, it discusses how pesticides mimic hormones, thereby inducing dysfunction in the endocrine system. Pesticides disrupt the endocrine system, leading to neurological impairments, hepatocellular abnormalities, cardiac dysfunction, and respiratory issues. Furthermore, they also exert adverse effects on reproductive organs, disrupting hormone levels and causing reproductive dysfunction. Mechanistically, pesticides interfere with neurotransmitter function, enzyme activity, and hormone regulation. This review highlights the effects of pesticides on male reproduction, particularly sperm capacitation, the process wherein ejaculated sperm undergo physiological changes within the female reproductive tract, acquiring the ability to fertilize an oocyte. Pesticides have been reported to inhibit the morphological changes crucial for sperm capacitation, resulting in poor sperm capacitation and eventual male infertility. Background: There are limited clinical data on drug-coated balloon (DCB)-based percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) compared with drug-eluting stent (DES)-only PCI in patients with complex coronary artery lesions., Objectives: The goal of the current study was to investigate the efficacy of DCB in patients undergoing PCI for complex coronary artery lesions., Methods: From an institutional registry of patients with de novo complex coronary artery lesions, 126 patients treated with DCB-based PCI were compared with 234 propensity score-matched patients treated with DES-only PCI. Complex coronary artery lesions were defined as the presence of at least 1 of the following: bifurcation, chronic total occlusion, unprotected left main disease, long lesion ≥38 mm, multivessel disease, lesion requiring ≥3 devices, or severe calcification. The primary endpoint was target vessel failure (TVF) at 2 years, a composite of cardiac death, target vessel-related myocardial infarction, and target vessel revascularization., Results: Baseline characteristics were comparable between the 2 groups. DCB-based PCI showed a comparable risk of TVF vs DES-based PCI (7.6% vs 8.1%; HR: 0.81; 95% CI: 0.33-1.99; P  = 0.638). The risks of cardiac death (5.0% vs 5.7%; HR: 0.78; 95% CI: 0.24-2.49), target vessel-related myocardial infarction (0.9% vs 1.3%; HR: 2.65; 95% CI: 0.26-27.06), and target vessel revascularization (3.5% vs 2.0%; HR: 1.30; 95% CI: 0.30-5.67) were also comparable between the 2 groups., Conclusions: DCB-based PCI showed comparable risks of TVF vs those of DES-only PCI in patients with complex coronary artery lesions. Background: Long-term follow-up is essential to evaluate the impact of polymer degradation in drug-eluting stents (DES)., Aims: We aimed to compare durable-polymer DES (DP-DES) and biodegradable-polymer DES (BP-DES) during a 3-year follow-up to evaluate the entire period of polymer resolution (before, during, and after degradation)., Methods: The HOST REDUCE POLYTECH RCT Trial was a randomised clinical trial enrolling patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and comparing the efficacy and safety of DP-DES and BP-DES. The primary outcome was a patient-oriented composite outcome (POCO), and the key secondary outcome was a device-oriented composite outcome (DOCO)., Results: A total of 3,413 ACS patients were randomised to either the DP-DES (1,713 patients) or BP-DES (1,700 patients) group. During the 3-year follow-up, the risk of the POCO was similar between the DP-DES and BP-DES groups (14.8% vs 15.4%, hazard ratio [HR] 0.96, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.80-1.14; p=0.613). However, the risk of the DOCO was lower in the DP-DES group (6.0% vs 8.0%, HR 0.73, 95% CI: 0.57-0.95; p=0.020). In a landmark analysis, the lower risk of the DOCO for the DP-DES group was evident during the transition from the early to the late period after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) (from 8 to 16 months post-PCI; 1.8% vs 3.3%, HR 0.54, 95% CI: 0.34-0.84; p=0.007), which was mainly driven by a risk reduction of target lesion revascularisation., Conclusions: In ACS patients, DP-DES showed similar results to BP-DES regarding the POCO up to 3 years. For the DOCO, DP-DES were superior to BP-DES; this was due to the higher event rate during the period of polymer degradation.

Osteochondral tissue is a highly specialized and complex tissue composed of articular cartilage and subchondral bone that are separated by a calcified cartilage interface. Multilayered or gradient scaffolds, often in conjunction with stem cells and growth factors, have been developed to mimic the respective layers for osteochondral defect repair. In this study, we designed a hyaline cartilage-hypertrophic cartilage bilayer graft (RGD/RGDW) with chondrocytes. Previously, we demonstrated that RGD peptide-modified chondroitin sulfate cryogel (RGD group) is chondro-conductive and capable of hyaline cartilage formation. Here, we incorporated whitlockite (WH), a Mg 2+ -containing calcium phosphate, into RGD cryogel (RGDW group) to induce chondrocyte hypertrophy and form collagen X-rich hypertrophic cartilage. This is the first study to use WH to produce hypertrophic cartilage. Chondrocytes-laden RGDW cryogel exhibited significantly upregulated expression of hypertrophy markers in vitro and formed ectopic hypertrophic cartilage in vivo , which mineralized into calcified cartilage in bone microenvironment. Subsequently, RGD cryogel and RGDW cryogel were combined into bilayer (RGD/RGDW group) and implanted into rabbit osteochondral defect, where RGD layer supports hyaline cartilage regeneration and bioceramic-containing RGDW layer promotes calcified cartilage formation. Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of irbesartan (IRB) and amlodipine (AML) combination therapy in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure (BP) was not controlled by IRB monotherapy., Methods: Two multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase III studies were conducted in Korea (the I-DUO 301 study and the I-DUO 302 study). After a 4-week run-in period with either 150 mg IRB (I-DUO 301 study) or 300 mg IRB (I-DUO 302 study), patients with uncontrolled BP (ie, mean sitting systolic BP [MSSBP] ≥140 mmHg to <180 mmHg and mean sitting diastolic BP <110 mmHg) were randomized to the placebo, AML 5 mg, or AML 10 mg group. A total of 428 participants were enrolled in the 2 I-DUO studies. In the I-DUO 301 study, 271 participants were randomized in a 1:1:1 ratio to receive either IRB/AML 150/5 mg, IRB/AML 150/10 mg, or IRB 150 mg/placebo. In the I-DUO 302 study, 157 participants were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive IRB/AML 300/5 mg or IRB 300 mg/placebo. The primary endpoint was the change in MSSBP from baseline to week 8. Tolerability was assessed according to the development of treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) and clinically significant changes in physical examination, laboratory tests, pulse, and 12-lead electrocardiography., Findings: In I-DUO 301, the mean (SD) changes of MSSBP at week 8 from baseline were -14.78 (12.35) mmHg, -21.47 (12.78) mmHg, and -8.61 (12.19) mmHg in the IRB/AML 150/5 mg, IRB/AML 150/10 mg, and IRB 150 mg/placebo groups, respectively. In I-DUO 302, the mean (SD) changes of MSSBP at week 8 from baseline were -13.30 (12.47) mmHg and -7.19 (15.37) mmHg in the IRB/AML 300/5 mg and IRB 300 mg/placebo groups, respectively. In both studies, all combination groups showed a significantly higher reduction in MSSBP than the IRB monotherapy groups (P < 0.001 for both). TEAEs occurred in 10.00%, 10.99%, and 12.22% of participants in the IRB/AML 150/5 mg, IRB/AML 150/10 mg, and IRB 150 mg/placebo groups, respectively, in I-DUO 301 and in 6.33% and 10.67% of participants in the IRB/AML 300/5 mg and IRB 300 mg/placebo groups, respectively, in I-DUO 302, with no significant between-group differences. Introduction and Objectives: The association of revascularization strategy with clinical outcomes according to the ischemic territory of nonculprit lesion has not been documented in patients with acute myocardial infarction complicated by cardiogenic shock (AMI-CS). This study aimed to compare outcomes between culprit-only and immediate multivessel percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) according to ischemic territory in patients with AMI-CS., Methods: A total of 536 patients with AMI-CS and multivessel disease from the SMART-RESCUE registry were categorized according to ischemic territory (nonculprit left main/proximal left anterior descending artery [LM/pLAD] vs culprit LM/pLAD vs no LM/pLAD). The primary outcome was a patient-oriented composite endpoint (POCE) consisting of all-cause death, myocardial infarction, rehospitalization due to heart failure, or repeat revascularization at 1 year., Results: Among the total population, 108 patients had nonculprit LM/pLAD, 228 patients had culprit LM/pLAD, and 200 patients had no LM/pLAD, with the risk of POCE being higher in patients with large ischemic territory lesions (53.6% vs 53.4% vs 39.6%; P = .02). Multivessel PCI was associated with a significantly lower risk of POCE compared with culprit-only PCI in patients with nonculprit LM/pLAD (40.7% vs 66.9%; HR, 0.52; 95%CI, 0.29-0.91; P=.02), but not in those with culprit LM/pLAD (P=.46) or no LM/pLAD (P=.47). A significant interaction existed between revascularization strategy and large nonculprit ischemic territory (P=.03)., Conclusions: Large ischemic territory involvement was associated with worse clinical outcomes in patients with AMI-CS and multivessel disease. Background: Lipid-lowering therapies are mainstays in reducing recurrence after acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Evolocumab, a Proprotein convertase subtilisin-kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitor, is a promising lipid-lowering agent known to decrease LDL cholesterol and mitigate vascular events alongside statins. However, its effects on the early functional outcomes post-mechanical thrombectomy (MT) remain unclear. This study aimed to assess the short-term effects and incidence of bleeding events after the early, off-label use of PCSK9 inhibitors in AIS patients undergoing MT., Methods: We retrospectively analyzed patients who had MT at a Regional Stroke Center from December 2018 to April 2023. Our primary outcome was discharge functional outcomes. Secondary outcomes included early neurologic deterioration (END), symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH), 3-month functional outcomes, 3-month recurrence rate, and lipid profiles., Results: Of 261 patients (mean age 69.2 ± 11.7, men 42.9%), 42 were administered evolocumab peri-procedurally. While baseline characteristics were similar between the two groups, evolocumab group demonstrated improved discharge outcomes, with a lower mean NIHSS (8.8 ± 6.8 vs. 12.4 ± 9.8, p  = 0.02) and a higher percentage of patients with discharge mRS ≤ 3 (52.4% vs. 35.6%, p  = 0.041). The 3-month follow-up show a non-significant trend toward an improved outcome in the evolocumab group. Multivariable analysis indicated that evolocumab had a potential impact on favorable discharge outcomes (aOR 1.98[0.94-4.22] for mRS ≤ 3 and 0.47[0.27-0.84] for lower ordinal mRS). Notably, evolocuamb users exhibited fewer instances of END and sICH, although they do not reach statistical significance. Additionally, the evolocumab group demonstrated potential benefits in LDL cholesterol reduction over time., Conclusion: Early use of evolocumab in AIS patients undergoing MT appeared to be safe and associated with better early functional outcomes. Objectives: To assess the association of primary and third doses of vaccination with the risk of post-acute sequelae of COVID-19., Methods: This retrospective cohort study utilized a combined database of nationwide health care claims data, COVID-19 patient registry, and vaccination records from South Korea. Individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 in the Omicron variant-dominant period of January-March 2022 were tracked for 30-120 days post-infection. The exposure of interest was the receipt of primary and third doses of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. The occurrence of 26 specific conditions in eight domains was compared using Cox regression with inverse probability of treatment weighting., Results: This study included 394 773 unvaccinated individuals and 7 604 081 individuals receiving ≥2 doses of vaccine. Compared with unvaccinated individuals, vaccination with at least two doses was associated with a reduced risk (adjusted hazard ratio; 95% CI) of several conditions, including ischaemic heart disease (0.73; 0.57-0.94), heart failure (0.55; 0.48-0.63), cardiac dysrhythmia (0.72; 0.61-0.85), cardiac arrest (0.41; 0.33-0.51), pulmonary embolism (0.66; 0.52-0.84), venous thromboembolism (0.54; 0.44-0.66), acute renal failure (0.56; 0.46-0.67), new dialysis (0.45; 0.34-0.59), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (0.74; 0.65-0.84), acute pancreatitis (0.64; 0.51-0.80), and diabetes (0.82; 0.71-0.95). The risks of heart failure, cardiac dysrhythmias, cardiac arrest, pulmonary embolism, and new dialysis were lower in those who were vaccinated with three doses compared with those who were vaccinated with two doses., Discussion: Vaccination was associated with a decreased risk of post-acute sequelae of COVID-19, suggesting its potential role in mitigating the indirect impacts of COVID-19., (Copyright © 2024 European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. Venlafaxine, a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and panic disorder. Venlafaxine is metabolized to the active metabolite desvenlafaxine mainly by CYP2D6. Genetic polymorphism of CYP2D6 and coadministration with other medications can significantly affect the pharmacokinetics and/or pharmacodynamics of venlafaxine and its active metabolite. This study aimed to establish the PBPK models of venlafaxine and its active metabolite related to CYP2D6 genetic polymorphism and to predict drug-drug interactions (DDIs) with clarithromycin and paroxetine in different CYP2D6 genotypes. Clinical pharmacogenomic data for venlafaxine and desvenlafaxine were collected to build the PBPK model. Physicochemical and absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) characteristics of respective compounds were obtained from previously reported data, predicted by the PK-Sim ® software, or optimized to capture the plasma concentration-time profiles. Model evaluation was performed by comparing the predicted pharmacokinetic parameters and plasma concentration-time profiles to the observed data. Predicted plasma concentration-time profiles of venlafaxine and its active metabolite were visually similar to the observed profiles and all predicted AUC and C max values for respective compounds were included in the twofold error range of observed values in non-genotyped populations and different CYP2D6 genotypes. When clarithromycin or clarithromycin plus paroxetine was concomitantly administered, predicted plasma concentration-time profiles of venlafaxine properly captured the observed profiles in two different CYP2D6 genotypes and all predicted DDI ratios for AUC and C max were included within the acceptance range. Consequently, the present model successfully captured the pharmacokinetic alterations of venlafaxine and its active metabolite according to CYP2D6 genetic polymorphism as well as the DDIs between venlafaxine and two CYP inhibitors. The present model can be used to predict the pharmacokinetics of venlafaxine and its active metabolite considering different races, ages, coadministered drugs, and CYP2D6 activity of individuals and it can contribute to individualized pharmacotherapy of venlafaxine., (© 2024. Background and Purpose: In young patients (aged 18-60 years) with patent foramen ovale (PFO)-associated stroke, percutaneous closure has been found to be useful for preventing recurrent ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). However, it remains unknown whether PFO closure is also beneficial in older patients., Methods: Patients aged ≥60 years who had a cryptogenic stroke and PFO from ten hospitals in South Korea were included. The effect of PFO closure plus medical therapy over medical therapy alone was assessed by a propensity-score matching method in the overall cohort and in those with a high-risk PFO, characterized by the presence of an atrial septal aneurysm or a large shunt., Results: Out of the 437 patients (mean age, 68.1), 303 (69%) had a high-risk PFO and 161 (37%) patients underwent PFO closure. Over a median follow-up of 3.9 years, recurrent ischemic stroke or TIA developed in 64 (14.6%) patients. In the propensity score-matched cohort of the overall patients (130 pairs), PFO closure was associated with a significantly lower risk of a composite of ischemic stroke or TIA (hazard ratio [HR]: 0.45; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.24-0.84; P=0.012), but not for ischemic stroke. In a subgroup analysis of confined to the high-risk PFO patients (116 pairs), PFO closure was associated with significantly lower risks of both the composite of ischemic stroke or TIA (HR: 0.40; 95% CI: 0.21-0.77; P=0.006) and ischemic stroke (HR: 0.47; 95% CI: 0.23-0.95; P=0.035)., Conclusion: Elderly patients with cryptogenic stroke and PFO have a high recurrence rate of ischemic stroke or TIA, which may be significantly reduced by device closure.

Background and Objectives: Accumulating evidence shows that sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) reduce adverse cardiovascular outcomes. However, whether SGLT2i, compared with other antidiabetic drugs, reduce the new development of atrial fibrillation (AF) is unclear. In this study, we compared SGLT2i with dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP-4is) in terms of reduction in the risk of AF in individuals with type 2 diabetes., Methods: We included 42,786 propensity score-matched pairs of SGLT2i and DPP-4i users without previous AF diagnosis using the Korean National Health Insurance Service database between May 1, 2016, and December 31, 2018., Results: During a median follow-up of 1.3 years, SGLT2i users had a lower incidence of AF than DPP-4i users (1.95 vs. 2.65 per 1,000 person-years; hazard ratio [HR], 0.73; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.55-0.97; p=0.028]). In individuals without heart failure, SGLT2i users was associated with a decreased risk of AF incidence (HR, 0.70; 95% CI, 0.52-0.94; p=0.019) compared to DPP-4i users. Background: Little is known about the association between seasonal variation and prognosis in patients with CS caused by AMI., Objectives: We investigated the 12-month clinical outcomes in patients treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) complicated by cardiogenic shock (CS) according to season., Methods: A total of 695 patients undergoing PCI for AMI complicated by CS was enrolled from 12 centers in South Korea. The study patients were divided into four groups according to season in which the AMI with CS occurred (spring, n = 178 vs. summer, n = 155 vs. autumn, n = 182 vs. winter, n = 180). We compared major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs; the composite of cardiac death, myocardial infarction, re-hospitalization due to heart failure, and any revascularization) between the four groups., Results: The risk of MACE during the 12 months after CS was similar in the four groups: spring, 68 patients, vs. summer, 69, vs. autumn, 73, vs. winter, 68 ( p  = 0.587). Multivariate Cox-regression analysis revealed no significant difference in 12-month MACE among groups compared to the spring group after inverse probability of treatment weighting adjustment (summer, HR 1.40, 95 % CI 0.98-1.99, p  = 0.062; autumn, HR 1.26, 95 % CI 0.89-1.80, p  = 0.193; winter, HR 1.18, 95 % CI 0.83-1.67, p  = 0.356). The similarity of MACE between the four groups was consistent across a variety of subgroups., Conclusions: After adjusting for baseline differences, seasonal variation seems not to influence the mid-term risk of 12-month MACE in patients treated with PCI for AMI complicated by CS., Condensed Abstract: Data are limited regarding the association between seasonal variation and prognosis in patients with cardiogenic shock (CS) caused by AMI. This study divided patients undergoing PCI for AMI complicated by CS into four groups based on the season of occurrence and found no significant differences in 12-month MACE between the groups after adjusting for bias and confounding factors. Multivariate analysis revealed consistent MACE similarity across subgroups. Introduction and Objectives: There are no clinical data on the efficacy of intravascular imaging-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) compared with angiography-guided PCI in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and cardiogenic shock. The current study sought to evaluate the impact of intravascular imaging-guided PCI in patients with AMI and cardiogenic shock., Methods: Among a total of 28 732 patients from the nationwide pooled registry of KAMIR-NIH (November, 2011 to December, 2015) and KAMIR-V (January, 2016 to June, 2020), we selected a total of 1833 patients (6.4%) with AMI and cardiogenic shock who underwent PCI of the culprit vessel. The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) at 1 year, a composite of cardiac death, myocardial infarction, repeat revascularization, and definite or probable stent thrombosis., Results: Among the study population, 375 patients (20.5%) underwent intravascular imaging-guided PCI and 1458 patients (79.5%) underwent angiography-guided PCI. Intravascular imaging-guided PCI was associated with a significantly lower risk of 1-year MACE than angiography-guided PCI (19.5% vs 28.2%; HR, 0.59; 95%CI, 0.45-0.77; P<.001), mainly driven by a lower risk of cardiac death (13.7% vs 24.0%; adjusted HR, 0.53; 95%CI, 0.39-0.72; P<.001). These results were consistent in propensity score matching (HR, 0.68; 95%CI, 0.46-0.99), inverse probability weighting (HR, 0.61; 95%CI, 0.45-0.83), and Bayesian analysis (Odds ratio, 0.66, 95% credible interval, 0.49-0.88)., Conclusions: In AMI patients with cardiogenic shock, intravascular imaging-guided PCI was associated with a lower risk of MACE at 1-year than angiography-guided PCI, mainly driven by the lower risk of cardiac death., (Copyright © 2024 Sociedad Española de Cardiología. Background and Objectives: Concerns remain that early aspirin cessation may be associated with potential harm in subsets at high risk of ischemic events. This study aimed to assess the effects of P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy after 3-month dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) vs. prolonged DAPT (12-month or longer) based on the ischemic risk stratification, the CHADS-P2A2RC, after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)., Methods: This was a sub-study of the SMART-CHOICE trial. The effect of the randomized antiplatelet strategies was assessed across 3 CHADS-P2A2RC risk score categories. The primary outcome was a major adverse cardiac and cerebral event (MACCE), a composite of all-cause death, myocardial infarction, or stroke., Results: Up to 3 years, the high CHADS-P2A2RC risk score group had the highest incidence of MACCE (105 [12.1%], adjusted hazard ratio [HR], 2.927; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.358-6.309; p=0.006) followed by moderate-risk (40 [1.4%], adjusted HR, 1.786; 95% CI, 0.868-3.674; p=0.115) and low-risk (9 [0.5%], reference). In secondary analyses, P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy reduced the Bleeding Academic Research Consortium (BARC) types 2, 3, or 5 bleeding without increasing the risk of MACCE as compared with prolonged DAPT across the 3 CHADS-P2A2RC risk strata without significant interaction term (interaction p for MACCE=0.705 and interaction p for BARC types 2, 3, or 5 bleeding=0.055)., Conclusions: The CHADS-P2A2RC risk score is valuable in discriminating high-ischemic-risk patients. The phenylpyrazole insecticide fipronil has wide-ranging applications from agriculture to public health to control undesirable organisms. However, several studies have reported the residual environmental hazards of fipronil and demonstrated its harmful effects even in mammalian reproduction. Therefore, this study was conducted to demonstrate the mode of action of fipronil on mouse spermatozoa. We treated fipronil to spermatozoa and performed comprehensive function evaluations. Moreover, proteomic analyses were conducted to identify the alteration of protein expression levels in spermatozoa. Most of sperm motility and kinematic parameters and intracellular ATP levels were diminished, and the spontaneous acrosome reaction was promoted after treatment with fipronil. Proteomic analyses revealed altered expression levels of 14 proteins after treatment. These proteins have been reported to be associated with sperm-specific pathways, prominently the cytoskeleton of the sperm, "9 + 2" axoneme composition, metabolism, and fertility. Collectively, our results showed that fipronil alters sperm functional-related proteins and therefore influences male fertility. The selection of superior sires is paramount for enhancing the efficiency of animal production in the livestock industry. However, semen quality assessment still relies on conventional semen analysis techniques in both animals and humans. Despite extensive efforts to develop various biomarkers for more accurate and precise predictions of male fertility potential, more effective physiological indicators and advance potential biomarkers are needed. Herein, we aimed to develop new potential biomarkers related to sperm motion kinematics for male fertility prediction. We first evaluated sperm motion kinematic parameters and expression levels of sperm motility-related proteins of 30 Duroc boars. We then explored the correlation between litter size, sperm motion kinematics parameters, and sperm motility-related proteins. Progressive sperm motility (%), rapid sperm motility (%), slow sperm motility (%), straight-line velocity (μm/s), linearity (%), beat cross frequency (Hz), mean angular displacement (degree), wobble (%) were correlated with litter size. Furthermore, the expression of axonemal dynein light intermediate polypeptide 1 (DNALI1) and radial spoke head protein 9 homolog (RSPH9) correlated with litter size. The overall accuracy exceeded 60% for predicting litter size using these sperm motion parameters and proteins. Notably, our study observed an increase in litter size after predicting litter size using these parameters and proteins. Thus, sperm motion kinematic parameters and protein expression, particularly of DNALI1 and RSPH9, could serve as new biomarkers for male fertility. Avobenzone (AVO), an ultraviolet (UV) filter, is frequently used as an ingredient in personal cosmetics. This UV filter has been found to be easily exposed in swimming pools and beaches, and it has been detected in human urine and blood. Moreover, numerous studies have demonstrated that AVO exhibits endocrine-disrupting properties. Nevertheless, the effects of AVO on male fertility have not yet fully understood. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the effects of AVO on various sperm functions during capacitation. First, boar spermatozoa were treated with various AVO concentrations. After treatment, sperm motility and kinetic characteristics, capacitation status, intracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) levels, and sperm viability were evaluated. Moreover, Western blot analysis w.as conducted to evaluate protein kinase A (PKA) activity and tyrosine phosphorylation. As a result, AVO treatment significantly decreased total motility, progressive motility, and several kinetic characteristics at high concentrations (50 and 100 μM). Furthermore, the capacitation status dose-dependently decreased. Conversely, no significant differences in acrosome reaction, cell viability, and intracellular ATP levels were observed. However, the intracellular ATP level tended to decrease. In addition, AVO dose-dependently induced abnormal changes in PKA activity and tyrosine phosphorylation. Although AVO did not directly exert a toxic effect on cell viability, it ultimately negatively affected sperm functions through abnormal alterations in PKA activity and tyrosine phosphorylation. The clinical impact of different polymer technologies in newer-generation drug-eluting stents (DESs) for patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) complicated by cardiogenic shock (CS) remains poorly understood. We investigated the efficacy and safety of durable polymer DESs (DP-DESs) compared with biodegradable polymer DESs (BP-DESs). A total of 620 patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention with newer-generation DESs for AMI complicated by CS was divided into two groups based on polymer technology: the DP-DES group (n = 374) and the BP-DES group (n = 246). The primary outcome was target vessel failure (TVF) during a 12-month follow-up, defined as a composite of cardiac death, myocardial infarction, or target vessel revascularization. Both the DP-DES and BP-DES groups exhibited low stent thrombosis rates (1.3% vs. 1.6%, p = 0.660). The risk of TVF did not significantly differ between the two groups (34.2% vs. 28.5%, hazard ratio [HR] 0.94, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.69-1.29, p = 0.721). This finding remained consistent after adjustment with inverse probability of treatment weighting (28.1% vs. 25.1%, HR 0.98, 95% CI 0.77-1.27, p = 0.899). In AMI patients complicated by CS, the risk of a composite of cardiac death, myocardial infarction, or target vessel revascularization was not significantly different between those treated with DP-DESs and those treated with BP-DESs.Trial registration: RESCUE registry, https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02985008 , NCT02985008., (© 2024. The effect of sigma-phase precipitation on plastic anisotropy of the equiatomic CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloy was investigated. Annealing at 700 °C after cold-rolling leads to the formation of the Cr-rich σ phase with a fraction of 2.7%. It is experimentally found that the planar anisotropy (∆ r = -0.16) of the CoCrFeMnNi alloy annealed at 700 °C is two times lower than that of the alloy annealed at 800 °C (∆ r = -0.35). This observation was further supported by measuring the earing profile of cup specimens after the deep drawing process. The plastic strain ratio, normal anisotropy, and planar anisotropy were also predicted using the visco-plastic self-consistent model. The results indirectly indicated that the reduction of plastic anisotropy in alloy annealed at 700 °C can be attributed to the formation of the σ phase.
