As the number of high net-worth individuals in Asia explodes, with an estimated collective assets in excess of $6.19 trillion, there is a growing demand for private banking as well. The prevailing opportunities for Asia's wealth managers to manage all the financial and personal matters of the super rich are evaluated.

Hong Kong has missed an opportunity to raise its market regulatory standards to meet global best practice. Supervision of the stock exchange could undermine Hong Kong's credibility as a well-regulated market to raise funds, and thus expose investment banks, brokers and companies might benefit in the short run as a result, and both investors and the City's reputation could suffer irreparable damage.
