The capture of gaseous iodine has been deeply studied for trying to mitigate the dangers of nuclear power energy. The UiO family of metal–organic framework (MOF) materials is considered as one of the best candidates for such purposes since it couples high specific surface areas, facility to be chemically modified, great iodine adsorption capacity, and good stability under nuclear accidents conditions. UiO-66 was profoundly evaluated in several works for trapping I2by using different linkers and metal contents. A transformation of the I2molecule into I3–inside such porous systems was verified in other studies and is yet to be better elucidated. The comprehension of this transformation can improve the materials used to capture iodine species and guarantee a better stabilization of such pollutants in the long term. For this reason, three UiO-67_NH2samples with different metal contents (Zr, Zr/Hf, and Hf) were employed to capture iodine, and the signature of the different species was evaluated using Raman spectroscopy mappings in and out of resonance conditions (λex= 515, 633, and 785 nm). The UiO-67_NH2(Hf) compound demonstrated the best adsorption capacity after 48 h of contact with gaseous I2under room temperature, capturing 3428 g·mol–1of iodine. The other two samples, UiO-67_NH2(Zr/Hf) and UiO-67_NH2(Zr), adsorbed 2835 g·mol–1and 1658 g·mol–1in the same conditions, respectively. The I2transformation into I3–was confirmed by the presence of bands related to “perturbed” I2and I3–at about 170 and 107 cm–1, respectively. The Raman mapping demonstrated that both the monometallic UiO-67_NH2samples displayed a homogeneous distribution of the two species after 48 h of contact with the iodine gas flow, whereas the bimetallic sample exhibited zones with different concentrations of I2and I3–. This effect was related to the I2diffusion process through the UiO-67_NH2crystallites, which could be faster in the monometallic UiO-67_NH2samples because of their smaller crystal size (ϕ ≈ 44 μm and ϕ ≈ 51 μm for UiO-67_NH2(Hf) and UiO-67_NH2(Zr), respectively) when compared to the UiO-67_NH2(Zr/Hf) sample (ϕ ≈ 140 μm). This paper shows the spatial distribution of I2and I3–along the crystals of UiO-67_NH2materials and correlates this data with the diffusion process of both species, improving the comprehension of the mechanism responsible for iodine conversion and stabilization in UiO materials.

US-guided treatment of the trigger finger by using a 21-gauge needle is feasible in current practice, with minimal immediate or late complications; complete resolution of the trigger finger was achieved in 96.7% (58 of 60) of cases after 6 months.

La graisse n’est pas un simple tissu de comblement. En plus de son rôle de réserve énergique et de son implication dans des mécanismes hormonaux, elle possède dans certaines zones du corps des propriétés mécaniques sous-estimées. Ainsi, au niveau du genou, la graisse antérieure, qui présente une anatomie plus complexe qu’il n’y paraît, doit résister à d’importantes forces de cisaillement et de compression. Lorsque ces contraintes mécaniques dépassent les limites physiologiques, on observera des lésions spécifiques peu connues. La graisse superficielle est ainsi un site de dissection « aiguë » appelé décollement de Morel-Lavallée, ou subit un clivage plus complexe, moins franc en cas de cisaillement chronique, aboutissant à la formation d’une « néo-bursite » ou « hygroma ». La graisse antérieure profonde se décompose en 3 « matelas » principaux intracapsulaires mais extrasynoviaux : le corps adipeux infrapatellaire (CAiP) ou graisse de Hoffa, le matelas suprapatellaire et enfin le matelas préfémoral ou supratrochléen. Le CAiP de Hoffa joue un rôle mécanique important en servant « d’amortisseur » et de « guide » au tendon patellaire et même à la patella lors des mouvements de flexion-extension. Lorsque les contraintes répétées sur cette structure anatomique deviennent trop importantes, elle réagit dans un premier temps par une réaction inflammatoire et une augmentation de volume, puis peut secondairement se « métaplasier » en tissu fibreux, voire en cartilage ou en os. De façon plus rare, les deux autres matelas graisseux profonds (suprapatellaire et supratrochléen) peuvent également, suite à des contraintes répétées, subir le même type de remaniement inflammatoire et évoluer vers une métaplasie en un tissu plus « dur », avec comme corollaire une douleur antérieure et une limitation fonctionnelle.

L’articulation du genou est une des régions anatomiques les plus explorées en imagerie. La découverte d’une anomalie osseuse, en rapport ou non avec la symptomatologie ayant motivé l’examen, est extrêmement fréquente. L’objectif de ce travail est de présenter une revue iconographique des pathologies osseuses les plus fréquentes du genou. Rappelons d’emblée que l’IRM doit toujours être interprétée en ayant la connaissance de la clinique, de la biologie et des clichés standard.

L’exploration d’une « tuméfaction ou masse du poignet ou de la main » est un exercice fréquent dans notre activité quotidienne. Dans la plupart des cas, le couple radiologie standard et échographie suffit au diagnostic, les kystes du poignet étant de loin la pathologie la plus fréquente. Le recours aux autres modalités d’imagerie, et en particulier à l’IRM, est indispensable pour l’exploration des tumeurs, bien que les tumeurs malignes de la main soient exceptionnelles. Certaines tumeurs bénignes ont des caractéristiques pathognomoniques en imagerie, leur connaissance permet d’améliorer leur prise en charge.

Les infiltrations sous guidage échographique connaissent ces dernières années un essor important. La main est un site idéal pour ce type de geste en raison de son anatomie complexe et du caractère superficiel des cibles potentielles. À condition de respecter quelques principes de bases (asepsie stricte, patient et médecin bien installés, suivi de la pointe de l’aiguille en temps réel, repérage consciencieux des nerfs et des vaisseaux), il sera possible à l’opérateur entraîné d’infiltrer à peu près « tout et n’importe quoi ». Après vous avoir livré quelques astuces utiles (comme le « gel pad » ou l’angulation des aiguilles), nous décrirons les gestes les plus fréquemment réalisés aux doigts et aux poignets : infiltration des doigts à ressaut, des rhizarthroses, des ténosynovites de De Quervain, des canaux carpiens, etc. Enfin, nous aborderons les modifications que ce type de procédures peuvent induire dans les relations avec vos correspondants : « l’échographiste » qui pratique ces gestes n’est plus seulement un « imageur » mais devient un « thérapeute » et empiète sur des domaines de compétences appartenant traditionnellement à la rhumatologie, à la rééducation fonctionnelle ou même à la chirurgie de la main.

La pathologie des extenseurs des doigts longs bénéficie essentiellement des avancées technologiques de l’échographie, dont la résolution spatiale facilite considérablement le diagnostic. La connaissance précise de l’anatomie tendineuse des doigts longs et des signes cliniques est indispensable pour établir un diagnostic et permettre la prise en charge correcte des patients.

Le système fléchisseur des doigts, constitué par les tendons fléchisseurs et les poulies digitales, est l’élément anatomique clé de la fonction de préhension. Les sportifs et les travailleurs manuels sont particulièrement exposés aux traumatismes fermés de l’appareil fléchisseur : rupture des poulies, rupture distale du tendon fléchisseur profond (« jersey finger »), plus rarement rupture du fléchisseur superficiel ou des muscles lombricaux. Les traumatismes ouverts sont plus polymorphes et leur bilan en imagerie est complexe : plusieurs sections tendineuses possibles, localisations non standardisées, lésions nerveuses et vasculaires associées, fibrose… L’échographie est le prolongement idéal de l’examen clinique, permettant le plus souvent à un opérateur entraîné de réaliser un diagnostic précis et précoce, essentiel à une prise en charge initiale adaptée.

ABSTRACTVibrio parahaemolyticusis the leading bacterial cause of food-borne illness due to the consumption of contaminated seafood. The aim of the present study was to determine the population of its subtypes and establish a better understanding of the various types of V. parahaemolyticusstrains that are causing human illness in Canada. The subtypes for 100 human clinical isolates of V. parahaemolyticuscollected between 2000 and 2009 were determined by performing serotyping, ribotyping, pulsed-field gel electrophoresis, and multilocus sequence typing. Within this panel of strains, there was a high level of diversity (between 22 and 53 subtypes per method), but the presence of predominant clones with congruent subtypes between the various methods was also observed. For example, all 32 isolates belonging to sequence type 36 (ST36) were from serogroup O4, while 31 of them were ribotype EcoVib235-287, and 24 of the 32 were SfiI pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) pattern VPSF1.0001. With regard to the presence of known virulence genes, 74 of the 100 isolates were PCR positive for the presence of the thermostable direct hemolysin (tdh); and 59 of these 74 strains also contained the second virulence marker, the tdh-related hemolysin (trh). The detection of trhwas more predominant (81%) among the clinical isolates, and only four (4%) of the clinical isolates tested negative for the presence of both tdhand trh. This database, comprising 100 clinical isolates of V. parahaemolyticusstrains from Canada, forms a baseline understanding of subtype diversity for future source attribution and other epidemiologic studies.

A procedure has been carried out previously to separate the aqueous phase and the lipidic lamellae from multilamellar liposomes (Bakouche and Gerlier, Analyt. Biochem.,1983, 130, 379). This procedure consisted in multiple short bursts of sonication at a temperature below the transition temperature (Tm) of the lowest melting component followed by an ultracentrifugation. The aqueous phase and the lipidic lamellae were recovered in the supernatant and in the pellet respectively. This procedure was adapted for unilamellar vesicles by modifying the second step of the procedure. A suspension of unilamellar liposomes containing 5,6-carboxyfluorescein (5,6-CF) as a probe for the aqueous phase was disrupted by sonication at low temperature. After gel nitration on to a Sephadex G100 column, the phospholipid bilayers were readily separated from the aqueous probe 5,6-CF. Such a procedure should allow the localization of any item within the unilamellar liposome compartments.

DAB389IL-2 is a recombinant fusion toxin composed of the diphtheria A chain and a portion of the translocating region of the diphtheria B chain, replacing the receptor binding domain with human IL-2. DAB389IL-2 can be safely administered to humans with mycosis fungoides (MF) or Sezary syndrome (SS), and antineoplastic effects occur. This agent binds optimally to the high-affinity IL-2R. The decreased efficiency of uptake by neoplastic cells which do not express the high-affinity IL-2R represents a potential limitation. Treatment of the HUT-78 cutaneous T-cell lymphoma with IL-1αpreceding exposure to DAB389IL-2 overcame their resistance to the toxin, IL-1αinducing high-affinity IL-2R expression. Similarly, pre-treatment with IL-1αof SS patient lymphocytes demonstrated increased cytotoxicity compared to treatment with the fusion toxin alone. Normal lymphocytes and monocytes were not sensitive to DAB389IL-2 when pretreated with IL-1α, suggesting a differential sensitivity which may be exploited clinically in the treatment of lymphomas.
