Colloidal synthesis of two-dimensional lead halide perovskite nanoplatelets (2D LHP NPLs) with a general formula of L-2[APbX(3)](n-1)PbX4 has been widely performed by using hot-injection or ligand assisted reprecipitation methods. Herein, for the first time, we report on seed-mediated synthesis of two and three monolayers (n=2, 3) lead halide perovskite nanoplatelets without using A-site cation halide salt (AX; A=Cesium, methylammonium, formamidinium and, X=Cl, Br, I) and long chain alkylammonium halide salts (LX; L=oleylammonium, octylammonium, butylammonium and, X=Cl, Br, I). The nanocrystal seeds have been prepared by reacting lead (II) halide salt and coordinating ligands in a nonpolar solvent and then they have been reacted with cesium oleate, formamidinium oleate or methylamine. Our facile synthesis route enabling further understanding of the growth dynamics of LHP NPLs provides highly stable, monodisperse NPLs with very narrow absorption and emission linewidths (min. 68 meV), and high PLQY (max. 37.6%).

Background: Youth with ASD are at risk to develop low self-esteem, which is related to both co-occurring internalizing- and externalizing problems. In this RCT (N=24) we aimed to test the efficacy of Competitive Memory Training (COMET) for low self-esteem in youth with ASD (8-16y). Method: We compared the combination of COMET and Care As Usual (COMET+CAU) with CAU-only, to explore whether COMET had additional effects on low self-esteem and co-occurring symptoms of youth with ASD. Stability of effects was measured seven weeks later. Results: Participants receiving COMET+CAU showed greater improvement on parent-reported self-esteem and externalizing symptoms than participants receiving CAU-only. Similar improvements between groups were found on self-reported self-esteem and depressive symptoms. Improvements remained stable until seven weeks after having received COMET+CAU, with depressive symptomatology improving even further. Conclusions: Given the small sample size and mixed results, this pilot study does not allow us to declare COMET as being necessary in enhancing low self-esteem in ASD. However, this study indicates that when given parallel to CAU, COMET can help to improve self-esteem and co-occurring externalizing problems in youth with ASD in only a short period of time.

Amaç: Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi’nde (DEÜTF) ilk üç ay tarama testinin etkinliğini saptamak. Yöntemler: Ocak 2005 ve Mayıs 2006 tarihleri arasında kliniğimizde ilk üç ay testi yaptıran 1571 hasta retrospektif olarak değerlendirmeye alındı. Erken dönem gebelik kaybı olan, amniosentez yaptırmayan, geç dönem gebelik kaybı olan ve ulaşılamayan hastalar çalışmadan çıkarıldı. İlk üç ay testi biyokimyasal belirteçleri ve kombine riski ayrı ayrı hesaplanan 910 hasta cut-off değer 1/300 alındığında yüksek ve düşük riskli çıkanlar, yapılmışsa amniosentez sonuçlarına göre ayrı ayrı değerlendirildi. Sensitivite, spesifite, pozitif prediktif değer ve negatif prediktif değer hesaplanarak ilk üç ay testinin DEÜTF’de güvenilirliği ve etkinliği saptanmaya çalışıldı. Bulgular: İlk üç ay testi biyokimyasal belirteçleri bakılan hastalar için sensitivite %75, spesifite %87,6, pozitif prediktif değer %2,6, negatif prediktif değer % 99,8 olarak bulundu. Kombine risk için sensitivite %100, spesifite %92, pozitif prediktif değer %4, negatif prediktif değer %100 olarak bulundu. Sonuç: İkili teste NT ölçümünün eklenmesi, invaziv girişim oranını belirgin olarak azaltmıştır. Etkin bir laboratuar değerlendirme ile doğru NT ölçümünün DS tanısında ve normal gebelikleri ayırmadaki etkinliği açıktır

A two-dimensional (2D) magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) code which has visualization and parallel processing capability is presented in this paper. The code utilizes a fluctuation splitting (FS) scheme that runs on structured or unstructured triangular meshes. First FS scheme which included the wave model: Model-A had been developed by Roe [Roe PL. Discrete models for the numerical analysis of time-dependent multi-dimensional gas dynamics. J Comp Phys 1986;63:458-76.] for the solutions of Euler's equations. The first 2D-MHD wave model: MHD-A, was then developed by Balci and Aslan [Balci Ş. The numerical solutions of two dimensional MHD equations by fluctuation splitting scheme on triangular meshes, Ph.D. Thesis, University of Marmara, Science-Art Faculty, Physics Dept Istanbul, Turkey; 2000; Aslan N. MHD-A: A fluctuation splitting wave model for planar magnetohydrodynamics. J Comp Phys 1999;153:437-66.] to solve MHD problems including shocks and discontinuities. It was then shown in [Balci S, Aslan N. Two dimensional MHD solver by fluctuation splitting and dual time stepping. Int J Numer Meth Fluids, in press.] that this code was capable of producing reliable results in compressible and nearly incompressible limits and under the effect of gravitational fields and that it was able to identically reduce to model-A of Roe in Euler limit with no sonic problems at rarefaction fans (Balci and Aslan, in press). An important feature of this code is its ability to run time dependent or steady problems on structured or unstructured triangular meshes that can be generated automatically by the code for specified domains. In order to use the parallel processing capability of the code, the triangular meshes are decomposed into different blocks in order to share the workload among a number of processors (here personal computers) which are connected by Ethernet. Due to the compact nature of the FS scheme, only one set of data transfer is required between neighbor processors. As it will be shown, this phenomenon results in minimum amount of communication loss and makes the scheme rather robust for parallel processing. The other important feature of the new code is its visual capability. As the code is running, colorful images of scalar quantities (density, pressure, Mach number, etc.) or vector graphics of vectoral quantities (velocity, magnetic field, etc.) can be followed on the screen. The extended code, called PV-MHDA, also allows following the trajectories of the particles in time by means of a recently included particle in cell (PIC) algorithm. Because the numerical dissipation embedded in its wave model reflects real physical viscosity and resistivity, it is able to run accurately for compressible flows (including shocks) as well as nearly incompressible flows (e.g., Kelvin-Helmholtz instability). The user-friendly visual and large-scale computation capability of the code allow the user more thorough analysis of MHD problems in two-dimensional complex domains. © 2006 Elsevier Ltd. Objective: Workers with asthma are one of the risk working groups. Being exposed to indoor air pollutants in the workplace makes it difficult to control asthma and can lead to asthma attacks. This study was conducted by a workplace physician of a textile factory in Denizli, 2009, and it was investigated whether workers with asthma were affected or not in the workplace. Material and Method: Some data about health/diseases status and individual characteristics of 41 workers who had previously been diagnosed with asthma were collected. Spirometric measurements were made. PEF (peak expiratory flow) meters recordings were made 4 times a day during 4 weeks to indicate the effects of the workplace. PEF rates were calculated using the measurements before and after the shift. Results: There were 1553 workers in the factory and 41 of them had asthma (2.6%). Twenty-eight of them were female. Nearly half of the workers with asthma were smoking more than 5 cigarettes per day. PFT (pulmonary function test) measurements were lower in workers with asthma. PFT measurements were lower in current smoker workers with asthma than in nonsmoker. When we evaluated PEF measurements; we found 8% decrease between the start and end of the shifts. Nearly half of the PFT results of asthma workers were found to be normal. Daily PEFR variability of more than 20% was 4.4%. Conclusion: The 75.6% of asthmatic workers were current smokers. Also, all workers having a daily PEFR variability higher than 20% were current smokers. These findings indicate that smoking is the most important problem that must be solved. A smoking cessation programme has been initiated for workers.
