Carbon capture and storage (CCS) and geological energy storage are essential technologies for mitigating global warming and achieving China’s “dual carbon” goals. Carbon storage involves injecting carbon dioxide into suitable geological formations at depth of 800 meters or more for permanent isolation. Geological energy storage, on the other hand, involves compressing air or other gases using surplus electricity during off-peak hours and temporarily storing them in underground reservoirs. These gases are then released during peak hours for power generation. Both technologies share commonalities in reservoir selection, with aquifers, depleted oil and gas reservoirs, and salt caverns all serving as potential storage sites. Carbon storage demands long-term containment, while geological energy storage necessitates multiple cycles of storage and release, requiring careful consideration during site evaluation. CCS projects are rapidly increasing globally, evolving towards networked and clustered configurations. In China, CCS projects are primarily focused on CO2-enhanced oil recovery, with fewer dedicated storage projects. However, direct storage projects are projected to dominate in the future and are also transitioning towards clustered development. China possesses favorable geological conditions for carbon storage, with relatively accurate estimates for oil and gas reservoir storage potential. Nevertheless, significant uncertainties persist regarding the storage capacity of saline aquifers. Compressed air energy storage in salt caverns is currently the predominant type of geological energy storage projects. Germany, the USA, and China have a total of five operating compressed air salt cavern energy storage power plants. China has abundant salt cavern resources, albeit with complex geological conditions. Suitable construction sites are concentrated in the eastern regions, and numerous projects are already underway. Compared to salt caverns, porous formations such as aquifers and depleted oil and gas reservoirs are more widespread and offer higher storage potential. However, technical challenges related to multiphase flow and chemical reactions need to be addressed. However, current site selection, potential assessment, efficiency optimization, and monitoring technologies face considerable challenges in meeting the demands of large-scale practical applications. Traditional hydrogeological exploration methods prove inadequate for selecting suitable sites, highlighting the need for efficient monitoring and risk control techniques. Additionally, there is a lack of cost-effective and accurate continuous monitoring technologies specifically designed for pressure and stress changes in storage and caprock formations. The development of key equipment components, such as monitoring and power generation systems, with independent intellectual property rights remains limited. Moreover, our reservoir simulation software requires further advancements to effectively simulate complex reservoirs at large scales. It is crucial to prioritize research and development in resource exploration, site selection technologies, and engineering equipment for both carbon sequestration and geological energy storage. The establishment of diverse demonstration projects and facilities for various storage options such as saline aquifers, depleted oil/gas fields are needed in the future as well.

A large number of natural gas reservoirs in Dongying depression and its surrounding areas indicate that there are good conditions for CO2 geological storage in these areas. To optimize the target area suitable for CO2 storage, through data collection and comprehensive analysis of Dongying basin flow field, this study summarized the main controlling factors and occurrence modes of natural gas accumulation in Dongying depression and its surrounding areas with a buried depth of 500-1500 m, and analyzed the restrictive effect of underground hydrodynamic field on the formation of natural gas reservoirs. The results show the migration pathways of shallow gas reservoirs can be divided into lateral migration pathways and vertical migration pathways based on the characteristics and modes of underground fluid movement. The lateral type is mainly distributed in the high uplift belt at the edge of the depression, and the vertical type is mainly distributed in the depression area in the basin. Compaction flow is the main driving force for the upward migration of the deep gas source in the center of the depression. A part of the deep gas moves for a long distance from the center of the depression to the edge of the depression, forming a closed hydrodynamic trap and a lateral shallow gas reservoir at the junction of compaction flow and gravity flow in the high convex part of the edge of the depression. The other part of deep gas, driven by compaction flow, migrates vertically along the high porosity and permeability fault zone and accumulates in the trap at the top. Lithologic traps caused by fault dislocation are relatively developed, which together with hydrodynamic traps form an effective trap of gas and form a vertical shallow gas reservoir. The most favorable target area for CO2 storage in the shallow part (500-1500 m) of Dongying depression is mainly located in the west and north direction of the depression, such as Gaoqing Uplift, Linfanjia Uplift, Binxian Uplift, Chenjiazhuang Uplift, Guangrao Uplift, and their surrounding areas. The vertical fault development areas of Guangrao uplift, Qingtuozi uplift, and other depressions in the east are favorable targets for CO2 storage in the shallows.

Background: With the rapid ageing of the population, injuries are increasingly threatening the health of elderly individuals. A comprehensive evaluation of the injury burden is important for selecting and formulating strategies for injury prevention. Objective: To evaluate the temporal trends of injury burden among elderly Chinese individuals aged 60 years and older. Methods: Based on the results of the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019, the injury mortality, morbidity, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) of elderly individuals from 1990 to 2019 were estimated by age and sex. The autoregressive integrated moving average model was used to predict the injury burden in the next decade. Results: In 2019, there were an estimated 304 373 deaths due to injuries in China, accounting for 3.55 % of all deaths. The main cause of injury-related death was unintentional injuries (67.28 deaths per 100 000), followed by transport injuries (30.44 deaths per 100 000). The standardized DALYs rate due to injuries among elderly individuals was 3488.54 DALYs per 100 000. In the past 30 years, the morbidity of injuries among elderly individuals in China has increased by 52.18 %. In 2030, we estimated that there will be 398 200 deaths of elderly individuals due to injury. Conclusions: Over 21% of injury-related deaths among elderly individuals occurred in China. The injury burden among elderly individuals is high, and efforts are needed to inform injury prevention policies and adopt injury prevention strategies to reduce the injury burden and promote the health and well-being of elderly individuals.

α-Conotoxins, as selective nAChR antagonists, can be valuable tools for targeted drug delivery and fluorescent labeling, while conotoxin-drug or conotoxin-fluorescent conjugates through the disulfide bond are rarely reported. Herein, we demonstrate the [2,4] disulfide bond of α-conotoxin as a feasible new chemical modification site. In this study, analogs of the α-conotoxin LsIA cysteine[2,4] were synthesized by stapling with five linkers, and their inhibitory activities against human α7 and rat α3β2 nAChRs were maintained. To further apply this method in targeted delivery, the alkynylbenzyl bromide linker was synthesized and conjugated with Coumarin 120 (AMC) and Camptothecin (CPT) by copper-catalyzed click chemistry, and then stapled between cysteine[2,4] of the LsIA to construct a fluorescent probe and two peptide-drug conjugates. The maximum emission wavelength of the LsIA fluorescent probe was 402.2 nm, which was essentially unchanged compared with AMC. The cytotoxic activity of the LsIA peptide-drug conjugates on human A549 was maintained in vitro. The results demonstrate that the stapling of cysteine[2,4] with alkynylbenzyl bromide is a simple and feasible strategy for the exploitation and utilization of the α-conotoxin LsIA.

BackgroundNumerous basic studies have demonstrated critical roles of metabolic and contractile remodeling in pathophysiological changes of atrial fibrillation (AF), but acetylation changes underlying atrial remodeling have not been fully elucidated. Quantitative acetylated proteomics enables researchers to identify a comprehensive map of protein alterations responsible for pathological development and progression of AF in the heart of patients.Materials and methodsIn this study, 18 samples (9 with chronic AF and 9 with sinus rhythm) of left atrial appendage (LAA) tissues were obtained during mitral valve replacement surgery. Changes in the quantitative acetylated proteome between the AF and sinus rhythm (SR) groups were studied by dimethyl labeling, acetylation affinity enrichment, and high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry analysis.ResultsWe identified a total of 5,007 acetylated sites on 1,330 acetylated proteins, among which 352 acetylated sites on 193 acetylated proteins were differentially expressed between the AF and SR groups by setting a quantification ratio of 1.3 for threshold value and P < 0.05 for significant statistical difference. The bioinformatics analysis showed that the differentially expressed acetylated proteins were mainly involved in energy metabolism and cellular contraction and structure function-related biological processes and pathways. Among 87 differentially expressed energy metabolism acetylated proteins related to the processes of fatty acid, carbohydrate, ketone body metabolism, and oxidative phosphorylation, nearly 87.1% Kac sites were upregulated (148 Kac sites among 170) in the AF group. Besides, generally declining acetylation of cardiac muscle contraction-related proteins (88.9% Kac sites of myosin) was found in the LAA of patients with AF. Immune coprecipitation combined with Western blotting was conducted to validate the differential expression of acetylated proteins.ConclusionMany differentially expressed energy metabolism and cellular contraction acetylated proteins were found in the LAA tissues of patients with chronic AF, and may reflect the impaired ATP production capacity and decreased atrial muscle contractility in the atrium during AF. Thus, acetylation may play an important regulatory role in metabolic and contractile remodeling of the atrium during AF. Moreover, the identified new acetylated sites and proteins may become promising targets for prevention and treatment of AF.

Oligo-basic amino acids have been extensively studied in molecular biology and pharmacology, but the inhibitory activity on nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) was unknown. In this study, the inhibitory activity of 8 oligopeptides, including both basic and acidic amino acids, was evaluated on 9 nAChR subtypes by a two-electrode voltage clamp (TEVC). Among them, the oligo-lysine K9, K12, d-K9, d-K9F, and oligo-arginine R9 showed nanomolar inhibitory activity on various nAChRs, especially for α7 and α9α10 nAChRs. d-K9 containing N-Fmoc protecting group (d-K9F) has an enhanced inhibitory activity on most of the nAChRs, including 47-fold promotion on α1β1δε nAChR. However, H9 and H12 only showed weak inhibitory activity on α9α10 and α1β1δε nAChRs, and the acidic oligopeptide D9 has no inhibitory activity on nAChRs. Flexible docking of K9 in α10(+) α9(-) and α7(+) α7(-) binding pockets showed particularly strong dipole-dipole interactions, which may be responsible for the inhibition of nAChRs. These results demonstrated that oligo-basic amino acids have the potential to be the lead compounds as selective nAChR subtype inhibitors, and oligo-lysines deserved to be modified for further exploitation and utilization. On the other hand, the toxicity and side effects of these nAChR inhibitory peptides should be contemplated in the application.

There are two high-temperature and high-yield geothermal wells, located in the deep ancient buried hill northeast of the Gaoyang geothermal field at the Xiong'an New Area, are constructed by China Geological Survey during the past two years. The successful implementation of the two deep wells reveal that there is a second space for geothermal development in deep Xiong'an New Area. The deep carbonate rock has a high thermal storage temperature, large flow rate, and huge development potential. On the basis of previous studies, this article fully summarizes the latest survey results of geothermal resources in deep buried hills in the northeast of Gaoyang Geothermal Field and these comprehensive analysis show that the heat accumulation mechanism of the study area are as follows: ① Affected by the westward subduction of the Pacific Plate, the eastern North China Craton is significantly damaged, and the thickness of the lithosphere and crust has been greatly reduced, which is conducive to conduct the mantle-derived heat to the shallow depth; ②The regional Marcy fault and other deep strike-slip faults cut through the lithosphere, which contributed to the deep mantle-derived thermal material and deep magma intruding into the crust; ③The heat flow is gathered from the low thermal conductivity depression to the high thermal conductivity. Besides, groundwater is heated by deep cycle and convection along the fault, and the confluence area of regional karst groundwater also has a certain heat accumulation effect. Because of the combined effect of various favorable factors, a high-temperature and high-productivity carbonate type reservoir is formed in the northeast of the Gaoyang geothermal field.

From 2019 to 2021, we constructed two high-productivity geothermal wells with wellhead temperatures of 109.2 and 123.4°C in the Gaoyang geothermal field. Based on the two wells, it was proved that Gaoyang is a medium-temperature carbonate geothermal field with great development potential. The article reported the latest exploration achievements of deep buried hill geothermal resources in the geothermal field. The productivity of D34 and D35 geothermal wells were evaluated by James end-pressure method: the total flow of steam–water mixture was 234.59–331.92 (t/h), the dryness was 1.36–2.03%, and the single-well power generation potential was 2.10–2.55 MW. Combined with those results, the heat control factors and heat accumulation mechanism of the deep carbonatite geothermal field were confirmed. The westward subduction of the Pacific plate caused obvious damage to the eastern North China Craton and greatly reduced the thickness of the lithosphere and crust. This process facilitated the conduction of mantle-derived heat to shallow crust. Deep strike-slip faults (e.g., Maxi fault) cut through the lithosphere, leading the deep mantle-derived heat and magma to migrate into the crust. The heat accumulated from the depression with low thermal conductivity to the uplift with high thermal conductivity. Groundwater was heated up by deep cycle and convection along faults. The catchment of regional karst groundwater also had a certain effect on the heat accumulation. The Gaoyang geothermal field was formed by these factors.

The geothermal resources in mountainous areas are usually controlled by neotectonic faults. To minimize the risk in site selection for geothermal drilling, the controlling mechanism must be identified. Based on the neotectonic control theory for geothermal resources, the occurrence of the geothermal resources in the mountainous area in southeastern Zhangjiakou city was investigated. The investigation was divided into three stages. Firstly, field investigation for neotectonics was carried out to characterize the kinematics and the stress state of the faults, including fault occurrences, tectonic stages, and paleostress analysis, and in total 19 neotectonic faults were confirmed. Based on Riedel shear model and present stress field, their conductivity for geothermal water was inferred; secondly, geophysical and geochemical surveys were applied to identify the stress state and characterize the occurrence of the potential water conductive faults. The results showed that the combined use of magnetotelluric sounding (MT), controllable source audio magnetotelluric sounding (CSAMT), and 2D seismologic survey is effective in delineating fault occurrence, strata distribution, and water conductivity within 1,000 m depth, while measurement of 222Rn activity in soil gas across the neotectonic faults is effective to investigate the groundwater conductivity of the faults, and all the neotectonic faults in the study area striking clockwise from N5°E to N25°W are considered to be water conductive; thus, the areas at the intersection zones of neotectonic faults in the basin in groundwater runoff and discharge regions are promising targets for geothermal exploration. This conceptual model was verified by the geothermal fields already discovered in the study area and proved to be reasonable, and then a potential drilling site was predicted and proved to be successful. It is suggested that this workflow for geothermal exploration is suitable for Zhangjiakou city and may also be applied to other mountainous areas.

Studying the flow path of geothermal water in geothermal fields is an important basis for the scientific development and management of geothermal resources. However, due to the influence of engineering volume, economic benefits and demand, it is very difficult to fully grasp the flow path of deep geothermal water in large areas. The use of hydrogeochemical tracers to determine the flow path of geothermal water is a scientific and effective research method. In order to accurately describe the flow path of carbonate geothermal water in the Xiong’an New Area and its surrounding areas, this study systematically analyzed the 14C, 18O, and 2H data of carbonate and Cenozoic sandstone geothermal water, Quaternary groundwater, as well as mountain spring water of the study area. Based on these results, we can conclude that 1) The 14C, d, and 18O values are favourable clues for indicating the circulating runoff conditions and runoff paths of geothermal water. 2) The salinity of the Xushui-Wenan and Lilan transfer zone are 3 g/l, the 14C values are higher than 40,000 years, the d value is lower, and the phenomenon of “18O drift” is obvious, all these indicating that the tectonic sites are the convergence areas of regional karst geothermal water, featured by relative high temperature. 4) The hydrochemical indicators combined with previous carbonate groundwater flow field indicate that the recharge of carbonate geothermal water in the Xiong’an New Area may not only drive from the western Taihang Mountains, but also along the Xushui-Wenan transfer zone and the Lilan fault, with the recharge of carbonate groundwater from the Cangxian uplift from east to west. By further identifying and defining the dominant flow path and supply direction of carbonate geothermal water in the Xiong’an New Area and surrounding areas, it provides strong support for the scientific development of regional carbonate geothermal water.

Abstract Background Previous studies demonstrated impaired lipid metabolism and augmented aerobic glycolysis in AF. The authors aimed to investigate whether the use of metformin, an AMPK activator, could reverse this metabolic remodeling in chronic AF and to explore the underlying mechanisms. Methods We conducted chronic AF animal models with 18 beagle dogs and divided them into SR (pacemaker implanted without pacing), AF (pacemaker implanted with sustained pacing at a frequency of 400 beats/min for 6 weeks), and metformin+AF group (daily oral administration of metformin was initiated 1 week before surgery and continued throughout the study period). After electrophysiological measurements, the left atrial appendage tissue samples were taken from the beating heart for further analysis. Protein expression, histological analysis, and biochemical measurements were conducted. Results The AF groups showed decreased expression of FAT/CD36, CPT-1, VLCAD, increased concentration of free fatty acid and triglyceride, and increased lipid deposition. The activation of AMPK/PGC-1α/PPARα pathway was decreased. The key factors of the Warburg effect, including HIF-1α, GLUT-1, PDK1, HK, and LDH, increased in AF group compared to SR group. The expression of PDH decreased significantly, accompanied by increased atrial lactate production. The extent of fibrosis increased significantly in the left atrial appendage of AF group. dERP, ∑WOV, and AF inducibility increased while ERP decreased in AF group compared to SR group. The use of metformin attenuated all these changes effectively. Conclusions Metformin improves lipid metabolism and reverses the Warburg effect in chronic AF via AMPK activation. It attenuates atrial electrical and structural remodeling.

Morphine, the main component of opium, is a commonly used analgesic in clinical practice, but its abuse potential limits its clinical application. Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) in the mesolimbic circuitry play an important role in the rewarding effects of abused drugs. Previous studies have showed that α6β2* (* designated other subunits) nAChRs are mainly distributed in dopaminergic neurons in the midbrain area, which regulates the release of dopamine. So α6β2* nAChRs are regarded as a new target to treat drug abuse. α-Conotoxin TxIB was discovered in our lab, which is the most selective ligand to inhibit α6β2* nAChRs only. Antagonists of α6β2* nAChRs decreased nicotine, cocaine, and ethanol rewarding effects previously. However, their role in morphine addiction has not been reported so far. Thus, it is worth evaluating the effect of α-conotoxin TxIB on the morphine-induced conditioned place preference (CPP) and its behavioral changes in mice. Our results showed that TxIB inhibited expression and acquisition of morphine-induced CPP and did not produce a rewarding effect by itself. Moreover, repeated injections of TxIB have no effect on learning, memory, locomotor activity, and anxiety-like behavior. Therefore, blocking α6/α3β2β3 nAChRs inhibits the development of morphine-induced CPP. α-Conotoxin TxIB may be a potentially useful compound to mitigate the acquisition and/or retention of drug-context associations.

The sustainable development of a shallow aquifer geothermal reservoir is strongly affected by the reinjection–production strategy. However, the reinjection–production strategy optimization of a small-scale exploitation unit with tens of meters of well spacing is site specific and has not yet been fulfilled. This study numerically investigates sustainable heat extraction based on various reinjection–production strategies which were conducted in a single-phase aquitard–aquifer geothermal system in Huailai County, Hebei Province, China. The response of the water level and production temperature is mainly discussed. The numerical results show that production without reinjection induces the highest production temperature and also the water level drawdown. Although reinjection in a single doublet well system is conducive to the control of water level drawdown, the introduction of the thermal breakthrough problem causes a decrease in the production temperature. The thermal breakthrough and sustainability of geothermal reservoirs highly depend on the well spacing between the production and reinjection wells, especially for the small-scale field. Therefore, a large well spacing is suggested. A multi-well system facilitates the control of water level drawdown while bringing intensive well interference and thermal breakthrough. Large spacing between the production and reinjection wells is also the basic principle for the design of the multi-well system. A decrease in openhole length leads to an increase in the production temperature and output thermal power. An increase in the production rate affects the thermal breakthrough highly and shortens the lifetime of the geothermal system. Furthermore, the extracted thermal energy is highly affected by the reduction in the reinjection temperature. The results in this study can provide references to achieve sustainable geothermal exploitation in small-scale geothermal reservoirs.

The Xifeng geothermal field is located in the Yangtze Craton, SW China, and is one of the most representative low-temperature geothermal fields in China. Widespread thermal anomalies, hot springs, and geothermal wells have been reported by previous studies. However, the nature and forming mechanisms of the field remain poorly understood. Element geochemical (ions, rare earth elements) and stable isotopic (D, O) composition of hot springs, geothermal fluids, rivers, and cold springs from different locations of the Xifeng geothermal field were analyzed in this study. The ions studies revealed that most samples featured the Ca-Mg-HCO3 type, except Xifeng hot springs, and which were characterized by the Ca-Mg-HCO3-SO4 type. Based on quartz geothermometers, the estimated reservoir temperature was 77°C. The results of stable isotopes (D, O) manifest that the Xifeng geothermal system was recharged by meteoric water at an elevation of 1,583 m from SW to NE. The research of rare earth elements (REE) revealed that their accumulation characteristics and obvious positive Eu anomaly were inherited from host feldspar-bearing reservoir dolomites through water-rock interactions. Combined with these observations, geological setting, and previous studies, it was concluded that the formation of the Xifeng geothermal field resulted from recharge, deep circulation, and secondary rising of the meteoric water along the faults. First, meteoric water infiltrated to depth through faults and crack zones. Second, the deep-infiltrated water was heated by radioactive heat, deep heat, and tectonic frictional heat. Finally, as the warmed-up waters underwent considerable deep circulation in the reservoir, it rose again along the main faults, and mixed with groundwater near the surface. Taken together, we suggest that the Xifeng geothermal system should be assigned as a faults-controlling, and deeply circulating meteoric water of low-temperature category.

There are 30 carbonate hot springs in Yaoshuitan geothermal field, Xining Basin, China, with a temperature of 18~41.5 °C; and there are 10 carbonate hot springs in Qijiachuan geothermal field, with a temperature of 10~19.5 °C. Both geothermal fields are carbonate hot springs containing large amounts of CO2 gas. In order to reveal the origin of the carbonated hot springs in Yaoshuitan and Qijiachuan of Xining Basin, this paper offers a comprehensive study of the regional deep geology, tectonic setting, total analysis of carbonated hot springs, δ2H, δ18O, δ13C isotopes, main gas composition, and geochemical characteristics of travertine dating, travertine δ13C, and rare earth elements. The geological process of carbonated hot spring formation and the evolution of H+ content from deep to shallow is revealed, and the genetic mechanism of the carbonated hot spring in Xining Basin is systematically summarized. The results show that: (1) The characteristics of δ2H and δ18O isotopes indicate that the recharge source of carbonated thermal water springs in Xining Basin is mainly atmospheric precipitation. The age of carbonated thermal water springs at 14C is more than 20 ka, indicating that some of them may come from deep fluid (gas) sources. The R/Ra in carbonated thermal water springs is mostly less than 1, indicating that the helium in geothermal water is mainly crustal source helium, and there is no deep mantle source material. (2) The Piper three-plot indicates that the direction of groundwater evolution from the recharge area at the edge of Xining Basin to Yaoshuitan and Qijiachuan carbonated thermal water spring area near the edge of the basin is opposite to the normal path of groundwater evolution in the basin, which is due to the large amount of CO2 gas mixed in the deep fault along the northern margin of Laji Mountain. The ratio of (Ca2+ + Mg2+) and (HCO3− + SO42−) in the Potan and Qijiachuan carbonated thermal water springs is close to 1, and the ratio of (Na+ + K+)/HCO3− is less than 1. It indicates that the chemical composition of the Yaoshuitan carbonated thermal water spring and the Qijiachuan carbonated thermal water spring in Xining Basin is dominated by the dissolution of calcite, dolomite, and gypsum in deep carbonate reservoirs, supplemented by the dissolution of silicate minerals. The relationship between the volume fraction of CO2 and the δ13C value of carbon isotope of CO2 indicates that the source of CO2 is inorganic, which is mainly formed by metamorphism and decomposition of deep carbonate and marble. The δEu < 1 and δCe > 1 of the rare earth elements in the calcium center of the carbonated thermal water springs indicate that the groundwater supplying the travertine material has been in the acidic environment receiving CO2 from the deep crust for a long time. (3) A series of tectonic activities, such as late collision and post-collision between the Indian and Eurasian plates, has led to the uplift, asthenosphere upwelling, and thermal invasion of the northern Tibetan Plateau and other deep dynamic processes. The deep faults in the northern margin of the Laji Mountain and other deep faults with obvious neotectonic activity have provided channels for the up-invasion of deep thermal materials, and local geothermal anomalies were formed near the deep faults. The hidden carbonate rocks and silicate rocks with large thickness undergo thermal metamorphism under high temperature and high pressure in the deep geothermal anomaly area and form a large amount of CO2, which is dissolved in water and enhances the acidity of water. At the same time, the dissolution reaction of acidic water to carbonate rocks consumes H+, which keeps the carbonated thermal water spring weakly acidic. (4) The composition of travertine in carbonated thermal water springs is dominated by calcite, indicating that travertine may be formed in a deep geological environment with a temperature of 150~200 °C, indicating that there are abnormal heat sources in shallow carbonate strata with a burial depth of 3000~4000 m. The abnormal heat source may be caused by the deep fault in the northern margin of Laji Mountain, as well as other deep and large faults channeled in the deep crust and mantle heat source, indicating that the deep fault in the northern margin of Laji Mountain has an obvious heat-controlling effect, and there is a good prospect of geothermal resources exploration near the fault.

Return policy and supply chain finance are significant measures for banks and enterprises to improve the overall competitiveness of their supply chain. Supervision and guidance by banks are prerequisites to the smooth implementation of return policy and supply chain finance. This study analyzes the evolutionary stable strategy of three parties, namely, one bank, one supplier and one retailer, by establishing an asymmetric evolutionary game model. The model assumes that banks apply a reward and punishment policy for suppliers and retailers. Results show that regardless of the strategy the bank chooses, one party will always choose non-implementation of the return policy or non-adoption of the supply chain finance. From a short-term perspective, regardless of the strategy the bank chooses, suppliers and retailers will select the strategy of non-implementation and non-adoption, respectively. From the long-term perspective, suppliers and retailers will actively choose implementation and adoption whether or not there is bank supervision.

To protect energy resources and alleviate environmental pollution, many countries attach great importance to the transformation of traditional industries into clean energy industries. In this paper, fuel vehicles (FVs), hybrid vehicles (HVs), and electric vehicles (EVs) are included in the research. Then, based on the aging chain and coflow theory of SDs, we construct a dynamic matching model of the auto industry upgrade process and its energy consumption attributes. The simulation results of China’s auto industry show that (1) the upgrading of the auto industry is an evolutionary process from high energy consumption and high pollution to low energy consumption and no pollution and the transition from FVs and HVs to EVs will undergo two adjustments; (2) simply reducing energy supply does not have the expected impact on vehicle size and vehicle energy consumption intensity and only by adjusting the energy supply and upgrade ratios together, energy utilization efficiency can be improved; (3) market screening time has an impact on auto industry upgrade speed by affecting vehicle market share and dwell time; (4) China’s auto industry upgrade process should adhere to “problem-oriented” and strengthen consumer guidance, technology innovation, and infrastructure construction. The conclusions can provide references for industrial policy adjustment and industrial structure optimization.

The green low-carbon development system of enterprises, differing from the traditional linear system, is a nonlinear feedback system with complex causality. Based on self-organization theory, this study clarified the self-organization evolution logic of the green low-carbon development of coal enterprises and constructed a system dynamics model following a system dynamics method. Through a scenario simulation analysis, the impact of the market environment, environmental regulation, and enterprises’ innovation level on the green low-carbon development of coal enterprises was revealed. Applicability suggestions based on simulation results were proposed. The results confirmed that the main challenge for coal enterprises is that the coal market environment restricts the promotion of green low-carbon development level of coal enterprises. Improving innovation levels is the most effective way for coal enterprises to address these issues.

Objective This study was conducted to investigate the level of microRNA-155 (miRNA-155) in patients with heart failure (HF) after myocardial infarction (MI) and its clinical importance. Methods Serum miRNA-155 levels were measured using quantitative reverse transcription (qRT)-PCR. The left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), left ventricular posterior wall thickness, and left ventricular end-diastolic diameter were measured by echocardiography. Serum amino-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) and other parameters were also analyzed. Results miRNA-155 levels in patients with HF were significantly higher than in control and MI groups. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of serum miRNA-155 in the diagnosis of HF after MI was 0.941, the cutoff value was 1.77, sensitivity was 92.73%, and specificity was 92.14%. NT-proBNP levels were significantly higher and LVEF was lower in patients with high versus low miRNA-155 expression. Conclusions Patients with HF after MI had elevated miRNA-155 levels and poor cardiac function, suggesting that determining miRNA-155 expression could be used to assess the severity of the disease.

α-Conotoxin TxIB, a selective antagonist of α6/α3β2β3 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, could be a potential therapeutic agent for addiction and Parkinson’s disease. As a peptide with a complex pharmacophoric conformation, it is important and difficult to find a modifiable site which can be modified effectively and efficiently without activity loss. In this study, three xylene scaffolds were individually reacted with one pair of the cysteine residues ([1,3] or [2,4]), and iodine oxidation was used to form a disulfide bond between the other pair. Overall, six analogs were synthesized with moderate isolated yields from 55% to 65%, which is four times higher than the traditional two-step oxidation with orthogonal protection on cysteines. The cysteine [2,4] modified analogs, with higher stability in human serum than native TxIB, showed obvious inhibitory effect and selectivity on α6/α3β2β3 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), which was 100 times more than the cysteine [1,3] modified ones. This result demonstrated that the cysteine [2,4] disulfide bond is a new modifiable site of TxIB, and further modification can be a simple and feasible strategy for the exploitation and utilization of α-Conotoxin TxIB in drug discovery.

In the present work, to realize the stable static suspension of a new type of electrodynamic wheel (EDW) magnetic levitation (maglev) car without track constraints on the conductor plate. Design and analysis of the active disturbance rejection control and explicit complementary filter (ADRC-ECF) have been presented to solve the maglev car's yaw angle disturbance rejection under low lateral damping characteristics. Simple and efficient ECF helps to filter the high and low frequency noise generated by EDWs when rotating at high speed, to obtain accurate data in real-time. Design and build the hardware control system for maglev car, and conduct experimental comparisons with PID controller to verify the effectiveness of suppressing yaw angle disturbances. Based on simulation and experimental results, it is shown that both PID and ADRC-ECF can improve the stable yaw angle convergence of maglev car under external disturbances. However, ADRC performs better in resisting disturbances than PID and can achieve more accurate fixed angle steering. This paper is the first attempt to control maglev car on a trackless conductor plate for precise steering and anti-disturbance, which is anticipated to have some reference significance in this field. Background: Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is a very common cyanotic congenital heart disease. Endothelial-tomesenchymal transition (EndoMT) is recognized as a physiological mechanism involved in embryonic heart development and endothelial formation. However, there is still a gap in the reports related to the mechanism of EndoMT development in TOF. Methods: First, transcriptomic data of single cell nuclei of TOF and Donor were obtained based on the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, and the data were normalized and clustered by dimensionality reduction using the Seurat package. Subsequently, differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between TOF and Donor were screened using the “FindMarkers” function, and the gene sets of interest were enriched. Finally, to characterize the dynamics of EndoMT occurrence in TOF, we performed pseudotime cell trajectory inference as well as utilized SCENIC analysis to probe the gene regulatory networks (GRNs) dominated by transcription factors (TFs) in endothelial cells. Results: We identified a total of six cell clusters based on single-cell nuclear transcriptome data from TOF and Donor. We found that 611 genes with up-regulated expression within TOF showed conversion to mesenchyme. By subdividing endothelial cell subtypes, endothelial cells 2 were shown to be involved in cell adhesion, migration and extracellular matrix processes. Pseudo-time and SCENIC analyses showed that endothelial cell 2 has EndoMT potential. In addition, ERG and TEAD1 are TFs that play key regulatory roles in this subtype, and both of their target genes are also highly expressed in TOF. This demonstrates that ERG and TEAD1 effectively promote the EndoMT process. Conclusion: Our study reveals the molecular mechanisms underlying the development of EndoMT in TOF, which demonstrates that manipulating the endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition may offer unprecedented therapeutic potential for the treatment of TOF.
