Haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is being increasingly used due to improvement of the transplantation procedures allowing a reduction of graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD) and of transplant-related mortality (TRM). Such improvements have been particularly observed after administration of T-replete HSCT graft associated to an in vivo T cell depletion by the administration of high-doses of cyclophosphamide (HD-Cy) after transplantation. Here, we have analyzed the results of haplo-identical T replete HSC transplants, in particular, when performed with post-transplant HD-Cy in order to provide recommendations for the clinical practice. Criteria of choice for a haploidentical donor by priority order are absence of donor-specific antibodies (DSA) and to prioritize: CMV seronegative recipient/donor couples, ABO matching in case of deserythrocytation, male donor for a male recipient, the youngest donor. There is no clear argument in favor of the use of bone marrow versus peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC) after non myeloablative conditioning regimen, while after ablative conditioning PBSC seem to be associated with higher risks of GVHD without obvious impact on survival. Results of haploidentical HSCT, confirmed by several groups, are interesting in lymphomas (in particular Hodgkin disease) and for acute leukemia. Outcomes of patients rely on age, disease status at transplant and conditioning intensity. At equivalent disease risk, results of haploidentical HSCT seem comparable to those of HLA matched HSCT, raising the question of the classification of such transplants as alternatives. In all cases, we recommend to include patients in prospective clinical trials.

Belonging ,world ,corpo ,body ,mundo ,pertencimento - Abstract
As much as it is a central theme of phenomenology, the question of the body has not been treated so far satisfactorily. The difficulty comes from the fact that the body is a response much more than a question, answer to a problem that has never been posed and whose treatment is the only way to access the sense of being of that body. This problem is that of belonging. What can it mean, in a minimal and rigorous way, to have (or be) a body but to belong to the world? Belonging defines the way of being from the body. Therefore, it is necessary to reverse the terms of the problem and stop judging as being obvious the fact that I belong to the world because I have a body. In reality, it is not because we have a body that we belong to the world but, on the contrary, it is insofar as we belong to the world that we have a body. It is a question of trying to deepen the sense of belonging and to develop some consequences of this new starting point., Por mais que seja um tema central da fenomenologia, a questão do corpo não foi tratada, até agora, de uma maneira satisfatória.

Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation ,Living Donors ,Humans ,Pamphlets ,France ,Societies, Medical - Abstract
Providing information to living donors is first and foremost a legal obligation as well as an ethical one, not to mention necessary to health care provision. It's been shown that quality of information concerning the procedure's practical aspects, scheduling of clinical tests and examinations, withdrawing stem cells for the donation, post-donation symptoms, and support provided by healthcare teams, directly impacts the donor's quality of experience. Taking this into consideration our group decided it was essential to create an informational support for donors in the form of a booklet to be provided in different hematopoietic stem cell transplant centers across France. In September 2016 in Lille, France, the Francophone Society of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (SFGM-TC) organized the 7th allergenic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation clinical practices harmonization workshops. As part of these workshops, our group worked collectively to develop a basis of indispensable information to be included in the booklet and presented using clear and accessible language.

General Medicine - Abstract

ART ,FAITH ,DREAMS ,DISCRIMINATION (Sociology) ,BUDGET ,GAY people - Abstract
The article presents information on the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center, whose crime it is to believe that art can change the world. Esperanza means hope in Spanish, but it implies more than can be translated, it means faith and the dreams of a people, too. On a Tuesday amid the heat wave that some call the city's curse, the Esperanza, as it is commonly known, filed an unprecedented lawsuit against the City of San Antonio, alleging the kind of discrimination most Latinos take for granted. The lawsuit came after a long and protracted campaign that targeted the arts center as a nest of jotos, or homosexuals in polite English, and that alleged gay and lesbian agendas as an excuse to slash the city arts budget.

- Abstract
Runner-up, Best Popular Fiction in English, Latino Book Awards Competition, 2010 The golondrina is a small and undistinguished swallow. But in Spanish, the word has evoked a thousand poems and songs dedicated to the migrant's departure and hoped-for return. As such, the migrant becomes like the swallow, a dream-seeker whose real home is nowhere, everywhere, and especially in the heart of the person left behind. The swallow in this story is Amada García, a young Mexican woman in a brutal marriage, who makes a heart-wrenching decision—to leave her young daughter behind in Mexico as she escapes to el Norte searching for love, which she believes must reside in the country of freedom. However, she falls in love with the man who brings her to the Texas border, and the memories of those three passionate days forever sustain and define her journey in Texas. She meets and marries Lázaro Mistral, who is on his own journey—to reclaim the land his family lost after the U.S.-Mexican War. Their opposing narratives about love and war become the legacy of their first-born daughter, Lucero, who must reconcile their stories into her struggle to find'home,'as her mother, Amada, finally discovers the country where love beats its infinite wings. Bárbara Renaud González, a native-born Tejana and acclaimed journalist, has written a lyrical story of land, love, and loss, bringing us the first novel of a working-class Tejano family set in the cruelest beauty of the Texas panhandle. Her story exposes the brutality, tragedy, and hope of her homeland and helps to fill a dearth of scholarly and literary works on Mexican and Mexican American women in post–World War II Texas.

Latin American women activists are poorly covered or neglected by America's leading liberal-left alternative periodicals such as Utne, Mother Jones, Ms., and The Nation. This contributes to the left's general decline in influence in US politics.
