Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a global health problem with different negative consequences for women’s mental health. This pilot study aims to evaluate the efficacy of a multicomponent intervention for battered women using a comparison group design to analyze improvement in self-esteem, self-concept, self-efficacy, body dissatisfaction, and depression. The intervention consisted of an eight-session multicomponent intervention program based on the combination of group psychological therapy and adventure activities. The study sample originally consisted of 34 women IPV victims. Self-report psychological assessment was conducted during the pre-test and post-test while interviews were conducted during the post-test among the experimental group. The results of this pilot study suggest the efficacy of the cognitive-behavioral multicomponent intervention on self-esteem, self-efficacy, and depression in the IPV victims from the experimental group. We conclude that these findings support the efficacy of this psychological intervention program. Practical implications and suggestions are also discussed.

Adapted sports (AS) allows the physical activity level to increase in groups such as people with disabilities, pregnant women, children and older people. AS modifies conventional sports' formal structure to make them accessible. This study aimed to analyse the trend followed by the annual publications on this topic and identify the most productive and cited authors, journals, and countries with the highest number of publications, the most cited documents and the most used keywords. The search was conducted in the Web of Science (WoS) and traditional bibliometric laws were applied. A total of 398 documents were identified. The annual publications followed an exponential growth trend (R2=89.5%). "Influence of Adapted Sport on Quality of Life: Perceptions of Athletes with Cerebral Palsy" was the most cited document. The categories of most interest to researchers were Sports Science and Rehabilitation. The journal with the higher number of publications was Retos-Nuevas Tendencias en Educación Física, Deportes y Recreación. The USA had the highest number of published documents (122 documents) and citations (973), leading extensive research networks worldwide. A total of 1270 authors have published on this topic, using "adapted sport", "adaptive sport", "disability, and "physical activity" as the most used keywords. Makhov (12 documents) was the most prolific co-author, and Lundberg was the most cited., El deporte adaptado (DA) permite aumentar el nivel de actividad física en colectivos como las personas con discapacidad, las embarazadas, los niños y las personas mayores. El AS modifica la estructura formal de los deportes convencionales para hacerlos accesibles. Este estudio pretendía analizar la tendencia seguida por las publicaciones anuales sobre este tema e identificar los autores, revistas y países más productivos y citados, con mayor número de publicaciones, los documentos más citados y las palabras clave más utilizadas. La búsqueda se realizó en la Web of Science (WoS) y se aplicaron las leyes bibliométricas tradicionales. Se identificaron un total de 398 documentos. Las publicaciones anuales siguieron una tendencia de crecimiento exponencial (R2=89,5%). Las categorías de mayor interés para los investigadores fueron Ciencias del Deporte y Rehabilitación. Background: Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a major public health problem that affects one-third of women aged 15 around the world. Interventions for IPV victims are essential for women’s self-esteem and self-concept recovery. This project aims to assess the effects of an eight-session multicomponent intervention program based on group psychological therapy and adventure activities in (1) self-esteem, (2) self-concept, (3) body image, (4) self-efficacy and (5) depression symptomatology in IPV victims. Methods/Design: A single-blind, randomized controlled pilot study, with experimental and control group, will be carried out. 34 IPV female victims will be recruited and equally assigned to the experimental (n = 17) or the control (n = 17) group. Primary outcome measures will include self-esteem, while secondary measures will be focused on self-concept, body image, self-efficacy, and depressive symptoms. Intention to treat and efficacy statistical analyses will be also performed. Discussion: This project will explore the effects of a new multicomponent program which includes cognitive-behavioral therapy sessions and outdoor adventure activities on affective and emotional variables, often affected in IPV victims. In addition, orientations to incorporate the main findings into the community based IPV resources and victims’ services will be provided.

Play is essential in childhood, allowing for a positive trend in development and learning. Health professionals need useful tools to assess it, especially in the case of children with neurodevelopmental disorders. The aim of this study was to validate and cross-culturally adapt the My Child’s Play questionnaire and to find out if this instrument allows us to differentiate the play of children with neurodevelopmental disorders from the play of children with neurotypical development. A total of 594 parents completed the questionnaire. A confirmatory factor analysis was conducted, which showed a similar structure to the English version: (1) executive functions; (2) environmental context; (3) play characteristics; and (4) play preferences and interpersonal interactions. The reliability of the analysis was high, both for the whole questionnaire and for the factors it comprises. The results provide evidence of the potential usefulness of the My Child’s Play questionnaire for determining play needs and difficulties of children; moreover, this tool can also be used to plan intervention programs according to the needs of each child and family.

This paper carries out a systematic review of sensory interventions, different than Sensory Integration of Ayres, making an analysis of research using specific sensory techniques and sensory environmental modifications, between 2007 and 2015. At the end, 8 works meet the inclusion-exclusion criteria. Except Qigong massage, with moderate to strong evidence, and the environmental modification of a dental clinic, with moderate evidence, the rest of techniques show limited evidence. So occupational therapists must perform studies with methodological quality enough to help us to define the effectiveness of the techniques and interventions used for sensory disfunctions, to choose the best evidence treatment techniques to help clients with sensory difficulties to improve their occupational performance and as professionals, we must be trained in Sensorial Integration and other sensory techniques., Este trabajo realiza una revisión sistemática de intervenciones sensoriales distintas de la Integración Sensorial de Ayres, realizando un análisis de investigaciones que utilizan técnicas sensoriales específicas y modificaciones ambientales, publicadas entre 2007 y 2015. De los trabajos analizados, 8 cumplen con los criterios de inclusión-exclusión. Excepto el masaje Qigong, con una evidencia de moderada a fuerte y la modificación ambiental de una clínica dental, con evidencia moderada, el resto de técnicas obtienen una evidencia limitada. De esta forma, los terapeutas ocupacionales deben realizar estudios con calidad metodológica suficiente que nos ayuden a delimitar la eficacia de las técnicas e intervención que se utilizan a nivel sensorial, elegir las técnicas de tratamiento que mejor evidencia tengan para ayudar a los clientes con dificultades sensoriales a mejorar su desempeño ocupacional y continuar formándose en Integración Sensorial.

This work carries out a systematic review of interventions performed from Occupational Therapy to improve the participation of children with Disabilities. From our discipline we have different methodological approaches, so a review is carried out to determine the ones with the greatest evidence. 129 papers examining the effectiveness of 52 types of interventions in children with 22 types of diagnoses met the inclusion criteria set by the authors. Through the Evidence Warning Traffic Light System, a series of recommendations are established: interventions with a green light (“practice them”), orange (”probably”) and red (”better don't practice it”). This work summarizes best Pediatric Occupational Therapy available evidences. Those knowledges must be assimilated in study plans, and occupational therapy practitioners should think criticality about their clinical practice., Este trabajo realiza una revisión sistemática sobre intervenciones practicadas desde Terapia Ocupacional para mejorar la participación de niños con Discapacidad. Desde nuestra disciplina disponemos de distintas aproximaciones metodológicas, por lo que se realiza una revisión para determinar las que disponen de las mayores evidencias. 129 trabajos que examinan la efectividad de 52 tipos de intervenciones en niños con 22 tipos de diagnósticos cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión fijados por las autoras. A través del Sistema de Semáforos de Alerta de la Evidencia se establecen una serie de recomendaciones: intervenciones con luz verde (“practícalas”), naranja (”probablemente”) y roja (”mejor no la practiques”). Este trabajo realiza una síntesis de las mejores evidencias disponibles en Terapia Ocupacional Pediátrica, debiendo ser éstas integradas en los planes de formación, así como suponer una reflexión en la práctica clínica de los terapeutas ocupacionales.

Introduction: occupational Therapy is a health discipline that supports functional performance, health and well-being of patients. A lot of studies support its benefits in populations of different ages, pathologies and disabilities. However, we guess that there is a lack of occupational therapists in the public resources of the different health systems. Methods: the objective of the present study is getting to know the current situation of occupational therapists in the different regional health services in Spain. A questionnaire is sent to the organizations of occupational therapists as well as to the autonomous health systems to know how many occupational therapists are hired in their geographical area. Results: there are 612 therapists hired in our country, which means a rate of 1.51 / 1000 inhabitants. Conclusión: it is considered that the hiring of occupational therapists could be a factor that will help improve the quality of life of patients and maintain the sustainability of the health system. However, the resources in which there are occupational therapists are limited and unreachable for a large part of the population, and there are also notable differences between the different autonomous communities., Introducción: la terapia ocupacional es una disciplina sanitaria que apoya el desempeño funcional y, por tanto, la salud y el bienestar de los pacientes. Numerosos estudios apoyan sus beneficios en poblaciones de distinta edad y con distintas patologías y discapacidades. Sin embargo, hay un vacío en los datos de los terapeutas ocupacionales que están contratados en los distintos recursos de los sistemas de salud regionales en España. Se plantea la hipótesis de que hay un número insuficiente de terapeutas ocupacionales en los recursos públicos de los distintos sistemas de salud, por lo cuál se plantea el siguiente trabajo. Método: el objetivo del presente estudio es conocer la situación actual de los terapeutas ocupacionales en los distintos servicios de salud regionales en España. Se traslada a las organizaciones de terapeutas ocupacionales y a los sistemas de salud autonómicos un cuestionario para conocer los terapeutas ocupacionales contratados en su área geográfica. Conclusión: la contratación de terapeutas ocupacionales podría suponer un factor que ayudara a mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes y a mantener la sostenibilidad del sistema sanitario. Sin embargo, los recursos en los que hay terapeutas ocupacionales son limitados e inalcanzables para gran parte de la población, dándose, además, diferencias notables entre las distintas comunidades autónomas.
