Introduction: Adolescentpregnancies and their maternal and fetal complications are a global healthburden. Iron deficiency anemia is among the factors, which might contribute tothese negative consequences. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the frequencyof iron deficiency anemia among pregnant adolescents followed at the DüzceUniversity Medical Faculty Hospital and to investigate its maternal and fetaleffects. Methods: A totalof 122 pregnant women under 19 years of age were included in this case-controlstudy. The socio-economic characteristics, hematological status, and adversematernal and perinatal outcomes possibly related to iron deficiency anemia wereevaluated.Results: The incidence of anemia among the studied women was 29.5%, and 56.5%were receiving iron supplementation. Oral iron supplementation rate was 33.3%in the anemic group and 66.2% in the non-anemic group (p = 0.01). While theserum ferritin and hemoglobin levels were lower in the anemic group, ironbinding capacity was lower in the non-anemic group, and the difference betweenthe groups was statistically significant (p = 0.01, p = 0.01, and p = 0.02;respectively). Concerning adverse perinatal outcomes, preeclampsia was seen in11.4% of the anemic group and 4.6% in the non-anemic group; the difference wasstatistically significant (p = 0.01).Conclusions: Iron deficiency anemia is a common problem in adolescent pregnancy.However, many anemic pregnant adolescents do not receive iron treatment.Positive effects on some maternal and perinatal outcomes can be achieved byadministering iron supplementation to these women. Biz bu çalışma ile Düzce Üniversitesi Tıp FakültesiHastanesinde takip edilmiş adölesan gebeler arasındaki demir eksikliği anemisisıklığını, bununla ilişikli olabilecek demografik ve sosyo-ekonomik özelliklerive adölesan gebeliklerde görülen demir eksikliği anemisinin maternal ve fetalsonuçlar üzerine olan etkisini değerlendirmeyi amaçladık.Yöntem: Retrospektif vaka-kontrolniteliğindeki bu çalışmaya Düzce Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Kadın Hastalıklarıve Doğum Kliniğine başvuran 19 yaş altındaki toplam 122 gebe dahil edildi.Gebelerin sosyo-ekonomik özellikleri, hematolojik durumları ve demir eksikliğianemisi ile ilişkili olabilecek olumsuz maternal ve perinatal sonuçlarıdeğerlendirildi.Bulgular: Çalışmaya dahil edilenkadınlar arasında anemi görülme oranı %29,5’di ve demir suplemantasyonu alankadın oranı %56,5’di. Anemik grupta oral demir suplemantasyon oranı %33,3 ikennon-anemik grupta %66,2 idi (p=0,01). Serum ferritin, hemoglobin değerlerianemik grupta daha düşük iken, demir bağlama kapasitesi non-anemik grupta dahadüşüktü ve gruplar arasındaki fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlıydı (p=0,01,p=0,01, p=0,02; sırasıyla). Olumsuz perinatal sonuçlar açısından yalnızcapreeklampsi; anemik grupta %11.4 oranında görülürken, non-anemik grupta %4,6oranında görüldü. Gruplar arasındaki fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlıydı (p=0,01).Sonuç: Adölesan gebelikte demir eksikliği anemisi sık karşılaşılan birsorundur. Buna rağmen birçok anemik adölesan gebe demir tedavisialmamaktadır. Demir eksikliği anemisi,demir suplemantasyonu ile tedavi edilirse bazı maternal ve perinatal sonuçlarüzerine olumlu etkileri olabilir. Gebelikte demir eksikliği anemisi ilemücadele için demir kullanımının yaygınlaştırılması gerekmektedir.

Objective: To investigate whether letrozole priming could be used efficiently in patients undergoing in vitro maturation (IVM) as compared with follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) priming. Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 63 patients who underwent IVM due to the high risk of Ovarian Hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) (n=39), cancerophobia (n=16), and desire for IVM after failed in vitro fertilization attempts (n=8). Forty-two patients received FSH priming and 21 patients received letrozole priming. Results: The patients who had FSH or letrozole priming were statistically similar with respect to age, body mass index, duration of infertility, basal antral follicle count, serum anti-Mullerian hormone levels, and IVM indications (p>0.05 for all). When compared with the FSH priming group, the number of germinal vesicle oocytes, metaphase 11 and fertilized oocytes were significantly higher (p=0.003, p=0.001, and p=0.016, respectively), but the number of metaphase I oocytes was significantly lower in the letrozole priming group (p=0.002). The patients who received FSH and letrozole priming had statistically similar rates of implantation (33.3% vs 37.0%, p=0.709), clinical pregnancy (31.5% vs 33.3%, p=0.848), twinning (1.9% vs 3.7%, p=0.611), and live birth (24.1% vs 29.6%, p=0.682). Conclusion: Potential indications for IVM include patients with increased risk for OHSS and contraindication for hyperestrogenism. Aromatase inhibitors can be used to preserve the fertility of patients with estrogen-sensitive cancers. As the reproductive technology advanced along with the improved outcome in cancer treatment demands implementing new fertility preservation, developing algorithms on fertility preservation requires tailoring for each society. Here, the authors attempt to modify the current medical literature on fertility preservation for the Turkish population. A PubMed search was conducted using the search term fertility preservation. Initially, 280 items of literature were accessed. In the second evaluation, 126 articles were examined and 154 items were discarded due to the low quality of the literature. In the final round, only 68 publications that were the most relevant were found eligible for inclusion in this review article. In order to develop a more systematic national guideline, forming a multidisciplinary approach to create a web-based network would be the first step. Both physicians and patients will have open access to the information. This database should be linked to an international consortium to stay integrated and open for updating. The aim of this review was to evaluate the relationship between the current situation in our country and the developments in the world in light of the literature, and to establish infrastructure for the development of future approaches in our country. © 2019 by the Turkish-German Gynecological Education and Research Foundation.

Amaç: Bakteriyel Vaginosis (BV), anormal vajinal flora ile karakterize, iyi bilinen bir hastalıktır. Preterm doğum için önemli bir risk faktörüdür. Amacımız BV'si olan gebelerde preterm doğum riskini azaltmada hangi tedavi seçeneğinin daha iyi olduğunu bulmaktı.Materyal ve Metod: Bu prospektif çalışmada 24-28. Gebelik haftalarında antenatal polikliniğimize vajinal akıntı şikâyeti ile başvuran toplam 60 gebe kadını değerlendirdik. 60 hastanın 25'i nitroimidazol + mikonazol nitrat intravajinal, diğer hastalara ise oral imidazol + vajinal mikonazol ile tedavi edildi.Bulgular: Tedavi seçenekleri arasında servikal uzunluk, preterm doğum riski ve PPROM arasında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmadığını saptadık.Sonuç: Gebeliğin erken dönemlerinde saptanan BV'nin tedavisi, gebelik sonuclarını olumlu yönde etkileyebilir. Nitroimidazolidin oral veya vajinal kullanımı BV'nin tedavisinde etkilidir. Vaginal veya oral kullanım ile elde edilen fayda benzerdir Objective: Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is a well-known disease which is characterized with abnormal vaginal flora. It is an important risk factor for preterm delivery in pregnancy. Our aim was to find out which treatment option was better in reducing the risks of preterm delivery in pregnant women with BV.Materials and Methods: This prospective study includes a total of sixty singleton pregnant women with complaining of vaginal discharge who were admitted to the our obstetrics outpatient clinic at 24 to 28 weeks of gestation. Out of 60 patients, 25 of them were treated with nitroimidazole + miconazole nitrate intravaginaly and the rest was treated with oral imidazole + vaginal miconazole. Results: There was no statistically significant differences in cure rates for bacterial vaginosis in terms of treatment with oral vs oral plus vaginal treatment groups (%82.8, %77.1 respectively, p=0.258 ). We found that there were no significant differences in cervical length, risk of preterm delivery, and PPROM between treatment options. When BV treated with vaginally, 4 out of 25 (%16) pregnant woman had preterm delivery; in the oral+vaginally treated group 8 out of 35 (%22,9) pregnant had preterm delivery (p Conclusion: Treatment of the BV detected early in pregnancy may have a positive impact on the outcome of the pregnancy. Introduction: Nuchal fold thickness is the first trimester continuation of nuchal translucency in the second trimester. Thick nuchal fold is important in relation to some systemic diseases, including abnormal karyotype fetus.Material-Method: This is a cross-sectional retrospective study that has been performed among 1625 singleton pregnant women with gestational ages between 16-24 weeks that has taken place in Kocaeli Medical Park Hospital from years 2011-2017. We calculated nuchal fold lenght %5, %50, %95 percentile per week and draw nuchal fold nomogram. Results: It has been shown that there is a weak positive correlation between nuchal fold thickness and the gestational week (p: 0,001, r:0,18). In 1625 analysed patients, 50 patients had cardiovascular system (CVS) diseases and 32 patients had central nervous system (CNS) diseases. There was not a statistically significant relationship between nuchal fold thickness and CVS diseases (p= 0.98 and p
