The infections caused by orthohantaviruses were already known in the Middle Ages as “English sweats.” There are two main diseases caused by these viruses – HPS (hantavirus pulmonary syndrome) and HFRS (hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome). Rodents are the main reservoir of these microorganisms, and humans usually catch them by inhalation, as a result of contact with secretions and droppings of carriers. HPS is characterized by a sudden onset, and symptoms include primarily cough, fever and difficulty breathing, and in extreme cases – respiratory failure and cardiogenic shock. HFRS begins suddenly and the main manifestation includes fever, renal failure, hemorrhage, hematuria and proteinuria, as well as shock. At present, anti-hantavirus therapy with proven effectiveness does not exist. A key role in the treatment is resting lifestyle, electrolyte control, fluid therapy and prevention of hypotension, and in harder cases – administration of oxygen. Deviations from normal values in laboratory analyzes of people infected with this pathogen depend on the organ affected by the disease process

The author describes what the field of gifted education has accomplished since the advent of programming in the 1920s that has been of service to gifted learners, has been growth-producing, and has had a lasting impact on research and development initiatives. She also identifies what gifted education has not accomplished and the barriers that require gifted educators' attention. The conclusion outlines three initiatives for the field of gifted education to survive.

This article explores higher education's role in supporting gifted students and how these institutions might collaborate with high schools. Multidimensional roles that universities can play include helping gifted students transition from high school through individual support from faculty such as mentorships to offering specialized opportunities and courses within the traditional structures. Collaborations encompass providing advanced opportunities for advanced learners and placements in different types of programs such as dual enrollment, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and individual courses linked to a university program. Research findings suggest that students who had access to a variety of advanced opportunities had greater success in their chosen fields.

Background: Prolonged labor can occur due to malnutrition during the first stage of labor. During the labor process, women need foods rich in sugar, such as dates milkshake, to optimize uterine contractions. This study aimed to explore the effect of dates milkshake on the duration of the first stage of labor. Method: This study was a quasi-experiment conducted from August to November 2021 in Bengkulu City, Indonesia using a posttest-only design with nonequivalent groups. Participants included 34 primigravida and multigravida women who were then divided into intervention group who received dates milkshake and control group who received local fruit juice, each with 17 participants. Daily routine consumption and the partographs during labor were observed. The data obtained was analyzed using Mann Whitney and Cochran’s and Mantel-Haenszel. Results: The duration of labor in mothers given dates milkshake averaged 4.1 hours (± 0.697), ranging from 3 to 5 hours; meanwhile the control group averaged 7 hours (± 1.904), ranging from 5 to 11 hours. There was a significant difference in the duration of labor between mothers given dates milkshake and local fruit juice (p= 0.000, OR=4.0). Conclusions: Dates milkshake has an effect on shortening the duration of the first stage of labor. Dates milkshake can be used as a viable food choice for pregnant women to help maintain and increase maternal energy availability during childbirth.

ABSTRACT Introduction The term “Mediterranean lifestyle” has gained increasing prominence in recent years, yet a specific definition remains elusive. In response, the Mediterranean Lifestyle Medicine Institute Board of Directors convened a multidisciplinary panel comprising international experts and leaders in lifestyle medicine. Their goal was to review existing literature and formulate a consensus definition of the “traditional Mediterranean lifestyle (tMedL),” referring to the historical way of living of the people in the Mediterranean region. This paper presents the agreed consensus statement and a comprehensive holistic definition of the term “traditional Mediterranean lifestyle.” Methods Major medical and social sciences electronic databases from inception to February 2023 were searched, employing keywords relevant to the Mediterranean lifestyle and its constituent elements (diet, physical activity, sleep, stress, socialization). Subsequently, definitions for each pillar were created and synthesized to derive a comprehensive definition of the “traditional Mediterranean lifestyle.” Results This proposed definition received ratification from the Mediterranean Lifestyle Medicine Institute's expert working group during the First International Mediterranean Lifestyle Medicine Conference held in June 2023 on the island of Leros, Greece. “The traditional Mediterranean lifestyle is characterized by its diverse and adaptable nature. Key facets encompass conviviality, lifelong social connectedness, purposeful living, strong community and familial bonds, harmony with nature and the environment, profound spirituality, adherence to religious practices, preservation of local customs, resilience cultivated through adversity, and a commitment to moderation across all spheres of life.” Conclusions This definition comprehensively outlines the primary lifestyle factors ingrained in Mediterranean inhabitants across generations. Its holistic nature furnishes a crucial conceptual framework for directing lifestyle medicine practitioners in assisting patients to mitigate diseases, promote overall well‐being, devise research initiatives to investigate the health ramifications of this lifestyle, and inform curriculum development.

All advanced learners deserve a content-based curriculum that will challenge them to learn more deeply and more broadly, that will enable connections to different domains of learning, and that will raise questions about the world. This article examines the reasons for educators not providing curricula to accommodate advanced learners, characteristics of a well-designed curriculum, and critical steps needed to ensure the effective implementation of such a curriculum for advanced learners.

It ensures that the KYC process is transparent, secure, and immutable, thereby offering a robust solution to combat fraudulent activities. The potential of blockchain technology in revolutionizing the KYC process has been acknowledged globally. Blockchain technology provides a decentralized platform for storing customer data, enabling financial institutions to access the information seamlessly. Using ethereum blockchain technology in KYC procedures can enhance the efficiency of financial institutions, significantly reducing the time and cost associated with the process. This work aims to provide a viable and sustainable solution to the challenges that banks experience in implementing KYC procedures and onboarding new customers. The proposed solution involves the central bank maintaining a comprehensive register of all registered banks while closely monitoring their adherence to the existing regulations governing KYC and customer acquisition.

Background: Anemia is a public health problem throughout the world, globally the highest prevalence of anemia is in the Southeast Asia region at 46.6%, while in Indonesia it is 31.2%. Objectives: The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between adherence to blood supplement consumption and the incidence of anemia in young women in Bengkulu City.Methods: The research uses a cross sectional approach. The sample was calculated using the Slovin formula, obtaining a minimum sample of 160 people. The independent variable is compliance with blood supplement tablet consumption, the dependent variable is the incidence of anemia, while the confounding variables in this research are knowledge, attitudes, perceptions and peer support. Data collection on hemoglobin levels used easy touch GCHb while data on compliance, knowledge, attitudes, perceptions and peer support used a questionnaire. All data obtained were tested for univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis using the Chi Square test and Logistic RegressionResults: The results of research using univariate analysis tests showed that respondents were anemic (14%) and respondents were not anemic (86%). Respondents did not comply with taking blood supplement tablets (27.5%) respondents complied (72.5%). The results of the bivariate analysis test were that there was a significant relationship between compliance and the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls (p value 0.000 < 0.05). There is no relationship between knowledge, attitudes, perceptions and the incidence of anemia, and there is a significant relationship between peer support and the incidence of anemia as well as the results of the multivariate analysis test, namely the most influential variable is Compliance with PR value (119.214).Conclusions: Conclusions and research suggestions show a relationship between adherence to consuming blood supplement tablets and the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls, so support from parents, health professionals, teachers and peers, as well as increased knowledge of the importance of adolescent girls consuming iron supplements are needed to increase compliance. taking blood enhancing tablets

Organically modified clinoptilolite (member of the zeolite family of minerals; MinazelPlus®) feed additive, with an average weight of 30 ± 2 g, was used to prevent mycotoxicosis in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) through its supplementation for 42 days to the diet contaminated with multiple mycotoxins: aflatoxin B1 (40 µg/kg), fumonisin B1 and B2 (600 µg/kg), zearalenone (50 µg/kg), and deoxynivalenol (150 µg/kg). The fish were divided randomly into four experimental groups (basal diet control—C; fed 2 g/kg MinazelPlus®—MZ; fed multiple mycotoxins—MT; and fed a combination of MinazelPlus® and multiple mycotoxins—MZ + MT). Each group consisted of triplicate aquarium setups, with six fish in each replicate. Sampling was performed in weeks 2, 4, and 6. The lymphocyte count was significantly higher in the MZ group compared with the MT group and the MT + MZ group in week 6. An overall decrease in the neutrophil count was observed in the experimental groups. Histopathological analysis was performed in weeks 2 and 6, revealing significant changes in the liver, intestines, kidney, and spleen of fish from the MT group, while the MT + MZ and MZ groups were similar to the control. The addition of 2 g/kg MinazelPlus® has the ability to prevent and reduce the adverse effects of chronic exposure to low concentrations of multiple mycotoxins in juvenile Nile tilapia.

Our study demonstrates the first application of the salmonid alphavirus-based replicon vector system (pSAV) as a DNA vaccine in a non-salmonid fish species, in common carp (Cyprinus carpio) against spring viraemia of carp virus (SVCV). SAV replicon encoding the glycoprotein of the SVCV was used as a DNA-layered plasmid, and its efficacy was compared with a previously described conventional DNA vaccine construct (pcDNA3.1 based vector) and with a control group (pcDNA3.1-empty-plasmid) in an SVCV challenge at a water temperature of 14 ± 1 °C. Vaccine prototypes were administered intramuscularly at a dose of 0.1 µg/g of fish (n = 25 per group). The DNA-layered SAV replicon resulted in 88% survival, compared to around 50% in all other groups. The DNA-layered pSAV vaccination induced the innate immune genes at the injection site, and increased IgM upregulation was also observed. Our preliminary results show that the SAV-based replicon construct may serve as a potential vaccine candidate for the protection of non-salmonid fish in the future provided that further clinical and field trials confirm its efficiency.

This study assessed stakeholder perceptions across 12 gifted programs in respect to the extent to which the programs were perceived to be effective in carrying out the formal operations required of the program in the areas of identification, curriculum, instruction, and assessment. These areas were aligned to the National Association for Gifted Children's standards. Specific questions addressed included: To what extent was the program perceived to be effective by stakeholders affected by it? To what extent did the program align with best practice standards in the field? While stakeholders were positive about the overall program, they reported that the programs needed to be improved in the following areas: identifying underrepresented populations, improving differentiated curriculum and accelerative options, providing professional learning for teachers, and using assessments appropriate for gifted learners to show growth.

Maternal Class is one of the essential activities that respectful care for making maternal and safe childbirth. However, in reality, so far these maternal classes have only been attended by mothers themselves, without the participation of husbands as birth attendants, even though since 2000, the Indonesian government has launched the Alert Husband program. Therefore, the community service team in collaboration with the midwife made efforts to empower the participation of husbands in-class activities for pregnant women to increase the knowledge and skills of husbands as facilitators of childbirth assistance, especially in carrying out labor pain management techniques. The main target of this activity is 10 couples of husband and wife, with counseling methods, discussions, simulations, and practical demonstrations. The results of this activity were very satisfying and effective, there a knowledge increase score was obtained with an average of 45.50 to 93.50, and skills from a value of 5.60 increased to 10.00. Furthermore, it is hoped that this maternal's class will be routinely carried out at least once a week so that the Alert husband's role will continue to be active and sustainable.

The World-Readiness Standards (The National Standards Collaborative Board, 2015) and the Can-Do Statements (ACTFL, 2017) promote intercultural competence and understanding through relating cultural products to perspectives and practices. In response, numerous world languages curriculum proposals have convincingly demonstrated these entanglements. The primary investigative focus, however, often rests on perspectives and practices while casting products into a mostly supportive role. Yet products are ubiquitous, tenaciously situated at the nexus of language and cultural activities. Drawing on interdisciplinary, material-culture-based perspectives, the curriculum intervention described in this article outlines an instructional module for an intermediate German course that promotes intercultural competence by guiding learners in object inquiry to decode, relate, and transform the untranslatable concept of "Heimat."

The author identifies six myths that pervade educational thinking about advanced learning and constrain educational opportunities for gifted students. These myths relate to higher-level thinking, differentiated learning outcomes, accelerated work, limitations on other students, standards, and students from low-income backgrounds. The author concludes that all students deserve to advance their learning, to find their own life themes in whatever creative area they can find or devise.
