Sports injuries are common and impair the lives of athletes, coaching staff, and teammates. Objective: To describe the prevalence and characteristics of musculoskeletal injuries reported by men and women amateur basketball players. Methodology: This cross-sectional analytical study included 121 amateur basketball players. They identified and characterized injuries using the Referred Morbidity Survey. Results: The study included 66 males (n = 54.5%) and 55 females (n = 45.5%); their mean age was 23.0 years. All participants had at least one injury, and 49 (40.5%) presented two or more. The most common injuries were sprains (n = 59; 27.2%), dislocations (n = 34; 15.8%), contusions (n = 25; 11.5%), and ligament injuries (n = 19; 8.8%). The anatomical sites most affected were the ankle (n = 57; 26.3%), the knee (n = 40; 18.4%), the hand (n = 26; 12.0%), and the leg (n = 15; 6.9%). Regarding the mechanisms of injury, the most cited were jumping (n = 43; 19.8%), falling (n = 43; 19.8%), colliding with an opponent (n = 41; 18.9%), and direct trauma (n = 24; 11.1%). Regarding the moment of injury, 84 cases (38.7%) occurred during competitions, followed by 82 (37.8%) during training sessions. Conclusion: Amateur basketball players presented a high prevalence of injuries; the most common were sprains, dislocations, and contusions, mainly affecting the ankle and knee. RESUMO Este estudo investigou a participação e retenção de jovens atletas de basquetebol em Santa Catarina de 2012 a 2022. Utilizando uma abordagem quantitativa e descritiva, foram analisados, a partir de modelos de regressão multinível, dados da Federação Catarinense de Basquetebol, envolvendo 2978 atletas. Os resultados mostraram que apenas 7% dos homens e 6% das mulheres, que competem nas categorias sub 12, sub 13 e sub 15, alcançaram a competição adulta. Atletas das competições sub 12 tiveram maior probabilidade de ingressar na categoria adulta, com variações geográficas evidenciando diferenças na probabilidade de atingir a categoria adulta. Este estudo fornece informações cruciais para melhorar as oportunidades de desenvolvimento de jovens atletas de basquetebol em Santa Catarina.

Objetivo: O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar e analisar as contribuições dos contextos de aprendizagem (formal, não formal e informal) associadas ao processo de formação de treinadores/as de basquetebol escolar. Metodologia: A partir de uma abordagem qualitativa foram entrevistados/as oito treinadores/as de um município do interior do estado de São Paulo (entrevista semiestruturada). O roteiro da entrevista foi composto por questões relacionadas à formação acadêmica e às diversas fontes nas quais o/a treinador/a busca o conhecimento profissional. A análise dos depoimentos pautou-se no método do Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo. Os/As entrevistados/as relataram a importância do contexto formal (graduação) em seu processo formativo, porém criticaram o distanciamento da área profissional. Resultados/discussão: O contexto não formal foi considerado como pouco relevante, dada a escassez de possibilidades e conteúdos distantes do contexto escolar, diferentemente do contexto informal, apontado como determinante para o seu processo formativo, que garantiu a diversificação e a procura de conhecimentos específicos para a realidade vivida por eles/as.

This study compared declarative (DTK) and processual tactical knowledge (PTK) of basketball athletes, considering different times of practice, categories, and their ranking in the season. The sample was composed of 67 female athletes, aged between 12 and 17 years old (14.60±1.25), participants in the U14 and U17 state season of 2018, in order to join the assessment of the DTK test. Concerning PTK, there were two teams, one of each category. We analyzed data through the two-way ANOVA, the T test, and Pearson and Cohen Kappa's correlations. When considering the moments of the season, the DTK of U17 was higher than U14 during the first and second moments, with significance values of 0.003 and 0.001, respectively. Regarding their ranking, finalists were better at DTK in both categories during first and second moments. We did not find a correlation between DTK and PTK. We concluded that the time of practice did not interfere with the DTK or PTK levels, the U17 category was better at DTK facing U14, except at the third moment of the season, and finalists presented better DTK. This study aims to analyze the prevalence of trauma-orthopedic injuries and associated factors in athletes enrolled in the Federação Paranaense de Basquete em Cadeira de Rodas in 2017. Fifty-eight Wheelchair Basketball (WB) athletes participated in the research with an average of age of 35.75 (±11.21) years. The frequency and distribution of trauma and orthopedic injuries occurred in the last 12 months were verified through a questionnaire adapted from the instrument of the Laboratório de Prevenção e Reabilitação de Lesões Esportivas and the instrument of the National Injury Recording System. The strength and direction of the association between the presence of injuries and associated factors were analyzed using the Poisson regression test. All statistical treatment was performed using the SPSS program, version 15.0 for Windows. Significant associations were found between the presence of injuries and the time of WB practice, use of a wheelchair, parallel training and use of a crutch or cane. It was concluded that public policies are needed to encourage interdisciplinary projects in order to ensure comprehensive care for people with disabilities, considering that the promotion of physical health is one of the guidelines of the National Health Policy for People with Disabilities. RESUMO Este estudo tem por objetivo investigar o processo de transferência da representação institucional e do protagonismo da bola ao cesto goiana da cidade de Ipameri para a nova capital do estado de Goiás, Goiânia, entre os anos de 1939 e 1942. O recorte temporal considera os registros presentes nos periódicos Correio Official - Estado de Goyaz e O Popular, que destacam a criação e o desaparecimento da Federação Goiana de Bola ao Cesto em Ipameri e as pioneiras movimentações esportivas em torno da modalidade em Goiânia. Desde sua criação em 1939, a presença da entidade em uma cidade do interior foi questionada, e, em 1942, a Federação Goiana de Bola ao Cesto de Ipameri foi extinta, deixando sequelas no movimento esportivo em torno da modalidade.

This work aims to build a panorama of the organization of Brazilian basketball between 1989 and 2008 in order to understand the elements that influenced the crisis of the sport culminating in the loss of the public, sponsors and the poor results of the national teams. This overview was constructed through the Critical Discourse Analysis of the coverage of the presidents of the Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CBB) and of the coaches of the Brazilian adult team (women's and men's), published in the newspapers of the period. It is possible to conclude that the transformations in Brazilian sport allied with internal management problems contribute to the poor results of the national team and the disorganization of the national championship.
