Sanayileşmenin hızlanmasıyla beraber ağır metallerin çevreye yayılması da artmaktadır. Bu durum doğal hayatı ve canlı yaşamını olumsuz etkilemektedir. Bu sebeple suların arıtılması önemli bir konudur. Su arıtımı için birçok yöntem geliştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada 4 farklı metal, sulu çözeltilerinden adsorpsiyon yöntemi kullanılarak ayrılmaya çalışılmıştır. Adsorbe edilen metaller Cu(II), Cr(VI), Pb(II) ve Zn(II)'dur.Adsorban olarak 1991 yılında Iijima tarafından bulunan karbon nanotüplerin iki farklı tipi kullanılmıştır. Bunlar tek duvarlı karbon nanotüpler (SWCNT) ve çok duvarlı karbon nanotüpler (MWCNT)'dir. Karbon nanotüpler yapılarında çok miktarda safsızlık bulundurmaları ve duvarlarının genel olarak aktif olmamasından dolayı farklı oksidasyon yöntemleri kullanılarak okside edilirler. Bu sayede adsorpsiyon kapasiteleri arttırılmış olur. Bu çalışmada metal adsorpsiyonu için genel olarak kullanılan, CNT'lerin ultrasonik banyoda bir inorganik asit yardımıyla okside edilmesi işlemi uygulanmıştır. Öncelikle, en yüksek verimin elde edildiği asit olarak derişik HNO3 belirlenmiştir. Bu yöntemin yanı sıra CNT'lerin saflaştırılması ve okside edilmesi için UV-C ışığının yükseltgeme özelliğinden faydalanılarak yeni bir yöntem geliştirilmiştir. Bu yeni yöntemle en yüksek adsorpsiyon kapasitesini elde edebilmek amacıyla UV-C ışığının CNT ile düzgün bir biçimde temas edebilmesi için uygun şartlar belirlenmiştir. Bu şartlar şöyledir; yaklaşık 0,05-0,1 g aralığında CNT, 15 mL derişik HNO3 ile UV-C ışığına 10-15 cm mesafede 40 dakika boyunca karıştırılmalıdır. CNT'lerin yüzeylerinde meydana gelen değişikler FTIR, TGA, SEM ve toplam yüzey asitliği analizleri ile belirlenmiştir.CNT'lerin asit ile muamelesi sonucunda nanotüpler safsızlıklarının büyük bir bölümünden arındırılmıştır. Bu sonuç, SEM analizlerinde nanotüplerin çaplarının azalması ile ve nanotüplerin etrafını sarmış olan kirlilik kümelerinin azalması ile belirlenmiştir.Metal adsorpsiyonu için en önemli yüzey özelliği, toplam yüzey asitliğidir. Uygulanan oksidasyon işlemleri sonrası yüzey asitliği miktarları belirlenmiş ve en yüksek yüzey asitliği, UV-C ışığı altında okside edilmiş SWCNT ve MWCNT'de meydana gelmiştir. Bu sonuç FTIR analizinde de görülmüştür. Adsorpsiyon denemeleri sonucunda SWCNT'nin MWCNT'ye göre daha başarılı sonuçlar verdiği görülmüştür. Bunun sebeplerinden birisi yüzey asitlik değerleridir.Metallerin sulu çözeltilerinden adsorbe edilmesi işleminde en önemli parametrenin pH farkı olduğu görülmüştür. Her metal için uygun çözelti pH'ları belirlenmiştir. Bakır adsorpsiyonu için en uygun pH değeri 10, krom adsorpsiyonu için 1, kurşun ve çinko adsorpsiyonu için ise 7'dir. Bu pH değerlerinde en yüksek adsorpsiyon kapasiteleri elde edilmiştir. Bakır pH 10 değerinde UV-SWCNT ile, krom pH 1'de SWCNT ile, kurşun pH 7'de UV-SWCNT ile ve çinko da pH 7'de US-SWCNT ile maksimum adsorbe edilmiştir.Sonuç olarak bu çalışmada kullanılan UV-C ışığı altında CNT'lerin oksidasyonu yönteminin, ultrasonik banyoda yapılan oksidasyon işlemine göre daha iyi sonuçlar verdiği gözlemlenmiştir. Heavy metals released into the environment is increasing with the acceleration of industrialization. This situation negatively affects the natural life and live life. For this reason, water treatment is an important issue. Many methods were developed for water purification. In this study, four different metals tried to separate from aqueous solutions using adsorption method. The adsorbed metals were Cu(II), Cr(VI), Pb(II) ve Zn(II).The materials used as adsorbents were carbon nanotubes discovered by Iijima in 1991. In this study, two different type of nanotubes were used, single walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) and multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT). Carbon nanotubes are generally oxidized because, they have many impurities and their walls are not reactive. The oxidation process is increased the adsorption capacity of CNT?s. In this study, commonly used oxidation process of the CNT, in an ultrasonic bath was applied with the help of an inorganic acid for metal adsorption. First, the maximum adsorption efficiency is obtained with concentrated HNO3 were determined. In this study, a new method was improved for purification and oxidation of CNT?s, based on oxidation feature of UV-C light. In this new method, in order to achieve the higher adsorption capacity, the proper conditions were determined for the UV-C light contact with the CNT. These conditions are as follows: approximately in the range of 0.05 to 0.1 g CNT should be mixed with 15 mL of concentrated HNO3 and this mixture treated with 10-15 cm from the UV-C light for 40 minutes. Changes occurring in the surface of the CNT?s were determined with FTIR, TGA, SEM, and the total surface acidity analysis.As a result of treating CNT?s with acid, a large part of impurities eliminated from nanotubes. This result was determined with SEM analysis. In the SEM images, the diameter of CNT?s was seen as decreased and the mass of impurities was seen as reduced.The most important surface feature for the metal adsorption is total surface acidity. After the oxidation processes, the total surface acidity of CNT?s were determined. SWCNT and MWCNT which were oxidized under UV-C light had higher acidity values than ultrasonic bath. This result was seen in FTIR analysis. After the adsorption experiments, it was determined that SWCNT?s were more effective than MWCNT?s. One of the reasons of this situation is surface acidity values.The most important parameter for the adsorption metals from aqueous solutions is pH difference. Appropriate pH solution was determined for each metal. The optimum pH value for adsorption of copper is 10, for chromium adsorption is 1, while for the adsorption of lead and zinc is 7. The high adsorption capacities were obtained at these pH values. Copper was highly adsorbed at pH 10 with UV-SWCNT, chromium was highly adsorbed at pH 1 with SWCNT, lead was adsorbed at pH 7 with UV-SWCNT and lastly, zinc was adsorbed at pH 7 with US-SWCNT.As a result of this study, it was observed that the CNT oxidation method with UV-C light gave better results than ultrasonic bath oxidation process. 224

Bu çalışmanın amacı, fermentasyonla üretilen organik asitlerin sulu çözeltilerinden ayırma yöntemlerinin karşılaştırılmasıdır. Karşılaştırılacak olan yöntemler; ekstraksiyon, adsorpsiyon ve iyon değişimidir.Çalışmada kullanılan organik asitler; laktik asit ve sitrik asittir. Laktik asit bir monohidroksi karboksilik asittir. Sitrik asit ise bir trihidroksi karboksilik asittir. Bu asitlerin ekstraksiyonunda iki farklı ekstraktan kullanılmıştır. Bu ekstraktanlar uzun zincirli bir tersiyer amin olan tridodesilamin ve bir sekonder aminler karışımı olan Amberlite LA-2 dir. Bu ekstraktanlar farklı kimyasal yapıdaki çözücüler kullanılarak seyreltilmişlerdir. Bu amaçla kullanılan çözücüler; 1-oktanol, metilizobutilketon (MİBK), izo-oktan, toluen ve siklohekzandır.Adsorpsiyon denemesinde adsorban olarak aktif karbon kullanılmıştır. İyon değişimi denemelerinde ise zayıf bazik bir iyon değiştirici reçine olan Amberlite IRA-67 kullanılmıştır.Deneysel kısımda laktik asit ve sitrik asidin ağırlıkça % 10' luk sulu çözeltileri hazırlanmıştır. Organik asitlerin uzun zincirli aminlerle ekstraksiyonlarında amin türü, amin derişimi, amini seyreltmek amacıyla ortama ilave edilen çözücü ve çözücü karışımlarının ve başlangıç asit konsantrasyonunun etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla ekstraktanlar, 5 çözücü içerisinde, 5 farklı derişimde karışımları hazırlanarak kullanılmıştır. Bu derişimler tridodesilamin için 0,22; 0,52; 0,94; 1,57 ve 2,62 mol/L ve Amberlite LA-2 için 0,32; 0,74; 1,33; 2,22 ve 3,70 mol/L'dir. Hazırlanan bu ekstraktan karışımları ve ağırlıkça %10'luk sulu asit çözeltisi 1:1 hacim oranında 50 mL'lik erlenlere alınmış ve termostatlı bir çalkalayıcı içerisinde 4 saat karıştırma işlemine tabi tutulmuşlardır. Bu işlemden sonra fazların birbirinden tamamen ayrılmasını sağlamak için 1 saat kadar bekletilmişlerdir. Bu işlemler sonrasında her iki fazdaki asit miktarları analiz edilmiştir. Deneysel olarak elde edilen su fazı asit derişimlerinden dağılma katsayısı ve yükleme değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Sitrik asit ve laktik asitle yapılan bütün ekstraksiyon denemelerinin sonucunda, TDA ve Amberlite LA-2 derişimleri arttıkça dağılma katsayılarının arttığı tespit edilmiştir. Yapılan denemeler sonucunda, ekstraksiyon üzerinde en yüksek olumlu etkiye sahip çözücünün laktik asit ve sitrik asit için de 1-oktanol olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca her iki asidin ekstraksiyonlarında kullanılan aminlerden Amberlite LA-2 nin, TDA' ya göre daha iyi sonuçlar verdiği gözlemlenmiştir.Adsorpsiyon denemelerinde adsorban olarak aktif karbon kullanılmıştır. İlk olarak 0,25 g. aktif karbon ile asit çözeltisi karışımının dengeye gelme süresinin belirlenmesi için aynı karışımdan 7 adet hazırlanmış ve her yarım saatte bir sulu faz analiz edilmiştir. Bu şekilde dengeye gelme süresi 180 dakika olarak belirlenmiştir. Daha sonra farklı aktif karbon miktarlarının adsorpsiyona etkisinin incelenmesi amacıyla 0,2; 0,4; 0,6; 0,8 ve 1 g.' lık miktarlar için denemeler yapılmıştır. Bunu sonucunda adsorban miktarı arttıkça, adsorbe edilen asit miktarının arttığı görülmüştür. Son olarak başlangıç asit konsantrasyonunun adsorpsiyona etkisinin incelenmesi için hazırlanan %2,5; %5 ve %20 `lik asit konsantrasyonlarında ve optimum adsorban miktarında denemeler yapılmıştır. Optimum adsorban miktarı 0,4 gram olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu denemelerin sonucunda başlangıç asit konsantrasyonu arttıkça, ayrılan asit yüzdesinin azaldığı görülmüştür.İyon değiştirici kullanılarak yapılan denemelerde de adsorpsiyon denemelerinde olduğu gibi sulu asit çözeltisiyle reçinenin dengeye gelme süresinin belirlenmesi için aynı işlemler tekrarlanmıştır. Amberlite IRA-67 ile her iki asidin de dengeye gelme süresi ortalama 120 dakika olarak belirlenmiştir. Daha sonra reçine miktarının ve başlangıç asit konsantrasyonunun iyon değişimine etkisi incelenmiş ve adsorpsiyonla aynı sonuçlar elde edilmiştir.İyon değişimi ve adsorpsiyon prosesleri, ayrılan asit yüzdesi açısından karşılaştırıldığında Amberlite IRA-67 nin aktif karbona oranla daha iyi sonuçlar verdiği gözlemlenmiştir.Ayrıca adsorpsiyon ve iyon değişimi denemeleri için Langmuir ve Freundlich izotermleri hesaplanmıştır. Laktik asidin her iki izoterme de uyduğu fakat sitrik asidin aktif karbonla adsorpsiyonun Freundlich izotermine uygunluk göstermediği görülmüştür. The aim of this study is to compare the processes which use for separation organic acids from aqueous solutions. The processes which compared in this study were extraction, adsorption and ion-exchange.The organic acids used in this study are lactic acid and citric acid. Lactic acid is a monohydroxy carboxylic acid, and citric acid is a trihydroxy carboxylic acid. In the extraction of these acids were used two different extractants. The first of these extractants was tridodecylamine that is a long chain tertiary amine. The second was Amberlite LA-2 which is a mixed secondary amine. These extractants were diluted with different solvents which have different chemical structures. Solvents used for this aim are 1-octanol, methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK), isooctane, toluene and cyclohexane.The adsorbent used in adsorption process is active carbon. Amberlite IRA-67 is a weakly basic ion exchange resin that was used for ion exchage process.In the experimental section, aqueous acid solution at 10% (w/w) concentration were prepared. In the extraction of organic acids, the aim was to investigate the effects of the type of amines, the concentration of amines, nature of solvents and solvent mixtures and initial acid concentrations. For this purpose, the extractants were prepared in five different concentrations in five different solvents. These concentrations were 0.22, 0.52, 0.94, 1.57 and 2.62 mol/L for TDA and 0.32, 0.74; 1.33; 2.22 and 3.70 for Amberlite LA-2. Prepared amine- solvent and aqueous acid solutions were mixed at equal volumes (1:1), and extraction was performed in a thermostated shaker for 4 hours. Then the distribution coefficients and loading factors calculated from experimental results were presented. The results of the extraction experiments, the distribution coefficient depends on the amine concentration. The distribution coefficient increases with increasing amine concentration for all diluents. The best solvent for both acids was 1-octanol and the best extractant for both acids was Amberlite LA-2 in this study.In the adsorption experiments, active carbon was used as an adsorbent. In the first stage, for determining the period to achieve the adsorbent?s equilibrium state, seven identical acid and active carbon mixtures were prepared, were placed in the shaker and started to mix. After that, every 30 minutes one sample?s aqueous phase was analyzed. So, the period of the achieving to the equilibrium state of active carbon was found as 180 minutes for both acids. Then, the effects of different active carbon amount on adsorption and initial acid concentrations on adsorption were investigated. The results of adsorption experiments, the removal of acid percentages were increased with increasing adsorbent amount.In the experiment of ion exchange, the processes which were done for adsorption, were repeated. So, the period of the achieving to the equilibrium state of Amberlite IRA-67 was found as 120 minutes for both acids. The results of ion exchange experiments were the same as adsorption process? results.Ion-exchange and adsorption processes were compared as their value of percentage of removal acid. The result of the comparison; Amberlite IRA-67 was better than active carbon.Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms were calculated as well. It was observed that lactic acid was in compliance with both isotherms. On the other hand adsorption of citric acid on active carbon was not in accordance with Freundlich isotherm. 136
