The peak ground acceleration (PGA) is significant parameter for earthquake hazard assessments. Therefore attenuation relationships have been developed for calculating PGA according to strong-motion databases. Generally this relation has been related to the earthquake magnitude and epicenter distance. Besides researchers have formulated different attenuation relationships according to other parameters (such as soil classification, seismic velocity, etc ). This study aim to estimate the PGA with ANN trained by strong-motion databases.Artificial Neural Network (ANN), efficient and modern modelling method which has increased in literature with development of technology. Artificial Neural Networks are mathematical tools design to perform complex pattern recognition tasks. They have been estimated parameters in many field also geophysical applications. The use of ANN is explored to predict peak ground accelerations for Eastern Turkey earthquakes. A total of 564 records for 128 earthquakes recorded by Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Authority Presidential of Earthquake Department (AFAD) strong motions stations are used to train the ANN models. The output data consist of the real recorded PGA. Also, the relationship between peak ground acceleration and other parameters (distance, magnitude) was investigated by using multiple regression method. Vs30 velocities for some stations were determined by previous studies. The same procedure was repeated by adding Vs30 parameter and the results were compared. Also the estimated PGA by ANN and regression analysis have been compared with calculated PGA according to several attenuation relationships. The results show that the ANN give more reliable and real-like PGA value than estimated from attenuation relationships., En büyük yer ivmesi (PGA), deprem tehlikesi değerlendirmeleri için önemli bir parametredir. Bu nedenle, PGA'nın hesaplanması için azalım ilişkileri geliştirilmiştir. Genel olarak bu ilişki deprem büyüklüğü ve episantr uzaklığı ile ilgilidir. Ayrıca araştırmacılar diğer parametrelere göre (zemin sınıflandırması, sismik hız vb.) farklı azalım ilişkileri geliştirmiştir. Bu çalışma, kuvvetli yer hareketi parametrelerinden PGA'yı Yapay Sinir Ağı (YSA) ile tahmin etmeyi amaçlamaktadır.Yapay Sinir Ağı (YSA), teknolojinin gelişmesiyle birlikte literatürde artan etkin ve modern bir modelleme yöntemidir. Yapay Sinir Ağları, karmaşık olayları modellemek için geliştirilmiş matematiksel tasarımlardır. Jeofiziksel uygulamaların pek çok alanında da parametrelerin tahmini için YSA kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi’nde meydana gelen depremlerin en büyük yer ivmesini tahmin etmek için YSA kullanımı araştırılmıştır. YSA modellerini eğitmek için TC Başbakanlık Afet ve Acil Durum Yönetimi Kurumu Deprem Dairesi Başkanlığı (AFAD) kuvvetli hareket istasyonları tarafından kaydedilen 128 deprem için toplam 564 kayıt kullanılmıştır. Çıktı verileri ise kaydedilen PGA'dan oluşur. Ayrıca, en büyük yer ivmesi ile diğer parametreler arasındaki ilişki (uzaklık, büyüklük) çoklu regresyon yöntemi kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Bazı istasyonlar için Vs30 hızları önceki çalışmalarla belirlenmiştir. Aynı işlem Vs30 parametresi eklenerek tekrarlanmış ve sonuçlar karşılaştırılmıştır. Ayrıca YSA tarafından tahmin edilen PGA ve regresyon analizi, birkaç azalım ilişkisine göre hesaplanan PGA ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Sonuçlar, YSA'nın azalım ilişkilerinden tahmin edilenden daha güvenilir ve gerçek benzeri PGA değeri verdiğini göstermektedir.

Türkiye dünyanın sismik olarak en aktif bölgelerinden biri olan Alp-Himalaya kuşağında yer almaktadır. Bu aktivite nedeniyle Türkiye'de büyük depremler meydana gelmekte, çok sayıda can ve mal kaybı yaşanmaktadır. Türkiye için yapılan deprem tehlike haritaları genellikle deprem magnitüdleri kullanılarak yapılmasına rağmen son yıllarda şiddet değerleri kullanılarak hazırlanan haritalar dünya çapında yaygınlaşmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Türkiye için ilk kez sismik tehlike analizinde konumsal yaklaşımı esas alan SASHA yöntemi kullanılarak makro sismik deprem tehlike haritası hazırlanmıştır. Bu haritanın hazırlanması için gerekli olan konum şiddeti (IS)-magnitüd (mw), episantr şiddeti (I0)-magnitüd (mw), konum şiddeti (IS)-PGA ilişkileri elde edilmiştir. Deprem tehlike haritası ise 50 yılda %2 (2475 yıl) ve %10 (475 yıl) aşılma olasılıkları için sismik tehlike analizinde konumsal yaklaşım yöntemi kullanılarak hesaplanmıştır. Kullanılan yöntem ile elde edilen şiddet değerlerinin III-XI arasında değiştiği gözlenmiştir. Geliştirilen şiddet (IS)-PGA ilişkisi kullanılarak, şiddet değerleri ivme değerlerine dönüştürüldüğünde ise ivme değerlerinin 0.1-1.0 g arasında değiştiği ve en yüksek değerlerin Kuzey Anadolu Fayı boyunca gözlendiği tespit edilmiştir. Klasik deprem tehlike haritalarında genellikle bir fay üzerinde aynı ivme değeri elde edilirken, bu çalışmada kullanılan konumsal yaklaşımda fay üzerinde sismik aktiviteye göre farklı değerler elde edilmektedir. Aletsel dönem verisine bağlı kalmaksızın, her döneme ait şiddet verisinin de sismik tehlike hesabında kullanılabilmesi Türkiye için önemli bir yeniliktir. Sonuç olarak deprem kataloglarının yalnızca aletsel büyüklüğe göre değil makro sismik şiddete göre de tutulması gelecekte yapılacak sismik tehlike haritalarının doğruluk payını arttıracaktır. Turkey is located in the Alpine-Himalayan belt one of the most seismically active regions in the world. This activity is due in large earthquakes occur in Turkey, many are experienced loss of life and property. Although earthquake hazard maps for Turkey usually perform using earthquake magnitude, the maps are prepared using intensity values are spread in recent years worldwide. In this study, macro seismic earthquake hazard map was prepared for Turkey using for the first time seismic hazard analysis based on the site approach SASHA method. Site intensity (IS)-magnitude (mw), epicentral intensity (I0)-magnitude (mW), site intensity (IS)-PGA correlations were obtained for the preparation of this map. The earthquake hazard maps were calculated using the site approach method for seismic hazard analysis for probabilities of exceeding 2% (2475 years) and 10% (475 years) in 50 years. It has been observed that the intensity values obtained by the method used vary between III-XI. When the intensity values were converted into acceleration values using the developed site intensity (IS)-PGA relationship, the PGA values were changed between 0.1-1.0 g and the highest values were observed along the North Anatolian Fault. While the same acceleration values on a fault are obtained on a classical earthquake hazard maps, different values are obtained according to the seismic activity on the fault using the site approach used in this study. Without depending on the instrumental data, intensity data of whole time period can be used the calculation of seismic hazard is an important innovation for Turkey. As a result, keeping seismic catalogs not only earthquake magnitude but also in macro seismic intensity will increase the accuracy of seismic hazard maps to be made in the future. 168

The earthquake hazard parameters of a and b of Gutenberg-Richter relationships, return periods, expected maximum magnitudes in the next 100 years and probabilities for the earthquakes for certain magnitude values are computed using the earthquakes occurred between 1900 and 2014 years in and around Ağrı. The relation of LogN=4.73-0.68M is calculated for the studied area. The mapping of b values show that the regions in the east and southeast of Ağrı, east of Horasan and around Patnos where low b values are computed have high stress levels and capacity to occur large earthquakes in the future. It is found that earthquakes larger than 5.5 may be occurred in the regions where b values lower than 0.8 have been observed in the next 100 years. The return periods for magnitudes between 5.0 and 7.3 are estimated between 5 and 176 years in the studied area. The probabilities of an earthquake with M=6.0, 6.5 and 7.0 in the next 100 years are computed 99%, 86% and 59%, respectively. The largest earthquake occurred in the studied area is 7.3 and its probability to occur is 43% in the next 100 years. The faults around Ağrı are seismically active and have potential to an earthquake larger than 6.0. Since the sediment basin of Ağrı is very young and alluvial layer is tick, there is very high hazard on the buildings and human’s life in Ağrı.

Bu çalışmada, Batı Anadolu ve civarındaki farklı sismik bölgelerin deprem tehlike parametrelerini değerlendirmek için tarihsel ve aletsel dönemleri içeren homojen bir katalog kullanıldı. Batı Anadolu için yapılan eski sismik bölgelendirme çalışmaları dikkate alınarak detaylı bir bölgelendirme çalışması yapıldı. Her kaynak bölge için en büyük olasılık yöntemi ile b değeri ve fraktal boyut değerleri hesaplandı. Gerilim seviyesinin yüksek olduğu Ege yitim zonunda düşük b değerleri elde edilirken, grabenlerin yoğun olduğu bölgelerde ise bölgesel heterojenitenin yüksek olmasından dolayı yüksek b değerleri elde edildi. Kijko-Sellevoll yöntemi kullanılarak aletsel ve tarihsel verileri içeren katalog için geri dönüşüm periyodları, deprem oluşma olasılıkları ve her bölgede beklenen en büyük magnitüdlü depremler hesaplandı. Gumbel III yöntemi ile de her bölge için oluşabilecek en büyük depremin magnitüdü hesaplandı. Kijko-Sellevol ve Gumbel III yöntemi ile hesaplanan değerlerin doğru orantılı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Geri dönüşüm periyot değerlerinin en küçük hesaplandığı yerler Ege yitim zonu ile ilişkili olan bölgelerdir. 50 yıl için magnitüdü 6.5 den büyük bir depremin oluşma olasılığının %90'dan fazla olduğu yerler Büyük Menderes grabeni, Sultandağı fayı, Ege yayını çevreleyen bölgelerdir. Hesaplanan sismik risk parametrelerine göre en tehlikeli bölgeler Ege yayı ve dalma batma zonu ile ilişkili olan 10., 11. ve 12. bölgelerdir. Zamana göre hesaplanan b ve fraktal boyut değerlerinin büyük depremler öncesi önemli değişimler gösterdiği tespit edildi ve bu parametreler depremlerin önceden kestiriminde önemli bilgiler içerdiği görüldü. In this study, an homogeneous earthquake catalogue containing historical and instrumental periods was used to evaluate the seismic hazard parameters for different seismic regions in and around western Anatolia. Taking into consideration the old seismic zoning studies for western Anatolia, a detailed zoning study was prepared for western Anatolia. b value from maximum likelihood estimation and fractal dimension values were calculated for each region. Lower b values were obtained in the Aegean subduction zone with higher stress condition, higher b values were calculated in graben systems due to high regional heretogeneity. Mean return periods, the most probable maximum magnitude in the time period of t-years and the probability for an earthquake occurrence for an earthquake magnitude?M during a time span of t-years was calculated with Kijko-Sellevoll method for each region. Seismic hazard parameters obtained by the methods of Kijko-Sellevol and Gumbel III were identified in direct proportion to each other. The smallest mean return period values were determined relation with Aegean subduction zone. The probability of an earthquake of magnitude equal or greater than 6.5 for 50 years period was calculated bigger than 90% in Buyuk Menderes graben and around the Aegean arc. According to obtained seismic hazard parameters, regions of 10, 11 and 12 covering Aegean arc and subduction zone were the most dangerous regions. b and fractal dimension values with time was found to be significant changes before large earthquakes and these parameters obtain important information for earthquake prediction studies. 137

Erzurum city NE Turkey , one of the largest provinces of the eastern Anatolia region are surrounded by many active tectonic units. These tectonic units generated many earthquakes that led to the loss of life and property during the historical and instrumental period. The 4.7 magnitude earthquake in Askale-Erzurum NE Turkey on May 11, 2017 reminded us the active tectonic units in the region. In this study, Coulomb Stress change was investigated using Askale earthquake and its aftershocks. Especially after this earthquake, a stress of ~1 bar is observed in Tercan, Maden, Ilıca and N part of Cat region. Erzurum managed by compression tectonics as a result of the orogenic movements, always has the potential to generate a devastating earthquake. Considering these reasons, earthquake-soil-structure relationship should be noted while making constructions in Erzurum and its surroundings.
