With the continuous modernization of water plants, the risk of cyberattacks on them potentially endangers public health and the economic efficiency of water treatment and distribution. This article signifies the importance of developing improved techniques to support cyber risk management for critical water infrastructure, given an evolving threat environment. In particular, we propose a method that uniquely combines machine learning, the theory of belief functions, operational performance metrics, and dynamic visualization to provide the required granularity for attack inference, localization, and impact estimation. We illustrate how the focus on visual domain‐aware anomaly exploration leads to performance improvement, more precise anomaly localization, and effective risk prioritization. Proposed elements of the method can be used independently, supporting the exploration of various anomaly detection methods. The COVID-19 experience has shown that horizontal cooperation of non-pharmaceutical interventions across jurisdictions is crucial to combat pandemics. However, the question of how to construct policy coordination regions has not yet received enough attention. In this study, we develop an iterative mobility-driven community detection algorithm based on the modularity function to identify multilevel public policy coordination regions. As a case study, we use movement of people in the United States to identify regions of interconnected locations at different levels. We argue that pre-emptively designed community structures based on mobility can be more appropriate to meet critical preparedness goals than existing jurisdictions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The undergraduate business education landscape is dramatically changing and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Many of the changes are being driven by increasing costs, advances in technology, rapid globalization, and an increasingly diverse workforce and customer base, and are occurring simultaneously in both the business world and higher education. This is especially true for undergraduate business education in which alternative models to the traditional four-year curriculum continue to emerge. Using Christensen's theory of disruptive innovation as a framework, we develop a set of recommendations to help undergraduate business education navigate the disruptions it faces by adopting a "pragmatic liberal" approach. This approach offers a direct contrast to the decades of limited success that business schools have had integrating liberal education and business education.

Experiential learning, an effective pedagogical method in MIS and other business courses, has been limited by instructional formats and teaching resources. But with the advent of Web 2.0 and its rich set of social networking and mass authoring tools, a shift in learning structure in content, process, and outcome is emerging. In this paper, we propose an experience-based, outcome-driven pedagogical model that is particularly suited for MBA courses, and offer case studies to exemplify such implementations. Comparison of process and outcome variables for in-class teams (80 students) with interuniversity teams using computer-mediated communication (36 students) revealed that electronic groups may negate some benefits of collaborative learning (e.g., they were less satisfied with group process). The worldwide healthcare and economic crisis caused by the COVID‐19 pandemic highlights the need for a deeper understanding of investing in the mitigation of epidemic risks. To address this, we built a mathematical model to optimize investments into two types of measures for mitigating the risks of epidemic propagation: prevention/containment measures and treatment/recovery measures. The new model explicitly accounts for the characteristics of networks of individuals, as a critical element of epidemic propagation. Subsequent analysis shows that, to combat an epidemic that can cause significant negative impact, optimal investment in either category increases with a higher level of connectivity and intrinsic loss, but it is limited to a fraction of that total potential loss. However, when a fixed and limited mitigation investment is to be apportioned among the two types of measures, the optimal proportion of investment for prevention and containment increases when the investment limit goes up, and when the network connectivity decreases. Our results are consistent with existing studies and can be used to properly interpret what happened in past pandemics as well as to shed light on future and ongoing events such as COVID‐19. In this study, we focus on papers published in a set of four premier journals, Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, and Management Science over the 15‐year period of 2001–2015. Using simple and weighted counts of papers along with network measures of Total Degree centrality and Bonacich Power centrality, we provide rankings of top authors and institutions in the field of Operations Management (OM) serving as hubs of research, connectivity, and productivity from across the world. In view of benefits that can accrue from increased research collaboration between academicians and practitioners, we examine the levels of practitioner participation in the research works published across these premier journals. We survey the extent to which the top ranked authors and institutions network with practitioners in producing joint publications in these journals. By identifying the top ranked authors and institutions in OM, this study provides information that can be useful to stakeholders who may wish to engage in collaborative research with the leading agents, or pursue educational opportunities with them. The study also presents a profile of productivity levels and what it takes for authors and institutions to rank among the top tiers. In so doing, it offers insights into yearly publication rates and underlying trends—insights that can be useful in the context of promotion and tenure, faculty evaluations, and in assessing the standings of individuals and institutions relative to leadership benchmarks. This paper presents a methodology for managing knowledge in information- and knowledge-intensive services. The Empathic Knowledge Management methodology was developed on the foundation of an appreciative inquiry framework that surfaces and utilises tacit knowledge of participants in the context of process design efforts in a learning laboratory environment. Behavioural and analytic interventions were used to elicit and formalise the knowledge of the participants. The behavioural interventions created and maintained a learning climate for reverse simulation using appreciative inquiry, while the analytic interventions included systemic problem formulation, service blueprint development and system specification using appropriate software tools. The methodology was tested successfully in the design of two distinct product delivery processes in a large financial services company in the USA.
