In a search for dyes photoactivatable with visible light, fluorenes with substituents at positions 2 and 7 were prepared, and their absorption and emission spectra were studied. In particular, the synthesis route to 9-diazofluorenes with 2-(N,N-dialkylamino) and N-modified 7-(4-pyridyl) substituents was established. These compounds are initially non-fluorescent, undergo photolysis with UV or blue light, and—in non-polar media—provide orange- to red-emitting products with a large separation between absorption and emission bands. Irradiation of non-fluorescent 9-diazoderivative 20 in dioxane with the light of 365 nm or 470 nm was accompanied by strong fluorescence gain (10 to 20 times), orange–red emission, and a large Stokes shift of photoproducts, which structurally relate to fluorescent betaine 13 (model compound without diazo group). Photolysis of 20 in protic solvents (ROH = MeOH, H2O) provided clean transformation to C9-OR derivatives, though the emission gain in protic solvents was low. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Investment casting is a widely utilized casting technique that offers superior dimensional accuracy and surface quality. In this method, the wax patterns are employed in the layer-by-layer formation of a shell mold. As is customary, the patterns were created through the injection of molten or semi-solid wax into the die. The quality of the final casting is affected by the quality of the wax pattern. Furthermore, the filling of the die with wax can be associated with die-filling challenges, such as the formation of weld lines and misruns. In this study, the injection filling of the fluidity probe die with RG20, S1235, and S1135 pattern waxes was simulated using ProCast software. The thermal properties of the waxes, including thermal conductivity, heat capacity, and density across a wide temperature range, were determined with the assistance of a laser flash analyzer, a differential scanning calorimeter, and a dynamic mechanical analyzer. A favorable comparison of the acquired properties with those reported in the literature was observed. The Carreau model, which corresponds to non-Newtonian flow, was employed, and the parameters in the Carreau viscosity equation were determined as functions of temperature. Utilizing the thermal data associated with the wax patterns and the simulation outcomes, the interfacial heat transfer coefficients between the wax and the die were ascertained, yielding a value of 275–475 W/m2K. A strong correlation was observed between the experimental and simulated filling percentages of the fluidity probe across a wide range of injection temperatures and pressures. The analysis of the simulated temperature, fraction solid, viscosity, and shear rate in the wax pattern revealed that viscosity is a crucial factor influencing the wax fluidity. It was demonstrated that waxes with an initial high viscosity exhibit a low shear rate, which subsequently increases the viscosity, thereby hindering the wax flow. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

New photostable and bright supramolecular complexes based on cucurbit[7]uril (CB7) host and diketopyrrolopyrole (DPP) guest dyes having two positively charged 4‐(trimethylammonio)phenyl groups were prepared and characterized. The dye core displays large Stokes shift (in H2O, abs./emission max. 480/550 nm; ϵ~19 000, τfl>4 ns), strong binding with the host (~560 nM Kd) and a linker affording fluorescence detection of bioconjugates with antibody and nanobody. Combination of protein‐functionalized DPP dye with CB7 improves photostability and affords up to 12‐fold emission gain. Two‐color confocal and stimulated emission depletion (STED) microscopy with 595 nm or 655 nm STED depletion lasers shows that the presence of CB7 not only leads to improved brightness and image quality, but also results in DPP becoming cell‐permeable. We report on the synthesis of two fluorescent probes which can be activated by β-Galactosidase (β-Gal) enzymes and/or light. The probes contained 2-nitro-4-oxybenzyl and 3-nitro-4-oxybenzyl fragments, with β-Gal residues linked to C-4. We performed the enzymatic and photoactivation of the probes in a cuvette and compared them, prior to the labeling of Vimentin–Halo fusion protein in live cells with overexpressed β-galactosidase. The dye fluorescence afforded the observation of enzyme activity by means of confocal and super-resolution optical microscopy based on stimulated emission depletion (STED). The tracing of enzymatic activity with the retention of activated fluorescent products inside cells was combined with super-resolution imaging as a tool for use in biomedicine and life science. Kazakhstan's film industry, which dates back to the 1930s, has created various works that reflect the country's culture, history, and sociopolitical situation, highlighting its rich past. Studying Kazakh cinematic legacy is essential for maintaining its important aspects, analysing filmmaking processes, and discovering practical applications of visual narrative. This research aimed to analyse the evolution of visual approaches in Kazakh cinema over different eras, examining how these techniques reflect cultural, social, and technological changes in Kazakhstan. The study employed several research methods, including analytical research, systematization, comparison, and generalization. Through these approaches, the researchers were able to examine the different periods in the development of Kazakh cinema. This examination provided insights into how Kazakh cinema evolved and developed across various historical stages. This study examined the image of the world reflected in the films “Amangeldy” (1938) directed by M. Levin, “Racketeer” (2007) by A. Satayev, and the film “Paralympian” (2023) by A. Bayrakimov. This study employed analytical research, systematization, comparison, and generalization methods. The research allowed for an examination of the developmental periods of Kazakh cinema, providing insight into its evolution across different stages. An analysis of visual techniques in Kazakh films revealed their unique characteristics and contributions to the country's cultural heritage. The study also explored current trends in visual methodologies, particularly the use of digital technologies, which offer new possibilities for cinematographers. It emphasizes the importance of balancing these new trends with Kazakhstan's cultural values and traditions.
