The investigation of the structure of a series of I-O bonded bis(acyloxy)iodoarenes and benzoiodoxolones in chloroform solution, which was carried out by using [super 17]O NMR spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) calculations is presented.

Abstract

The temperature-programmed reaction spectroscopy and scanning tunneling microscopy are used to investigate the adsorption and decomposition of benzoic acid on the Cu(110) surface. The results show that the mobile phenyl species is surface bound and preferentially attacks C-H bonds that are nearest the Cu surface and bind the benzoate species as either an upright species or a tilted species.
