1. Developing a Preservation Metadata Standard for Languages

Abstract

We have so many languages to communicate with others as humans. There are approximately 7000 languages in the world, and many are becoming extinct for a variety of reasons. In order to preserve and prevent the extinction of these languages, we need to preserve them. One way of preservation is to have a preservation metadata for languages. Metadata is data about data. Metadata is required for item description, preservation, and retrieval. There are various types of metadata, e.g., descriptive, administrative, structural, preservation, etc. After the literature study, the authors observed that there is a lack of study on the preservation metadata for language. Consequently, the purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the need for language preservation metadata. We found some archaeological metadata standards for this purpose, and after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, we chose three archaeological metadata standards, namely: Archaeon-core, CARARE, and LIDO (Lightweight Information Describing Objects) for mapping metadata.

11. A strategic review on the involvement of receptors, transcription factors and hormones in acne pathogenesis.

Abstract

Acne vulgaris is a very common pilosebaceous inflammatory disease occurring primarily on the face and also rare on the upper arms, trunk, and back, which is caused by Propionibacterium, Staphylococcus, Corynebacterium, and other species. Pathophysiology of acne comprises of irregular keratinocyte proliferation, differentiation, increased sebum output, bacterial antigens and cytokines induced inflammatory response. Treatment of acne requires proper knowledge on the pathophysiology then only the clinician can come out with a proper therapeutic dosage regimen. Understanding the pathophysiology not only includes the mechanism but also involvement of receptors. Thus, this review is framed in such a way that the authors have focused on the disease acne vulgaris, pathophysiology, transcription factors viz. the Forkhead Box O1 (FoxO1) Transcription Factor, hormones like androgens and receptors such as Histamine receptors, Retinoic receptor, Fibroblast growth factor receptors, Toll like receptor, Androgen receptor, Liver X-receptor, Melanocortin receptor, Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor and epidermal growth factor receptors involvement in the progression of acne vulgaris. 12. Phosphorylation of Glycoproteins/Proteins: A Brief Prospect in Osteoarthritis.

Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a joint disease associated with the disability and deformation of the cartilage. The damage in cartilage is due to the alteration in the structure and function of the proteins via different post-translational modifications. Phosphorylation of proteins and glycoproteins is found to be the important modification which deviates the normal condition of the cartilage that causes OA. Recent studies have revealed the effect of glycosylation, particularly GlcNAcylation, on the rate of the phosphorylation process and in turn their after-effects. The osteopontin, STAT3, MMP13, p53 and SMAD3 proteins are associated with the progression of OA as their phosphorylation/dephosphorylation causes inflammation through different cytokine pathways. Phosphoglycosylated proteins, YKL-39 and YKL-40 are some of the glycoproteins which are involved in OA pathogenesis. They are associated with MAPK and TLR4/MyD88-mediated JNK pathway to increase inflammation. Osteopontin suppresses the cartilage reactions via the ERK1/2 signaling pathway. STAT3 promotes expression of MMP13 via IL-6/STAT3 pathway. MMP13 mainly involves in ECM and cartilage degradation. The p53 upregulation leads to chondrocytes degradation and SMAD3 mutation could result in aneurysm-osteoarthritis syndrome. In downstream signaling cascade, targets of these phosphorylated proteins trigger the pro-inflammatory cytokine pathways, such as IL-6 and TNF-a which causes deformation of the cartilage and show significant responses to control over the severity of OA condition. This review enables us to know about the impact of phosphorylation/dephosphorylation of proteins, glycoproteins and their associated pathways involved in OA progression. 13. Effect of Ice Massage to Head and Spine on Blood Pressure and Heart Rate Variability in Patients with Hypertension: a Pilot Study.

Abstract

Background: Ice massage is one of the common hydrotherapeutic procedures. The current study is first of its kind, conducted to evaluate the effect of ice massage to head and spine on blood pressure and heart rate variability in patients with hypertension., Materials and Methods: Fifteen hypertensive subjects with the mean ± standard deviation (SD) age of 48.87 ± 11.17 yrs were recruited and underwent only one session of ice massage to head and spine for 20 min. Blood pressure and heart rate variability were assessed before and immediately after the intervention., Results: Results of this study showed a significant reduction in systolic blood pressure ( p = <.001), diastolic blood pressure ( p < .001) and heart rate ( p = .012), and a significant increase in R-R Interval (the intervals between adjacent R waves in the electro cardiogram) ( p = .001) in the post-test assessments compared to its respective pre-test assessments., Conclusion: Results suggest that 20 min of ice massage to head and spine may reduce blood pressure and heart rate in patients with hypertension.
