A steam turbine blade is a very complex structure. It has geometric complexities such as variation of twist, taper, width and thickness along its length. For most of the time, these variations are not uniform. Apart from these geometric complexities, the blades are coupled by means of lacing wire, lacing rod or a shroud. Blades are attached to a flexible disc which contributes to the dynamic behavior of the blade. Root fixity also plays an important role in this behavior. There is considerable variation in the frequencies of blades of newly assembled turbines and in frequencies after some hours of running. Again because of manufacturing tolerances, there can be some variation in the blade to blade frequencies. The determination of natural frequencies of the blade is therefore a very critical job. Problems associated with typical industrial turbine bladed discs of a 235 MW steam turbine are highlighted in this paper.

The article examines the impact of multiple mating of male silk moth. According to the author, the primary goal of multiple mating is to make the silkworm egg production economical which cold benefit the sericulture farmer. In a study by N. Petkov and G. Mladenov, they observed that male silk moth could mate with 8 females of the same origin successively. It is also noted that the indiscriminate use of male silk moth may directly affect the qualitative and quantitative aspects of seed and decreases the reproductive competence of males.

The article discusses the success story of silk farmer Hanuman Yadav from the Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh (UP), India. It notes that Yadav's decision to try sericulture was due to the difficulty of supporting a big family through traditional farming. To cultivate his mulberry silk farm, Yadav received technical support from the Department of Sericulture (DOS), UP, and the Research Extension Centre of Central Silk Board in Gonda. For his high cocoon yield in 2009-10, Yadav received the Kanshi Ram Best Farmer Award from the Uttar Pradesh Government.

The article discusses the eclosion behaviour of silkworms, Bombyx mori. Such developmental event takes place in the early hour of the day that synchronizes with sunrise. It is comprised of rhythmic abdominal peristaltic waves which ends in the thorax with the shrugging of the moth's wing base and leading to conclusive movements of its legs and body and facilitating a split of the pupal cuticle. A detailed discussion of the two phases of the eclosion behaviour of the silkmoth, the emergence from pupal cuticle and escape from the cocoon, is provided.
