The present research investigated the impact of plant growth regulators in mitigating the effects of heat stress in tomato (Solanum lycopersicuwi L.) genotype LST-6 and cultivar Punjab Varkha Bahar-4. In north India, the temperature in the summer season ranges between 25-45 °C and temperature above 28 °C leads to heat stress in plants and negatively affects the reproductive stage of plants. Considering this, we subjected the plants to varying concentrations of GA3 (10, 20, 30 µg/mL) and 4-CPA (15, 45, 75 µg/mL). GA3 application took place three weeks after transplanting, while 4-CPA was administered during the anthesis stage. We recorded observations from both control and treated plants, with a 10-day gap between each spray treatment. The application of plant growth regulators (PGRs) enhanced the plants' ability to withstand high temperatures by improving photosynthetic efficiency, as evidenced by increased chlorophyll and carotenoid levels in the leaves. The level of different biochemical constituents (total protein, starch, total soluble sugars, phenol and proline content) also increased in PGRs treated plants. Application of GA3 and 4-CPA also enhanced the membrane thermostability and reduced lipid peroxidation. The PGRs treated plants exhibited increased plant height, leaf area, pollen viability, fruit set, number of fruits per plant and fruit weight, ultimately improving yield. GA3 and 4-CPA application also increased the total soluble solids, lycopene content and titratable acidity in tomato fruits. Thus, overall improvement was observed with the application of PGRs; however, 75µg /mL 4-CPA was most effective in imparting thermo tolerance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An Alcon Infinity Vision System with Ozil IP (Alcon Laboratories) was used with an Ozil torsional handpiece and a Kelman-style 45° phacoemulsification tip. Patients underwent preoperative and postoperative central endothelial cell counts.Results: The study included 120 cases of age-related cataract whose mean age (standard deviation [SD]) was 59.68 years (9.47). There was a highly statistically significant endothelial cell loss (P < 0.001). The endothelial cell loss ranged 11–1149 cells/mm2 with a median (interquartile range) of 386 cells/mm2 (184.5–686 cells/mm2). The percentage of postoperative ECLoss% ranged from 0.48% to 47.8% with a median (interquartile range) of 15.4% (7.2% to 26.8%). A significant positive correlation was found between the ECLoss% and different phaco parameters. The Spearman’s rank-order correlation coefficient values, rho, (ρ) were as follows: CDE (ρ = 0.425), aspiration time (ρ = 0.176), and volume (ρ = 0.278). Also, ECLoss% was significantly correlated with the grade of nuclear opalescence (Kendall’s tau τ = 0.42).Conclusion: Microcoaxial phacoemulsification was efficient in removing noncomplicated cataracts; however a statistically significant endothelial cell loss was noted, especially with increased nuclear hardness. This study deals with the application of classical time series models such as double moving average method, exponential smoothing (Brown's double exponential smoothing method and Holt's double exponential smoothing method) along with neural network autoregression model for rice yield prediction in Karnal district of Haryana (India). The district annual time series data on rice productivity were divided into the training data set from 1980-81 to 2013-14 and the test data set from 2014-15 to 2019-20. Among the models fitted, the neural network model had a significantly lower absolute error and the root mean square error. During the test period, a markedly low mean absolute percent deviation was observed for the moving average (7×7) model. However, Future forecast values by this model surpass a fair threshold for rice yield in the country. Considering both the error analysis and model validation results it is found that neural network forecasting models are best fit for forecasting of rice yield in Karnal district followed by Holts double exponential method.
