In the present report, we have described the synthesis of N-aminopolyhydroquinoline (N-PHQ) derivatives using highly efficient β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) as a catalyst by the Hantzsch condensation of substituted aromatic aldehydes, dimedone, and hydrazine hydrate in one pot. The reactions were completed in a shorter time without the generation of any other byproduct. The synthesized N-PHQs were washed thoroughly with distilled water and recrystallized with ethanol to get highly purified products (as crystals). The structure of the synthesized N-PHQs was established by using advanced spectroscopic techniques like FT-IR, NMR (1H, 13C, DEPT, COSY, and HSQC), ESI-MS, and Elemental Analyzer. The N-PHQs derivatives demonstrated moderate to excellent resistance against the tested strains (both fungal as well as bacterial). The presence of polar groups, which are able to form H-bonds, attached to the phenyl ring like -NO2 (4b and 4c), and -OMe (4i, 4j, and 4k) exhibits excellent activity, which is comparable to standard drugs, amoxicillin and fluconazole. The growth of the environment depends upon developing greener and ecological methods for managing pollutants and contamination from industrial wastewater, which causes significant effects on human health. The removal of these pollutants from wastewater using nanomaterials covers an ecological method that is free from expensive and secondary pollution. In this report, we developed magnetic iron nanoparticles from Chenopodium glaucum (CG), which showed excellent adsorption capacity at pH 5 for selective Hg2+ and Pb2+ metal ions among various heavy metal ions, with maximum adsorption capacities of 96.9 and 94.1%, respectively. These metals' adsorption process conforms to the Langmuir model, which suggests that monolayer adsorption transpires on CG–Fe2O3 nanoparticles. CG–Fe2O3 nanoparticles also act as an efficient and recyclable heterogeneous catalyst for one-pot synthesis of xanthene derivatives, yielding products with high yields (up to 97%) and excellent purity (crystalline form) within a short timeframe (6 min) using microwave irradiations (at 120 W). In this work, we describe the phase behaviour and the dielectric and conductivity response of new light-responsive ionic liquid crystals, ILCs, which can be applied as controllable electrolytes. The materials include two different dicationic viologens, the asymmetric 6BP18 and the symmetric EV2ON(Tf)2, containing bistriflimide as the counterions, mixed with 5% and 50% molar, respectively, of one new photoresponsive mesogen called CNAzO14. These mixtures exhibit liquid crystal behaviour, light responsiveness through the E-Z photoisomerisation of the azobenzene groups in CNAzO14, and strong dielectric responses. The 5%-CNAzO14/Ev2ON(Tf)2 mixture displays direct current conductivities in the 10−7 S·cm−1 range, which can be increased by a two-fold factor upon the irradiation of UV light at 365 nm. The magnetically recoverable heterogeneous Fe2O3@cellulose@Mn nanocomposite was synthesized by a stepwise fabrication of Mn nanoparticles on cellulose-modified magnetic Fe2O3 nanocomposites, and the morphology of the nanocomposite was characterized through advanced spectroscopic techniques. This nanocomposite was investigated as a heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of medicinally important tetrazole derivatives through Knoevenagel condensation between aromatic/heteroaromatic aldehyde and malononitrile followed by [3+2] cycloaddition reaction with sodium azide. Thirteen potent (E)-1-aryl-2-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)acrylonitrile derivatives are reported in this paper with very high yields (up to 98%) and with excellent purity (as crystals) in a very short period (3 min @ 120 W) using microwave irradiation. The present procedure offers several advantages over recent protocols, including minimal catalyst loading, quick reaction time, and the utilization of an eco-friendly solvent. Furthermore, the synthesized (E)-1-aryl-2-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)acrylonitrile derivatives (4b, 4c, and 4m) are shown to have excellent resistance against various fungal strains over bacterial strains as compared to the standard drugs Cefixime (4 μg/mL) and Fluconazole (2 μg/mL). Barbituric acid is a heterocyclic compound with various pharmacological and biological applications. This review paper provides a comprehensive overview of barbituric acid's synthesis, reactions, and bio-applications, highlighting its multifaceted role in various fields. Many heterocyclic derivatives were formed based on barbituric acid, for instance, pyrano-fused pyrimidine derivatives, spiro-oxindole derivatives, chrome-based barbituric acid derivatives, and many more via the atom economic method, Michael addition reaction, Knoevenagel condensation reaction, etc. In the context of bio-applications, this review examines the production of a wide range of bioactive drugs like anti-histamine, anti-leprotic, sedative–hypnotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-urease, antiviral, anti-AIDS, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anticonvulsant, anesthetic agent, antitumor, and anticancer drugs using efficient multicomponent reactions. By showcasing the versatility and potential of this compound, it aims to inspire further research and innovation in the field, leading to the development of novel barbituric acid derivatives with enhanced properties and diverse applications, with coverage of the literature relevant up to 2024. In advanced photonics, there is a growing interest in piezochromic luminescent materials that exhibit multicolor switching, driven by their potential applications in optical recording, memory, and sensors. Here, the piezochromic behavior of 2,4,6‐triphenylpyrylium tetrachloroferrate (Py‐FeCl4) under high pressures from 0 to 9 GPa is reported. The observed multicolor changing properties of Py‐FeCl4 (yellow–orange–red–maroon–black) are found to be fully reversible upon decompression to ambient conditions. The mechanism of Py‐FeCl4 piezochromism is investigated via Raman, infrared, and UV–vis spectroscopy combined with powder X‐ray Diffraction. The absence of structural phase transitions as well as the abrupt shifts of bandgap values together with characteristic Raman and IR peaks within 0‐9 GPa suggests that the Py‐FeCl4 multicoloring switching behavior is driven by an electron transfer between the inorganic FeCl4− anion and the organic pyrylium cation. The obtained results demonstrate that Py‐FeCl4 dye is a good candidate for developing high‐pressure sensing technologies designed to function in extreme environments. Moreover, due to the inherent role of molecular‐structure relationships in the pyrylium salt's photophysical properties, findings suggest the potential discovery of piezochromic behavior in other pyrylium compounds. The trajectory method is used to calculate high temperature and kinetic energy dependent ion–polar molecule collision rate constants. A new ion–polar molecule interaction potential energy surface is derived which takes into account the average hard sphere diameter of the colliding partners and the dimensions of the permanent dipole and the induced dipole vectors. A model system, H+3+NH3 is chosen for the calculation. The calculated results show that at low temperatures and kinetic energies, the effects of the size of the ion–molecule partners and the dimensions of the dipole vectors on the collision rate constant are small. At high temperature and high relative kinetic energies, however, these effects are significant. A series of extended, symmetric viologen triflimides were synthesised by the metathesis reaction of lithium triflimide with the respective viologen tosyalates in methanol. Their chemical structures were characterised by Fourier Transform Infrared, 1H and 13C Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Their thermotropic liquid-crystalline (LC) properties were examined by a number of experimental techniques including differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, polarising optical microscopy and variable temperature X-ray diffraction. The viologen salts containing alkyl chain of two carbon and three carbon atoms were relatively low melting salts. Those of alkyl chains of four carbon and five carbon atoms formed ionic liquids at 88 and 42°C, respectively. Those of alkyl chain of 9, 10 and 11 carbon atoms were high melting salts, as high as 166°C. Those of higher alkyl chains of 16, 18 and 20 carbon atoms showed thermotropic LC phases forming SmC, SmA and an unidentified smectic (SmX) phases, and showed SmA to isotropic transitions at high temperatures. The trajectory method is used to calculate collision rate constants for ion-quadrupolar molecule interactions for molecules belonging to the D∞h point group. The calculations utilize a framework similar to the trajectory technique developed previously for ion-polar molecule interactions. The trajectory method gives a good upper bound to reaction rate constants. It predicts a larger effect of the quadrupole moment on collision rate constants than the AQO (average quadrupole orientation)theory. It is shown that the moment of inertia of the neutral is an important factor in determinng the collision rate constant. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
