Abstract

As a new power electronic equipment, energy routers (ERs) can realize the flexible distribution of electric energy in power systems. It is of great significance to analyze the influence of energy routers on the system and study the power flow calculation methods of AC-DC hybrid distribution networks with ERs as the distribution hub. In this paper, the steady state power flow model of ERs is established based on the improved alternating iteration method, and the droop control strategy is adopted for the DC port of the ERs. Combined with the traditional decoupling method, an AC-DC decoupling iterative power flow calculation method suitable for the power distribution network containing ERs is proposed. An IEEE 14-node and IEEE 69-node system with multiple ERs are used as examples to verify the correctness and convergence of the proposed method. In order to analyze the influence of ERs on the system operation, the simulation calculation of IEEE 69-node test system in different scenarios proves that ERs can support the node voltage in the system and reduce the system operation loss.

Abstract

A decoupled model predictive control (MPC) power balancing strategy for a coupled inductor-based flying capacitor DC–DC converter (FCDC) is a proposed to solve the power imbalance caused by the parameter differences in the coupled inductor. The decoupled mathematical model of coupled inductor FCDC is firstly derived by analyzing the converter operation state under various modes. On this basis, the control relationship between inductor current and flying capacitor (FC) voltage is redefined and an MPC power balance strategy based on the inductor current with single-step optimization is proposed. The proposed MPC strategy not only achieves decoupled power balancing control but also solves multi-objective dynamic optimization control of the inductor current and FC voltage, greatly reducing the computation load. A detailed theoretical analysis of the proposed strategy is presented and the balancing performance is effectively verified through the experiments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

15. Decoupling Power Balancing Strategy With Reduced Current Sensors for Two-Phase Interleaved Neutral Point Clamped DC/DC Converter Applied in Energy Storage System

Abstract

This paper proposes a decoupling power balancing strategy with reduced current sensors for the two phase interleaved neutral point clamped DC/DC converter (NPCDC) applied in energy storage system (ESS). With the analysis of the NPCDC operation principle, an equivalent two voltage level analysis method is derived. On this basis, the power balancing strategy based on the total current time-sharing sampling method is proposed. Compared with the traditional strategy, the proposed strategy only requires two current sensors, reducing the number of current sensors by half. Meanwhile, the power balancing control is decoupled with output voltage control and capacitor voltage balancing control, which is helpful to simply the controller design. The small signal model of the proposed strategy based on the equivalent two voltage level analysis method is studied, and the controller design method is also presented in the paper. At last, the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified through an energy storage experimental platform, and the experimental results are presented and discussed.

Abstract

In order to improve the dynamic performance of modular super capacitor energy storage system, in this paper, a load current feed-forward control strategy based on extended state observer (ESO) is proposed, which enables the system own the feature of “plug-and-play”. An ESO is designed to observe the load current and details on the design of the ESO are provided, including the convergence of the observer and the design principle of the key parameters. Stability of the proposed control strategy is carried out by using root locus. At last, the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified by experimental results.

Abstract

This paper proposes a novel modular multilevel DC/DC converter(MMDDC) used in super capacitor energy storage system(ESS). Unlike the conventional MMDDC, this converter has an ability to overcome the problem associated with over-current in charge mode. Along with that, it also possesses advantage of convenience in pre-charging super capacitors(SCs) from DC link without additional charging circuits. For the sake of adaption in an ESS, a compound control strategy is developed for the proposed MMDDC, which consists of multiple closed loops. By means of this, system current can be restricted to a safe value, and hence system reliability has potential to be improved. The pre-charge of SCs is also achieved, which benefits from employing the proposed MMDDC. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed converter and control strategy is verified by simulation and experimental results.
