This meta-analytical review aims to investigate the overall effect of comprehensive interventions on teacher well-being and the factors that moderate the effect by synthesizing empirical evidence. A total number of 176 effect sizes from 44 studies were included in this study. The results reported the mean effect size of intervention on teacher well-being was significant (g = 0.35). The study quality (F = 5.38, p < 0.01), intervention type (F = 3.03, p < 0.05), and intervention duration (F = 2.80, p < 0.05) were identified as the statistically significant moderators for the overall effect. The further multiple moderator model reported a significant outcome (F = 2.91, p < 0.01). This study is the first attempt to synthesize the impact of the intervention on teacher well-being using a three-level model. Conceptual, methodological, and practical implications were provided and particular guidelines for professionals and education policy makers to better promote teacher wellness were also presented.

Motivated by the significant role of uncertainty in affecting investment decisions and China's economic leadership in Asia, this paper investigates the predictive role of exposure to Chinese economic policy uncertainty at the individual stock level in large Asian markets. We estimate the monthly uncertainty exposure (beta) for each stock and then employ the portfolio-level sorting analysis to investigate the relationship between the China’s uncertainty exposure and the future returns of major Asian markets over multiple trading horizons. The raw returns of the high-minus-low portfolios are then adjusted using conventional asset pricing models to investigate whether the relationship is explained by common risk factors. Finally, we check the robustness of the portfolio-level results through firm-level Fama and MacBeth (1973) regressions. Applying portfolio-level sorting analysis, we reveal that exposure to Chinese uncertainty is negatively related to the future returns of large stocks over multiple trading horizons in Japan, Hong Kong and India. We discover this is unexplained by common risk factors, including market, size, value, profitability, investment and momentum, and is robust to the specification of stock-level Fama and MacBeth (1973) regressions. Our analysis demonstrates the spillover effects of Chinese economic policy uncertainty across the region, provides evidence of China's emerging economic leadership, and offers trading strategies for managing uncertainty risks. The findings of the study significantly improve our understanding of stock return predictability in Asian markets. Unlike previous studies, our results challenge the leading role of the US by providing a new intra-regional return predictor, namely, China’s uncertainty exposure. These results also evidence the continuing integration of the Asian economy and financial markets. However, contrary findings for some Asian markets point toward certain market-specific features. Compared with market-level research, our analysis provides deeper insights into the performance of individual stocks and is of particular importance to investors and other market participants.

Abstract Fast and accurate fault direction criteria are crucial for efficient protection in hybrid multi‐terminal HVDC transmission systems. The current variation method is commonly used to identify fault direction, but it is affected by fault resistance and distributed capacitance. This paper proposes a new direction criterion based on the backward fault travelling wave, which has stronger resistance to interference from transition resistance and operates at a faster speed than other methods. Additionally, this paper provides the time‐domain expression of the travelling wave after multiple reflections between the fault point and the converter station port, enabling the calculation of the threshold setting for the criterion. The new direction criterion is tested in PSCAD/EMTDC, and simulation results demonstrate that it can accurately identify fault direction and has a strong ability to withstand transition resistance.

Abstract Open biomass burning (OBB) is a significant source of air pollutants, profoundly impacting regional air quality and global climate change. However, due to the lack of high-resolution burned area products, limited biomass data resolution, and inappropriate emission factors (EFs), current OBB emission inventories have significant uncertainties. In this study, we integrated the FireCCI51 burned area product (250 m), high-resolution gridded biomass data, localized EFs, and various statistical survey data to compile a finer-resolution (250 m) and long-term (2001–2020) inventory of 11 pollutants for Heilongjiang Province (an important agricultural and forestry region in China). The results indicated that the annual average OBB emissions in Heilongjiang Province were 12.26, 63.70, 931.60, 17,203.35, 16.09, 171.25, 39.83, 71.22, 184.33, 129.16, and 6.35 Gg for BC, CH4, CO, CO2, NH3, NMVOC, NOx, OC, PM10, PM2.5, and SO2, respectively. Taking PM2.5 as an example, emissions from cropland, forest, and grassland burning accounted for 73%, 26%, and 1% respectively. Geographically, emissions were primarily concentrated in the western, southwestern, and northeastern regions of Heilongjiang. The peak PM2.5 emissions exhibited notable seasonal variation, with maxima occurring in April and October. This is primarily due to the extensive burning of straw during the spring and autumn ploughing seasons. The results of this study provide a detailed multi-year inventory crucial for atmospheric transport models and can support the development of effective pollution control strategies and greenhouse gas mitigation measures.

A transgenic protein is frequently expressed as different homologous variants in genetically modified crops due to differential processing of targeting peptides or optimization of activity and specificity. The aim of this study was to develop a science-based approach for risk assessment of homologous protein variants using dicamba mono-oxygenase (DMO) as a case study. In this study, DMO expressed in the next-generation dicamba-tolerant maize, sugar beet and soybean crops exhibited up to 27 amino acid sequence differences in the N-terminus. Structure modeling using AlphaFold, ESMFold and OpenFold demonstrates that these small N-terminal extensions lack an ordered secondary structure and do not disrupt the DMO functional structure. Three DMO variants were demonstrated to have equivalent immunoreactivity and functional activity ranging from 214 to 331 nmol/min/mg. Repeated toxicity studies using each DMO variant found no test substance-related adverse effects. These results support that homologous protein variants, which have demonstrated physicochemical and functional equivalence, can leverage existing safety data from one variant without requiring additional de novo safety assessments.

The shallow-sea net-cage culture of sea cucumber (Apostichopus japonicus) has been developing rapidly in recent years, and the culture mode of feeding formula feed has been accepted by farmers. However, the optimal culture density under the feeding mode is still unknown. To evaluate the influence of culture density on the shallow sea net-cage culture of sea cucumber under a feeding mode, this study examined the growth, digestive enzymes, and gut bacterial community structure of sea cucumber at different culture densities. The culture density was set to 10 kg/cage, 20 kg/cage and 30 kg/cage, marked as F10, F20 and F30, respectively. Sea cucumber seedlings with an initial body weight of (75.11±2.99) g were randomly assigned into 9 cages (3 replicates of each density level) according to the density settings. The net cage is cuboidal and its length, width and height were 4 m, 4 m, and 3 m, respectively. After a 42-day experimental period, the total weight of sea cucumber in each cage was weighted and 20~30 individuals in each cage were randomly sampled for individual weight and body wall weight. Then, intestines from 3 individuals were sampled and preserved at –80 ℃ freezer. Digestive enzyme (Trypsin, Amylase, and Lipase) activities were determined spectrophotometrically using enzyme activity assay kits (Nanjing Jiancheng Bioengineering Institute, China) following the manufacturer's instructions. Gut microbial DNA was extracted, and the V3~V4 region of the prokaryotic ribosomal RNA gene (16S rDNA) was amplified and sequenced on an Illumina Novaseq platform. Sequence data were then analyzed on the platform BMKCloud (www.biocloud.net). The results showed that as culture density increased, the weight gain rate of sea cucumbers in net-cage culture significantly decreased, and both the F20 and F30 groups had significantly lower weight gain rates compared to the F10 group (P < 0.05). In addition, increasing culture density resulted in a significant increase in net production and body wall production rates, although none of the differences were significant (P < 0.05). The feed conversion ratio of the F10 group was the lowest and not significantly different from that of the F20 group, but significantly lower than that of the F30 group (P < 0.05). The enzyme activities of all three digestive enzymes showed a decreasing trend with the culture density increase. The digestive enzyme activity of F30 was significantly lower than that of F10 and F20 (P < 0.05). The similarity of the bacterial community structure between the F10 group and F20 group was relatively high. The ACE index of F10 group was significantly lower than that of the F20 group (P < 0.05), while the Chao1 index, Shannon's index and Simpson's index showed no significant difference from that of the F20 group (P > 0.05). All the microbial diversity indices of the F30 group were significantly lower than those of the other density groups (P < 0.05). The relative abundance of dominant organisms varied with culture density. The relative abundance of Firmicutes and Actinobacteria tended to decrease with increasing density, while the opposite was true for Bacteroidota and Proteobacteria. The relative abundance of Actinobacteria in group F10 was significantly higher than that of group F30 (P < 0.05). The relative abundance of Lachnospiraceae, Bifidobacteria and Streptococcus was significantly higher in group F10 than in groups F20 and F30 (P < 0.05), and the relative abundance of Oscillospiraceae and Rikenellaceae was significantly higher in the F20 group than in the F10 and F30 groups (P < 0.05). LEfSe analysis showed that F10, F20, and F30 were mainly significantly enriched in Streptococcus, Ruminococcus UCG_005 and Alkanindiges, respectively. Pearson's correlation analysis showed that three gut bacteria genera were significantly positively correlated with digestive enzyme activities, including Streptococcus, unclassified_ Muribaculaceae and UCG_005. According to the benefit estimation, there was little difference in culture benefit between the F20 and F30 groups, both of which were significantly higher than the F10 group. The results indicate that higher culture densities can improve the net-cage culture production of sea cucumber, thus increasing the overall benefit. However, too high culture density could negatively affect the growth, digestive enzymes, and the gut microbial balance of the sea cucumber. Therefore, to improve the overall benefit, it is better to increase the culture density to 20 kg/cage in the current small net-cage feeding mode. These results provide references for the scientific culture of sea cucumbers in shallow-sea net-cage systems, leading to improvements in both quality and culture efficiency.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the correlation between COVID-19 and the direct antiglobulin test (DAT) and establish an in-hospital mortality risk predictive model based on the DAT type, which can be used for the early prediction of inpatients with COVID-19. Methods: In this study, 502 patients admitted to our hospital who underwent DAT testing from January 29 to February 8, 2023, were included (252 DAT-positive and 250 DAT-negative). Among them, 241 cases of COVID-19 were screened(171 DAT-positive and 70 DAT-negative), clinical and laboratory indicators were compared between DAT-positive and DAT-negative groups. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis, the Kaplan-Meier survival curve and receiver operating curves were used to explore the relation between the DAT type and in-hospital mortality of patients with COVID-19. Abstract The dimensional optimization based on kinematic and dynamic performance indices is proven significant for improving the operational performance of parallel robots. As the pose-dependent performances vary with the dimensional parameters, there are still many challenges in the optimal design of parallel robots, such as the possible conflict amongst different performance indices and computational expensiveness. By considering a 4-DOF high-speed parallel robot as an illustrative example, this paper presents a framework for the optimal design of parallel robots by integrating skeleton modeling, CAD-CAE integration and multi-objective optimization techniques. In this approach, the models for kinematic and elasto-dynamic performance evaluation are first developed using the CAD and CAE techniques, respectively. After evaluating the performance distributions over the task workspace, several reference poses representative of multiple neighboring sample poses are determined to formulate corresponding local performance indices by using the Hard C-Means (HCM) clustering analysis algorithm. This consideration leads to the determination of the optimal dimensions by investigating the Pareto-optimal solutions of a multi-objective optimization problem, allowing the conflict amongst different performance indices to be appropriately handled and the computational time to be saved significantly. The results of the case study show that the proposed approach can significantly enhance the elastic dynamic performance while ensuring that the kinematic performance is not excessively compromised, when compared to the performance of existing physical prototype of the robot. A software package has been developed using the proposed framework, providing a highly accessible way for designing various types of parallel/hybrid robots based on CAD and CAE techniques.

Abstract Objective The dose perturbation effect of immobilization devices is often overlooked in intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for gynecologic cancer. This retrospective study assessed the dosimetric effects of a prone immobilization device combined with a belly board (PIDBB) on the skin. Methods We recruited 63 women with gynecologic cancer undergoing postoperative IMRT at our institute. A 0.3 cm thick skin contour and body contours with or without PIDBB system were outlined for each patient. Dose calculations were performed for the two sets of contours using the same plan, named Plan− and Plan+, respectively. The accuracy of calculated doses was verified by gafchromic EBT3 film and anthropomorphic phantom. Results The V 40 Gy, V 30 Gy, V 20 Gy, V 15 Gy and D mean of skin increased by 56.94%, 65.48%, 53.12%, 41.91%, and 1.91%, respectively. Even after excluding the effect of prescription dose coverage, the V 40 Gy, V 30 Gy, V 20 Gy, V 15 Gy and D mean of skin still increased by 46.90%, 92.07%, 72.81%, 52.25%, and 18.06%, respectively. No significant differences were observed in doses to other organs at risk. The EBT3 measurements showed that the skin dose map to the anthropomorphic phantom was 23.79% higher than that calculated by the treatment planning system without the PIDBB system. Conclusions While the PIDBB system effectively reduces the low dose to small intestine, it also induces radiation attenuation, leading to a sharp increase in skin dose, particularly in patients receiving radiation in the groin and perineum area. Therefore, immobilization devices should be included in the external contour to account for dose attenuation and the increment in skin dose. Trial registration This study does not report on interventions in human health care.

Abstract Voting plays a vital role in democratic societies. Adopting electronic voting can effectively increase voter participation and significantly reduce the financial burden on the organizers. In recent years, with the prevalence of blockchain technology, numerous blockchain-based electronic voting schemes have emerged. Compared with traditional electronic voting schemes, they have more favorable security features. However, existing schemes generally suffer from inefficient voting procedures, limited functionality, and dependence on specific blockchain platforms, making them challenging to deploy in diverse voting scenarios. This paper proposes an efficient and versatile electronic voting scheme on blockchain that addresses these problems using our proposed smart contract-based aggregated blind signature, zero-knowledge proofs, and threshold encryption scheme. In the paper, the scheme’s various features, including security, are analyzed in detail, and the scheme is deployed and tested on the Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum blockchain platform. The experiment results demonstrate that the voting scheme satisfies the security requirement, and it has outstanding advantages in performance.

Abstract Background Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)-related myocardial infarction (MI), especially the distal type associated with microvascular dysfunction, is not an uncommon complication of the procedure. Specific lesion features, the echo-attenuated plaques (EA) in particular, are well-established contributors to the pathogenesis of distal-type MI. These plaques are prone to disruption during PCI, leading to microvascular thrombosis and distal embolism. Tenecteplase (TNK), a 3rd-generation thrombolytic drug, has demonstrated effective thrombolytic capacity without significantly increasing the bleeding risk. Our study aims to evaluate whether a low-dose intracoronary TNK administration prior to PCI in patients with intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-detected EA can reduce the occurrence of PCI-related MI and improve clinical outcomes. Methods This trial is designed as a multicenter, prospective randomized controlled trial with a 1-month follow-up. The primary outcome of the study is the incidence of PCI-related myocardial infarction (MI) occurring within 48 h after PCI, which serves as a valid surrogate endpoint for assessing the efficacy of tenecteplase-based PCI in preventing future major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with EA (Bulluck, et. al, Eur Heart J 42:2630–42, 2021) {1b.1}. Secondary outcomes include the proportion of patients with elevated postoperative high-sensitivity cTnI exceeding 5, 10, 35, and 70 times of the normal baseline, incidence of coronary slow flow after stent implantation and post-dilation, frame count of angiographic flow after stent implantation and post-dilation, as well as the incidence of MACE during hospitalization and at the 1-month follow-up. Discussion This trial may demonstrate that an immediate intracoronary administration of low-dose TNK following PCI can effectively lower the incidence of PMI in patients with EA, while confirming the safety of this therapeutic approach. Abstract Background Prior research has demonstrated that people with cataracts are more likely to experience anxiety and depression co-occurring when the condition advances to a degree that impairs vision beyond its physiological effects. According to network theory, there is a connection between the interplay of anxiety and depression and the genesis of comorbidity. Using a network viewpoint, our study examined the network properties of anxiety-depression in cataract patients to pinpoint central and bridge symptoms as well as possible intervention targets for more focused and successful therapies. Method A total of 1,254 cataract patients were enrolled in our study. The Nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and the Seven-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale (GAD-7) were used to measure depression and anxiety symptoms, respectively. The R 4.3.3 software was utilized for network model building and descriptive statistics. Furthermore, we displayed a “Thoughts of death” flow network. Result In the network, A5 “Restlessness”- D7 “Concentration difficulties” showed the strongest edge. A2 “Uncontrollable worry” and D2 “Depressed or sad mood” could be identified as the central symptoms. A7 “Afraid something will happen” and D7 “Concentration difficulties” could be identified as bridge symptoms. The strongest edge in the flow network was D9 “Thoughts of death”-D6 “Feeling of worthlessness”. Conclusion “Uncontrollable worry”, “Depressed or sad mood”, “Afraid something will happen” and “Concentration difficulties” could be potential targets for the prevention of anxiety and depression in cataract patients. Furthermore, this study emphasizes how important it is to prevent suicide in cataract patients, and the symptom “Feeling of worthlessness” can be used as an effective target.

Objective To explore the activity of ANCA positive disease in children with lupus nephritis （LN） and examine its impact on the severity of disease to provide evidence-based rationales for rapid diagnosis, reasonable clinical decision-making and standardized management and offer new ideas for managing systemic lupus erythematosus （SLE）. Methods From January 2014 to April 2022, retrospective review was conducted for the relevant clinical data of 170 hospitalized LN children. Experimental group had 93 children with ANCA testing and 33 were positive for ANCA. Clinical manifestations, laboratory tests, SLE Disease Activity Index （SLEDAI） score, treatments and prognoses of this group were compared with other 60 ANCA-negative children （control group）. SPSS22.0 software was utilized for performing statistical analysis. Results The most common manifestations in LN children were proteinuria （59.13%）, fever （48.38%）, edema （39.78%） and hematuria （34.4%）. The degree of renal damage was significantly greater in ANCA-positive group than that in ANCA-negative group. And 24-hour urinary protein quantity of ANCA positive group was higher than that of ANCA negative group. No significant differences existed between ANCA-positive and ANCA-negative SLE children in blood routine, liver/kidney function, lipids, immunoglobulins, complement or inflammatory parameters. SLEDAI scores were significantly higher in ANCA-positive group than those in ANCA-negative group （mean SLEDAI scores were 15.62 and 11.78, P = 0.033）. The survival rate of ANCA positive group was lower than that of ANCA negative group. Conclusions ANCA-positive LN children have greater disease activity, worse basic renal function and a higher probability of poor clinical prognosis.

Oxysophocarpine (OSC), a quinolizidine alkaloid, shows neuroprotective potential, though its mechanisms are unclear. The aim of the present study was to investigate the neuroprotective effects of OSC through the nuclear factor erythroid 2−related factor 2 (Nrf2)/ heme oxygenase−1 (HO–1) signaling pathway using the HT–22 cell line. Assessments of cell viability were conducted utilizing the 3−(4,5−dimethylthiazol−2−yl)−2,5−diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Assessments of oxidative stress (OS) were conducted through the quantification of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The integrity of the mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) was scrutinized using fluorescent probe technology. Apoptosis levels were quantified using terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) staining. The trafficking of Nrf2 within the cell nucleus was examined through immunofluorescence analysis. Furthermore, Western blotting (WB) was applied to evaluate the expression levels of proteins implicated in apoptosis and the Nrf2/HO–1 pathway. To further probe the influence of OSC on the overexpression of antioxidant enzymes, cells were subjected to transfection with HO–1 siRNA. The results showed that OSC inhibited glutamate-induced OS, as evidenced by reduced cell viability and ROS levels. Furthermore, the apoptotic condition induced by glutamate in HT–22 cells was significantly reduced following OSC treatment. More interestingly, the Nrf2/HO–1 signaling pathway was upregulated following OSC treatment. These results suggest that OSC can exert neuroprotective effects by regulating the Nrf2/HO–1 pathway to inhibit neuronal cell apoptosis, potentially aiding in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

Abstract Charge density wave (CDW) is the phenomenon of a material that undergoes a spontaneous lattice distortion and modulation of the electron density. Typically, the formation of CDW is attributed to Fermi surface nesting or electron-phonon coupling, where the CDW vector (Q CDW) corresponds to localized extreme points of electronic susceptibility or imaginary phonon frequencies. Here, we propose a new family of multiple CDW orders, including chiral Star-of-David configuration in nine 2D III2–VI3 van der Waals materials, backed by first-principles calculations. The distinct feature of this system is the presence of large and flat imaginary frequencies in the optical phonon branch across the Brillouin zone, which facilitates the formation of the diverse CDW phases. The electronic structures of 2D III2–VI3 materials are relatively simple, with only III-s,p and VI-p orbitals contributing to the formation of the CDW order. Despite that, the CDW transitions involve both metal-to-insulator and insulator-to-insulator transitions, accompanied by a significant increase in the bandgap caused by an enhanced electronic localization. Our study not only reveals a new dimension in the family of 2D CDWs, but is also expected to offer deeper insights into the origins of the CDWs.

Abstract Polysomnography is the diagnostic gold standard for obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS), requiring medical professionals to analyze apnea-hypopnea events from multidimensional data throughout the sleep cycle. This complex process is susceptible to variability based on the clinician’s experience, leading to potential inaccuracies. Existing automatic diagnosis methods often overlook multimodal physiological signals and medical prior knowledge, leading to limited diagnostic capabilities. This study presents a novel heterogeneous graph convolutional fusion network (HeteroGCFNet) leveraging multimodal physiological signals and domain knowledge for automated OSAHS diagnosis. This framework constructs two types of graph representations: physical space graphs, which map the spatial layout of sensors on the human body, and process knowledge graphs which detail the physiological relationships among breathing patterns, oxygen saturation, and vital signals. The framework leverages heterogeneous graph convolutional neural networks to extract both localized and global features from these graphs. Additionally, a multi-head fusion module combines these features into a unified representation for effective classification, enhancing focus on relevant signal characteristics and cross-modal interactions. This study evaluated the proposed framework on a large-scale OSAHS dataset, combined from publicly available sources and data provided by a collaborative university hospital. It demonstrated superior diagnostic performance compared to conventional machine learning models and existing deep learning approaches, effectively integrating domain knowledge with data-driven learning to produce explainable representations and robust generalization capabilities, which can potentially be utilized for clinical use. Abstract Background Bladder cancer (BLCA) is a common malignancy characterized by dysregulated transcription and a lack of effective therapeutic targets. In this study, we aimed to identify and evaluate novel targets with clinical potential essential for tumor growth in BLCA. Methods CRISPR-Cas9 screening was used to identify transcription factors essential for bladder cancer cell viability. The biological functions of KLF16 in bladder cancer were investigated both in vitro and in vivo. The regulatory mechanism between KLF16 and MYC was elucidated through a series of analyses, including RNA sequencing, quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), RNA immunoprecipitation, Western blotting, Mass spectrometry, Dual-luciferase reporter assays, Cleavage Under Targets and Tagmentation (CUT&Tag) sequencing, OptoDroplets assays, and RNA stability assay. The clinical relevance of KLF16 and MYC in bladder cancer was evaluated through analyses of public databases and immunohistochemistry. Results Krüppel-like factor 16 (KLF16) was essential for BLCA cell viability. Elevated expression of KLF16 was observed in bladder cancer tissues, and higher expression levels of KLF16 were correlated with poor progression-free survival (PFS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) probabilities in BLCA patients. Mechanistically, KLF16 mRNA competed with the mRNA of dual-specificity phosphatase 16 (DUSP16) for binding to the RNA-binding protein, WW domain binding protein 11 (WBP11), resulting in destabilization of the DUSP16 mRNA. This, in turn, led to activation of ERK1/2, which stabilized the MYC protein. Furthermore, KLF16 interacted with MYC to form nuclear condensates, thereby enhancing MYC’s transcriptional activity. Additionally, MYC transcriptionally upregulated KLF16, creating a positive feedback loop between KLF16 and MYC that amplified their oncogenic functions. Targeting this loop with bromodomain inhibitors, such as OTX015 and ABBV-744, suppressed the transcription of both KLF16 and MYC, resulting in reduced BLCA cell viability and tumor growth, as well as increased sensitivity to chemotherapy. Conclusions Our study revealed the crucial role of the KLF16/MYC regulatory axis in modulating tumor growth and chemotherapy sensitivity in BLCA, suggesting that combining bromodomain inhibitors, such as OTX015 or ABBV-744, with DDP or gemcitabine could be a promising therapeutic intervention for BLCA patients.

Abstract Tibetan antelope (Pantholops hodgsonii), a wild ruminant endemic to the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP) in China, has evolved a series of genetic and physiological adaptation strategies to thrive in the harsh plateau environments. However, limited research on the genome of this species exists. Here, we established a high-quality chromosome-level reference genome assembly of the Tibetan antelope using PacBio HiFi, DNBSEQ, and Hi-C sequencing data. The assembly, totaling 3.13 GB, consists of 31 chromosomes (29 + X + partial Y), with a Scaffold N50 length of 92.23 Mb. The quality value (QV) and Benchmarking Universal Single-Copy Ortholog (BUSCO) score were 70.14 and 98.20%, respectively, indicating that our genome sequence is of high quality and completeness. Our genome not only contribute to the genetic conservation of Tibetan antelope but also provides a valuable resource for genetic, ecological, and evolutionary research within the sub-family Caprinae.

Abstract In 2018, African swine fever virus (ASFV) emerged in China, causing extremely serious economic losses to the domestic pig industry. Infection with ASFV can cause disseminated coagulation, leading to the consumption of platelets and coagulation factors and severe bleeding. However, the mechanism of virus-induced coagulation has yet to be established. In our study, ASFV downregulated the coagulation process, as detected by D-dimer (D2D) and Factor X (F10) expression in pigs challenged with ASFV HLJ/18. In vitro, ASFV infection increased Factor IX (F9) and Factor XII (F12) expression while downregulating F10 expression in porcine alveolar macrophages (PAMs). African swine fever virus induced both intrinsic and extrinsic coagulation cascades. In addition, several encoded proteins affect the expression of the crucial coagulation protein F10, and among the encoded proteins, p72 inhibits the activity and expression of F10. Proteomic analysis also revealed that p72 is involved in the coagulation cascade. p72 can interact with F10, and its inhibitory functional domains include amino acids 423–432 and amino acids 443–452. Finally, we found that F10 and p72 interact with tripartite motif-containing protein 28 (TRIM28). TRIM28 knockdown resulted in a decrease in F10 expression. Importantly, TRIM28 contributes to the reduction in F10 protein expression regulated by p72. Our findings revealed an inhibitory effect of the viral protein p72 on the ASFV infection-induced coagulation cascade and revealed a role of TRIM28 in reducing F10 expression, revealing a molecular mechanism of ASFV-associated coagulation.

Abstract This study was conducted to investigate the association between alcohol consumption in adolescence and the risk of hypertension or prehypertension development in early adulthood. This cohort study included adolescent participants aged 12–18 years from the 2000–2011 China Health and Nutrition Survey. Cox proportional risk regression models were used to analyze the associations of the frequency of alcohol consumption, alcohol intake, and type of alcohol with the risk of developing hypertension or prehypertension. Restricted cubic spline analysis was used to assess the dose–response relationships for alcohol intake and their hazard ratios (HRs). A total of 1556 participants were included in the final analysis. Among the overall population, 448 (30.81%) and 35 (34.31%) participants developed hypertension or prehypertension, respectively. Compared with no alcohol consumption, alcohol consumption ≥ 2 times/week and consumption of ≥2 types of alcohol were associated with an increased risk of hypertension and prehypertension, with HRs of 1.97 (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.17–3.34; p = 0.011) and 1.77 (95% CI 1.01–3.09; p = 0.046), respectively. Alcohol intake of > 96 mL/week was associated with an increased risk of hypertension and prehypertension, with HRs of 2.09 (95% CI 1.12–3.90; p = 0.020) and 2.07 (95% CI 1.11–3.84; p = 0.021), respectively. The restricted cubic spline analysis showed that the risk of developing high blood pressure or prehypertension tends to increase with increasing alcohol consumption. Heavy alcohol consumption in adolescence increased the risk of developing hypertension and prehypertension in early adulthood.

Abstract Trillions of microbes colonize the ungulate gastrointestinal tract, playing a pivotal role in enhancing host nutrient utilization by breaking down cellulose and hemicellulose present in plants. Here, through large-scale metagenomic assembly, we established a catalog of 131,416 metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) and 11,175 high-quality species-level genome bins (SGBs) from 17 species of ungulates in China. Our study revealed the convergent evolution of high relative abundances of carbohydrate-active enzymes (CAZymes) in the gut microbiomes of plateau-dwelling ungulates. Notably, two significant factors contribute to this phenotype: structural variations in their gut microbiome genomes, which contain more CAZymes, and the presence of novel gut microbiota species, particularly those in the genus Cryptobacteroides, which are undergoing independent rapid evolution and speciation and have higher gene densities of CAZymes. Furthermore, these enrichment CAZymes in the gut microbiomes are highly enrichment in known metabolic pathways for short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) production. Our findings not only provide a valuable genomic resource for understanding the gut microbiomes of ungulates but also offer fresh insights into the interaction between gut microbiomes and their hosts, as well as the co-adaptation of hosts and their gut microbiomes to their environments.

Abstract Introduction Sarcomas with muscle differentiation (for example, rhabdomyosarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, and pleomorphic sarcoma) are uncommon in the adult bladder. Case presentation In this case report, we describe a 69-year-old Chinese male patient who presented to the urology outpatient clinic because of intermittent full-course macroscopic hematuria for 10 days. A B ultrasound indicated hypoechoic nodules in the right upper wall of the bladder. Transurethral resection of the bladder tumor and cystoscopic multipoint random biopsy was performed. Postoperative pathological findings showed pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma of the adult bladder. Later, he was transferred to the Department of Medical Oncology of our hospital for further postoperative chemotherapy. The chemotherapy regimen used was intravenous chemotherapy of dacarbazine with doxorubicin. The patient in this case has survived for 12 months postoperatively. Conclusion From this case, our elderly patient with early pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma of the urinary bladder received transurethral resection of bladder tumor and postoperative chemotherapy, and there had been no recurrence 12 months postoperatively. The aforementioned treatment modality may offer a favorable prognosis.

Abstract Soybean protein is of plant origin and is commonly appropriate for improving the processing characteristics of foods. This study aimed to explore a novel functional ingredient that contained soybean protein isolate (SPI) and blueberry anthocyanins (BANs). The spatial conformation and secondary structure of SPI-BANs complexes were analyzed using circular dichroism and fluorescence spectroscopy, the processing properties were investigated as well as the retention of antioxidant activity during thermal treatments. Results showed that the contents of free sulfhydryl and free amino groups in complexes increased to 3.50 and 1.19 folds than those of SPI, respectively, while the surface hydrophobicity decreased by 74.23%. Compared with SPI, the BANs-modified SPI had a smaller particle size of 29.12 nm and a lower zeta-potential of -8.73 mV and on the other hand, the complexes possessed higher solubility (83.08%) and foaming and emulsifying properties (115.08% and 54.03 m2/g). After fortification with SPI-BANs, the baking loss rate and adhesiveness of chiffon cake were reduced by 10.82% and improved to 0.24 N.mm, respectively. The high antioxidant activities of SPI-BANs under heat led to the cake’s bioactivities largely enhanced by 1.99 ~ 12.71 folds, being 345.19 µg Trolox/g for the DPPH radical scavenging activity. This study developed the functional food ingredients as antioxidants and a substitute for animal-based proteins in bakery products, which was safe and sustainable by using the dietary components from plant resources. Abstract Background Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) infection and transmission pose a serious threat to the global swine industry. The search for a new host factor with anti-PEDV effect may be an effective potential target for the development of novel antiviral drugs. Interferon-induced transmembrane proteins (IFITMs) play a crucial role in the innate immune response triggered by viral infection, and it has been suggested that IFITMs can block the early stages of viral replication, but the mechanism of action is currently unclear. The current study sheds light on the role of IFITM1 in PEDV infection. Specifically, overexpression of IFITM1 suppresses PEDV proliferation in IPEC-J2 cells, while knockdown of IFITM1 has the opposite effect. Collectively, these findings underscore IFITM1’s inhibitory role in PEDV infection, with critical implications for the residues and structural motifs within its CTD. Results The study demonstrates that IFITM1, an interferon-induced transmembrane protein, plays a critical role in the antiviral response against Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV). Notably: Overexpression of IFITM1 suppresses PEDV proliferation.IFITM1 co-localizes with PEDV virions in the cytoplasm surrounding the nucleus.Immunocolloidal gold electron microscopy reveals IFITM proteins embedded on the surface of PEDV virions.IFITM1 directly interacts with the N protein of PEDV.C-terminal domain mutations in IFITM1 compromise its inhibitory function against PEDV, with specific amino acid residues playing a pronounced role.These findings enhance our understanding of innate immunity and antiviral defense mechanisms, with potential implications for therapeutic strategies against PEDV infection. Conclusions The study establishes IFITM1 as a key player in the antiviral response against PEDV. Its inhibitory function, co-localization with virions, and interaction with the N protein provide valuable insights. Notably, the CTD mutations of IFITM1 have a fundamental impact on its modulatory action. These findings contribute to our understanding of innate immunity and antiviral defense mechanisms, with potential implications for therapeutic strategies against PEDV infection. Graphical Abstract

Abstract Cyanidin‐3‐O‐glucoside (C3G), an abundant and widely utilized anthocyanin monomer, has been shown to significantly inhibit cholesterol absorption. Building on our previous research demonstrating the role of Lactobacillus as a specific intestinal microflora associated with C3G‐mediated cholesterol absorption inhibition, the present study aimed to evaluate the inhibitory effects of C3G on high‐fat diet–induced cholesterol absorption. Results indicate that C3G significantly reduced total cholesterol and triglyceride levels while suppressing red grease formation in Caco‐2 cells. In vivo, C3G ameliorated blood lipid levels and mitigated small intestinal damage, as evidenced by restored villus length and basal thickness. Additionally, C3G upregulated intestinal farnesoid X receptor (FXR) mRNA expression and inhibited the expression of key cholesterol absorption proteins, Niemann‐Pick C1‐Like 1 and acetyl‐CoA acetyltransferase 2. Furthermore, C3G increased short‐chain fatty acid content and activated ileal bile acid‐binding protein expression. C3G also inhibited intestinal bile acid (BA) reabsorption, promoted fecal BA excretion, and obstructed cholesterol emulsification. Moreover, C3G modulated gut microbiota abundance and diversity, increasing the abundance of Akkermansia, Bifidobacterium, Coprococcus, Ruminococcus, and Butyricicoccus. In conclusion, our findings suggest that C3G inhibits cholesterol absorption by reshaping intestinal flora composition and regulating the FXR‐BAs axis. This study provides a theoretical foundation for the use of C3G as a raw material for inhibiting cholesterol absorption.

Abstract Tin-based perovskite solar cells have garnered attention for their biocompatibility, narrow bandgap, and long thermal carrier lifetime. However, nip-type tin-based perovskite solar cells have underperformed largely due to the indiscriminate use of metal oxide electron transport layers originally designed for nip-type lead-based perovskite solar cells. Here, we reveal that this underperformance is caused by oxygen vacancies and deeper energy levels in metal oxide. To address these issues, we propose a metal chalcogenide electron transport layer, specifically Sn(S0.92Se0.08)2, which circumvents the oxygen molecules desorption and impedes the Sn2+ oxidation. As a result, tin-based perovskite solar cells with Sn(S0.92Se0.08)2 demonstrate a V OC increase from 0.48 – 0.73 V and a power conversion efficiency boost from 6.98 – 11.78%. Additionally, these cells exhibit improved stability, retaining over 95% of their initial efficiency after 1632 h. Our findings showcase metal chalcogenides as promising candidates for future nip-type tin-based perovskite solar cell applications.

Due to the limited self-repair ability of the annulus fibrosus (AF), current tissue engineering strategies tend to use structurally biomimetic scaffolds for AF defect repair. However, the poor integration between implanted scaffolds and tissue severely affects their therapeutic effects. To solve this issue, we prepared a multifunctional scaffold containing loaded lysyl oxidase (LOX) plasmid DNA exosomes and manganese dioxide nanoparticles (MnO2 NPs). LOX facilitates extracellular matrix (ECM) cross-linking, while MnO2 NPs inhibit excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS)-induced ECM degradation at the injury site, enhancing the crosslinking effect of LOX. Our results revealed that this multifunctional scaffold significantly facilitated the integration between the scaffold and AF tissue. Cells were able to migrate into the scaffold, indicating that the scaffold was not encapsulated as a foreign body by fibrous tissue. The functional scaffold was closely integrated with the tissue, effectively enhancing the mechanical properties, and preventing vascular invasion, which emphasized the importance of scaffold-tissue integration in AF repair.

It is one concern of the researchers how magnesium (Mg) alloys solidify under different conditions and how their microstructure evolves during solidification, and what are the relationship between the macroscopic properties and various microstructures. Such issues are difficult to be revealed through experiments only, especially for the newly developed Mg alloys, for which there is a lack of more systematic and mature system. However, multi-scale modeling and simulation can promote and deepen our understanding of the microstructure and its deformation mechanism. In this paper, we review and summarize the recent research progress of numerical simulation of Mg alloys in forming and microstructure, namely casting, extrusion, rolling, and welding, using crystal plasticity finite element (CPFEM) and molecular dynamics (DM) methods. Besides, the methods and innovations of modeling are also summarized. Lastly, the paper discusses the development prospects and challenges of the numerical simulation in the field of Mg alloys.

Porous Si3N4 ceramics are promising high-temperature wave transparent materials for use as radomes or antenna windows in hypersonic aircraft. However, a trade-off between the dielectric and thermomechanical properties is still challenging. Therefore, tailoring the microstructure and properties of porous Si3N4 is highly important. In this work, porous Si3N4 ceramics with uniform and fine structures were obtained via dual-solvent templating combined with the freeze-casting method. The as-prepared porous Si3N4 ceramic, with 56% porosity, possesses high mechanical properties, with flexural strength and compressive strength values of 95±14.8 and 132±4.5 MPa, respectively. The uniform spherical pore structure improved the mechanical properties, and the rod-shaped Si3N4 grains facilitated crack deflection. The decreased pore size effectively blocks phonon transport, leading to a low thermal conductivity of only 4.2 W/(K·m). Moreover, the porous Si3N4 ceramic maintains a small dielectric constant of 3.3, and the dielectric loss is stable between 1.0×10−3–4.0×10−3, which guarantees its potential application in high-temperature wave-transparent components. These results significantly advanced the development of high-performance wave-transparent materials used in hypersonic aircraft.

Abstract Objective Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a clinically heterogeneous and complex autoimmune disease, making the prediction of therapeutic responses a significant challenge. This study aims to assess the role of clinical and synovial biomarkers in predicting poor response to adalimumab treatment in RA patients. Methods This single-center prospective study included 56 RA patients who had an inadequate response to methotrexate (MTX). At baseline, comprehensive assessments including complete blood count, liver and kidney function tests, blood glucose levels, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), rheumatoid factor (RF), anti-citrullinated protein antibody (ACPA), as well as counts of swollen and tender joints, Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) score, pain visual analogue scale (VAS) scores, and DAS28-CRP scores were conducted. Synovial biopsies were performed, followed by an efficacy evaluation at 12 weeks of adalimumab treatment. Patients not meeting the ACR20 criteria were classified into the non-responder group, with the remainder categorized as the responder group. Results Out of the participants, 24 (42.9%) failed to achieve ACR20 with adalimumab treatment. Non-responders exhibited higher infiltration of plasma cells in the synovium. Multivariate logistic regression analysis identified the presence of plasma cells as an independent risk factor for inadequate response to adalimumab. Conclusion Inadequate responses to adalimumab in RA patients were associated with increased plasma cell infiltrations in the synovium. These findings suggest a promising target for tailored therapies in rheumatoid arthritis.

Abstract The Mississippi Valley–type (MVT) deposits reached their maximum abundance during the final assembly of Pangea. The intense orogenic activity during this assembly in relatively low latitudes created abundant opportunities for the migration of sedimentary brines into the interior carbonate platforms landward of the orogenic belts, leading to the formation of MVT deposits. Thus, dating the MVT deposits can potentially aid in the reconstruction of the plate tectonic evolution during the assembly of Pangea. The Yangtze Craton hosts significant carbonate-hosted Zn–Pb deposits (> 60 Mt Pb + Zn metals), accounting for 30% of China’s Zn–Pb resources. However, determining the timing of zinc and lead mineralization in these reservoirs is challenging. This study employs LA-ICP-MS U–Pb geochronology on calcites to date Zn–Pb deposits hosted in Lower Cambrian limestone in the Huayuan orefield. Three generations of calcite formation were dated: the first recorded the pre-ore deposition of Lower Cambrian limestone at 517 ± 10 Ma, the second marked a hydrothermal event linked to stratiform sphalerite ore formation at 501.4 ± 8.4 Ma, and the third was associated with discordant breccia-hosted Zn–Pb mineralization at 397.5 ± 9.6 Ma. Our results indicate that Paleozoic carbonate-hosted Pb–Zn mineralization in the Yangtze Craton is linked to (1) the final assembly of Gondwana in the late Cambrian-early Ordovician (520–480 Ma); and (2) the intracontinental orogeny response to Jiangnan Uplift (420–400 Ma). This study highlights the temporal relationship between low temperature carbonate-hosted mineralization and orogenic events that are consistent with classic MVT models worldwide. It also contributes geochronological data for the reconstruction of plate-tectonic evolution during Pangea assembly. Furthermore, it demonstrates the potential of in situ U–Pb calcite geochronology to date ore deposits lacking syn-ore minerals suitable for traditional dating methods.

Abstract The LONP1 gene encodes Lon protease, which is responsible for degrading damaged or misfolded proteins and binding mitochondrial DNA. Previously, LONP1 variants have been identified in patients with cerebral, ocular, dental, auricular, and skeletal anomalies (CODAS syndrome) and mitochondrial diseases. Seizures were occasionally observed. However, the association between LONP1 and epilepsy remains elusive. In this study, we performed trio-based whole-exome sequencing in a cohort of 450 patients with unexplained epilepsy and identified four pairs of compound heterozygous LONP1 variants in four unrelated cases. All patients exhibited good responses to anti-seizure medications and demonstrated no developmental delay or intellectual disabilities. The variant allele frequencies observed in this study were absent or low in the general population and were significantly lower than those of benign variants. At least one variant in each biallelic pair affected hydrogen bonding and/or altered protein stability. The CODAS syndrome-associated variants were concentrated in the AAA+ module, especially the α domain. Four of the five mitochondrial disease-associated variants were located in the AAA + domain and the NTD5H and NTD3H subdomains. In contrast, each of the biallelic variants from the patients with pure epilepsy had one variant located in the linker domain, and the other variant located in the mitochondrial targeting sequence or P domain. This study suggested that LONP1 gene is potentially a novel candidate gene for pure epilepsy. The phenotypic variation is associated with the sub-regional effects of variants.

Abstract The aim of this study is to perform proteomic and metabolomic analyses in bilateral renal pelvis urine of patients with unilateral uric acid kidney stones to identify the specific urinary environment associated with uric acid stone formation. Using cystoscopy-guided insertion of ureteral catheters, bilateral renal pelvis urine samples are collected. Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) is employed to identify differentially expressed proteins and metabolites in the urine environment. Differentially expressed proteins and metabolites are further analyzed for their biological functions and potential metabolic pathways through Gene Ontology (GO) analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis. In the urine from the stone-affected side, eight differential proteins were significantly upregulated, and six metabolites were dysregulated. The uric acid stone urinary environment showed an excess of α-ketoisovaleric acid and 3-methyl-2-oxovaleric acid, which may contribute to the acidification of the urine. Functional and pathway analyses indicate that the dysregulated metabolites are mainly associated with insulin resistance and branched chain amino acid metabolism.

Abstract Background In China, decline disease with unknown etiology appeared as an epidemic among bayberry trees in the southern area of the Yangtze River. Furthermore, the use of beneficial microbes has been reported to be able to reduce the incidence of this disease, emphasizing the association of this disease with microorganisms. Therefore, it has become critical to uncover the microbiome’s function and related metabolites in remodeling the immunity of bayberry trees under biotic or abiotic stresses. Results The amplicon sequencing data revealed that decline disease significantly altered bacterial and fungal communities, and their metabolites in the four distinct niches, especially in the rhizosphere soils and roots. Furthermore, the microbial communities in the four niches correlated with the metabolites of the corresponding niches of bayberry plants, and the fungal and bacterial networks of healthy trees were shown to be more complex than those of diseased trees. In addition, the role of microbiome in the resistance of bayberry trees to the occurrence of decline disease was justified by the isolation, identification, and characterization of important microorganisms such as significantly enriched Bacillus ASV804, Pseudomonas ASV815 in healthy plants, and significantly enriched Stenotrophomonas ASV719 in diseased plants. Conclusion Overall, our study revealed that the occurrence of decline disease altered the microbiome and its metabolites in four ecological niches in particular rhizosphere soils and roots of bayberry, which provides new insight into the control of bayberry decline disease.

As a reactor which can reusing low-abundance 235U resources, fast reactor construction is an important part of China’s three-step nuclear energy process. Due to high burnup and strong irradiation of the spent fuel oxides of fast reactor, the dry reprocessing method based on molten salt electrolytic refining has unique advantages such as the ability to handle the widest range of fuel types and higher stability of the reaction system. Before the electrolytic refining step, the oxide spent fuel needs to be reduced to metal through electrical or thermal reduction. Thermal reduction requires the use of calcium, lithium, and magnesium as reducing agents. Compared with other alkali metal reduction process, lithium reduction process at high temperature has the advantages of simple recovery process, moderate temperature and lower equipment requirements, it may become the future tendency of thermal reduction. In this paper, the research progress of lithium high-temperature chemical reduction of spent fuel in dry reprocessing and compared the characteristics of lithium thermal reduction processes in various countries was investigated. The mechanism of high-temperature reduction with lithium was deduced based on thermodynamic calculation, and the influencing factors of reaction were discussed from the perspective of kinetics. Finally, the relevant research on the electrolytic recovery of residual salt from thermal reduction was described. The different reaction routes and technological process of lithium thermal reduction were summarized. The shortcomings of existing research were summarized, and the trend of lithium thermal reduction in the future was prospected. It gave a reference for the research of the process flow in China’s dry reprocessing.

In this study, the mechanism of film formation through glutathione-induced lysozyme interface assembly was verified by spectroscopic methods, and the formed film was characterized by ellipsometry. N-(1-pyrenyl)maleimide (NPM) staining demonstrated that reduced glutathione broken the disulfide bonds of lysozyme leading to release of free sulfhydryl groups. Together, tryptophan fluorescence spectroscopy and lysozyme activity assay verified that the disulfide bond Cys6-Cys127 in lysozyme was broken. In addition, the unfolded lysozyme was found to still have antibacterial activity. The lysozyme film was transparent and colorless. Atom force microscopy (AFM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that it was composed of lysozyme aggregates with a uniform, smooth and dense surface. The results of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and laser confocal Raman spectroscopy (LCRS) indicated that the lysozyme nanofilm might possess interfacial adhesion. The results of ellipsometry showed that the maximum thickness of the film was approximately 900 nm, and did not increase without limit with the increase in incubation time or the concentration of the reactants. Its stiffness value, elastic modulus and hardness were 29.32–34.21 μN/nm, 24.00–27.93 GPa, and 0.44–0.49 GPa, respectively, which were in the strength range of the protein film. The three-phase contact angle of the film was around 70°, indicating good hydrophilicity. Its thermal stability was high, and no degradation occurred at 200 ℃. The preparation of the lysozyme nanofilm provides a good idea and reference for the construction of novel edible coatings.

According to the complex differential accumulation history of deep marine oil and gas in superposition basins, the Lower Paleozoic petroleum system in Tahe Oilfield of Tarim Basin is selected as a typical case, and the process of hydrocarbon generation and expulsion, migration and accumulation, adjustment and transformation of deep oil and gas is restored by means of reservoine-forming dynamics simulation. The thermal evolution history of the Lower Cambrian source rocks in Tahe Oilfield reflects the obvious differences in hydrocarbon generation and expulsion process and intensity in different tectonic zones, which is the main reason controlling the differences in deep oil and gas phases. The complex transport system composed of strike-slip fault and unconformity, etc. controlled early migration and accumulation and late adjustment of deep oil and gas, while the Middle Cambrian gypsum-salt rock in inner carbonate platform prevented vertical migration and accumulation of deep oil and gas, resulting in an obvious “fault-controlled” feature of deep oil and gas, in which the low potential area superimposed by the NE-strike-slip fault zone and deep oil and gas migration was conducive to accumulation, and it is mainly beaded along the strike-slip fault zone in the northeast direction. The dynamic simulation of reservoir formation reveals that the spatio-temporal configuration of “source-fault-fracture-gypsum-preservation” controls the differential accumulation of deep oil and gas in Tahe Oilfield. The Ordovician has experienced the accumulation history of multiple periods of charging, vertical migration and accumulation, and lateral adjustment and transformation, and deep oil and gas have always been in the dynamic equilibrium of migration, accumulation and escape. The statistics of residual oil and gas show that the deep stratum of Tahe Oilfield still has exploration and development potential in the Ordovician Yingshan Formation and Penglaiba Formation, and the Middle and Upper Cambrian ultra-deep stratum has a certain oil and gas resource prospect. This study provides a reference for the dynamic quantitative evaluation of deep oil and gas in the Tarim Basin, and also provides a reference for the study of reservoir formation and evolution in carbonate reservoir of paleo-craton basin.

Abstract In this study, the chloride ion (Cl−) binding rate of sulfoaluminate cement (SAC) mortars containing different mineral admixtures was investigated. This is essential to improve the durability of concrete structures in high Cl− environments, especially where they are susceptible to Cl− attack such as coastlines and marine structures. The effects of Cl− concentration, curing age, and the type and amount of mineral admixture on the Cl− binding rate of SAC mortars were analyzed. It was found that the content of water-soluble Cl− in SAC mortars decreased with the increase of curing age, while the Cl− binding ratio increased accordingly, indicating that its resistance to internal Cl− permeation increased. The addition of fly ash (FA) and ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) can significantly improve the Cl− binding rate of SAC mortars, and the Cl− binding rate increases to 46.6% with 20% of FA and 38.7% with 40% of GGBS. The effects of mineral admixtures on the microstructure and phase composition of SAC mortars were further investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The results showed that the addition of FA and GGBS promoted the formation of C-S-H (calcium silicate hydrate) gels and improved the resistance of SAC mortars to Cl− penetration. On the other hand, the excessive addition of silica fume (SF) decreased the Cl− binding rate, whereas a moderate amount of limestone powder (LP) improved the Cl− binding rate. The study of the Cl− binding rate of SAC mortars can help to evaluate their resistance to Cl− erosion in real projects, thus guiding the optimization of concrete formulations and the improvement of durability.

Abstract Unilateral Nephrectomy is one of the most common treatments for surgical diseases of the kidney but often results in postsurgical acute kidney injury (AKI). In the current study, we aimed to investigate the risk factors for AKI in patients who have received Unilateral Nephrectomy. We retrospectively analysed 528 patients who underwent Unilateral Nephrectomy for different etiologies between January 2013 and December 2018 at the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University. We recorded the prevalence and severity of AKI, age, gender, diabetes, body mass index (BMI), hypertension, preoperative renal function, etiology, performed surgically, anaemia, albumin, coagulation, lactate dehydrogenase, nitrogen (BUN), and uric acid. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to investigate the predictors of AKI in patients with Unilateral Nephrectomy. Overall, 218 of the 528 patients (41.2%) developed AKI during their hospitalisation. Univariate analysis showed that AKI was significantly associated with gender (male, OR = 1.866, P = 0.001), overweight (OR = 2.19, P = 0.0002), and surgical approach (OR = 1.7, P = 0.018), while multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that male gender (OR = 1.953, P = 0.001), overweight (OR = 2.176, P = 0.001), and preoperative renal function (OR = 0.507, P = 0.001) were independent factors for AKI. Regression analysis among different etiologies showed significant differences in postoperative AKI. After Unilateral nephrectomy, AKI is more likely to occur in overweight male patients with normal kidney function. AKI occurred more frequently in patients who are kidney donors, but rarely in those with non-function kidneys.

Abstract In order to clarify the microscopic dynamics mechanism of CH4, CO2 and H2O adsorption and diffusion in coal, and to reveal the mechanism of the influence of different temperatures and pressures on the adsorption and diffusion characteristics of coal adsorbed CH4, CO2 and H2O molecules. In this paper, the macromolecular structure model of Jixi gas-fat coal was constructed, based on the Giant Canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) and Molecular Dynamics (MD) methods. The adsorption-diffusion characteristics of CH4,CO2 and H2O single-component gases in the gas-fat coal macromolecule model at temperatures ranging from 273.15 K to 313.15 K and pressures ranging from 0.01 MPa to 15 MPa were investigated by using Material Studio software. The research results indicated that: The adsorption of three gases, CH4, CO2 and H2O, increased with the increase of equilibrium pressure, and the adsorption isotherms conformed to Langmuir type I isotherms. The amount of saturated adsorption of CH4 ranged from 11.18 to 14.37 ml/g, the saturated adsorption of CO2 ranged from 20.40 to 24.70 ml/g, and the saturated adsorption of H2O ranged from 66.61 to 84.21 ml/g. With the increase of temperature, the saturated adsorption of CH4 and CO2 both decreased, and the saturated adsorption of H2O firstly increased and then decreased, and the adsorption of H2O by low temperature and high temperature had both an inhibitory effect on the adsorption of H2O. The potential energy distributions of CH4, CO2 and H2O molecules are poisson distributed. The absolute values of the most available interaction energies are, from highest to lowest: H2O > CO2 > CH4; the activation energies for diffusion of CH4, CO2 and H2O are 12.20 kJ/mol, 3.36 kJ/mol, and 8.47 kJ/mol, respectively, and the diffusion of CO2 is the more likely to occur. The adsorption of CH4 and CO2 in coal is physical adsorption, while the adsorption process of H2O molecules is beyond the scope of physical adsorption. The absolute value of the interaction energy is H2O > CO2 > CH4 in descending order.

Abstract In recent years, CD9 has been extensively studied as a potential biomarker for cancer. However, the biological role of CD9 in gliomas remains unclear. This study investigates the function of CD9 in gliomas and its molecular mechanisms. Utilizing pan-cancer analysis with TCGA, CGGA, and GEO databases, differential expression of CD9 was observed in 11 tumor types within the TCGA cohort, and it was associated with patient survival rates. Analysis of the CGGA glioma database revealed that patients with high CD9 expression had lower survival rates. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) for GSE16011 was greater than 0.7, indicating a high discriminative ability. Abstract Kadsura heteroclita (Roxb) Craib also named Xuetong in Tujia ethnomedicine in China, has been traditionally employed in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treatment. Our preceding investigations have elucidated that Xuetongsu (XTS), a triterpenoid compound predominant in Xuetong, showed excellent anti-RA-fibroblast-like synoviocytes (RAFLS) proliferation effect. However, XTS belongs to the trace components of the Xuetong plant, which poses certain limitations to the research. In this study, we designed a method that enhanced the extraction yield of XTS and explored the mechanism of its inhibition of RAFLS cell proliferation and migration in the treatment of RA. The results displayed that XTS reduced RAFLS cell proliferation, with an IC50 value of 4.68 ± 0.65 µM. A series of experimental techniques were utilized to show that XTS induce apoptosis in RAFLS cells at concentrations ranging from 4.5 to 18 µM, including wound healing assay, flow cytometry, and western blot analysis. Moreover, XTS at dosages of 0.42–0.84 mg/kg markedly attenuated paw swelling and synovial hyperplasia in arthritic rats, primarily through the inhibition of RAFLS migration and promotion of RAFLS apoptosis via High mobility group box 1 (HMGB-1)/Matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9)/MMP-13 signaling pathway and Bcl-2/Bax/Caspase-3 signaling pathway, respectively.

Abstract Background The hippocampus, with its complex subfields, is linked to numerous neuropsychiatric traits. While most research has focused on its global structure or a few specific subfields, a comprehensive analysis of hippocampal substructures and their genetic correlations across a wide range of neuropsychiatric traits remains underexplored. Given the hippocampus’s high heritability, considering hippocampal and subfield volumes (HASV) as endophenotypes for neuropsychiatric conditions is essential. Methods We analyzed MRI-derived volumetric data of hippocampal and subfield structures from 41,525 UK Biobank participants. Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) on 24 HASV traits were conducted, followed by genetic correlation, overlap, and Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses with 10 common neuropsychiatric traits. Polygenic risk scores (PRS) based on HASV traits were also evaluated for predicting these traits. Results Our analysis identified 352 independent genetic variants surpassing a significance threshold of 2.1 × 10−9 within the 24 HASV traits, located across 93 chromosomal regions. Notably, the regions 12q14.3, 17q21.31, 12q24.22, 6q21, 9q33.1, 6q25.1, and 2q24.2 were found to influence multiple HASVs. Abstract Background Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) production is severely threatened by bacterial wilt, caused by the phytopathogenic bacterium Ralstonia solanacearum. Recently, nano-enabled strategies have shown tremendous potential in crop disease management. Objectives This study investigates the efficacy of biogenic nanoformulations (BNFs), comprising biogenic silica nanoparticles (SiNPs) and melatonin (MT), in controlling bacterial wilt in tomato. Methods SiNPs were synthesized using Zizania latifolia leaves extract. Further, MT containing BNFs were synthesized through the one-pot approach. Nanomaterials were characterized using standard characterization techniques. Greenhouse disease assays were conducted to assess the impact of SiNPs and BNFs on tomato plant immunity and resistance to bacterial wilt. Results The SiNPs and BNFs exhibited a spherical morphology, with particle sizes ranging from 13.02 nm to 22.33 nm for the SiNPs and 17.63 nm to 21.79 nm for the BNFs, indicating a relatively uniform size distribution and consistent shape across both materials. Greenhouse experiments revealed that soil application of BNFs outperformed SiNPs, significantly enhancing plant immunity and reducing bacterial wilt incidence by 78.29% in tomato plants by maintaining oxidative stress homeostasis via increasing the activities of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (31.81%), peroxidase (32.9%), catalase (32.65%), and ascorbate peroxidase (47.37%) compared to untreated infected plants. Additionally, BNFs induced disease resistance by enhancing the production of salicylic acid and activating defense-related genes (e.g., SlPAL1, SlICS1, SlNPR1, SlEDS, SlPD4, and SlSARD1) involved in phytohormones signaling in infected tomato plants. High-throughput 16 S rRNA sequencing revealed that BNFs promoted growth of beneficial rhizosphere bacteria (Gemmatimonadaceae, Ramlibacter, Microscillaceae, Anaerolineaceae, Chloroplast and Phormidium) in both healthy and diseased plants, while suppressing R. solanacearum abundance in infected plants. Conclusion Overall, these findings suggest that BNFs offer a more promising and sustainable approach for managing bacterial wilt disease in tomato plants. Graphical Abstract

To address the issues of low bioavailability, degradation during processing, and limited use in precision nutrition of anthocyanins (ACNs). ACNs nanoparticles using ACNs as the core, soybean lecithin constructed-Liposome (Lipo), and Gum Arabic (GA) as the carrier were prepared in this study, namely Liposome/Gum Arabic-anthocyanins (Lipo/GA-ACNs) nanoparticles. In this study, nanoparticles of ACNs with ACNs as the core and liposomes (Lipo) constructed using soy lecithin and gum arabic (GA) as carriers, namely liposome/gum arabic-anthocyanins (Lipo/GA-ACNs) nanoparticles, were prepared. Environmental factors and in vitro simulated digestion on the stability of Lipo/GA-ACNs nanoparticles with various formulations were investigated. Additionally, the in vitro lipid-lowering activity of Lipo/GA-ACNs nanoparticles after digestion was examined. Results showed that Lipo/GA-ACNs nanoparticles had good stability under simulated thermal processing and different ion environments. When the ACNs to GA mass ratio was 1:10, the Lipo/GA-ACNs nanoparticles inhibited lipid droplet accumulation and reactive oxygen species accumulation in HepG-2 cells 3.8% and 1.99% more effectively than ACNs after simulated digestion. This study concluded that Lipo/1.0GA was a promising oral delivery system to deliver ACNs and achieve liver lipid-lowering, with the potential to be developed into functional foods with precision nutritional properties.

Abstract Objective This retrospective aims to develop a comprehensive predictive model based on CT radiomic features and clinical parameters, facilitating early preoperative diagnosis of pyonephrosis. Methods Clinical and radiological data from 311 patients treated for upper urinary tract stones with obstructive pyelohydronephrosis, between January 2018 and May 2023, were retrospectively collected. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted on clinical data to identify independent risk factors for pyonephrosis. A clinical model was developed using logistic regression. The 3D Slicer software was employed to manually delineate the region of interest (ROI) in the preoperative CT images, corresponding to the area of pyelohydronephrosis, for feature extraction. The optimal radiomic features were selected to construct radiomic models and calculate the radiomic score (Radscore). Subsequently, a combined clinical–radiomic model—the nomogram—was established by integrating the Radscore with independent risk factors. This paper develops a new approach for reliability-based design (RBD) of tunnel face support pressure from a quantile value perspective. A surrogate model is constructed to calculate the collapse pressures of the random samples generated by a single run of Monte Carlo simulation (MCS). The cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the collapse pressure is then obtained and the support pressure aiming at a target failure probability is chosen as the upper quantile value of the collapse pressures. The proposed approach does not require repetitive reliability analyses compared to the existing methods. Moreover, a direct relationship between the target failure probability and the required support pressure is established. An illustrative example is used to demonstrate the implementation procedure. The accuracy of the reliability-based support pressures is verified by direct MCS incorporating with three-dimensional numerical simulations. Finally, the influencing factors, including the sample size of MCS, the correlation coefficient between random variables, the choice of experimental points, and the surrogate model, are investigated. This method can play a complementary role to available approaches due to its advantages of simplicity and efficiency.

Genetic factors, particularly, de novo variants (DNV), and an environment factor, exposure to pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), were reported to be associated with risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD); however, how they jointly affect the severity of ASD symptom is unclear. We assessed the severity of core ASD symptoms affected by functional de novo variants or PIH. We selected phenotype data from Simon's Simplex Collection database, used genotypes from previous studies, and created linear regression models. We found that ASD patients carrying DNV with PIH exposure had increased adaptive and cognitive ability, decreased social problems, and enhanced repetitive behaviors; however, there was no difference in patients without DNV between those with or without PIH exposure. In addition, the DNV genes carried by patients exposed to PIH were enriched in ubiquitin-dependent proteolytic processes, highlighting how candidate genes in pathways and environments interact. The results indicate the joint contribution of DNV and PIH to ASD.
