Food production in controlled cultivation areas plays a crucial role in increasing productivity and offsetting supply shortages. Product yields, water consumption, and energy use are the main parameters determining the performance of food production in a greenhouse. Smart technology is an effective solution to improve these parameters. This study aimed to identify the components, challenges, and requirements for the development of smart agriculture in greenhouses. Our case study focused on Tehran province, which encompasses a significant portion of the total greenhouses in Iran. The statistical population consisted of 20 subject-matter experts with research or executive experience in greenhouse automation, selected purposefully. Questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were used in this study to collect data. First, we identified the variables affecting the development of smart agriculture in greenhouses by using a literature review and semi-structured interviews with experts, Then, the experts were asked to evaluate the cross-influence of the identified variables through pairwise comparison. Finally, data analysis was done using MICMAC software. The findings indicate that the identified requirements and challenges have had a significant influence on the lack of smart agriculture in greenhouses. Through network analysis of influence and dependence relationships, it was found that economic requirements and challenges, technical and infrastructural requirements and challenges, legal and regulatory requirements, and institutional requirements were the most influential variables in the development of smart agriculture in Tehran province. Background: Marital status is among the factors influencing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, the precise relationship remains incompletely understood. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the association between marital status and the incidence of T2DM., Methods: A review and meta-analysis of observational studies were conducted to investigate the relationship between marital status and diabetes incidence. We searched three databases, including PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus, for relevant studies published up to August 16th, 2023. In our initial search, we identified a total of 358 articles. After a demanding screening process involving evaluating titles, abstracts, and full-text content, we ultimately included six studies for our meta-analysis., Result: Comprising a total of 1,440,904 participants, our study found that in comparison to married individuals, unmarried participants exhibited a higher likelihood of developing diabetes [odds ratio (OR): 1.47, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.88-2.45, I 2 : 91%, p -value = 0.14]. Divorced participants had a reduced likelihood of developing diabetes compared to married participants (OR: 0.84, 95% CI: 0.77-0.91, I 2 : 17%, p  < 0.001). Similarly, widowed participants showed a lower risk of developing diabetes compared to divorced participants (OR: 0.35, 95% CI: 0.26-0.46, I 2 : 83%, p  < 0.00001)., Conclusion: This study provides strong evidence of links between marital status and type 2 diabetes risk. Unmarried individuals are more susceptible to T2DM, divorced individuals have a lower risk, and widowed individuals exhibit reduced T2DM risk. Background and Aim: Diabetes raises the risk of dementia, mortality, and cognitive decline in the elderly, potentially because of hereditary variables such as APOE. In this study, we aim to evaluate Diabetes mellitus and the risk of incident dementia in APOE ɛ4 carriers., Method: We thoroughly searched PubMed (Medline), Scopus, and Google Scholar databases for related articles up to September 2023. The titles, abstracts, and full texts of articles were reviewed; data were extracted and analyzed., Result: This meta-analysis included nine cohorts and seven cross-sectional articles with a total of 42,390 population. The study found that APOE ɛ4 carriers with type 2 diabetes (T2D) had a 48% higher risk of developing dementia compared to non-diabetic carriers (Hazard Ratio;1.48, 95%CI1.36-1.60). The frequency of dementia was 3 in 10 people (frequency: 0.3; 95%CI (0.15-0.48). No significant heterogeneity was observed. Egger's test, which we performed, revealed no indication of publication bias among the included articles (p = 0.2)., Conclusion: Overall, diabetes increases the risk of dementia, but further large-scale studies are still required to support the results of current research., (© 2024. β2-adrenergic receptors (β2AR) are GTP-binding protein (G-protein) coupled receptors widely distributed in human tissue. Inhaled β2-agonist drugs exert their primary effect on the β2AR of bronchial smooth muscles, causing relaxation and bronchial dilatation. Polymorphisms in the β2AR gene have been identified, which may affect responsiveness to β2-agonists and disease severity in asthmatics. Nine single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within the coding region and eight SNPs within in the 5' upstream region of the β2AR gene have been identified. The two most studied polymorphisms are mutations in the coding region at codon 16, Arg to Gly (Arg16Gly) and at codon 27, Gln to Glu (Gln27Glu). Evidence suggests that carriers of Gly16, as well as carriers of Gln27, are prone to down-regulation of β2AR. Patients who are homozygous for Arg16 and/or Glu 27 may be more susceptible to tachyplaxis with chronic use of β2-agonists. Although β2AR polymorphism is not related to the severity of asthma, patients with nocturnal asthma have higher frequency of Gly16. A polymorphism in the 5' upstream region, 5' leader cistron (5'LC), encodes for a protein that regulates mRNA transcription. The Cys19 polymorphism in the 5'LC is associated with higher expression of β2AR. More recent studies have focused on combinations of polymorphisms across the gene region (haplotypes). The interaction of multiple SNPs within a haplotype may control β2AR function resulting in different phenotypic response in patients with asthma. β2AR polymorphism may have a significant implication in the pathophysiology of asthma and therapeutic response.
