The efficacious treatment of muscle and joint pain relies heavily on etofenamate (ETO) and benzyl nicotinate (BN), which possess robust anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties when paired with methylparaben (MP) or benzyl alcohol (BA). In this study, we have established and validated innovative RP-UPLC methods for assessing ETO and BN in the presence of MP or BA in their dosage forms, employing eight green tools to evaluate their eco-friendliness and effectiveness. Reversed phase-ultra-performance liquid chromatography (RP-UPLC) technique employs a flow rate of 0.3 mL/min on Waters Acquity UPLC BEH Column (C18, 1.7 μm, 100 mm × 2.1 mm), detection at 254 nm using a photo diode array (PDA) detector and mobile phase of 0.05 M KH 2 PO 4 buffer, acetonitrile, and methanol (50:15:35, v/v/v) adjusted pH 6.0 with 0.2% triethylamine. For ETO, BN, MP, and BA, the calibration curves were linear and ranged from 0.005 to 1.0, from 0.001 to 0.2, from 0.002 to 0.08, and from 0.0001 to 0.1 mg/mL, respectively. The correlation value was 0.9999, and the accuracy findings ranged from 98.81% to 100.56%. Consequently, the methodology has been successfully implemented in assay testing for the pharmaceuticals in the presence of the MP or BA, demonstrating the high selectivity of these approaches. Background and Objectives: It is well known that depression, anxiety, and impulsiveness are interrelated; however, studies that have assessed their association with the coronavirus outbreak are scarce. Hence, our study aimed to evaluate the impulsivity incidence and its correlation with anxiety and depression following COVID-19 infection between November 2022 and June 2023. Materials and Methods: The 201 participants completed the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS), Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A), Sheehan Disability Scale (SDS), and short UPPS-P scales (urgency, premeditation, perseverance, sensation seeking, and positive urgency) to allow us to determine their anxiety and depression symptoms, functional impairment, and impulsivity, respectively. Results: Among our respondents, 22%, and 26.7% had moderate to severe anxiety and depression. The short UPPS-P scale significantly correlated with the HAM-A and HDRS scales. Participants with positive COVID-19 infection showed significantly higher functional impairment scores, especially in the work/study domain (mean (SD): 3.12 (2.2) vs. 2.43 (2.3); p = 0.037). COVID-19-related disruption significantly correlated with negative and positive urgency, HAM-A, HDRS, and the SDS total and subscales. Conclusions: Our findings showed a notable increase in anxiety, depression, and functional impairment among the population following COVID-19 infection. Our research highlights the correlation between impulsivity and the psychological distress experienced following the pandemic.

Background and Objectives : Although physical health is always studied for women with diabetes, the mental health aspect is generally overlooked for this chronic disease. The present study aimed to examine the prevalence of psychosomatic symptoms, namely, fibromyalgia syndrome, depression, anxiety, and insomnia, and how these symptoms related to the medications used in a cohort of women diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (DM) in Jordan. Materials and Methods : This cross-sectional study recruited women diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and validated scales (PSRS, PHQ-9, GAD-7, and ISI-A) for fibromyalgia syndrome, depression, anxiety, and insomnia were used. The associations between the different medications used and the dependent variables were examined using four separate multivariate logistic regression models. Results : Data were analyzed from 213 participants. Of them, 27.2% met the threshold for fibromyalgia syndrome diagnosis, 38% met the threshold for severe depression, 36.2% met the threshold for severe anxiety, and 39.9% met the threshold for severe insomnia. Fibromyalgia syndrome symptoms were significantly associated with glimepiride (OR = 1.92, CI = 1.00-3.68), β-blockers (OR = 2.21, CI = 1.03-4.70), diuretics (OR = 3.13, CI = 1.26-7.78), herbal remedies (OR = 2.12, CI = 0.98-4.55), and prescriptions for centrally acting medication (OR = 2.78, CI = 1.24-6.29). Significant associations were found between depression and diuretics (OR = 2.62, CI = 1.05-6.67), over-the-counter nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (OR = 3.49, CI = 1.69-7.23), and herbal remedies (OR = 5.07, CI = 2.40-10.69). In addition, anxiety was significantly related to diuretics (OR = 2.48, CI = 1.02-6.02), and OTC NSAIDs (OR = 2.60, CI = 1.29-5.21). Significant associations were evident between insomnia and β-blockers (OR = 3.23, CI = 1.51-6.95), acetaminophen (OR = 2.09, CI = 1.06-4.08), NSAIDs (OR = 4.61, CI = 2.18-9.76), and herbal remedies (OR = 5.95, CI = 2.71-13.07). Conclusions : Medications are associated with high burden of fibromyalgia syndrome, depression, anxiety, and insomnia. These findings underscore the importance of revising and optimizing the pharmacotherapy of these vulnerable patients, performing close mental health monitoring and the implementation of non-pharmacological interventions by integrating mental health services for women with chronic diseases such as diabetes.

Introduction: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a type of chronic inflammatory disorder that affects children., Aim: To investigate whether hydrocortisone or tacrolimus could be more effective for treating AD in children., Patients and Methods: This clinical randomized investigation included 100 children with AD who met the eligibility criteria. AD patients were recruited from Tanta University's Dermatology Department and divided into two groups ( n = 50)., For four months, group 1 (the hydrocortisone group) received topical hydrocortisone cream. Group 2 received topical tacrolimus for four months. A dermatologist evaluated the patients at the start and four months after the treatment had been initiated to measure serum concentrations of neutrophil chemoattractant growth-related oncogene-α (GRO-α), interferon gamma induced protein 10 (IP-10), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), vascular adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM-1), intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1). All patients were examined using the modified Eczema Area and Severity Index (mEASI) score., Results: Tacrolimus group showed a significant reduction in serum levels of all measured biomarkers ( p < 0.05) when compared to its baseline and when compared to the hydrocortisone group. Background: Antibiotics have significantly reduced mortality and improved outcomes across various medical fields; however, the rise of antibiotic resistance poses a major challenge, causing millions of deaths annually. Deprescribing, a process that involves discontinuing unnecessary antibiotics, is crucial for combating this threat. This study was designed to assess the knowledge, perceptions, and practices of physicians regarding antibiotic deprescribing in Jordan., Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted between January-February 2024 to assess the knowledge, perceptions, and practices of physicians regarding antibiotic deprescribing in Jordan. An electronic questionnaire served as the data collection tool. Descriptive analysis was performed using SPSS software version 26. Additionally, logistic regression analysis was carried out to identify independent factors associated with physicians' willingness to deprescribe antibiotics., Results: The study involved 252 physicians, primarily male (n = 168, 67.7%), with a median age of 33 years. Regarding antibiotics deprescribing, 21.8% (n = 55) expressed willingness to deprescribe inappropriate antibiotics.High awareness of deprescribing was evident, with 92.9% (n = 234) familiar with the concept, 94% (n = 237) knowledgeable about appropriate situations, and 96.8% (n = 244) recognising its potential benefits. Furthermore, 81.8% (n = 205) reported having received formal training in antibiotics deprescribing, and 85.3% (n = 215) were informed about the availability of deprescribing tools.Physicians highlighted challenges including insufficient time (44.4%, n = 112) and resistance from patients (41.3%, n = 104) and colleagues (42.1%, n = 106). Despite challenges, a significant proportion regularly assessed antibiotic necessity (46.9%, n = 117) and educated patients about antibiotic-related harms (40.5%, n = 102). Logistic regression analysis revealed no significant demographic factors influencing physicians' willingness to deprescribe antibiotics ( p  > 0.05)., Conclusion: Physicians in Jordan exhibit high awareness of antibiotics deprescribing and recognise its benefits. Challenges such as time constraints and communication barriers need to be addressed to facilitate effective deprescribing practices. Objective: This cross-sectional study aimed to assess Jordanian community pharmacists' awareness, perception, and roles concerning emergency contraceptives provision., Study Design: We administered a structured questionnaire to community pharmacists in Jordan using convenience sampling. The questionnaire included sections on demographic information, knowledge about emergency contraceptives, perception towards emergency contraceptive, and prior experience in emergency contraceptives provision., Results: A total of 299 community pharmacists responded to the study. Most pharmacists had a Pharm D/BPharm degree (94.6%) and worked in independent community pharmacies (75.6%). While pharmacists demonstrated relatively high knowledge scores regarding emergency contraception, with a median score of 10 out of 14, misconceptions persisted, particularly regarding the mechanism of action and side effects of emergency contraception. Pharmacists expressed mixed perceptions regarding emergency contraception, with a significant proportion advocating for prescription-only access (76.6%) and expressing ethical reservations (48.2%). Only 38.1% reported prior experience in emergency contraceptives provision. Regression analyses revealed that attendance at emergency contraceptives-focused workshops significantly increased the likelihood of pharmacists providing emergency contraceptives (Adjusted Odds Ratio=2.569, p = 0.001)., Conclusions: Jordanian community pharmacists exhibit readiness to provide emergency contraceptives, but persistent misconceptions and regulatory barriers hinder optimal provision. Targeted educational interventions, particularly through workshops, are crucial in enhancing pharmacists' knowledge and promoting emergency contraceptives provision., Implications: Responding pharmacists often reported the misconception that emergency contraceptives can cause abortion. Also, some pharmacists expressed religious or moral objections to prescribing oral emergency contraceptives. Dysmenorrhea, the most common gynecological pain syndrome reported in women, is understudied in refugee communities. In addition, the association between dysmenorrhea self-medication and mental health symptoms in this population is poorly understood. We aimed to examine whether the use of dysmenorrhea analgesic self-medications and other clinical factors are associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety and insomnia severity in female war refugees residing in Zaatari Camp. This study followed a cross-sectional design and was performed on a cohort of women with predefined inclusion criteria. The severity of PTSD, depression, anxiety and insomnia were assessed using Davidson Trauma Scale, the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, the General Anxiety Disorder-7, and the Arabic version of the Insomnia Severity Index, respectively. Data were analysed from 386 participants. Using OTC paracetamol was significantly associated with higher PTSD severity (B=4.16, t= 2.43, p=0.01), and severe depression (OR=1.88, 95% CI= 1.07-3.28, p=0.03), while OTC non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) was significantly associated with severe insomnia (OR=1.62, 95% CI= 1.05-2.49, p= 0.02). Background : The relationship between adult ADHD symptoms in People with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS) is understudied. This study aimed to answer two questions: are PwMS more likely to experience higher ADHD symptoms versus healthy subjects? And what are the correlates of severe ADHD symptoms in PwMS? Methods : This study followed a cross-sectional design with predefined inclusion criteria. The Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale-V1.1 (ASRS) was used to assess the ADHD symptoms severity. Results : Data were analyzed from 171 PwMS and 200 controls. Regression analysis revealed that PwMS were at a significantly (B = 3.05, t = 2.24, 95% CI = 0.37-5.73, p = 0.02) higher risk to report higher ADHD scores versus controls. In addition, PwMS with relapses in the last 6 months and PwMS reporting smartphone addiction were at a significantly higher risk for severe ADHD (B = 7.19, t = 269, 95% CI = 1.91-12.48, p = 0.008) and (B = 9.18, t = 3.47, 95% CI = 3.97-14.41, p = 0.001), respectively. In conclusion, diagnosis with MS in our study was identified as a risk for higher ADHD symptoms. Conclusions : Further research is required to establish this relationship, and holistic medical and psychological interventions are required to improve the cognitive status of PwMS.

Background and Objectives: The investigation of the psychosomatic symptoms in women residing in developing countries is still emerging. To be precise, the prevalence and correlates of severe fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, and insomnia are understudied in Arab women, as these symptoms could relate to improper self-medication. This study mainly investigated the association between self-medication with analgesics and fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, and insomnia symptoms among a community-based cohort of females in Jordan. Materials and Methods: We used a web-based cross-sectional study design. Fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, and insomnia were assessed using validated scales. The used over-the-counter (OTC) painkillers were recorded. Results: Data were analyzed from 741 women, and fibromyalgia was screened in 16.4%, depression in 37.4%, anxiety in 27.8%, and insomnia in 38.3%. Fibromyalgia was associated with "married" (OR = 1.5, 95% CI = 1.017-2.305), "using OTC acetaminophen" (OR = 1.75, 95% CI = 1.15-2.69), "using herbal remedies" (OR = 2.02, 95% CI = 1.33-3.07), and "using antiseizure medications" (OR = 2.43, 95% CI = 1.38-4.28). Severe depression was significantly associated with "age" (OR = 0.97, 95% CI = 0.96-0.99), "high school education" (OR = 1.90, 95% CI = 1.21-2.98), "smoking" (OR = 1.72, 95% CI = 1.15-2.56), "OTC acetaminophen" (OR = 1.40, 95% CI = 1.02-1.92), "OTC non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs" (OR = 1.75, 95% CI = 1.15-2.65), and "antiseizures" (OR = 2.19, 95% CI = 1.30-3.70). Severe anxiety was significantly associated with "smoking" (OR = 2.08, 95% CI = 1.40-3.12), "OTC acetaminophen" (OR = 1.48, 95% CI = 1.06-2.06), and "antiseizure medications" (OR = 2.04, 95% CI = 1.22-3.41). Severe insomnia was significantly associated with "age" (OR = 0.98, 95% CI = 0.96-0.99), "high school education" (OR = 1.58, 95% CI = 1.01-2.47), "smoking" (OR = 1.51, 95% CI = 1.01-2.25), "OTC non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs" (OR = 1.74, 95% CI = 1.13-2.64), "antiseizure medications" (OR = 1.84, 95% CI = 1.09-3.11), and "No analgesics" (OR = 0.48, 95% CI = 0.32-0.71). Conclusions: Self-medication with analgesics is associated with a high burden of psychosomatic symptoms in Arab women, and awareness campaigns are required to guide self-medication behavior.

Background: Acne vulgaris (AV) is an inflammatory skin disorder leading to scars and discomfort, its intensity has major psychological consequences such as depression., Aim: To investigate the effect of isotretinoin (ISO) on NF-κB/NLRP3, biotinidase, and HMGB and correlation with depression., Patients and Methods: This was a case-control study that involved two groups. Group 1 is 20 healthy control, and group 2 is 20 patients diagnosed with AV according to Global Acne Grading System (GAGS) and received 20 mg ISO for 2 months. Before and after therapy, the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) was applied to assess each participant's level of depression. Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-ĸB), biotinidase, high mobility group box protein (HMGB1), nucleotide-binding domain, leucine-rich-containing family, and pyrin domain-containing-3 (NLRP-3) were measured in serum samples., Results: There was no significant difference in all measured markers of healthy group before and after 2 months. Regarding group 2, there was a statistically significant decrease in all measured markers after 2 months of treatment and significant correlations between GAGS, NF-ĸB, HMGB1, NLRP3, biotinidase, and depression score., Conclusion: Increased GAGS, HMGB1, NLRP3, and biotinidase were associated with depression severity in AV patients and ISO treatment significantly reduced these parameters and reduced depressive symptoms., (© 2024 The Author(s). Objective: This study investigated the prevalence and correlates of fibromyalgia and insomnia in a sample of Women with Multiple Sclerosis (WMS)., Methods: The study was cross-sectional in design and recruited a sample of 163 women with Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS). Fibromyalgia was assessed using the Patient Self-Report Survey (PSRS), following criteria outlined by the American College of Rheumatology. Insomnia was measured using the Arabic version of the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI-A)., Results: The prevalence of fibromyalgia and insomnia was 28.2% (n = 46) and 46.3% (n = 76), respectively. Multivariate analyses were used to determine significant independent correlates. Fibromyalgia was associated with age above 40 years (OR = 2.29, 95% CI = 1.01-5.18, P = .04), high school education (OR = 3.69, 95% CI = 1.62-8.37, P = .002), and non-use of analgesics (OR = .02, 95% CI = .004-.21, P = .001). This study investigated parental attitudes toward childhood vaccination in Jordan, focusing on acceptance, concerns, and perceptions. A cross-sectional survey conducted from January to February 2024 included 939 parents. Findings indicated that 85.4% ( n  = 802) of respondents received the COVID-19 vaccine, while only 25% ( n  = 229) vaccinated their children. Concerns regarding vaccine safety and efficacy were prevalent, with 63.9% ( n  = 600) expressing worries about side effects and 46.9% ( n  = 440) trusting immunization programs. Post-pandemic, 34% ( n  = 319) reported a more negative attitude. Logistic regression showed parents not vaccinating their children against COVID-19 were significantly less likely to exhibit positive attitudes toward childhood vaccination (OR = 0.412, p  < 0.001). Older participants were more inclined toward negativity post-pandemic (OR = 1.031, p  = 0.007). In conclusion, parental attitudes shifted post-COVID-19, reflecting hesitancy and decreased trust. Addressing concerns and restoring confidence are crucial, especially for children's health. Education through healthcare providers and dispelling social media misinformation are essential. Implementing strategies to enhance post-pandemic vaccine acceptance is imperative for preventing outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases.

(1) Background : Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)-like symptoms and insomnia are closely related. The present study examined whether the use of different sleep aids was related to severe ADHD-like symptoms in Jordanian adults screened for insomnia. (2) Methods : This cross-sectional study used predefined inclusion criteria. The severity of ADHD was assessed using the validated Arabic version of the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale. (3) Results : Data were analyzed from 244 subjects who met the inclusion criteria for severe insomnia, of which 147 (65.3%) reported not using any sleep aid, 50 (22.3%) reported using homeopathy remedies as sleep aids, and 41 (18.3%) reported using over-the-counter antihistamines as sleep aids. Regression analysis revealed that the use of such sleep aids-namely, "homeopathy herbal remedies" and "over-the-counter antihistamines"-was not associated ( p > 0.05) with ADHD-like symptoms. However, "age above 31 years old" was significantly associated (B = -3.95, t = -2.32, p = 0.002) with lower ADHD severity, while the "diagnosis with chronic diseases" was significantly associated (B = 4.15, t = 1.99, p = 0.04) with higher ADHD severity. (4) Conclusions : Sleep aids are not associated with ADHD-like symptoms in adults. Diabetes mellitus has a high prevalence rate and it has been deemed a severe chronic metabolic disorder with long-term complications. This research aimed to identify compounds that could potentially inhibit the vital metabolic enzyme α-glucosidase and thereby exert an anti-hyperglycemic effect. The main goal was to establish an effective approach to control diabetes. To proceed with this study, a series of novel coumarin-derived thiosemicarbazones 3a-3m was synthesized and examined using a variety of spectroscopic methods. Moreover, all the compounds were subjected to α-glucosidase inhibition bioassay to evaluate their antidiabetic potential. Fortunately, all the compounds exhibited several folds potent α-glucosidase inhibitory activities with IC 50 values ranging from 2.33 to 22.11 µM, in comparison to the standard drug acarbose (IC 50  = 873.34 ± 1.67 µM). The kinetic studies of compound 3c displayed concentration-dependent inhibition. Furthermore, the binding modes of these molecules were elucidated through a molecular docking strategy which depicted that the thiosemicarbazide moiety of these molecules plays a significant role in the interaction with different residues of the α-glucosidase enzyme. However, their conformational difference is responsible for their varied inhibitory potential. The molecular dynamics simulations suggested that the top-ranked compounds (3c, 3g and 3i) have a substantial effect on the protein dynamics which alter the protein function and have stable attachment in the protein active pocket. Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most common metabolic disorders in the world and over the past three decades its incidence has increased drastically. α-Glucosidase inhibitors are used to control the hyperglycemic affect of T2DM. Herein, we report the synthesis, α-glucosidase inhibition, structure activity relationship, pharmacokinetics and docking analysis of various novel chromone based thiosemicarbazones 3(a-r). The derivatives displayed potent activity against α-glucosidase with IC 50 in range of 0.11 ± 0.01-79.37 ± 0.71 µM. Among all the synthesized compounds, 3a (IC 50  = 0.17 ± 0.026 µM), 3 g (IC 50  = 0.11 ± 0.01 µM), 3n (IC 50  = 0.55 ± 0.02 µM), and 3p (IC 50  = 0.43 ± 0.025 µM) displayed higher inhibitory activity as compared to the standard, acarbose. Background: Antihypertensives bisoprolol fumarate (BIS) and perindopril arginine (PER) were simultaneously determined in their pure, bulk, and combined tablet dosage form., Objective: This study develops a novel, reproducible, and accurate Reversed phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) and Reversed phase ultra-performance liquid chromatography (RP-UPLC) with photodiode array detection techniques, which were then applied to in vitro dissolution studies., Methods: The first RP-HPLC method relied on isocratic elution using a mobile phase of methanol-0.05 M phosphate buffer pH 2.6 (1 + 1, by volume), and separation was performed using a Thermo Hypersil C8 column (150 mm × 4.6 mm, 5 μm). Ion-pair UPLC was the second method. An acceptable resolution was achieved using an RP-C18 chromatographic column, Agilent Eclipse (100 × 2.1 mm, 1.7 μm), with a mobile phase containing 0.005 M sodium 1-heptane sulfonate-triethylamine (64 + 1 + 35, by volume), adjusted with phosphoric acid to a pH of 2.0. RP-HPLC used a 1.0 mL/min flow rate, while UPLC used 0.5 mL/min, and the two methods used detection at 210 nm., Results: Calibration curves of BIS and PER were linear for RP-HPLC and RP-UPLC methods at 0.5-15 and 0.5-40 μg/mL, respectively. BIS and PER had RP-UPLC LODs of 0.22 and 0.10 μg/mL, respectively, and LOQs of 0.68 and 0.31 μg/mL, respectively. As a result, the approach has been effectively applied to in vitro dissolution testing for drugs in generic and reference products, showing that the two products are comparable. The Six Sigma approach was implemented to compare the recommended and United States Pharmacopeia (USP) procedures, which both exhibited process capability index (Cpk) >1.33. A content uniformity test demonstrated that the drugs in their dosage form met the acceptance limit (85-115%). The degradation products were reliably distinguished from pure drugs for a range of retention times., Conclusion: In their commercial drug product, the proposed method could be used in QC laboratories for concurrent testing, content uniformity, and in vitro dissolution investigations of BIS and PER. Cancer is the major challenge across world and the adenocarcinoma of prostate malignancy is the second most prevalent male cancer. Various medicinal plants are used for the treatment and management of various cancers. Matricaria chamomilla L., is one of the extensively used Unani medicament for the treatment of various type of diseases. In the current study we evaluated most of the parameters prescribed for drug standardization using pharmacognostic approaches. The 2,2 Diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) method was utilized for the analysis of antioxidant activity in the flower extracts of M. chamomilla . Moreover, we analyzed the antioxidant and cytotoxic activity of M. chamomilla (Gul-e Babuna ) through in-vitro method. DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazl-hydrate) method was utilized for the analysis of antioxidant activity in the flower extracts of M. chamomilla . CFU and wound healing assay were performed to determine the anti-cancer activity. The results demonstrated that various extracts of M. chamomilla fulfilled most of the parameters of drug standardization and contained good antioxidant and anticancer activities. The ethyl acetate showed higher anticancer activity followed by aqueous, hydroalcoholic, petroleum benzene and methanol by CFU method. Also, the wound healing assay demonstrated that ethyl acetate extract has more significant effect followed by methanol and petroleum benzene extract on prostate cancer cell line (C4-2). Individuals with diabetes are twice as likely to struggle from depressive symptoms than individuals without diabetes. However, this joint condition is undertreated in nearly two-thirds of patients. Failure to monitor the comorbidity may lead to suboptimal therapy. This study evaluated the association of antidepressant use with healthcare utilization in a national sample of patients with type 2 diabetes and depression symptoms in the United States. It further assessed the differences in sociodemographic, clinical, and behavioral factors between those who use antidepressants and those who do not. This study was a secondary data analysis using the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) for the period 2005⁻2014. To assess if there were significant differences in sociodemographic, clinical, and behavioral factors between those who were taking antidepressants or not, Chi Square and independent t-tests were used. To assess if there was a significant association between antidepressant use and healthcare utilization, univariate and multivariate regression analyses were conducted. Of the 955 participants, only 33% were on antidepressants. There were significant differences in sociodemographic, clinical, and behavioral factors among those who used antidepressants and those who did not. Regardless of antidepressant use, the study population had access to health care. Those on antidepressants had fewer diabetes specialists' visits and more mental health care. There might be underlying health care disparities related to the use of, and access to, antidepressants. Further studies are needed to comprehensively explore the management of these comorbidities.
