Si riportano di seguito i risultati della campagna di rilievi geofisici effettuati presso Centuripe (EN). Le indagini sono state effettuate mediante metodologie non distruttive con apparecchiature in dotazione ai Laboratori di Geofisica Applicata ai Beni Archeologici e Monumentali del CNR-ISPC. In particolare è stato effettuato i) un rilievo georadar bidimensionale mediante GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) Impulsato Hi Mod (IDS), dotato di antenna dual-band da 200 e 600MHz; ii) un rilievo geoelettrico con strumentazione Syscal Kid della iris instruments con 24 canali attivi. Lo scopo è stato quello di verificare la presenza di una statua probabilmente sepolta nel sito oggetto di indagine. Le indagini in sito sono state effettuate in data 27/09/2021 lungo la linea della SP41 e su una stradina sterrata adiacente alla SP41 dal Dr. Giovanni Leucci (geofisico, Dirigente di Ricerca), dalla Dott.ssa Lara De Giorgi (geofisico), dal Dott. Francesco Giuri (archeologo), aal Dott. Giacomo Biondi (archeologo) e dal Dott. Ivan Ferrari (archeologo). Le attività di campagna sono state coordinate dal Dott. Giacomo Biondi e dal Dott. Giovanni Leucci ha coordinato le attività di campagna ed ha elaborato i dati geofisici con la collaborazione della Dott.ssa Lara De Giorgi.

We have many literary information and a rich archaeological evidence on Centuripe during the Roman Republic, but very few architectural remains. On the contrary, numerous public and private Roman concrete masonry monuments of the imperial period are preserved. These and the Catania, Syracuse and Taormina ones constitute the only evidence of Roman building techniques in eastern Sicily, but in Centuripe do not find correspondence either in an equally rich archaeological evidence of other kind or in significant information inferable from literary sources. In the last twenty years, however, excavations and specific studies have enriched our awareness of imperial age monuments of Centuripe. Furthermore, unpublished small digging investigations were conducted in various parts of the Roman city between the years 2010 and 2012. The results of these surveys and of other discoveries that occurred independently of the excavation activity are the subject of this contribution.

In the timespan between the end of the 3rd and the first half of the 2nd century B.C., a fortress overlapped the remains of the well-known settlement of the Patela hill, near Prinias. It was not isolated. A massive wall barred the pass between the Patela and the opposite hill. A barren and almost inaccessible rocky spur, around 3 km far from the fortress, had the function of monitoring and countering any threats coming from the south. Another defensive building in the opposite side of the valley had the same function. For the moment, the archaeological evidence is not enough to say exactly when the fortress and the related territorial defensive system were created and in relation to which historical moment: many events occurred in the long span of time between 220 and 150 B.C. However, the whole defensive system seems to have been designed to prevent a potential threat from the south, i.e. from Gortina. The inscriptions under discussion come mainly from the surface or from surface layers and can be dated in a period from the beginning of 3rd to the end of 2nd century B.C. The epigraphic material, albeit small and fragmentary, is quite representative of the epigraphic habits both in public and in private life and attests a wide range of activities in the area during the Hellenistic period.

Background: Measles is a highly contagious viral disease with serious complications. Currently, in Italy, measles vaccination is not mandatory for health care workers (HCWs) and medical students, and the free offer of the Measles Mumps Rubella (MMR) vaccine is the only national prevention measure to increase the coverage rate among these subjects. Aims: The aim of our study was to evaluate the impact on vaccination rate of the National Plan of Vaccine Prevention (NPVP) implemented in 2017. Material and Methods: This is a retrospective observational study that evaluated the measles-specific IgG immunity status of medical students at the University Tor Vergata of Rome, which underwent occupational health surveillance from 1 January to 31 December 2018. Results: In 2018, 84 of 319 students (26.30%) were serologically non-immune to measles, among these, 16 (19%) had previously been vaccinated, and 35 of the remaining 68 students accepted the MMR vaccine. Therefore, 33 out of 319 students did not undergo vaccination in 2018. These data are similar to those obtained in the previous year. In the 2017 screening, 84/314 (26.75%) students tested negative at the serological screening, whereas 15/85 (17.8%) among them documented a previous vaccination with two doses of the MMR vaccine, 69 students tested as unprotected. Vaccine compliance was 51.44%. Conclusions: No change in vaccination coverage occurred after the introduction of the last NPVP. Further efforts are needed to sensitize target populations about the relevance of vaccination, providing pre-employment screening for measles and free vaccine might be useful for this purpose.

The necropolis of Siderospilia of Prinias and those of the Knossos area are the greatest Early Iron Age necropoleis excavated in central Crete. A preliminary examination of the grave goods found in the first of these allowed us to identify the tombs used in Protogeometric times and to give a first "physiognomy" to the contemporary ceramic style, previously known, in this area, by sporadic findings only. The ceramics of Siderospilia continue, in parallel with the Knossian ones, the legacy of the TM IIIC and, at the same time, independently from the Knossos area, re-elaborate decorative motifs and suggestions coming from outside the island, especially from Cyprus. Among the imports, the showiest is a rare Attic Late Protogeometric krater (1000-900 BC), which is the only one so far found in in a necropolis of Crete (a small imported fragment was found in the urban area of Knossos) and the southernmost exported specimen in the Aegean Sea. The recipients of this and other valuable imported metal products must have been the members of wealthy local aristocracies. Finally, it seems that the anonymous site on the Patela hill, thanks also to its privileged position on the route connecting the northern and the southern coasts of the island, attracted goods and ideas from various parts of the Mediterranean basin, and that its role as mediator of external stimuli was not secondary.

Durante un sopralluogo nel Riparo Cassataro - preliminare ad una campagna di indagini non invasive a fluorescenza X, volte a meglio documentare le già note figure rupestri neolitiche - sono state scoperte due nuove figure in ocra rossa. In attesa che siano concluse le indagini, piuttosto difficili dal punto di vista logistico, do notizia di una tale scoperta, di quella di nuove incisioni rupestri in località Pietraperciata e di figurine antropomorfe da Monte Guazzarano. Il Riparo Cassataro si trova sul Simeto, gli altri due lungo la valle del Dittaino, in Sicilia centro-orientale.
