Astrophysics - Solar and Stellar Astrophysics ,Astrophysics - High Energy Astrophysical Phenomena - Abstract
In this work, optical observations of the nova V5584 Sgr are presented. These observations cover different phases including pre-maximum, early decline, and nebular. The spectra are dominated by hydrogen Balmer, Fe II, and O I lines with P-Cygni profiles in the early phase, which are subsequently observed in complete emission. The presence of numerous Fe II lines and low ejecta velocity aligns with the Fe II type nova classification. From optical and NIR colors it is clear that this nova manifests dust formation in the ejecta. The dust temperature and mass were estimated from a spectral energy distribution (SED) fit to the JHK band magnitudes and the WISE data. Light curve analysis shows t$_2$ and t$_3$ values of $\sim$ 26 and $\sim$ 48 days, classifying the nova as moderately fast. The physical and chemical properties during early decline and later phases were evaluated using the photoionization code CLOUDY. The best-fit model parameters from two epochs of multiwavelength spectra are compatible with a hot white dwarf source with a roughly constant luminosity of $\sim$ (2.08 $\pm$ 0.10) $\times$ 10$^{36}$ erg s$^{-1}$. We find an ejected mass of $\sim$ (1.59 $\pm$ 0.04) $\times$ 10$^{-4}$M$_{\odot}$. Abundance analysis indicates that the ejecta is significantly enriched relative to solar values, with O/H = 30.2, C/H = 10.8, He/H = 1.8, Mg/H = 1.68, Na/H = 1.55, and N/H = 45.5 in the early decline phase, and O/H = 4.5, Ne/H = 1.5, and N/H = 24.5 in the nebular phase., Comment: 13 pages, 10 figures, 5 tables, Accepted for publication in MNRAS. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2408.01924

Nuclear Experiment ,Nuclear Theory - Abstract
We report new experimental data for excited states of $^{72,74}$Se obtained from proton removal from $^{73,75}$Br secondary beams on a proton target. The experiments were performed with the Ursinus-NSCL Liquid Hydrogen Target and the combined GRETINA+S800 setup at the Coupled Cyclotron Facility of the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory at Michigan State University. Within uncertainties, the inclusive cross sections for proton removal from $^{73,75}$Br on a proton target are identical suggesting that the same single-particle orbitals contribute to the proton-removal reaction. In addition, details of the partial cross section fragmentation are discussed. The data might suggest that $l = 1, 2, 3$, and 4 angular momentum transfers are important to understand the population of excited states of $^{72,74}$Se in proton removal. Available data for excited states of $^{74}$Ge populated through the $^{75}$As$(d,{}^{3}{\mathrm{He}}){}^{74}$Ge proton-removal reaction in normal kinematics suggest indeed that the $fp$ and $sd$ shell as well as the $1g_{9/2}$ orbital contribute. A comparison to data available for odd-$A$ nuclei supports that the bulk of the spectroscopic strengths could be found at lower energies in the even-even Se isotopes than in, for instance, the even-even Ge isotopes. In addition, the population of high-$J$ states seems to indicate that multi-step processes contribute to proton-removal reactions at intermediate energies in these collective nuclei., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures

Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) is one of the most commonly used detectors in high energy physics experiments for triggering and tracking because of its good efficiency ($\textgreater$~90\%) and time resolution ($\sim$~1-2~ns). Generally, bakelite which is one of the most commonly used materials as electrode plates in RPC, sometimes suffer from surface roughness issues. If the surface is not smooth, the probability of micro discharge and spurious pulses increase, which leads to the deterioration in the performance of the detector. We have developed a new method of linseed oil coating for the bakelite based detectors to avoid the surface roughness issue. The detector is characterised with Tetrafluoroethane (R134a) based gas mixture. The detector is also tested with a high rate of gamma radiation environment in the laboratory for the radiation hardness test. The detailed measurement procedure and test results are presented in this article., Comment: 14 pages, 13 figures

Quantum machine learning (QML) investigates how quantum phenomena can be exploited in order to learn data in an alternative way, \textit{e.g.} by means of a quantum computer. While recent results evidence that QML models can potentially surpass their classical counterparts' performance in specific tasks, quantum technology hardware is still unready to reach quantum advantage in tasks of significant relevance to the broad scope of the computer science community. Recent advances indicate that hybrid classical-quantum models can readily attain competitive performances at low architecture complexities. Such investigations are often carried out for image-processing tasks, and are notably constrained to modelling \textit{raster images}, represented as a grid of two-dimensional pixels. Here, we introduce vector-based representation of sketch drawings as a test-bed for QML models. Such a lower-dimensional data structure results handful to benchmark model's performance, particularly in current transition times, where classical simulations of quantum circuits are naturally limited in the number of qubits, and quantum hardware is not readily available to perform large-scale experiments. We report some encouraging results for primitive hybrid classical-quantum architectures, in a canonical sketch recognition problem.

Astrophysics - Instrumentation and Methods for Astrophysics - Abstract
The main science aim of the BlackGEM array is to detect optical counterparts to gravitational wave mergers. Additionally, the array will perform a set of synoptic surveys to detect Local Universe transients and short time-scale variability in stars and binaries, as well as a six-filter all-sky survey down to ~22nd mag. The BlackGEM Phase-I array consists of three optical wide-field unit telescopes. Each unit uses an f/5.5 modified Dall-Kirkham (Harmer-Wynne) design with a triplet corrector lens, and a 65cm primary mirror, coupled with a 110Mpix CCD detector, that provides an instantaneous field-of-view of 2.7~square degrees, sampled at 0.564\arcsec/pixel. The total field-of-view for the array is 8.2 square degrees. Each telescope is equipped with a six-slot filter wheel containing an optimised Sloan set (BG-u, BG-g, BG-r, BG-i, BG-z) and a wider-band 440-720 nm (BG-q) filter. Each unit telescope is independent from the others. Cloud-based data processing is done in real time, and includes a transient-detection routine as well as a full-source optimal-photometry module. BlackGEM has been installed at the ESO La Silla observatory as of October 2019. After a prolonged COVID-19 hiatus, science operations started on April 1, 2023 and will run for five years. Aside from its core scientific program, BlackGEM will give rise to a multitude of additional science cases in multi-colour time-domain astronomy, to the benefit of a variety of topics in astrophysics, such as infant supernovae, luminous red novae, asteroseismology of post-main-sequence objects, (ultracompact) binary stars, and the relation between gravitational wave counterparts and other classes of transients, Comment: Published in PASP

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
Motivated by the recent experimental results of branching fractions for D_((s))^+ arrows {\eta}^((')) l^+ {\nu}_l decays, which deviate from their SM predictions, we have investigated these decays in W' model and scalar leptoquark model to find possible signatures of new physics (NP) in semileptonic charm decays induced by c arrow(s,d)l {nu}_l transitions. Using recent experimental results of branching fractions for semileptonic D meson decays, new coupling parameters are predicted for the above NP models. Branching fraction, forward-backward asymmetry and lepton polarization asymmetry are studied taking the predicted NP coupling parameters. Results of branching fractions in scalar leptoquark model are found very close to the experimental results and exist around the range 1{sigma} deviation. We have presented a comparative study of the NP models to check their sensitivity on these decays. We anticipate that further research on these decays will significantly support our findings., Comment: 23 pages, It is accepted and is to be published in Chinese Physics C

Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) is one of the mostly used gaseous detectors in the High Energy Physics (HEP) experiments. GEMs are widely used as tracking devices due to their high-rate handling capability and good position resolution. An initiative is taken to study the stability in performance of the GEM chamber prototypes in the laboratory using external radiation for different Argon based gas mixtures. The effect of ambient parameters on the gain and energy resolution are studied. Very recently some behavioural changes in the performance of a SM GEM chamber is observed. The details of the experimental setup, methodology and results are reported here., Comment: 13 pages, 10 figures

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
In-beam $ \gamma $-ray spectroscopy of $^{131}$Xe has been carried out to study the structure of the intruder $ \nu h_{11/2} $ band. Excited states were populated via an $ \alpha $-induced fusion-evaporation reaction at E$ _{\alpha} = 38 $ MeV. Inspection of $ \gamma \gamma $-coincidence data resulted in the identification of a new rotational sequence. Based on the systematics of excitation energy, assigned spin-parity, decay pattern, and the electromagnetic character of the inter-band $ \Delta I = 1 $ $ \gamma $-transitions, this sequence is proposed as the unfavoured signature partner of the $ \nu h_{11/2} $ band. The structure of this band is further illuminated in the light of the triaxial particle rotor model (TPRM). The possibility of wobbling excitation in $ N = 77 $ Xe-Ba-Ce isotones has been explored in a systematic manner.

Tardigrades are microscopic animals that survive desiccation by inducing biostasis. To survive drying tardigrades rely on intrinsically disordered CAHS proteins, which also function to prevent perturbations induced by drying in vitro and in heterologous systems. CAHS proteins have been shown to form gels both in vitro and in vivo, which has been speculated to be linked to their protective capacity. However, the sequence features and mechanisms underlying gel formation and the necessity of gelation for protection have not been demonstrated. Here we report a mechanism of fibrillization and gelation for CAHS D similar to that of intermediate filament assembly. We show that in vitro, gelation restricts molecular motion, immobilizing and protecting labile material from the harmful effects of drying. In vivo, we observe that CAHS D forms fibrillar networks during osmotic stress. Fibrillar networking of CAHS D improves survival of osmotically shocked cells. We observe two emergent properties associated with fibrillization; (i) prevention of cell volume change and (ii) reduction of metabolic activity during osmotic shock. We find that there is no significant correlation between maintenance of cell volume and survival, while there is a significant correlation between reduced metabolism and survival. Importantly, CAHS Ds fibrillar network formation is reversible and metabolic rates return to control levels after CAHS fibers are resolved. This work provides insights into how tardigrades induce reversible biostasis through the self-assembly of labile CAHS gels.

In our previous study, we identified Alpha-Taxilin (α-Taxilin) as one of the upregulated proteins in RA and validated it in different biological samples such as tissue, synovial fluid, and blood cells. Here we further investigated its mechanistic role in RA pathophysiology. Methods: The α-Taxilin was validated in a larger cohort (n = 106) of RA plasma by Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Interacting proteins were identified by co-immunoprecipitation followed by mass spectrometry, and in silico analyses were done to identify protein-protein interactions and involved pathways. The in vitro knockdown studies were performed on SW982 cells and Rheumatoid Arthritis Fibroblast-like Synoviocyte (RAFLS) to investigate the molecular mechanism of α-Taxilin involved in RA via Western Blot, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), and confocal microscopy, which was further validated by in vivo studies via collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) rat model. Results: The plasma level of α-Taxilin was found to be significantly increased in plasma samples from patients with RA compared to osteoarthritis (OA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and healthy controls (HC). The α-Taxilin was found to be positively correlated with anti-citrullinated peptide antibody (ACPA) levels and DAS score in patients with RA. Seventeen interacting proteins were identified with α-Taxilin, and in silico study suggested that glycolysis and gluconeogenesis pathways are the most affected pathways regulated by α-Taxilin. The in vitro knockdown studies of α-Taxilin resulted in decreased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, p65, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and toll-like receptors (TLRs). It also improved macroscopic arthritic score, paw edema, and inflammation in CIA rats. Conclusion: α-Taxilin has been found to be associated with glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. This may lead to a metabolic shift in synovial cells, ROS generation, and TLR activation. Therefore, α-Taxilin can be targeted for its diagnostic and therapeutic potential in RA along with other parameters. Keywords: toll-like receptor, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation, metabolic shift, glycolysis, pyruvate metabolism

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
In recent years, lepton flavour violating (LFV) decays are one of the most trending topics to probe new physics (NP). The latest results of LHCb have motivated us to study the LFV decays through b to s transition. The branching ratios, forward backward asymmetries and longitudinal polarization fractions of B(B_s) to K^* ({phi})l_1 l_2 decays are studied in non-universal Z^' model. Here, we have structured the four-fold angular distribution of the decays in terms of transversity amplitudes. The variation of the observables in whole kinematic region shows the sensitivity of NP. The observables estimated in this work are very intriguing and might lead a new track towards NP in near future., Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2301.01637

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
Motivated by the recent LHCb results of lepton flavour violation on b decays into s and b decays into c transitions we study the lepton flavour violating (LFV) baryonic decays {Lambda}_b decays into {Lambda}l_i^+ l_j^- in non-universal Z^' model. We discuss the two-fold decay distribution of {Lambda}_b decays into {Lambda}l_i^+ l_j^- decays in terms of transversity amplitudes. From this distribution we study the differential branching ratio and lepton side forward-backward asymmetry in new physics (NP). The predicted values of the observables are very interesting and that might emboss the footprints of NP more aesthetically.

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
Inspired by various updated tantalizing results of LHCb on baryonic sector we study the {\Lambda}_b decays into {\Lambda}^* (1520)l^+ l^- decay in non-universal Z^' model. We present the four-fold angular distributions of the decay in terms of transversity amplitudes. We structure the observables: differential branching ratio, lepton side forward backward asymmetries and polarization fractions in terms of the transversity amplitudes and incorporate the new physics (NP) terms in it. We reduce the number of the form factors using the improved Isgur-Wise relations. We study the observables in the standard model (SM) as well as in non-universal Z^' model. The predicted values are very interesting for the high energy physics community and results might provide prominent footprints of NP.

Physics - Instrumentation and Detectors ,Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
We have developed a photon detection system for muonic X-ray spectroscopy. The detector system consists of high-purity germanium detectors with BGO Compton suppressors. The signals from the detectors are readout with a digital acquisition system. The absolute energy accuracy, energy and timing resolutions, photo-peak efficiency, the performance of the Compton suppressor, and high count rate durability are studied with standard $\gamma$-ray sources and in-beam experiment using $^{27}\mathrm{Al}(p, \gamma){}^{28}\mathrm{Si}$ resonance reaction. The detection system was demonstrated at Paul Scherrer Institute. A calibration method for a photon detector at a muon facility using muonic X-rays of $^{197}$Au and $^{209}$Bi is proposed.
