2. The Clinical Quality Language as a tool to support data analysis in German clinical cancer registries

Abstract

In this paper we evaluate the suitability of the Clinical Query Language (CQL) for supporting various data analysis tasks in German cancer registries. CQL is a domain-specific query language for clinical data. It is particularly used in the United States, for example to define cohorts and to calculate electronic Clinical Quality Measures. We developed a prototype to execute CQL queries on clinical cancer registry data. For this purpose, we created a unified CQL data model for the analysis of clinical cancer registry data. This model is based on the datasets of the cancer registry of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Agency for Clinical Cancer Data of Lower Saxony, as well as the Oncological Basis Dataset. For the evaluation, we applied CQL to typical questions from the areas of guideline-based quality indicators, data requests from external researchers, plausibility checks, and routine reporting, and compared the results with well-established evaluation methods. We were able to show that CQL is capable of representing the complex criteria and temporal relationships that are often relevant for the analysis of data from clinical cancer registries. We see CQL as a promising method to support cancer registries in the definition of patient cohorts for various internal and external analyses and believe that the use of CQL in combination with a standardized data model can make a significant contribution to the standardization of analyses in cancer registries., In dieser Arbeit evaluieren wir die Eignung der Clinical Query Language (CQL) zur Unterstützung verschiedener Datenanalyseaufgaben aus der deutschen Krebsregistrierung. CQL ist eine domänenspezifische Anfragesprache für klinische Daten. Sie wird insbesondere in den USA eingesetzt, zum Beispiel zur Definition von Kohorten und zur Berechnung von electronic Clinical Quality Measures. Wir haben einen Prototyp entwickelt, mit dem CQL-Abfragen auf klinischen Krebsregisterdaten ausgeführt werden können. Hierzu haben wir auf Grundlage der Datensätze des Landeskrebsregisters NRW und der klinischen Landesauswertungsstelle Niedersachsen (KLast) sowie des einheitlichen onkologischen Basisdatensatzes ein vereinheitlichtes CQL-Datenmodell für die Auswertung von klinischen Krebsregisterdaten erstellt. Zur Evaluation haben wir typische Fragestellungen aus den Bereichen Leitlinien-basierte Qualitätsindikatoren, externe Datennutzung, Plausibilitätsprüfungen und Routineberichterstattung mit CQL umgesetzt und die Ergebnisse mit etablierten Auswertungsmethoden verglichen. Wir konnten zeigen, dass CQL in der Lage ist, die komplexen Kriterien und zeitlichen Beziehungen abzubilden, die bei der Analyse von klinischen Krebsregisterdaten häufig relevant sind. Wir sehen CQL als eine vielversprechende Methode zur Unterstützung der Krebsregister bei der Definition von Kohorten für verschiedene interne und externe Analysen und sind der Ansicht, dass die Verwendung von CQL in Verbindung mit einem standardisierten Datenmodell einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur Standardisierung von Analysen in der Krebsregistrierung leisten kann.

Abstract

24 pp. (1991)., We have measured the cross section and $Q^2$-dependence of the reaction γγ→ multihadrons, using the CELLO detector at DESY, for visible final-state masses between 4 and 9 GeV. The data are well fitted by an incoherent sum of Generalised Vector Meson Dominance and Quark Parton Model terms, but at lowQ2 require the addition of a third component which resembles the QPM but is less two-jet-like. With and without this term, the GVDM cross section atQ2=0 is found to be 200±20 and 250±25 nb, respectively.

Abstract

Using the CELLO detector, we have measured cross sections for the processγγ→π+π− in the mass range 0.75–1.9 GeV/c2. A partial wave fit to the data indicates the presence of a sizeableS-wave amplitude with signs of resonant behaviour. Values for the γγ width of thef2(1270) are given, showing the model-dependence of this quantity. At higher dipion masses, the model of Brodsky and Lepage is found to give an order of magnitude description of the data.

Abstract

We have measured the inclusive production of γ, π0 and η ine+e− annihilation at the center of mass energy of 35 GeV. The differential cross sections, extended to the kinematical limit and measured with high accuracy, are found to be in good agreement with previously reported results. Using the measured spectra we determine the average multiplicity for each of these particle species.

Abstract

We present an analysis of strange particle production frome+e- annihilation into multihadronic final states. The experiment was performed with the CELLO detector at the PETRA storage ring at DESY, the data was taken at a centre of mass energy of 35 GeV with an integrated luminosity of 86 pb-1. The particlesKS0,K*± and ? have been identified by their characteristic decays, and differential cross sections for their production have been obtained. From a comparison ofKS0 andK*± rates the Lund vector meson suppression parameterV/(V+P)S has been determined.

Abstract

The reactione+e−→e+e−π+π−π0 in the untagged mode has been measured with the CELLO detector at PETRA. The cross section is dominated by exclusivea2(1320) production, whose radiative width is determined to beΓγγ=1.00±0.07(stat.)±0.15(syst.)keV. An angular correlation analysis indicates pure helicity 2 with an upper limit on the helicity 0 contribution of 8.2% (at 95% c.l.). Excitation of the pseudotensor meson π20(1670) is observed for the first time in this reaction. The π2 radiative width and its dependence on interference effects are studied.

Abstract

We have searched for resonance production in the reaction ???Ks0Kp. No signal was found for the?c and an upper limit for the radiative with " keV (95% c.l.) is obtained. For the glueball candidate ?(1440) (previouslyi) the upper limit " is derived. In the tagged data sample resonance formation of a spin 1 state at 1420 MeV is observed, which is absent in the untagged data. The mass and width of this state are consistent with those of thef1(1420); an analysis of decay angular distributions favours positive parity.

Abstract

We present measurement of the p0?*?, ??*? and ?'?*? form factors. The p0-form factor is for the first time observed in the space-like region. The transition form factor of the ?-meson is determined from its decay modes p+p-p0, p+p-? and the neutral decay mode ??. The decay of the ?' is observed in the decay channels ??, ?p+p- with ???? and in the four charged prong final state stemming from ?p+p- with the ? decaying into p+p-(p0/?). All form factors agree well with a simple ?-pole predicted by the vector meson dominance model and also with the QCD inspired Brodsky-Lepage model.
