A mathematical model of the railway freight transportation process carried out within the framework of multimodal transport and technological systems has been built. The model construction is based on the infrastructural indicators of the railway loop considered part, and its general methodological basis is formed by the egalitarian and utilitarian principles in the welfare theory. These principles are implemented in relation to interacting participants in the transportation process (called agents). The approach is multi-agent in the sense that the research takes into account the various agent interests. In its form, the model, on the one hand, is a transport-type problem. On the other hand, it is a multicriteria nonlinear integer programming problem with time objective functions set and a cost objective function (transportation process indicators). The leading role belongs to a mathematical experiment, which makes it possible to reveal trends in behavior and interconnections in the distributions of the transportation process indicators values. As an example of the optimization method application, a part of the North-Caucasus Railways adjacent to the cargo ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin is considered. The cargo is oil products, traditionally and in large quantities exported from Russia by rail in combination with sea transport. The approach to finding Pareto optimal solutions to multicriteria transport-type problems can be applied to other cargoes, as well as to transportation carried out by road transport.
