Liver transplant is today the method of choice in treating final stages of diseases which lead to liver failure. The first liver transplant in children in Croatia was performed in September 2001. Since then sixteen transplants have been performed. There were ten boys and six girls aged from 10 months to 16 years. The most common indication for transplant was bile duct atresia. One year survival is over 80% and follow-up period from four months to nine years., {"references":["Starzl TM, Marchioro TL, Von Kaulia KN, et al. Homotransplantation of the liver in humans.
