Srednjovjekovna je Engleska kroz svoju dugu i bremenitu povijest iznjedrila mnoge vladarske kuće, od kojih se najznačajnije isprofilirala dinastija Plantageneta. Tijekom svoje vlasti obilježila je kulturnu, političku i vojnu povijest Engleske razvijenog i kasnog srednjeg vijeka. U ovome radu razmatran je jedan izdanak te loze, kralj Edvard I. Dugonogi. Kroz brojna poglavlja nastojala se donijeti određena slika vladara. Upoznali smo Edvarda kao prijestolonasljednika tijekom pobune baruna. Razmatrao se njegov učinak u Walesu, gdje se iznova uputio u sedamdesetim i osamdesetim godinama XIII. stoljeća. Nadalje, pisali smo i o Škotskoj, koja je engleskom kralju pružala žestok otpor i koja će izboriti vlastitu neovisnost tek u vrijeme Edvardova nasljednika. S druge strane La Manchea Edvard se borio protiv francuskog kralja Filipa IV. Lijepog. Bila je to jedna pretenciozna vojna kampanja, koja neće polučiti željeni rezultat. Naime, radi stabilnosti vlastita Kraljevstva Edvard će morati odabrati diplomatski prihvatljiviju opciju. Tijekom svoje vladavine Dugonogi je nastojao opovrgnuti i utjecaj pape Bonifacija VIII. na crkvene velikodostojnike u vlastitu kraljevstvu. Za razliku od svoga oca, Edvard se otvoreno razračunavao s Crkvom čija je snaga tada bila u postupnom, ali sigurnom padu. Uz određene vojne i političke uspjehe engleskoga kralja imali smo priliku vidjeti i ne tako sjajne epizode u kojima je ispražnjena blagajna dovela Kraljevstvo u opasno stanje, a Edvarda u stalnu ovisnost o financijerima. Takvo stanje izrodit će i Edikt iz 1290., kojim su židovi biti istjerani iz Engleske. Osim vojno-političkog segmenta, razmatran je i onaj nešto humanijega karaktera, u kojem se propitivao odnos Edvarda I. i supruge mu Eleonore. Ovim diplomskim radom se pomoću istraživačkih pitanja formuliranih u samome uvodu nastojao rekonstruirati tek jedan fragment engleske povijesti. Na brojna pitanja smo uspjeli pronaći suvisao odgovor, ali mnoga su i dalje ostala otvorena ostajući kao poticaj za neka buduća istraživanja. Throughout its long and turbulent history, medieval England was home to many influential ruling houses, and the most famous among them were the Plantagenets. This dynasty shaped the cultural, political and military history of the English High and Late Middle Ages. In this paper, one descendant of this dynasty was considered, a ruler named Edward Longshanks. Numerous chapters attempted to paint an accurate picture of the ruler. During the Barons' War, we became acquainted with Edward as heir to the throne. We discussed his influence in Wales, where he again took over in the 1270s and 1280s. We also read about Scotland, which bitterly resisted the English king and would not gain independence until the time of Edward's successor. On the other side of La Manche, Edward fought against the French King Philip the Fair. That was a pretentious campaign that did not produce the expected result. To ensure the stability of the kingdom's power, Edward had to choose a more acceptable diplomatic option. During his reign, Longshanks attempted to refute Pope Boniface VIII's influence on ecclesiastical dignitaries. Unlike his father, Edward openly reckoned with the head of the Church, whose power was slowly but surely waning. In addition to some political and military successes of the English king, there were also less pleasant episodes in which the empty treasury put the kingdom in a dangerous position and Edward in perpetual dependence on his financial backers. Such circumstances led to the enactment of the Edict of Expulsion, which aimed to drive the Jewish population out of England. Besides the military and political part, we have also questioned the relationship between Edward and his wife, Eleanor of Castile. Through the research questions formulated in the introduction, we have succeeded in reconstructing only a fragment of English history. We have found a comprehensive answer to many questions, but some remained open, encouraging us to conduct further research.

Studiato intensamente dalla canonistica medievale, l’interdetto, nella sua qualità di censura distinta dalla scomunica, che priva i fedeli della possibilità di accedere ai sacramenti e alla celebrazione degli uffici divini, conserva le sue funzioni anche nell’età moderna, continuando di conseguenza ad attirare canonisti e teologi. Il testo del giurista di Toledo, ricavato dalle sue relectiones universitarie, rappresenta un’ulteriore testimonianza del circuito tra dottrina giuridica e prassi nella soluzione dei numerosi problemi applicativi dell’interdetto. Intensely studied by medieval canon lawyers, the interdict, in its quality of censorship distinct from excommunication, which deprives the faithful of the possibility of accessing the sacraments and the celebration of divine offices, retains its functions even in the modern age, consequently continuing to attract canonists and theologians. Among the works published in the sixteenth century, precisely because of its paradigmatic function in the reworking of medieval legal doctrines at the hairpin of the early modern age, the commentary by Diego de Covarrubias (1512-1577) on the constitution Alma Mater of Boniface VIII, printed in 1554 a Salamanca, for the types of Andrea de Portonariis. The text of the Toledo jurist, taken from his university relectiones, represents further evidence of the circuit between legal doctrine and practice in the solution of the numerous application problems of the interdict.

Para isso, utilizaremos de fontes diretas da diplomacia papal, as bulas e as produções intelectuais de pensadores políticos que se formulam no decorrer da querela entre Bonifácio VIII e Filipe IV de França (1296-1303). Percebemos que, nessas fontes, o desenvolvimento e enriquecimento das ideias políticas, ou mesmo a idealização de modelos de governo, é resultado de um aparato histórico e legal, seja no Direito Canônico ou no Direito Romano. Tais produções intelectuais estão situadas e interligadas à lei, pois partem de uma concepção teleológica da sociedade. Desse modo, tencionamos neste trabalho analisar o fortalecimento da Monarquia francesa como representante do poder temporal, utilizando a obra de João Quidort, “De regia potestate et papali”, que nos apresenta a distinção dos poderes e suas funções, contrapondo a obra “ecclesiastica De potestate”, de Egídio Romano, a qual representa o auge da plenitude do poder papal e a obra “De Monarchia”, de Dante Alighieri, que expõe um modelo de governo singular, embora tenda a defender a hegemonia temporal. We propose, in this work, to analyze the political treatises that discuss theories about the hegemony of powers within the medieval West. For this purpose, we will use direct sources of papal diplomacy, the bulls and the intellectual productions of political thinkers formulated during the quarrel between Boniface VIII and Philip IV of France (1296-1303). We realize that, in these sources, the development and enrichment of political ideas, or even the idealization of models of government, is the result of a historical and legal apparatus, whether in Canon Law or Roman Law. Such intellectual productions are situated and interconnected with the law, since they depart from a teleological conception of society. In this way, we intend in this work to analyze the strengthening of the French Monarchy as representative of temporal power, using the work of John Quidort, "De regia potestate et papali", which presents us with the distinction of powers and their functions, contrasting the work "Ecclesiastic De potestate "by Egidio Romano, which represents the pinnacle of the fullness of papal power and Dante Alighieri's work" De Monarchia ", which exposes a singular model of government, although it tends to defend temporal hegemony

[eng] In 1294, during his stay in Italy, Ramon Llull addressed a letter (whose date, according to scholars, is November 1294) to Pope Celestine V. The original Catalan version of this letter is preserved by a single manuscript, whilst all the witnesses of the Latin translation known until now - two of which are certainly linked to the authorial environment – are, instead, addressed to Celestine’s successor, Boniface VIII. The short duration of the pontificate of Celestine V justifies this change of addressee. The recent finding, in a fifteenth-century manuscript owned by Giovanni da Capestrano, of a copy of the Latin translation addressed to Celestine V reopens the question. Philological analysis confirms the goodness of the transmitted text, which is contemporary to the most ancient witness of the version addressed to Boniface; this discovery proves both the existence of a Latin translation addressed to Celestine V, and the need to consider afresh Llull’s travels and the chronology of his works between 1294 and 1295., [ita] Nel 1294, nel suo soggiorno in Italia, Raimondo Lullo indirizza a papa Celestino V una lettera (dagli studiosi collocata nel novembre del 1294), della quale rimane la versione originale catalana, testimoniata da un unico manoscritto; i testimoni della traduzione latina che ci rimangono –due dei quali legati sicuramente ad ambiente autoriale– sono tutti invece indirizzati al successore Bonifacio VIII. La breve durata del pontificato di Celestino V giustifica in effetti questo cambio di indirizzo. Il recente rinvenimento in un manoscritto quattrocentesco posseduto da Giovanni da Capestrano di una copia della traduzione latina indirizzata a Celestino V riapre la questione. L’analisi filologica conferma la bontà del testo trasmesso, che si colloca all’altezza del testimone più antico della redazione bonifaciana, provando sia l’esistenza di una traduzione a Celestino V sia la necessità di ripensare i movimenti di Lullo e la cronologia delle opere tra 1294 e 1295.

Na história das relações entre os poderes espiritual e temporal, ao término do século XIII, o anônimo Debate entre um clérigo e um soldado do rei foi uma das respostas à bula Clericis laicos (1296), na qual Bonifácio VIII proibia que a clerezia pagasse qualquer imposto ou concedesse auxílio financeiro aos potentados seculares, sem autorização da Santa Sé, em meio a uma guerra entre a Francia e a Inglaterra, escrito na corte de Felipe IV e, com os objetivos de rechaçar as pretensões do clero e divulgar o pensamento político dos juristas e da realeza. Sob a forma de um diálogo, o Debate foge tipologicamente do padrão comum de outros textos políticos da época. In the history of the relationship between spiritual and secular powers, at the end of the thirteenth century, the anonymous Disputatio inter clericum et militem was one of the replies to the papal bull Clericis laicos (1296), written at the court of Philip IV in the midst of a war between Francia and England, in which Boniface VIII forbade the clergy to pay any tax, or grant financial aid to secular powers, without the Holy See's authorization, with the purpose of rejecting the pretensions of the clergy and spreading the political thinking of jurists and royals. Written in the form of a dialogue, the Disputatio is different from the typologically common pattern of other political texts of this time. Among its main ideas, anchored in Aristotle's Politics and Roman Law, as explained by the soldier, a spokesman for the monarchist party, we highlight the following: a) The clergy is not allowed to legislate in matters related to the secular sphere, because they are beyond its competences; b) the common interests of all French, specifically the defense of the kingdom, is above the particular interests of any social ordo; c) the clergy has the moral duty to financially assist in the defense of the kingdom; d) within the borders of the kingdom/territory, the royal power is above any other power and all men and women are its subjects. It is the royal power that holds and exercises the judicative, legislative and administrative powers. This Bachelor's thesis focuses on the process of canonization of the Louis IX of France. Although king Louis earned the reputation of saint during his lifetime and canonization process began soon after his death, the case proceeded slowly unexpectedly. A major impact in this process played high politics. The turning point came when Pope Boniface VIII. needed achieve a peace with Louis's grandson, the king Philip IV of France. The process was then closed in 1297 by canonization of Louis, but a final reconciliation has not contributed. The aim of the study is to analyze the canonical process of Louis IX and political influences which influenced him, thus the period 1270-1297. The thesis is based on the canonization documents and relies on relevant sources and literature. Based on previously unexamined documentation at Lisbon, Braga and the Vatican, this paper considers two separate but related matters for the history of Portugal: the role of Cardinal Giacomo Colonna in the foundation of the Lisbon Studium Generale, and the use of Portuguese gold at the court of Pope Boniface VIII to purchase the dispensation for the marriage of Fernando IV of Castile to Constança of Portugal. It also demonstrates the bankrupt state of the Castilian crown after ten years of Fernando IV’s rule. A partir de documentación hasta ahora no estudiada, conservada en Lisboa, Braga y el Vaticano, en este artículo se analizan dos asuntos diferentes aunque relacionados, referentes a la historia de Portugal: el papel desempeñado por el Cardenal Giacomo Colonna en la fundación del Studium Generale de Lisboa y el uso del oro portugués en la corte del papa Bonifacio VIII para obtener la dispensa para que pudiese efectuarse el matrimonio entre Fernando IV de Castilla con Constanza de Portugal, hija del rey D. Dinis. Esto demuestra también el estado de bancarrota de la corona castellana después de diez años de gobierno de Fernando IV.

Monaldo dei Monaldeschi, franciscain, issu d'une des plus puissantes familles guelfes d'Orvieto, fut nommé par Boniface VIII évêque de Sovana (en Toscane méridionale) en 1298 puis archevêque de Bénévent en 1303. Quelques mois après son arrivée dans la cité samnite, des chanoines de la cathédrale se présentèrent à la Curie pontificale pour l'accuser d'assassinat et de simonie. Il s'ensuivit une procédure criminelle extraordinairement longue. D'enquêtes "in partibus" en audiences cardinalices et avec de longs temps morts, l'affaire se poursuivit sous quatre pontificats et pendant plus de vingt-huit ans, jusqu'à la mort de l'archevêque. Entre 1309 et 1311, Monaldo devint chapelain et conseiller du roi de Naples Robert d'Anjou. L'attitude de l'archevêque dans la grande insurrection des Bénéventains contre le recteur pontifical en 1316 pourrait avoir incité Jean XXII à relancer le procès criminel, qui était alors oublié depuis une dizaine d'années. Le meneur de la révolte, le noble Simone Mascambruno, était soutenu par le roi Robert. Le pape pourrait avoir utilisé la vieille affaire comme un moyen de pression ou de rétorsion contre la politique de l'Angevin lors des événements de Bénévent. A partir de 1318-1320, Monaldo fut contraint de demeurer auprès de la Curie en Avignon. En 1322, il dut participer à la consultation sur la pauvreté apostolique organisée par Jean XXII. Dans sa brève contribution, l'archevêque se prononça en faveur de la licéité de la thèse des franciscains spirituels selon laquelle le Christ et les apôtres n'avaient possédé aucun bien.

Une synthèse sur l'histoire de la papauté en son temps d'apogée, celui des ambitions théocratiques. Les bornes chronologiques sont fixées avec le IIIe concile du Latran, qui marque le franchissement d'une nouvelle étape dans l'instauration d'un gouvernement pontifical sur toute l'Eglise latine, et la fin du pontificat de Boniface VIII, marqué par l'affirmation des juridictions nationales au détriment de l'universalité romaine.

Présentation, textes latins et traductions des délibérations du Conseil du Peuple de la Commune de Bologne pour l'érection d'une statue à l'effigie du pape Boniface VIII en témoignage de gratitude après un arbitrage favorable de ce dernier dans le conflit entre la commune et le marquis d'Este Azzo VIII. Une reproduction de la statue, actuellement conservée au museo civico medievale de Bologne, est jointe au dossier.

Pritom se uzima u obzir činjenica da je Iacopone pripadao franjevcima duhovnjacima, te autorica u nastavku propituje Iacoponeovu kritiku Rimske crkve, klera i, posebice, pape Bonifacija VIII., s pozicije franjevaca apokaliptika. U završnim opservacijama autorica daje prikaz Iacoponeovih uvjerenja da se u vezi s papinskim aktivnostima pojavljuju znaci što navješćuju kataklizmički kraj povijesti i svijeta te dolazak Sudnjega dana., In the actual discussions Iacopone da Todi’s Laudes are witness to the troubled life of the wandering ascetic and excommunicated friar, sinner and penitent. His Laudes are a sort of Prayer book, but the analysis of themes and motifs in his poetry connects them with the Book of Revelation and presents them as being apocalyptic, spiritual and even heretical. At the same time the fact is accepted that Iacopone was connected with the apocalyptical Spiritual Franciscans and from that severe and radical position the author shows that he was steadfast in condemning the mainstream church, clergy and the Pope Boniface VIII. Final observations offer the presentation of Iacopone’s convictions that, in relation to the papal activities, the cataclysmic end of the history and the world is approaching.

Présentation des grandes lignes d'une relecture des grandes affaires qui opposèrent le roi de France Philippe le Bel et la papauté de 1301 à 1314. Les légistes de l'entourage royal, particulièrement Guillaume de Nogaret, s'efforcèrent au cours de ces affaires de transférer à la royauté capétienne les fondements mystiques de l'absolutisme et du centralisme qui caractérisaient, depuis Innocent III, la théocratie pontificale.
