This paper presents a review of modern methods for producing hydrogen, including extracting hydrogen from exhaust and purge gases of chemical industries. The technology for producing hydrogen by separation from hydrogen-containing gas obtained by partial oxidation of hydrocarbons in a high-temperature reactor (HTR) is considered. In the HTR combustion chamber, the following zones are distinguished: a combustion zone, a coking zone, and a conversion zone, i.e., a zone of hydrocarbon conversion, soot formation and soot conversion. The paper presents the results of an experimental and theoretical study of soot formation as well as the results of studying the influence of various process parameters in the HTR chamber on soot formation and burnout. A physical and chemical model for the combustion of methane with air oxygen in an HTR chamber has been developed, taking into account soot formation.
