Abstract Electric vehicles (EVs) and small photovoltaic (PV) installations advance residential power grids by lowering charging costs and fostering eco‐friendly operations. Yet, the variable nature of EV charging presents challenges to grid reliability. This research introduces a Monte Carlo‐based simulation for predicting EV charging loads and a systematic charging method that integrates a ‘green electricity’ pricing scheme with a joint optimization model for PV and EV management. By applying an improved ant lion optimizer (IALO) algorithm enriched with differential evolution features, an optimization strategy that markedly enhances grid performance is devised. In a park scenario, this ‘green electricity’ model reduced the mean square error of EV charging load by 11.82%, smoothed the power load curve, and improved grid stability. When compared with particle swarm optimization (PSO) and grey wolf optimizer (GWO) algorithms, the IALO algorithm boosted overall revenue by 16.8% and 12.8%, increased PV utilization by 162.3% and 37.1%, and significantly cut carbon emissions by 159.6% and 31.6%, respectively. These outcomes affirm the financial, environmental, and functional benefits of our proposed approach.

Cxcr4a is involved in multiple organ development including coronary vasculature formation and heart left-right (LR) patterning, whether it is involved in heart progenitor determination and cardiac rhythm regulation is not addressed. Here we showed that in cxcr4a mutants, from 2 days post fertilization (dpf) to 4dpf the embryos transiently displayed pericardial edema and increased cardiac rhythm. While from 5dpf, the heart phenotype disappeared. Detailed analysis demonstrated that, at 36hpf and 48hpf, even though there was no distinct difference in the heart size between cxcr4a mutants and controls, the expression of myl7 was decreased. Further data showed that, the heart progenitors were decreased at 18SS(Somite Stage). Mechanically, RNA-seq, RT-qPCR and in situ experiments showed that the retinoic acid (RA) signaling was upregulated, and the up-regulation of RA signaling may mediate the role of cxcr4a in regulating heart progenitor development. In addition, we also identified that low dose of RA treatment accelerated the cardiac rhythm, being similar to that in cxcr4a mutants. Decreasing RA signaling partially restored the rapid cardiac rhythm in cxcr4a mutants, implying the possibility that RA signaling partially mediates the role of cxcr4a in regulating cardiac rhythm. In conclusion, our study identified cxcr4a simultaneously regulates heart progenitor determination and cardiac rhythm.

Significant coupling exists between DC and AC lines erected on the same tower or sharing transmission corridors. Electromagnetic and electrostatic coupling between DC and AC lines are investigated based on ± 500 kV MMC-HVDC and 500 kV double-circuit AC lines on the same tower. The interactive coupling characteristics and their impacts on protective relaying are analyzed during normal operation and after DC or AC faults. Voltage coupling ratio and current coupling ratio are defined. The 50 Hz components in MMC-HVDC line may be higher than ripple criterion under the coupling of AC line and can be even more significant when a fault occurs on adjacent AC line. The DC reactor with larger inductance can reduce its impact on MMC-HVDC system. Zero-sequence overcurrent relaying and zero-sequence directional relaying for AC lines may mal-operate when a fault occurs on adjacent MMC-HVDC line. And there is also an interruption risk for AC systems. Improvement schemes are proposed to avoid the mal-operation of protective relaying. Simulation case studies verify the correctness of coupling characteristic analysis and the effectiveness of proposed improvement scheme.

The open-phase operation of the AC connection line connecting the wind farm and MMC generates negative sequence current in the system, which cause the overcurrent, overvoltage, power fluctuation and other problems. It seriously affects the power transmission and equipment safety. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the negative sequence current suppression scheme suitable for the open-phase operation and master the calculation method of electrical quantities for improving the utilization rate of wind power and ensuring the stability of the system. Based on the negative sequence current relationship between wind farm and MMC, coordinated control schemes to suppress the negative sequence current by wind farm or MMC are proposed. The calculation method of the electrical quantities for two negative sequence current suppression schemes are studied, and their requirements on the voltage and current resistance for equipment of wind farm and MMC are calculated respectively. The accuracy of the calculation method is verified in PSCAD/EMTDC, and it gives the quantitative requirements of the negative sequence control scheme on the tolerance of the system in the specific example.

Cdon and boc are members of the cell adhesion molecule subfamily III Ig/fibronectin. Although they have been reported to be involved in muscle and neural development at late developmental stage, their early roles in embryonic development remain unknown. Here, we discovered that in zebrafish, cdon, but not boc, is expressed in dorsal forerunner cells (DFCs) and the epithelium of Kupffer’s vesicle (KV), suggesting a potential role for cdon in organ left-right (LR) patterning. Further data showed that liver and heart LR patterning were disrupted in cdon morphants and cdon mutants. Mechanistically, we found that loss of cdon function led to defect in DFCs clustering, reduced KV lumen, and defective cilia, resulting in randomized Nodal/spaw signaling and subsequent organ LR patterning defects. Additionally, predominant distribution of a cdon morpholino (MO) in DFCs caused defects in DFC clustering, KV morphogenesis, cilia number/length, Nodal/spaw signaling, and organ LR asymmetry, similar to those observed in cdon morphants and cdon−/− embryos, indicating a cell-autonomous role for cdon in regulating KV formation during LR patterning. In conclusion, our data demonstrate that during gastrulation and early somitogenesis, cdon is essential for proper DFC clustering, KV formation, and normal cilia, thereby playing a critical role in establishing organ LR asymmetry.

Employing electric double-layer (EDL) capacitors to harvest low-grade heat (LGH) is a novel technique in the high-efficiency energy absorption field. This work reports the fabrication of a vertical thermoelectric cell, based on a nanoporous graphene electrode immersed in low-concentration saline solution, for use as thermo-charging supercapacitors to convert LGH to electricity via thermally induced voltage. Because of a large specific area and a large number of micropores of nanoporous graphene films, the effective thermoelectric coefficient of the thermoelectric cell containing 0.01 M KCl solution can reach as high as 4.73 mV/°C. However, many factors, such as electrode materials, electrolyte solutions, and energy conversion device components, determine the efficiency of a thermoelectric conversion device. In summary, the device has a lower internal resistance and higher output voltage when the concentration of KCl solution is 0.05 M, and demonstrates higher thermoelectric conversion efficiency. Moreover, improving the conductivity of the electrolyte solution without affecting the device output voltage is also a way to reduce the internal power consumption of the device. The specific power and thermoelectric conversion efficiency of the device are increased by several orders of magnitude when uniformly dispersed silver nanoparticles are added to the potassium chloride solution to enhance the conductivity of the solution. The specific power underwent an increase from 0.50 mW g−1 to 42.37 mW g−1, and the thermoelectric conversion efficiency also increased from 0.0022% to 0.1358%.

The wind–thermal bundled power system achieves energy complementarity and optimized scheduling, which is an important way to build a new type of energy system. For the safe and stable operation of the wind–thermal bundled power system, accurate data-driven analysis is necessary to maintain real-time balance between electricity supply and demand. By summarizing the development and characteristics of wind–thermal bundled power system in China and different countries, current research in this field can be clearly defined in two aspects: short-term wind power prediction for wind farms and performance evaluation of automatic generation control (AGC) for thermal power generation units. For short-term wind power prediction, it is recommended to focus on historical data preprocessing and artificial intelligence methods. The technical characteristics of different data-driven wind power prediction methods have been compared in detail. For performance evaluation of AGC units, a comprehensive analysis was conducted on current evaluation methods, including the “permitted-band” and “regulation mileage” methods, as well as the issue of evaluation failure in traditional evaluation methods in practical engineering. Finally, the relative optimal dynamic performance of AGC units was discussed and the future trend of data-driven research in wind–thermal bundled power system was summarized.

As the demand for power supply stability and reliability in the active distribution network (ADN) increases, the primary and secondary integrated intelligent switch (PSIIS) has become the primary choice for smart grid transformation in many weak infrastructure areas. However, the number of PSIISs that can be configured is often limited. It is necessary to comprehensively utilize the measurement data and sectional capabilities of PSIISs through the optimal configuration method to find the optimal configuration scheme. Therefore, fault observability-related indexes (FORIs) are proposed based on the functional characteristics of PSIISs. These indexes include fault type observability, fault location observability, fault current distribution characteristics observability, transition resistance observability, and weak infrastructure area observability. An optimization configuration model of PSIISs considering the comprehensive fault observability (CFO) is constructed. The adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) is selected as the model-solving method. Subsequently, an optimal configuration method of PSIISs considering CFO is proposed. Finally, an example analysis is conducted in MATLAB to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method. This optimal configuration method aims to maximize the use of a limited number of PSIISs by considering CFO, and the AGA proves to be an effective tool in solving the optimal configuration scheme.

In view of the fact that the influence of positive and negative sequence decomposition, which is widely used in positive and negative sequence decoupling control in control system, on the fault current calculation process is not deeply considered in the existing transient analysis methods of permanent magnet direct-drive wind farm short circuit current, this paper proposes a transient short circuit current calculation model that takes into account positive and negative sequence decomposition. The influence of the transient characteristics of positive and negative sequence decomposition on the control system is studied, and the mechanism of its action on the transient change of short circuit current is revealed. The positive and negative sequence decoupling processes of the circuit equation are modified, and the characteristics of the coupling equation are analyzed. The difference in the converter output voltage between the circuit equation and the control equation and the depth of its influence on the calculation process is revealed. On the basis of quantifying the difference at the converter output voltage, the circuit equation and the control equation are combined to form a short-circuit current calculation model with positive and negative sequence decomposition, which accurately characterizes the transient characteristics of fault current under different voltage drops and effectively improves the accuracy of the calculation results.

Abstract Given the “carbon neutralization and carbon peak” policy, enhancing the low voltage ride-through (LVRT) capability of wind farms has become a current demand to ensure the safe and stable operation of power systems in the context of a possible severe threat of large-scale disconnection caused by wind farms. Currently, research on the LVRT of wind farms mainly focuses on suppressing rotor current and providing reactive current support, while the impact of active current output on LVRT performance has not been thoroughly discussed. This paper studies and reveals the relationship between the limit of reactive current output and the depth of voltage drop during LVRT for doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind farms. Specifically, the reactive current output limit of the grid-side converter is independent of the depth of voltage drop, and its limit is the maximum current allowed by the converter, while the reactive current output limit of the DFIG stator is a linear function of the depth of voltage drop. An optimized scheme for allocating reactive current among the STATCOM, DFIG stator, and grid-side converter is proposed. The scheme maximizes the output of active current while satisfying the standard requirements for reactive current output. Compared to traditional schemes, the proposed LVRT optimization strategy can output more active power during the LVRT period, effectively suppressing the rate of rotor speed increase, and improving the LVRT performance and fault recovery capability of wind farms. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Abstract The virtual synchronous generator (VSG) is a good solution for stabilizing the power system with high penetration of renewable energy. However, in case of serious unbalanced voltage disturbance/fault, the conventional VSG may lose voltage, inertia, and damping support characteristics to the grid and even can cause disconnection of renewable energy. This paper proposes an improved fault control strategy for VSG with the coordination of STATCOM. The proposed method can provide sufficient voltage support while keeping continuous system inertia and damping support under severe unbalanced fault. In the paper, an improved VSG and STATCOM control topology based on positive and negative sequence current control are first proposed so as to keep the damping and inertia support to grid during the grid fault. Secondly, the voltage support control method for the VSG with improved topology during unbalanced fault is introduced, which can achieve multiple control objectives, in terms of voltage support, current limitation, and active power output simultaneously. Then a coordination control scheme of improved VSG and STATCOM is developed so as to optimize the maximum control objectives in all possible scenarios, especially in the case of severe unbalanced fault. Finally, the effectiveness of the method is verified by using the MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation platform.

The impedance of power lines is influenced by geological conditions and skin effect, resulting in frequency-dependent characteristics. In this study, a centralized parameter frequency-dependent line model based on first-order rational function fitting is investigated for short overhead transmission lines. The proposed model incorporates a parallel branch consisting of resistance and inductance obtained through rational function fitting, which mimics the frequency-dependent behavior of the line. The coupling between multiple conductors is represented using controlled sources. Comparative analysis of fitting accuracy and computational efficiency across various orders of rational functions reveals that the first-order rational function fitting offers superior computational efficiency while maintaining high accuracy in the medium and low-frequency range. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed model, when disregarding wave propagation effects, exhibits comparable accuracy to the distributed parameter line model while achieving higher computational efficiency. Moreover, in transient analysis predominantly influenced by power frequency, the proposed model outperforms the frequency-independent pi(π) line model in terms of accuracy.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a special chronic intestinal inflammatory disease, which is mainly divided into Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). Its occurrence is a complex process that regulated by multiple signaling pathways, including nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor (Nrf2)/ antioxidant response element (ARE) signaling pathway. Nrf2/ARE pathway as the central defense mechanism against oxidative stress controls the expression of many antioxidant and anti-inflammatory genes in the nucleus, and plays a crucial role in the treatment of IBD. Various studies have proved that many natural compounds target Nrf2/ARE signaling pathway to treat IBD. Here, we introduced the regulatory mechanism of the Nrf2/ARE pathway, and its role in IBD and IBD complications (intestinal fibrosis and colorectal cancer (CRC)); summarized the research progress of Nrf2 targeted natural compounds and extracts in the treatment of IBD; and finally described the intestinal microbiota that alleviate or treat IBD via activating Nrf2/ARE signaling pathway. This review highlights the potential for targeting Nrf2/ARE pathway to treat IBD.

When the direct current circuit breaker (DCCB) fails to operate, the fault range will further expand, endangering the safe operation of the power gird. Therefore, this study proposes a DCCB failure protection method and a secondary accelerated fault isolation scheme of voltage source converter-based high-voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) grids. On the basis of considering the influence of DCCB disconnection, characteristics of fault current after the failure of the DCCB are analyzed, and a circuit breaker failure protection method based on “increase current” discrimination is proposed. By analyzing the logical relationship among failed breaker re-tripping, adjacent DCCB action, blocking of the converter station, and AC circuit breaker action, a secondary accelerated fault isolation scheme is proposed to minimize the fault isolation area. The scheme achieves the accelerated isolation of DC faults after the failure of the DCCB and avoids the trip of the AC circuit breaker effectively. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Abstract Power flow controller (PFC), fault current limiter (FCL) and DC circuit breaker (DCCB) are important equipment in the DC grid. There are a large number of power electronic components in these equipment, resulting in high cost. In order to reduce the use of additional components, a current‐limiting DC circuit breaker with power flow control capability is proposed here, which integrates the PFC, FCL, and DCCB into one equipment. Further, the main breaker in the proposed circuit breaker is shared by all lines connected to a DC bus to reduce cost. The topology and operating principle of the circuit breaker are introduced. Theoretical analysis and parameter design are carried out. Besides, the proposed circuit breaker is verified in PSCAD/EMTDC. Finally, the performance and cost are compared with existing schemes. The simulation results show that the proposed circuit breaker can effectively realize power flow control, current limiting and fault isolation at a lower cost.

For the black start-up of DC micro-grids, three-phase charging resistors are required to limit the uncontrollable surge current. The main drawback of this start-up method is the difficulty in determining the appropriate resistance value to achieve a rapid start-up and limit the surge current with the change of grid parameters. To address this problem, this article proposes a soft start-up method for the DC micro-grid based on an improved two-level voltage source converter (VSC). Specifically, an silicon controlled rectifier and anti-parallel diode are added in each up-bridge-arm in the improved VSC. By conducting a dynamic control strategy of the firing angle on the SCRs, the start-up current can always be maintained near a given value to achieve rapid start-up. Moreover, the improved VSC has DC fault ride-through capability. The simulation results based on PSCAD/EMTDC are provided to validate the feasibility of the proposed start-up method.

Based on the linearized Poisson–Boltzmann equation, the electro-osmotic flow of a generalized Maxwell fluid under an alternating field in an isosceles right triangle microchannel is studied. The finite volume method and L2 interpolation method are used to obtain the numerical solution. An analytical solution is constructed to verify the accuracy of the numerical solution. Under the alternating current, the velocity will oscillate periodically. The velocity amplitude of the Maxwell fluid with the distributed order time fractional derivative is larger than that of Newtonian fluids and fractional Maxwell fluids, which indicates that its elastic characteristics further promote fluid flow. However, oscillation of the velocity does not achieve synchronization with the oscillation of the electric fields. Furthermore, due to the existence of the angle effect, the velocity will develop at acute angles and form a larger value of velocity first. The numerical results show that the relaxation time, electrokinetic width, zeta potential, and angular Reynolds number play important roles in determining the velocity and amplitude of electro-osmosis.

Abstract Flexible DC and AC transmission lines can be arranged across vertically or sharing transmission corridor. Under this condition, the possibility of intersystem fault increases significantly, which endangers the safety of both DC and AC systems. Here, the intersystem fault between bipolar half‐bridge MMC‐HVDC system and AC system is analysed. The reliability of DC wavefront protection after intersystem fault is analysed based on initial traveling wave, while the reliability of DC intersystem fault protection and AC protection is analysed based on 50 Hz component characteristics. Since wavefront protection cannot be guaranteed to operate reliably, intersystem fault protection based on 50 Hz components is applied to DC system to reliably detect intersystem faults and isolate the fault by commanding DC circuit breaker to trip. Although current differential relaying and zero‐sequence overcurrent relaying in AC system can reliably detect intersystem faults, a large DC offset prevents effective fault isolation of AC circuit breaker. This highlights the necessity of MMC‐HVDC system to reliably isolate intersystem faults.

Abstract A bipolar short‐circuit transient fault identification method for overhead transmission lines in modular multi‐level converter‐based high voltage direct current (MMC‐HVDC) grid based on the hybrid HVDC breaker is proposed. The circuit breakers on both sides of the positive and negative overhead transmission lines will trip after a bipolar short‐circuit fault in the MMC‐HVDC grid. In order to identify whether the fault is a transient fault, the isolating switch of the DC breaker on one line side is reclosed first, and the voltage change on this line side in the case of transient and permanent faults is analysed. By comparing the electrical characteristics of the voltage on the line side under transient and permanent faults, a transient fault identification method is proposed, and the calculation method of the setting value of the criterion is obtained. Finally, by building the MMC‐HVDC system model for simulation in power systems computer aided design, the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method for transient fault identification are verified.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic and life-treating inflammatory disease that can occur in multiple parts of the human intestine and has become a worldwide problem with a continually increasing incidence. Because of its mild early symptoms, most of them will not attract people’s attention and may cause more serious consequences. There is an urgent need for new therapeutics to prevent disease progression. Natural products have a variety of active ingredients, diverse biological activities, and low toxicity or side effects, which are the new options for preventing and treating the intestinal inflammatory diseases. Because of multiple genetic models, less ethical concerns, conserved signaling pathways with mammals, and low maintenance costs, the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster has become a suitable model for studying mechanism and treatment strategy of IBD. Here, we review the advantages of fly model as screening platform in drug discovery, describe the conserved molecular pathways as therapetic targets for IBD between mammals and flies, dissect the feasibility of Drosophila model in IBD research, and summarize the natural products for IBD treatment using flies. This review comprehensively elaborates that the benefit of flies as a perfact model to evaluate the therapeutic potential of phytochemicals against IBD.

The calculation method of the equivalent impedance and admittance parameters of the Gas Insulated Line (the Gas Insulated Line is abbreviated as GIL in this paper) grounded by the copper bar is studied and proposed. In consideration of the electrical coupling among the metal shell, the core wire, and the grounding copper bar, the matrix forms and characteristics of GIL impedance and admittance parameters are analyzed. The method of eliminating the coupling among the conductor layers, the grounding copper bar, and the core wire is studied in accordance with the current and voltage boundary conditions. Eventually, the calculation method of equivalent impedance and admittance parameters of the GIL core wire is proposed. The correctness of the calculation method of GIL core wire equivalent parameters is verified by simulation comparisons in PSCAD. This method can obtain the equivalent parameters of the GIL core wire by eliminating the coupling effect of external conductors and simplifies the seventh-order parameter matrix of the multi-layer GIL line to a third-order matrix that only considers the core wire parameters. The calculation speed can be significantly improved for short-circuit current calculation and related analysis of high-voltage AC systems containing GIL by using the equivalent parameters.

Escherichia coli counts as a major endometritis-causing pathogen among dairy cows, which lowered the economic benefits of dairy farming seriously. Probiotic consumption has been reported to impart beneficial effects on immunomodulation. However, the inflammatory regulation mechanism of probiotics on endometritis in dairy cows remains unexplored. The current work aimed to clarify the mechanism whereby Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 (L. rhamnosus GR-1) resists bovine endometrial epithelial cells (BEECs) inflammatory injury induced by E. coli. The model of cellular inflammatory injury was established in the BEECs, which comes from the uterus of healthy dairy cows using E. coli. The outcome of L. rhamnosus GR-1 addition on inflammation was evaluated in BEECs with E. coli-induced endometritis. The underlying mechanisms of anti-inflammation by L. rhamnosus GR-1 were further explored in E. coli-stimulated BEECs. In accordance with the obtained results, the use L. rhamnosus GR-1 alone could not cause the change of inflammatory factors, while L. rhamnosus GR-1 could significantly alleviate the expression of E. coli-induced inflammatory factors. Based on further study, L. rhamnosus GR-1 significantly hindered the TLR4 and MyD88 expression stimulated by E. coli. Moreover, we observed that in BEECs, L. rhamnosus GR-1 could inhibit the E. coli-elicited expressions of pathway proteins that are associated with NF-κB and MAPKs. Briefly, L. rhamnosus GR-1 can effectively protect against E. coli-induced inflammatory response that may be closely related to the inhibition of TLR4 and MyD88 stimulating NF-κB and MAPKs.

Nociception refers to the process of encoding and processing noxious stimuli, which allow animals to detect and avoid potentially harmful stimuli. Several types of stimuli can trigger nociceptive sensory transduction, including thermal, noxious chemicals, and harsh mechanical stimulation that depend on the corresponding nociceptors. In view of the high evolutionary conservation of the mechanisms that govern nociception from Drosophila melanogaster to mammals, investigation in the fruit fly Drosophila help us understand how the sensory nervous system works and what happen in nociception. Here, we present an overview of currently identified conserved genetics of nociception, the nociceptive sensory neurons responsible for detecting noxious stimuli, and various assays for evaluating different nociception. Finally, we cover development of anti-pain drug using fly model. These comparisons illustrate the value of using Drosophila as model for uncovering nociception mechanisms, which are essential for identifying new treatment goals and developing novel analgesics that are applicable to human health.

Abstract The multi-terminal VSC-HVDC grid is believed to be widely applied in the future power system. The dc line protection is the key technique for operation security and power supply reliability of the dc grid. In this paper, the single-ended protections, namely, the traveling-wave based protection and transient-variable based protection, as well as the pilot protections, mainly including the directional pilot protection and current differential protection, are discussed in detail. With the analyzed protections, the effective main and back-up protection strategy can be configured for the dc line in multi-terminal VSC-HVDC grid.

A single-end fault location method for single-phase nonmetallic grounding faults of transmission lines in a double terminal system is studied and proposed. First, the reason for the poor accuracy of the single-end fault location method in case of single-phase nonmetallic grounding faults is analyzed theoretically, and the necessary conditions for the single-end accurate fault location are put forward. Second, under the necessary conditions of the single-end accurate fault location, according to the topology of fault component networks, the calculation method of the single-end accurate fault location of transmission lines in a double terminal system is studied. Moreover, the influence of line capacitance is considered in this fault location method, and a simple expression for calculating the fault distance is obtained. Finally, the transmission line with a single-phase nonmetallic grounding fault is modeled in PSCAD; therefore, the correctness and the ability against transition resistance of the new single-end fault location method are verified by simulation.

Abstract A common method to examine the current-limiting performance of saturated iron-core fault current limiter (SI-FCL) in high-voltage direct-current transmission based on voltage source converter (VSC-HVDC) systems is to solve differential equations based on the system fault transient characteristics and the equivalent inductance calculation equation. This method analyzes the fault current of the VSC-HVDC system in the time domain. However, it is computationally complex and cannot directly reflect the relationship between parameters and the current-limiting effect of the SI-FCL. In this paper, the relationship between the magnetic flux density and magnetic field energy of the SI-FCL is analyzed. The energy exchange between the DC capacitor and the SI-FCL in the DC short circuit fault process is analyzed. From the perspective of electromagnetic energy conversion, the criterion for determining the current-limiting ability of the SI-FCL in the transient process is given based on the parameters of the SI-FCL and VSC-HVDC system. On this basis, the characteristics of the DC side fault current and the capacitor voltage when the SI-FCL has current-limiting ability are examined. Based on the parameters of the SI-FCL and VSC-HVDC system, a method for calculating the fault current peak value and capacitor voltage drop time is given. Finally, the accuracy of the analysis of the SI-FCL in the VSC-HVDC system based on the electromagnetic energy conversion mechanism is demonstrated through a case study and simulation results of the VSC-HVDC system with different SI-FCLs.

Multiple states emerge in the fluid flow with certain or sudden external interference. In this paper, multiple solutions of the velocity and temperature distributions of power-law fluids are found when the fluid is flowing through a viscous sheet with suction or blowing. By coupling the sheet dynamics with the surrounding fluid equations by the stress balance, the investigation results shed some light on many engineering applications of flow on various soft surfaces, for example, the synthetic plastics. The present research considers the nonuniformity of the mass suction or blowing effects, which is connected with both the stretching velocity and the thickness of the sheet. A similar transformation is adopted to transform the boundary layer equations into a series of ordinary differential equations, and multiple solutions are obtained. The existence of similar solutions has some limitations. The multiple solutions of the friction coefficient and the generalized Nusselt number affected by the power-law index n and the suction/blowing rate fw are shown, and we also discuss the influence of the generalized Prandtl number Npr and the Eckert number Ec on the velocity and temperature distributions.
