This paper presents data on screening of antimicrobial properties of extracts from some kinds of raw materials (18 plants) with hydroquinone, naphtoquinone or anthraquinone derivatives. Some technological parameters of extracts (density and concentration of extraneous substances) have been determined. The most appropriate microbiological method of studying antimicrobial properties of extracts, diffusion method of “well”, has been applied; special mathematic method of comparison of antimicrobial properties of extracts vector analysis has been applied in order to study and to compare antimicrobial properties of extracts. Indexes of antimicrobial properties of extracts have been determined: a complex index of medicinal product antimicrobial activity for quantitative estimation of antimicrobial effect - A, and square of correlation coefficient - r², which demonstrates the spectrum of antimicrobial activity of the extracts (degree of similarity to the standard). The most active extracts have been selected; they have antimicrobial properties of medium strength: from the herb of chimaphila umbellata А=2.20; the fruits of rhamnus cathartica А=2.12; the root of rubia tinctorum А=2.11; the bark of frangula alnus А=2.05; the root of rumex confertus А=2.04; the leaf of pyrola rotundifolia А=2.00; and leaf of arctostaphylos uva-ursi А=2.08 (but extract from uva-ursi did not affected on 2 strains of microorganisms r²=0.64). Low levels of antimicrobial activity have been demonstrated by the extract obtained from the leaf of urtica dioica А=0.72, r²=0.34. The mean result of the complex index of antimicrobial activity for the most of extracts from plants containing quinonederivatives is A = 1.77 (on 70% vol. ethanol at a ratio of raw material : extracting agent – 1:7 wt. : vol.) and may range from 0.68 to 2.85. The mean result of the correlation coefficient is r = 0.93 and may range from 0.59 to 0.99. The mean result of the concentration of extractives in extracts is C = 0.0386 g/g extract and may range from 0.0017 to 0.0755 g/g extract. The mean result of the extract density is ρ = 0.897 g/cm³ and may range from 0.877 to 0.917 g/cm³. It is noted antimicrobial properties of the solution of alizarin 0.1% m / m in 70% vol. ethanol, which in studies showed moderate strength antimicrobial properties: A = 1.60 and inhibited the growth of all tested strains of microorganisms r=0.99. This potentially allows to predict the antimicrobial properties of extracts from plants containing derivatives of alizarin on its concentration in them. Study data show significant antimicrobial properties of numerous kinds of raw materials that contain of hydroquinones, naphtoquinones, anthraquinones and high possibility of their use in complex phytochemical medicinal products as antimicrobial component.

The possibility to use vector algebra theory for quantitative description of antibacterial medications and comparison of their properties has been shown. Mathematic formulas for description of medications’ antibacterialaction basing on data of simple to use well method have been presented. This method allows evaluation of medications’ antibacterial activity and opportunity to choose the most active ones, as well as compare them with each other. It is noted that medications of natural origin are inferior to those of synthetic origin as for their antibacterial activity and new galenic medications possess the most antimicrobial properties. The prospects of this method for pharmacoeconomic analysis of medications conducted in order to chose optimalcost/quality ratio has been demonstrated.

The results of complex chemical, physical parameters and biological effects of the time evolution of water and glucose/sucrose solutions characteristics irradiated on an M-30 micron (12.5 MeV, 1 MRad) are presented. The eight samples of liquids (solutions) with different compositions had been choosing for investigations. Water radiolysis products have a significant indirect effect on the structure of DNA in living organisms, which is comparable to their destruction under direct radiation impact. Given that terrestrial radiation is a permanent factor in the existence of biota, the study of kinetics and the peculiarities of chemical-structural transformations for irradiated water, aqueous solutions, and their effects on the living organisms is also important. Glucose/sucrose, which are important representatives of complex carbohydrates had been chosen in this study due to their widespread use in medicine and the food industry.This paper establishes the temporal regularities, both long- and short-term, on the transformation of chemical, physical properties, and biological activity of the mentioned above solutions. On the example of microorganisms from different phylogenetic origin (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa), the biological action of irradiated solutions was determined, depending on the irradiation dose and the method of solution preparation: irradiated glucose/sucrose solutions and distilled water; irradiated dry glucose/sucrose in irradiated water; irradiated dry glucose/sucrose in irradiated water. It was found that the all irradiated samples exhibit a greater inhibitory effect on the strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa compare to the other tested bacterial strains. It has been also shown that irradiated sucrose and glucose solutions introduced into suspensions of this pathogenic strain resulted in it complete elimination immediately after irradiation and 24 h after irradiation. Solution of dry irradiated glucose in irradiated water shows complete absence of growth immediately after irradiation and 5 × 101 CFU / ml 24 hours after irradiation, however, a similar sucrose solution does not show this effect. Less profound but still strong efficacy had been observed to tested strain of staphylococci, but not to E. coli commensal bacterial strain. Experiments of this kind were conducted for the first time, so they are of scientific and practical importance, both in the applied sciences and in medicine., Представлено результати комплексних хімічних, фізичних та біологічних досліджень часової еволюції параметрів води та розчинів глюкози/сахарози, разом, - 8 складів, опроміненої на мікротроні М-30 (12.5 МеВ, 1 МРад). Продукти радіолізу води мають непрямий вплив на структуру ДНК живих організмів, співставний із їх радіаційною деструкцією. Враховуючи, що наземна радіація є постійним чинником існування біоти вивчення кінетики та особливості хіміко-структурних перетворень для води, водних розчинів та їх вплив на метаболізми живих організмів є також важливим. Вибір вказаних речовин глюкози/сахарози, які є важливими представниками складних вуглеводів, зумовлений їх широким використанням у медицині та харчовій промисловості.У даній роботі встановлені часові закономірності як довго-, так і короткотермінових релаксацій хімічних показників, оптичних властивостей та біологічної дії опромінених розчинів і води. На прикладі мікроорганізмів різних філогенетичних груп (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) встановлено вибірковість біологічної дії розчинів в залежності від дози опромінення та способу виготовлення розчину (опромінені розчини глюкози/сахарози, та дистильована вода; опроміненої сухої глюкози/сахарози у неопроміненій воді; неопроміненої сухої глюкози/сахарози у опроміненій воді). Встановлено, що більшу пригнічувану дію опромінені зразки здійснювали на клінічний штам Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Досліджено, що опромінені розчини сахарози і глюкози, внесенні в суспензії тестованого патогенного штаму призводили до повної елімінації цих мікроорганізмів одразу і через 24 год після опромінення. Розчин сухої опроміненої глюкози у неопроміненій воді зумовлював повну відсутність росту даної бактерії одразу після опромінення і 5 × 101 КУО/мл через 24 години після опромінення, однак аналогічний розчин сахарози не виявляв подібної дії.
