Baseando-se na teoria literária de Afrânio Coutinho e examinando os exemplos de Gilberto Freyre, Brasília e Lula da Silva, este artigo pretende explorar as implicações da noção de que o imperativo de redefinir continuamente as questões nacionais tornou-se um aspecto crucial da reflexão sobre a eficácia da teoria literária na academia brasileira.

This paper is aimed at investigating which commemorative practices were mobilized to celebrate the Children's Week in the Park School of Brasília between 1960 and 1971. The privileged empirical corpus consists of news about the celebrations of the Children's Week in the Park School published in the newspaper Correio Braziliense. In methodological terms, the onomastic method of Carlo Ginzburg was used. The results indicate that in the period under consideration, the practices aimed at demarcating and celebrating the Children's Week in the Park School may be categorized into three groups: artistic practices, school practices, and sports practices. They were, at the same time, celebratory and educational, as they were intended to inculcate certain habits, behaviors, and attitudes, producing certain models of children to be made visible and praised through this school celebration. No Brasil, é comum a criação de Regiões Metropolitanas (RMs) e Regiões Integradas de Desenvolvimento (RIDEs) visando a aprimorar a integração entre seus membros e promover o desenvolvimento regional. No entanto, faltam estudos que investiguem os impactos resultantes dessas iniciativas. O presente artigo estuda os impactos fiscais da Região Integrada de Desenvolvimento do Distrito Federal e Entorno (RIDE-DF). Para isso, foi adotado um modelo de Diferença em Diferenças, usando dados de finanças públicas dos municípios. Os municípios que ingressaram na região integrada em 1998 foram considerados o grupo de tratamento. Por outro lado, o grupo de controle foi formado pelos municípios que ingressaram na RIDE-DF apenas em 2018 e por aqueles que estão nos projetos de lei como postulantes a entrar na região integrada, ou seja, pelos municípios que estariam aptos, mas não ingressaram na região integrada na data do tratamento (1998). Esse grupo configura um contrafactual adequado para avaliação dos resultados do arranjo. Os resultados indicam a ausência de impactos nos gastos públicos locais, bem como uma diminuição nas receitas tributárias. Adicionalmente, os municípios que ingressaram na RIDE-DF não apresentaram aumento em seu nível de atividade econômica (avaliado através do PIB per capita ou da quantidade de empresas) em comparação com os municípios que constituem o grupo de controle.

O presente trabalho visa fomentar relações entre a velhice, o tempo e os objetos como dispositivo de memória. Será abordada a primeira etapa de criação do novo trabalho do coletivo brasiliense Entrevazios a partir de um outro olhar sobre o objeto e as histórias pessoais de mulheres idosas que deixaram suas cidades natais para tentar a vida no território da nova capital federal. Nos meses de agosto a outubro de 2023, foram escutadas e registradas histórias de mulheres idosas em quatro regiões administrativas do Distrito Federal a partir da ação “Barraca de Memórias”. Os relatos virarão um mini documentário e posteriormente a dramaturgia de um trabalho cênico-instalativo em Teatro de Objetos.

La implantación del Conjunto Urbano de Brasilia (CUB) ocurrió en una unidad geográfica de paisaje singular, con rasgos ambientales y topográficos considerados propicios por las comisiones científicas que condujeron estudios en el territorio1. La posición de destaque de Brasilia en la Cuenca Hidrográfica del Paranoá, debido a la puesta en marcha del Plan Piloto sobre el relieve del domo, permite una visualización privilegiada del horizonte de varios ángulos de dentro hacia afuera; y la posibilidad de que diferentes sitios urbanos, vecinos a la ciudad, visualicen el bien protegido, de fuera hacia adentro2. Buscando acercarnos a planteamientos como el de la recomendación sobre el paisaje urbano histórico (PUH/HUL), exploraremos los diversos estratos que componen este paisaje, centrándonos en la Serrinha do Paranoá y el sector Habitacional del Taquari, sitio ubicado en el entorno protector del CUB.

Objetivo da Investigação: O objetivo geral desta pesquisa é investigar as matrizes discursivas da sustentabilidade apresentadas no processo de comercialização de espaços residenciais fechados. Como objetivos específicos, busca-se identificar os principais elementos que constituem odiscurso de sustentabillidade de acordo com os produtores de unidades habitacionais em espaços residenciais fechados e comparar o uso de cada elemento conforme o gênero construtivo da habitação, seja horizontal ou vertical. Metodologia: O recorte espacial escolhido foi o espaço urbano dos municípios que pertencem a área metropolitana de Brasília. Apesar de pertencerem a um estado da federação diferente (Goiás), os municípios de Cidade Ocidental e Valparaíso de Goiás estão envoltos na espacialidade metropolitana da capital federal do Brasil. A partir de pesquisa bibliográfica, com a intenção de revisitar a discussão acerca da sustentabilidade, de compreender o processo de metropolização do espaço de Brasília e de analisar a comercialização de espaços residenciais fechados, avançou-se para a pesquisa documental de material publicitário de empresas produtoras de habitações nestes espaços onde aplicou-se a técnica de análise do conteúdo. Resultados: Foi possível constatar que as empresas exploram um grupo específico de elementos, com destaque para a economia de recursos financeiros no caso dos empreendimentos em espaços verticais, enquanto a qualidade de vida tem protagonismo nas habitações horizontais. Originalidade/Valor: A pesquisa aborda a maneira pela qual os produtores de espaços residenciais fechados da área metropolitana de Brasília exploram as matrizes discursivas da sustentabilidade enquanto argumento de marketing verde, o que contribui para identificar quais ações são realmente concretizadas no espaço investigado.

La noche del veintiuno de diciembre de dos mil veinte, se proyectaron en las fachadas del Congreso Nacional de Brasilia, diseñado por Oscar Niemeyer, grafismos de la cosmología Yanomami con el fin de reivindicar la expulsión de los garimpeiros de sus Tierra Indígenas y denunciar la contaminación de suelos, ríos y degradación forestal de sus territorios. Esta proyección de la animación amerindia, titulada Xapiri pë në mari [El soplo de los xapiri], con frases de Davi Kopenawa e ilustraciones del artista Joseca Yanomami, además de ser un acto político de suma importancia, abre otros cuestionamientos en el campo de la arquitectura y del urbanismo. Frente al proyecto moderno impuesto sobre el territorio que supuso en la década de 1950 la construcción de Brasilia, la intervención Yanomami interpela y pone en jaque la supremacía de un proyecto nacional urbano-territorial, invocando otras epistemologías y visiones de mundo. Esta reflexión explica cómo este gesto arquitectónico, devora críticamente al edificio institucional, en el sentido antropofágico, al vestir con un pellejo amerindio a un símbolo del canon espacial moderno. La propuesta antropofágica de intervención en la arquitectura abre perspectivas proyectuales y propone un diálogo para diseñar juntos múltiples urbanidades posibles, apuntando a otras relaciones y devenires entre la Floresta y la Ciudad.

Resumo O presente estudo problematiza a segregação planejada em Brasília durante a sua construção, tendo como base o caso da vila Amauri, uma ocupação informal de candangos que existiu entre 1959 e 1960, próxima ao Congresso Nacional, em uma região que posteriormente e de modo planejado seria inundada pelas águas do lago Paranoá. Utilizamos autores clássicos da sociologia urbana para debater as categorias sociológicas da cidade, resgatando, em segundo lugar, estudos a respeito da visão dualista e excludente de discursos que pregavam a modernização. Por último, desenvolvemos uma discussão acerca de Brasília e a segregação planejada nos seus primórdios, evidenciando, por meio de relatos orais, uma apropriação do espaço mais plural e destoante do que aquela apregoada pelos idealizadores do projeto da capital.

Tomando por fonte a Revista Brasília, o artigo objetiva responder a três questões, formuladas no diálogo com a ainda incipiente historiografia da infância no Distrito Federal, relativa aos anos da construção de Brasília, isto é, de 1957 a 1960: será que não havia uma quantidade significativa de crianças naquele gigantesco canteiro de obras a céu aberto? Se havia, elas compareceram, de algum modo, nos textos e imagens dados a ler no Brasil e no exterior no periódico da NOVACAP? Que infância ou infâncias foram representadas na Revista Brasília?

Este trabalho parte da proposição da ressignificação memorial referente ao contexto histórico formador da ideia e produção da cidade capital do Brasil, Brasília. O objetivo foi indicar a riqueza temporal que induziu a ideia de transferência da capital brasileira, deixando o litoral mercantilista em direção ao interior do território, reconhecendo a origem e a evolução dos estudos cartográficos como um dos elementos basilares e fundamental para o conhecimento espacial e geográfico do Centro-Oeste brasileiro, tendo como principais justificativas a defesa e a ocupação territorial. Também foi objetivo do estudo interpretar, na análise dos fatos, a participação estratégica do Marquês de Pombal, no século XVIII, que possuía uma ligação íntima com os cartógrafos Ângelo dos Santos Cardoso e Tosi Colombina, responsáveis ​​diretos por pesquisarrem e realizarem os mapas pioneiros da capitania de Goiás, sítio que sediou a construção de Brasília mais de 200 anos após a inspiração estratégica da corte portuguesa em reconhecimento e indicar a transferência da capital do Brasil para o interior do território. In The Urban Enigma: Time, Autonomy, and Postcolonial Transformation in Latin America, Simone Vegliò discusses some dilemmas in forming a post-colonial Latin American urban space based on three major architectural projects in Buenos Aires, Mexico City, and Brasília. The book discusses the projects’ ambitions in line with the vision of modernity at their time while contrasting their aims with the demands of social inclusion, justice, and the continuation of colonial ideas.

This work starts from the proposition of the memorial resignification referring to the historical context that formed the idea and production of the capital city of Brazil, Brasilia. The objective was to indicate the temporal richness that induced the idea of transferring the Brazilian capital, leaving the mercantilist coast towards the interior of the territory, recognizing the origin and evolution of cartographic studies as one of the basic and fundamental elements for spatial and geographic knowledge of the Brazilian Center-West, having as main justifications the defense and the territorial occupation. It was also the objective of the study to interpret, in the analysis of the facts, the strategic participation of the Marquês de Pombal, in the 18th century, who had an intimate connection with the cartographers Ângelo dos Santos Cardoso and Tosi Colombina, who were directly responsible for researching and producing the pioneering maps of the captaincy of Goiás, site that hosted the construction of Brasília more than 200 years after the strategic inspiration of the Portuguese court in recognizing and indicating the transfer of the capital of Brazil to the interior of the territory. Thus, the article in its context, proposes to contribute to the debate regarding the geohistory of the city of Brasilia, highlighting the elasticity of the temporal and spatial field that made possible the materialization of the modernist city, listed as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Organization for the Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) in 1990. Sporotrichosis is a subcutaneous infection caused by fungi from the genus Sporothrix. It is transmitted by inoculation of infective particles found in plant-contaminated material or diseased animals, characterizing the classic sapronotic and emerging zoonotic transmission, respectively. Since 1998, southeastern Brazil has experienced a zoonotic sporotrichosis epidemic caused by S. brasiliensis, centred in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Our observation of feline sporotrichosis cases in Brasília (Midwestern Brazil), around 900 km away from Rio de Janeiro, led us to question whether the epidemic caused by S. brasiliensis has spread from the epicentre in Rio de Janeiro, emerged independently in the two locations, or if the disease has been present and unrecognized in Midwestern Brazil. A retrospective analysis of 91 human and 4 animal cases from Brasília, ranging from 1993 to 2018, suggests the occurrence of both sapronotic and zoonotic transmission. Molecular typing of the calmodulin locus identified S. schenckii as the agent in two animals and all seven human patients from which we were able to recover clinical isolates. In two other animals, the disease was caused by S. brasiliensis. Whole-genome sequence typing of seven Sporothrix spp. strains from Brasília and Rio de Janeiro suggests that S. brasiliensis isolates from Brasília are genetically distinct from those obtained at the epicentre of the outbreak in Rio de Janeiro, both in phylogenomic and population genomic analyses. The two S. brasiliensis populations seem to have separated between 2.2 and 3.1 million years ago, indicating independent outbreaks or that the zoonotic S. brasiliensis outbreak might have started earlier and be more widespread in South America than previously recognized.

This article examines contemporary artists' appropriation of the city of Brasília to critique Brazil's continued reliance on the "unfinished" project of modernity. Exploring the construction of the scenography of Brasília and its resonance with the architecture and organization of space in the colonial plantations, the works of contemporary artists Lais Myrrha (Estudo de Caso [Case Study], Estudo para um Futuro Construído [Study for a Constructed Future]), and Talles Lopes (Construção Brasileira [Brazil Builds]) allows us to reconnect Brasília with the backdrop that gave rise to this ideal. These works invoke the reconciliation of the colonial matrix of power in Lucio Costa's discourse about modernist architecture in Brazil, of which Brasília is the culmination. Myrrha's and Lopes' works show that the history and legacy of Brasília, not only as an idea but also as form, are embedded in the Brazilian imaginary and built environment in the contemporary moment. Este trabalho consiste numa análise documental de dossiês de tombamento relativos a construções erguidas antes da construção de Brasília e localizadas no território do Distrito Federal. Trata-se do Museu Histórico e Artístico de Planaltina, da Igreja São Sebastião de Planaltina, da Pedra Fundamental de Planaltina e da Casa da Fazenda Gama, que, por sua arquitetura e origem, contrastam com a monumentalidade moderna do Plano Piloto de Brasília. O método consistiu em coleta de dados de dossiês e análise de justificativas para os tombamentos expressas nessa documentação, o que nos permitiu investigar como ocorreu a incorporação de uma alegada "tradição goiana" em discursos patrimoniais relativos a Brasília. Nossas conclusões apontam como esse patrimônio é valorizado nos dossiês, sobretudo por seu papel no processo de implantação e construção da nova capital, em uma tentativa de reforçar a imagem monumental de Brasília.

Thinking about modernist urbanism as a period in architecture with potential for the future of cities has been outside the canon for several decades. But from a critical viewpoint, the postmodern stance on modernist mass housing continuously failed to dissociate high modernist urbanism as a unified architectural project from its socio-political, economic, and infrastructural context. While the public image of the projects declined, the architectural canon shifted away from modernist urbanism. And although modernist architecture as a whole recovered from the trauma, the urbanist branch became infamous for failing. However, since the birth of total modernism, its architecture has always been about experimentation and failure. One hundred years later and once again—for different reasons—we confront similar needs for affordable, inclusive housing for never-ending streams of migration clashing with the ecological imperative to free up land to regreen our cities affected by global warming. Although different times bring different requirements, the first waves of modernist experiments had already invented the basic tools. A refreshed moment of attention that negotiates the potential of modernist urbanism could fill the gaps and nuance the postmodernist critique. What does all this mean for urbanism today, and what can it learn from modernist urbanism?

RESUMO Com o objetivo de revisitar um marco histórico do modernismo brasileiro sob outro viés e identificar imaginários de progresso presentes em duas obras artísticas, este artigo propõe um diálogo entre arte, literatura, política e história. Ambientando-se no período de construção de Brasília e na experiência dos trabalhadores nesse processo, as peças-chave para elucidação dessas imagens são: o conto “As margens da alegria”, de Guimarães Rosa, e o quadro Angelus Novus, de Paul Klee. Como resultado desta análise, a aproximação e a interpretação de diferentes linguagens artísticas apontam uma reflexão sobre as nuances do projeto modernista de desenvolvimento, como também sobre os impactos do progresso em subjetividades e territorialidades.

COVID 19 has proved to be a challenging time worldwide. For the last three years, academics have researched its impacts through different lenses and perspectives in many significant fields. In the urban academic realm, there has been a growing debate on the potential change in behavior towards public space usage during the pandemic. After compulsory confinent, public spaces became under the mainstream debate of the importance of public spaces for livelihood in times of crisis. Still, assessing its impacts on public space is still not widely done, neither quantitatively nor qualitatively. This research brings Brasilia as a study case to understand whether the pandemic has affected the usage of the iconic abundance of green spaces of the capital city on the first 18 months, before the introduction of vaccination. Brasilia as a garden-city, a concept brought by the modern urban design movement, has always faced criticism for its hygienist design and the ample provision of green spaces. The garden-city features was put to a test after COVID 19 through the analysis of five different types of public spaces using surveys and interviews with local residents of Plano Piloto (n=147). The results show that during the pandemic the usage of local neighborhood parks within walking distance has indeed increased. People tend to use these spaces for exercising but most importantly to socialize with friends and family. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The city of Brasília is full of symbolic meanings. It is the headquarters of the powers of the Republic, a city that is still young and was marked by migration. The federal capital offers its residents a complex context for an identity formation, often strained by disputes over meanings. Controversy surrounds the comprehension of the city's territorial base. Contrarily to a typical city, Brasilia is formed by discontinuous urban patches. It is a city made up of different urban unities. They range from large urban unities as the satellite towns and a central area, named Plano Piloto, to the urban gated communities, increasingly installed in the rural interregnum existing in the capital since its foundation. We propose presenting different conceptions on the (territorial) meanings of Brasilia which are based, mainly, on two extremes. On one side, we have those who support a more restricted territorial comprehension with limits reduced to the initial plan of the city; on the other side, there are those who believe the capital city has more extensive boundaries, expanding the meaning of 'what is Brasilia' and closer to a territorial configuration of Distrito Federal. Finally, both conceptions are based on colliding urban and political perspectives. While the first is associated with a more conservative comprehension of the city, the second is based on the recognition of the shifting and fluid dynamics of urban life. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

When one thinks about the constitution of daycare centers and preschools in Brasília, from the moment the capital was inaugurated, on April 21, 1960, there is still a gap in history that allows us to grasp a historical interpretation of the education and care given to these children, at least in the first two decades. To understand this constitution and the practices/conceptions present there, this study locates, through an inventory of sources, the documents that make it possible to go through the traces of the first daycare centers and kindergartens in Brasília, in the 1960s and 1970s. Having defined the intention, the files consulted were: the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP); the Public Archive of the Federal District; the Public Archive of the Senate, the Digital Newspaper Library of the National Library, and the Museum of Education of the Federal District. As first interpretations, it was possible to show that, in Brasília, the creation of the daycare center and preschool follows what happened in other parts of the Brazilian territory, with distinction where the first was a guard space and the second of pedagogical practices with children, made by trained teachers. However, there is already a demand for daycare that ends up echoing in the pages of the Correio Braziliense newspaper, albeit as a right of the mother and not of the children. In the kindergartens, the organization of routines is located, where the languages appeared, linked to playing, although not centered on the children, but on the proposers of the activities: the teachers. Brasília's red dust is everywhere. Regularly tinting the white surfaces of Brasília's modernist buildings red, a great effort of human labor is required every day to maintain their intended autonomy. Dust clouds first appeared in February 1957 due to massive earthworks and the clearing of the original landscape. While large tractors and caterpillars aggressively manipulated the ground following the forms of Lucio Costa's Pilot Plan, a formless entropic dispersal of red soil microparticles filled the air. As the floating dust spread over Brasília's construction site, it also filled the printed pages of newspapers and magazines This article intends to discuss how dust tainted the representation of Brasília. As modernist architecture confronted the landscape, dust introduced a distortion in the pure image of Brasília, threatening not only the whiteness of the upcoming architectures but also contaminating drawings, cameras, lenses, printed photographs, clothes and lungs. While most of the architectural black and white photos of Brasília tended to produce clean images, the introduction of the newest color film Ektachrome by photojournalists made earthworks and dust visible. Associated with grainy reproduction in illustrated magazines and speckles of dust in the negatives themselves, the images enhanced the perception of Brasília's total environmental design. If dust is, according to Richard Meyer, "an environment in miniature, a physical archive of our material surroundings," this article analyzes how these fine particles of solid matter and their accidental reproduction, operated as visual dissonances that confuse the modern distinction between nature and culture. Resumo: O texto apresenta o documento “O Planejamento do Sistema Escolar Público de Brasília”, da autoria de Paulo de Almeida Campos, publicado em 1959 pela Revista Brasileira de Estudos Pedagógicos (RBEP) e republicado em segunda edição em comemoração aos 85 anos do Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (Inep). Inicialmente é destacado o contexto social e político da construção de Brasília, que deu ensejo a variados planejamentos, entre eles, o educacional. Em seguida são tecidas considerações sobre o processo de planejamento do sistema de ensino de Brasília gestado por Anísio Teixeira e que esteve a cargo do Instituto Nacional de Estudos Pedagógicos e seus técnicos, finalizando-se com uma descrição sumária dos elementos que compõem o sistema de ensino sistematizado no documento.

Ao longo do século XX, mais precisamente entre 1930 e 1960, afirmar a independência do Brasil ganhou contornos de um projeto político e cultural que urdiu a Arquitetura Moderna Brasileira e definiu precisos marcos de fundação (Ministério da Educação e Saúde Pública, MESP) e ocaso (Brasília). A identidade brasileira, construída sob a herança lusa, justificavam a aproximação e as trocas culturais entre Brasil e Portugal, num refluxo que mais adiante causaria alguma náusea. Analisamos a crítica nacional e internacional exposta em livros, revistas e atas de congressos acerca da Arquitetura Moderna Brasileira em contraponto ao enquadramento político internacional, concluindo por compreender o peso das decisões políticas sob as críticas e o lugar reservado a Brasília na história arquitetónica e urbanística.

The design for the Superquadra Norte 109 [North Superblock 109] of the Brasília Pilot Plan, Brazil’s Federal Capital, has started from a critical appraisal of the existent superblocks and makes a proposal that intends to: 1) establish clear relations of the block with the surroundings, stressing the importance of elements as the entrance for vehicles, the bus stop and the connections with the local shopping and the club, through the dimension and form of places, the localization of facilities, public lighting and vegetation; 2) improve internal legibility of the block, by creating places clearly defined by the buildings, to which entrance doors open; 3) create a street system in rings, not in a tree-like one, which are common in the existing superblocks, to improve internal circulation; 4) locate facilities internal to the superblock accessible to its entrance, by recognising (against what was predicted) that non-locals use them; 5) establish a continuous system of sidewalks that privileges the pedestrian, not the vehicle, as is traditional; 6) use vegetation and illumination to reinforce the identities of places in the superblock; 7) implement a configuration that explores a clear variation in forms, dimensions and uses, which favour the identity and orientability of the block; 8) configure open spaces and localise facilities of the superblock to favour co-presence and co-awareness among the inhabitants and between the latter and those passing by.

This paper presents theoretical reflections and empirical experiences on communication and education strategies in schools with the goal of analyzing how communication technologies, the right of access to information, and social mobilization have been used as instruments for training teachers and students at elementary schools in information and communication technologies, in the northern region of the Federal District (DF) in Brazil.
