The probabilistic interpretation of the standard Regge-Gribov model with triple pomeron interactions is discussed. It is stated that introduction of probabilities within this model is not unique and depends on what is meant under the relevant substructures, The traditional interpretation in terms of partons (quarks and gluons) is shown to be external to the model, imported from the QCD, and actually referring to the single pomeron exchange without interactions. So this interpretation actually forgets the model as such. Alternative probabilities based on the pomerons as basic quantities within the model are discussed. Two different approaches are considered, based either on the pomerons in Fock's expansion of the wave function or on pomeron propagators in Feynman diagrams. These pomeron probabilities and entropy turn out to be very different from the mentioned standard ones in the purelyp obabilistic treatment. The entropy, in particular, either rises with the rapidity and saturates at a certain fixed value or first rises, reaches some maximum and goes down to zero afterwards. Possible observable manifestations of these probabilities and entropy are to be seen in the distributions of the cross-section in powers of the coupling constants to the participants. 23, Comment: 23 pages, 12 figures

The Regge-Gribov model of the pomeron and odderon in the non-trivial transverse space is studied by the renormalization group technique. The single loop approximation is adopted. Five real fixed points are found and the high-energy behaviour of the propagators is correspondingly calculated. As without odderon, the asymptotic is modulated by logarithms of energy in certain rational powers. Movement of coupling constants away from the fixed points is investigated both analytically (close to the fixed points) and numerically (far away). In the former case attraction occurs only in restricted domains of initial coupling constants. More generally in one third of the cases the coupling constants instead grow large indicating the breakdown of the single loop approximation., Comment: 39 pages, 10 figures; submitted to Eur.Phys.Jour. Production of pions in high-energy collisions with nuclei in the kinematics prohibited for free nucleons ("cumulative pions") is studied in the fusing color string model.The model describes the so-called direct mechanism for cumulative production. The other, spectator mechanism dominates in production of cumulative protons but is suppressed for pions. In the model cumulative pions are generated by string fusion which raises the maximal energy of produced partons above the level of the free nucleon kinematics. Momentum and multiplicity sum rules are used to determine the spectra in the deep fragmentation region. Predicted spectra of cumulative pions exponentially fall with the scaling variable $x$ in the interval $1

We present a method to model a discretized time evolution of probabilistic networks on gate-based quantum computers. We consider networks of nodes, where each node can be in one of two states: good or failed. In each time step, probabilities are assigned for each node to fail (switch from good to failed) or to recover (switch from failed to good). Furthermore, probabilities are assigned for failing nodes to trigger the failure of other, good nodes. Our method can evaluate arbitrary network topologies for any number of time steps. We can therefore model events such as cascaded failure and avalanche effects which are inherent to financial networks, payment and supply chain networks, power grids, telecommunication networks and others. Using quantum amplitude estimation techniques, we are able to estimate the probability of any configuration for any set of nodes over time. This allows us, for example, to determine the probability of the first node to be in the good state after the last time step, without the necessity to track intermediate states. We present the results of a low-depth quantum amplitude estimation on a simulator with a realistic noise model. We also present the results for running this example on the AQT quantum computer system PINE. Finally, we introduce an error model that allows us to improve the results from the simulator and from the experiments on the PINE system.

We present a method to formulate the unit commitment problem in energy production as quadratic unconstrained binary optimization (QUBO) problem, which can be solved by classical algorithms and quantum computers. We suggest a first approach to consider uncertainties in the renewable energy supply, power demand and machine failures. We show how to find cost-saving solutions of the UCP under these uncertainties on quantum computers. We also conduct a study with different problem sizes and we compare results of simulated annealing with results from quantum annealing machines.

We show how phase and amplitude estimation algorithms can be parallelized. This can reduce the gate depth of the quantum circuits to that of a single Grover operator with a small overhead. Further, we show that for quantum amplitude estimation, the parallelization can lead to vast improvements in resilience against quantum errors. The resilience is not caused by the lower gate depth, but by the structure of the algorithm. Even in cases with errors that make it impossible to read out the exact or approximate solutions from conventional amplitude estimation, our parallel approach provided the correct solution with high probability. The results on error resilience hold for the standard version and for low depth versions of quantum amplitude estimation. We consider the one-dimensional local reggeon theory describing the leading pomeron with the conformal spin $l=0$ and two subdominant pomerons with $l=\pm 2$. In the last decade, for studying 3$N$ bound states and $Nd$ scattering the Tucson-Melbourne (TM) and Urbana 3$N$ force derived from the chiral EFT have been applied. We plan to use the TM 3$N$ force for studying the $Nd$ scattering on the basis of the Faddeev equations in configuration space. In the given paper, we present our final formulas for components of the TM 3$N$ potential obtained in the coordinate space., Comment: 22 pages

The four-pomeron vertex is studied in the perturbative QCD. Its dominating terms of the leading (zeroth and first) orders in the coupling constant and subdominant in the number of colors are constructed. The vertex consists of two terms, one with a derivative in rapidity $\pd_y$ and the other with the BFKL interaction between pomerons. The corresponding part of the action and equations of motion are found. The iterative solution of the latter is possible only for rapidities smaller than 2 and quite large coupling constant $\alpha_s$, of the order or greater than unity, when the quadruple pomeron interaction is relatively small. Also iteration of the part with $\pd_y$ is unstable in the infrared region and compels to introduce an infrared cut. The variational approach with simple trying functions allows to find the minimum of the action at $\alpha_s$ of the order 0.2 and rapidities up to 25. Numerical estimates for O-O collisions show that actually the influence of the quadruple pomeron interaction turns out to be rather small., Comment: 27 pages, 10 figures

A process for growing gallium nitride (GaN) vertical p-i-n homojunctions on (111) silicon (Si) substrates using metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) was developed, and a triple mesa etch technique was used to fabricate efficient betavoltaic energy converters. Monte Carlo simulation platform CASINO was used to model beta radiation penetration into GaN to aid device design. The resulting devices were tested under irradiation from a scanning electron microscope (SEM) electron beam (e-beam) tuned to imitate the energies of the 63Ni beta emission spectrum. Based on current-voltage (I-V) measurements taken under e-beam illumination, a maximum open-circuit voltage of 412 mV and a maximum short-circuit current density of 407 nA/cm2 were measured. A high fill factor (FF) of 0.77 and power conversion efficiency of 6.6% were obtained. Additionally, the proposed triple mesa etch technique used to create these betavoltaics has potential for further use in fabricating many types of electronic devices using a wide variety of material platforms., Comment: 7 pages, 8 figures

We present a novel use case for quantum computation: the sensitivity analysis for a risk model used at Deutsche B\"orse Group. Such an analysis is computationally too expensive to perform on classical computers. We show in detail how the risk model and its analysis can be implemented as a quantum circuit. We test small scale versions of the model in simulation and find that the expected quadratic speedup compared to the classical implementation used at Deutsche B\"orse Group can be realized. Full scale production usage would be possible with less than 200 error corrected qubits. Our quantum algorithm introduces unitary but imperfect oracles which use Quantum Amplitude Estimation to detect and mark states. This construction should be of general interest and we present theoretical results regarding the performance of Grover's search algorithm with imperfect oracles.

Evolution of the reduced density matrix for a subsystem is studied to determine deviations from its Markov character for a system consisting of a closed chain of $N$ oscillators with one of them serving as a subsystem. The dependence on $N$ and on the coupling of the two subsystems is investigated numerically. The found deviations strongly depend on $N$ and the coupling. In the most beneficial case with $N-1=100$ and the coupling randomized in its structure the deviations fall with the evolution time up 3\%. In other cases they remain to be of the order 30\% or even more., Comment: 17 pages, 10 figures

We propose the one-dimensional reggeon theory describing local pomerons and odderons. It generalizes the well-known one-dimensional theory of pomerons (the Gribov model) and includes only triple interaction vertices. In view of the planning experiments for collisions of light nuclei at RHIC the flow coefficients for O-O, Al-AL and Cu-Cu collisions are studied in the color string percolation model. Our results for $v_2$ are somewhat smaller than predicted by other groups although with the same dependence on centrality. The C-odd amplitude for the elastic $pp$ and $p\bar{p}$ scattering due to the exchange of the QCD odderon proposed by J.Bartels, L.N.Lipatov and G.P. Vacca is calculated with the Fukugita-Kwiecinski proton impact factor. The found amplitude is very small and cannot be felt in the differential cross-sections at 2.76 and 1.96 Tev respectively., Comment: 10 pages 5 figures

Several studies have found significant increase in the fatigue strength of welded joints of structural steels at sub-zero temperatures. This study addresses the research by investigating the applicability of local fatigue assessment methods to welded joints exposed to sub-zero temperatures. For this purpose, fatigue test results of two fillet weld details with weld toe and weld root failure are evaluated at a range of temperatures using a variety of structural hot-spot and notch stress approaches, then are compared to the nominal stress approach. Large differences in prediction accuracy are found for the analysed assessment methods and both failure locations.

In the effective action approach the imaginary part of the triple pomeron amplitude is calculated. The found dependence on the longitudinal momentum transfer $\e$ is found to separate as a simple factor $1/|\e|$.
