Covid-19 has resulted in a global health and socioeconomic crisis that is still unprecedented in history. Since Indonesia confirmed its first Covid-19 case, UNICEF has led several pandemic response efforts in collaboration with the government, the World Health Organization (WHO), and other partners. This research discussed the process of handling the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The theory used in this research was the Spiral of Silence theory, while the method used van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis. The object of research was articles on Kompas.com published from August to December 2020. We concluded that the government provides too much security through nonverbal languages, such as not providing examples of the health protocol implementation that should have been implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, there is still a sense of security generated in the absence of compliance with policies and sanctions that should have been implemented. As a result, the public has become oblivious to the applicable regulations and believes that the pandemic is not a major issue. As a result, this condition has worsened the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Indonesia.

In November 2018, the authors spent five days in Rwanda, visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial (KGM) and undertaking a paid tourist day trip to regional memorials and a ‘reconciliation village’ near the border with Burundi, to conduct creative research by using the established, institutional network of post-genocide and reconciliation education and tourism in Rwanda. The authors collaborated to produce a visual essay that would focus purely on peripheral visual and aural impressions. They refrained from attempting to photograph exhibits or interview witnesses but rather took still images around external areas of the memorials as well as street views around Kigali. They were granted permission to audio record a conversation with a survivor and a perpetrator of the 1994 Rwandan genocide at the reconciliation village. This visual essay is presented as an assemblage of incidental photographs and fragments of the verbatim text of the taped conversation with the villagers. KGM workers explained that reconciliation villages exist throughout Rwanda as part of a state-sponsored reconciliation and peace building programme by virtue of which selected genocide perpetrators serving prison terms receive an official pardon, are trained in peace building, and are given resources to join genocide survivors in the construction of village infrastructure and community.

The disease currently spans over 80 countries, across the New World and Old World, potentially affecting 500 million people with 1 million new cases reported annually. Leishmaniasis is a vector-driven disease, utilizing two genus of sand fly, Phlebotomus sand fly is responsible for Old World transmission, whereas the Lutzomyia sand fly is responsible for New World transmission. The two main stages of leishmaniasis, are the diagnostic stage (promastigote in sand fly) and the infective stage (amastigote in mammalian cells). Dependent on strain, geography and location of infection, there are three main forms of leishmaniasis: cutaneous (subdivided into diffuse-cutaneous leishmaniasis (DCL) and disseminated-cutaneous leishmaniasis (DL)); mucocutaneous; and visceral (subdivided into post-kala azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL)). The DNDi status of leishmaniasis indicates that the pharmaceutical interest into research and development is shockingly low, resulting in very little progress into new treatments, limited to current therapeutics that suffer from severe toxicities (cardio, nephro, hepato, oto). These issues can be circumvented by utilising liposomal drug-carriers, as part of an increased interest in nanoparticle research across all glycosciences, modifying these drugs to interact better with the target cell or liposomal carrier can be of great benefit. Aims and Objectives: This project investigated the modification of current therapeutics in leishmanial treatment, paromomycin and compare the changes in antimicrobial efficacy. These modifications would revolve around enhanced binding affinity for macrophages and for liposomal carriers. As online communication is increasingly used for collaborative purposes, it is important to rethink some of the audio and text-based chat environments currently in use today. Popular online video conferencing tools like Zoom and Skype, and text-based tools like Discord offer a sleuth of features and allow users to interact and exchange ideas freely. However, they may not be well suited for certain types of tasks, namely a virtual classroom with hierarchical breakrooms for focused discussions in virtual spaces. This thesis develops a hierarchical-based communication system that is conducive for the aforementioned tasks. The audio structure is built within a virtual environment and implemented using the Unity game engine and the Dissonance Voice Chat package. Users can navigate in the virtual space as avatars and have access to increasingly private audio and text chat channels called audio regions. Users can communicate exclusively on these audio regions but may hear communication at dimmed volumes on parent channels. This allows them to hear announcements from public channels while still retaining focus of discussion on private channels. We performed a comparative analysis of our audio structure with popular online communication tools like Zoom, Skype and Discord on two types of activities or games.
