As in the transport sector, it is also necessary to investigate alternatives to fossil diesel fuel in the agricultural sector. In addition to technical feasibility, ecological viability and social acceptance, economic viability is ultimately decisive in determining whether an alternative energy source is competitive. Against this background, in this paper, a cost calculation model is described to analyze the competitiveness of different future technologies and applied on the case of future electrical energy supply concepts. The model is applied to compare a continuous energy supply system via a wide span system (WSS) with a discontinuous battery swapping system (BSS) on the example of tillage. The results show that on area sizes of more than 100 ha, a continuous energy supply for agricultural machinery with a WSS is competitive to a discontinuous BSS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Der Beitrag in der Zeitschrift „Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation.

The move away from fossil diesel fuel, the increasing demand for irrigation, and changes in the regulations on the use of fertilizers and pesticides make it necessary or offer the opportunity to systemically transform established agricultural processes. In this article, the wide span system is used to provide an infrastructure for continuous electric agricultural machinery, for irrigation and for the application of fertilizers and pesticides. A process simulation is used to calculate the additional energy requirements of the system. This is then compared with the energy demand of other energy supply and drive concepts based on renewable energy sources. When the system is aligned parallel to the main working direction of the agricultural machine, the additional electrical energy demand is less than 0.5 kWh/ha. An economic implementation of the wide span system as an agricultural production system remains to be investigated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

After the pandemic triggered last year by the SARS-CoV-2 virus also forced agricultural machinery manufacturers in the forage technology sectors to cut back and cancel production, the market situation has stabilized again in 2021. Last but not least, a rising milk price has ensured an increase in sales figures. The trend towards higher technical equipment in grassland technology is evident from a large number of new product launches. For example, a mower is being expanded to include an assistance system for automated animal recognition during forage harvesting. In the field of science and research, the focus is shifting to the interaction of machines with their environment and model-based yield estimation of grassland.

The Corona pandemic also faced agricultural machinery companies of forage technology with major challenges. After good business prospects at the beginning of the year, the increasing spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus led to restrictions and production stops. Nevertheless, the sales volumes declined only slightly and the companies presented a number of further and new developments. The agricultural machinery manufacturer Krone, for example, was expanding its product portfolio to include the “Highland“ series, under which implements for use in alpine conditions are marketed. In landscape maintenance, the trend towards remote-controlled mowers is continuing. In the field of science and research, work was presented on innovative straw management with the “Kombi-Mulcher“, as well as on efficiency during grassland mowing., Jahrbuch Agrartechnik 2020, vol. 32, 2020

Tvärvetenskapliga studier inom samhällsvetenskap ,Social Sciences Interdisciplinary - Abstract
The goal of this research is to see which challenges the individuals on the OEM’s side meet during asymmetrical collaborations and which approaches they use to overcome them. Literature was focused very much on the managerial view of solving challenges in these collaborations. This study shows that individuals could play a major role in resolving challenges that occur in asymmetrical collaborations. The profound effect of individuals could resemble that of individuals in other fields, e.g. champions in innovation. To gain insight, 34 interviews within an automotive OEM were performed with project leaders of collaborations that were done with start-ups. These interviews were investigated by coding. These codes were analyzed once via text mining to get an overarching view, and once with traditional coding to get more nuanced and detailed insights. Four major challenges were found. Mismatches in processes, lack of time and capacity, potentially unknown stakeholders, and the assessment of the start-up. These challenges were approached through a variety of measures by the interviewees. Coaching the start-up, designing a proof-of-project, using the personal network, effective communication, explaining and shielding of the start-up, and implementing new processes in the start-up. The role that is described by these tasks shall be called the ambassador role. Implementing this role in a company enables individuals to facilitate asymmetrical collaborations. However, it is suggested that there should also be an institution established that is aware of the best-practices and therefore able to educate new ambassadors. QC 20190430

The automotive industry is in a time of great environmental change. Due to new competitors and new technologies, the established OEMs are looking for ways to increase their exploration capability. One of the measures that are taken is the collaboration with start-ups. Within this study 13 interviews were performed and analyzed to see the effects of these collaborations. The objective was to see what challenges the employees of the OEM were facing and how they were acting during these collaborations with a focus on if these behaviors were entrepreneurial. Different challenges were found. Lack of organizational support, bureaucracy, hierarchy, and processes, the motivation of employees, as well as the experience at the company. Employees showed entrepreneurial behavior in two different ways during the collaborations. By being an ambassador for the start-up within the corporation and by adapting ways of working from the start-ups.
