This study examined the extent to which residential mobility in the first 15 years of life was cumulatively associated with high school truancy at age 15 and whether there were specific developmental periods during which residential mobility was more consequential. To address these aims, we used data drawn from 4,848 children and families who participated in the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study (now called the Future of Families and Child Wellbeing Study). Results from covariate-adjusted regression models provided some evidence that children who experienced more residential moves across the first 15 years engaged in more truant behavior at age 15 and that these associations diminished with each additional move. With that said, the associations between cumulative residential mobility and adolescent truancy were not robust to different analytic specifications and there was no evidence for timing-specific associations. Keywords: High school, Residential mobility, Truancy., Truant behavior is a multifaceted problem in high school with negative consequences for students' academic and social-emotional well-being (Virtanen et al., 2021). Estimates from across the U.S. reveal that approximately [...]

Astrophysics - Earth and Planetary Astrophysics - Abstract
The Kuiper Belt is a distant region of the Solar System. On 1 January 2019, the New Horizons spacecraft flew close to (486958) 2014 MU69, a Cold Classical Kuiper Belt Object, a class of objects that have never been heated by the Sun and are therefore well preserved since their formation. Here we describe initial results from these encounter observations. MU69 is a bi-lobed contact binary with a flattened shape, discrete geological units, and noticeable albedo heterogeneity. However, there is little surface color and compositional heterogeneity. No evidence for satellites, ring or dust structures, gas coma, or solar wind interactions was detected. By origin MU69 appears consistent with pebble cloud collapse followed by a low velocity merger of its two lobes., Comment: 43 pages, 8 figure

23. Effectiveness of a Parent-Child Home Numeracy Intervention on Urban Catholic School First Grade Students

- Abstract
Catholic social teaching affirms the primary role of parents in their children's education, as well as the importance of forging a positive home-school partnership. The purpose of this article is to provide empirical evidence for further cultivating a collaborative, home-school relationship aimed at improving the mathematics performance of Catholic school first grade students by training parents as providers of at-home numeracy support. The participants included 60 parents (29 Black; 2 Asian; 1 Latino; 26 White; and 2 other) from two urban, Catholic schools. Parents randomly assigned to the experimental group received numeracy training and materials and, then, implemented a 15-week home numeracy intervention. Results revealed that students in the treatment group (or those who received the parent-child home numeracy intervention) made large and statistically significant gains in their mathematics achievement, measured by a standardized test, as compared to the control group.

- Abstract
The objective of this study was to compare the effectiveness of a second tumor necrosis factor inhibitor (TNFi) versus a non‐TNFi biologic following discontinuation of a TNFi for patients with polyarticular‐course juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pJIA). Using the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance Registry, patients with pJIA who started receiving a second biologic following a first TNFi were identified. Patients were required to have no active uveitis on the index date and a visit six months after the index date. Outcome measures included Clinical Juvenile Arthritis Disease Activity Score with a maximum of 10 active joints (cJADAS10), cJADAS10 inactive disease (ID; ≤2.5) and cJADAS10 minimal disease activity (MiDA; ≤5). Multiple imputation was used to account for missing data. Adjusted odds ratios (aORs) were calculated using propensity score quintiles to compare outcomes at six months following second biologic initiation. There were 216 patients included, 84% initially received etanercept, and most patients stopped receiving it because of its ineffectiveness (74%). A total of 183 (85%) started receiving a second TNFi, and 33 (15%) started receiving a non‐TNFi. Adalimumab was the most common second biologic received (71% overall, 84% of second TNFi), and tocilizumab was the most common non‐TNFi second biologic received (9% overall, 58% of non‐TNFi). There was no difference between receiving TNFi versus non‐TNFi in cJADAS10 ID (29% vs 25%; aOR 1.23, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.47–3.20) or at least MiDA (43% vs 39%; aOR 1.11, 95% CI 0.47–2.62) at six months. Most patients with pJIA started receiving TNFi rather than non‐TNFi as their second biologic, and there were no differences in disease activity at six months.

The Pluto system was recently explored by NASA's New Horizons spacecraft, making closest approach on 14 July 2015. Pluto's surface displays diverse landforms, terrain ages, albedos, colors, and composition gradients. Evidence is found for a water-ice crust, geologically young surface units, surface ice convection, wind streaks, volatile transport, and glacial flow. Pluto's atmosphere is highly extended, with trace hydrocarbons, a global haze layer, and a surface pressure near 10 microbars. Pluto's diverse surface geology and long-term activity raise fundamental questions about how small planets remain active many billions of years after formation. Pluto's large moon Charon displays tectonics and evidence for a heterogeneous crustal composition, its north pole displays puzzling dark terrain. Small satellites Hydra and Nix have higher albedos than expected., Comment: 8 pages - Initial Science paper from NASA's New Horizons Pluto Encounter

- Abstract
Background: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a type of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which has demonstrated positive outcomes in individuals with chronic pain. The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of an 8‐week programme combining Exercise with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ExACT) with a standalone supervised exercise programme at 1‐year follow‐up. Methods: One hundred and seventy‐five people with chronic pain were randomly assigned to ExACT or supervised exercise only. The primary outcome was pain interference measured with the Brief Pain Inventory‐Interference Scale. Secondary and treatment process outcomes included pain severity, depression, anxiety, pain catastrophizing, pain self‐efficacy, fear avoidance, pain acceptance, committed action, healthcare utilization, patient satisfaction, and global impression of change. Estimates of treatment effects at 1‐year follow‐up were based on intention‐to‐treat analyses, implemented using a linear mixed‐effects model. Results: Eighty‐three participants (47.4%) returned the outcome measures at 1‐year follow‐up. No significant difference was observed between the groups for the primary outcome, pain interference. There was a statistically significant difference between the groups, in favour of ExACT for pain catastrophizing. Within group improvements that were observed within both groups at earlier timepoints were maintained at 1‐year follow‐up for many of the secondary and treatment process outcomes. ExACT group participants reported higher levels of satisfaction with treatment and global perceived change. Conclusions: The study results showed no significant difference between the two groups for the primary outcome pain interference at 1‐year follow‐up. Future research could investigate factors that may predict and optimize outcomes from these types of intervention for people living with chronic pain. Significance: Few previous randomized controlled trials investigating ACT for chronic pain have included long‐term follow‐up. This study found that Exercise combined with ACT was not superior to supervised exercise alone for reducing pain interference at 1‐year follow‐up. Further research is necessary to identify key processes of therapeutic change and to explore how interventions may be modified to enhance clinical outcomes for people with chronic pain.
