In Switzerland, psychomotor therapy (PMT) is a standard treatment for children withgraphomotor impairments, but scientific evidence of its effectiveness is rare. To investigate the effectiveness of PMT, we conducted a randomised field trial (RFT). The sample consisted of 121 first and second graders with graphomotor impairments, some of whom met the criteria of developmental coordination disorder, while the remaining suffered from developmental dysgraphia. The treatments lasted over 5 months. Handwriting fluency and consistency were measured five times on a digitising tablet. All participating children completed a self-concept interview, and a standardised fine motor performance test twice. Psychomotor therapy significantly improved the fine motor skills of the therapy group compared to those of the waiting group. However, there was no evidence that the treated children improved more than the waiting children in terms of their graphomotor skills such as frequency, automaticity, and consistency of forming letters. Finally, the children of the therapy group showed partial improvements in their handwriting self-concept, while those of the waiting group children remained stable. Living together in culturally plural societies poses numerous challenges for members of ethnocultural groups and for the larger society. An important goal of these societies is to achieve positive intercultural relations among all their peoples. Successful management of these relations depends on many factors including a research-based understanding of the historical, political, economic, religious and psychological features of the groups that are in contact. The core question is ‘how we shall we all live together?’ In the project reported in this paper (Mutual Intercultural Relations in Plural Societies; MIRIPS), we seek to provide such research by reviewing three core psychological hypotheses of intercultural relations (multiculturalism, contact and integration) in 21 culturally plural societies. The main goal of the project is to evaluate these hypotheses across societies within the MIRIPS project in order to identify if there are some basic psychological principles that underlie intercultural relations panculturally. If there are, the eventual goal is to employ the findings to propose some policies and programmes that may improve the quality of intercultural relationship globally. An internal meta-analysis using the MIRIPS project data showed that the empirical findings from these societies generally support the validity of the three hypotheses. Implications for the development of policies and programmes to enhance the quality of intercultural relations are discussed.

Die Bildungs- und Kulturdirektion des Kantons Uri (Amt für Volksschulen) beauftragte das Institut für Schule und Heterogenität (ISH) der Pädagogischen Hochschule Luzern (PH Luzern), eine wissenschaftliche Evaluation zur Umsetzung der Integrativen Förderung und der Integrativen Sonderschulung durchzuführen. Im Rahmen der Evaluation sollen der Umsetzungsgrad überprüft und die Erfahrungen der Beteiligten festgehalten werden. Beiträge zur Lehrerbildung 31 (2013) 2, S. 186-197, Die Diagnosefähigkeit von Lehrpersonen umfasst neben der Beurteilungsgüte vor allem die Fähigkeit, Diagnosen didaktisch adaptiv zu nutzen und lernfördernde Rückmeldungen daraus abzuleiten. Wie sich diagnostische Fähigkeiten bei angehenden Lehrpersonen und im Berufsalltag entwickeln, ist noch weitgehend unerforscht. Die vorliegende Längsschnittstudie mit PH-Studierenden untersucht die diagnostischen Fähigkeiten bezüglich formaler und inhaltlicher Aspekte im Fach Deutsch und diskutiert sie kritisch. Als Beurteilungsmaterial dienten videografierte Reportagen von Schülerinnen und Schülern sowie deren Vorbereitungsnotizen. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass die Studierenden im Laufe der Ausbildung lernen, den Lernstand von Schülerinnen und Schülern differenzierter zu erfassen, und es ihnen auch immer besser gelingt, adäquate Formen der Weiterarbeit zu entwerfen. Bei anderen inhaltlichen und formalen Aspekten, z.B. der Fähigkeit zur Beurteilung des Wortschatzes oder des Textaufbaus, konnten während des Studiums hingegen keine signifikanten Veränderungen nachgewiesen werden. Die Diskussion der Ergebnisse im Kontext der Lehrerinnen- und Lehrerausbildung und früherer Forschungsarbeiten hebt die Wichtigkeit einer empirischen Überprüfung von Ausbildungszielen wie beispielsweise Diagnosekompetenz hervor und fordert weitere, vertiefte Analysen., Apart from the general quality of a given assessment, diagnostic skills of teachers particularly include the ability to make use of diagnoses in an instructionally adaptive way and to derive feedback which promotes the pupils’ learning. However, it is still largely unexplored how diagnostic skills in pre-service teachers and in everyday teaching practice actually develop. The longitudinal study to be presented in this article investigates and critically discusses the diagnostic skills of teacher students from the University of Teacher Education Lucerne with respect to formal and content-related aspects in the subject German. Videoed school student reports and their preparatory notes served as assessment materials. The results show that students learn to assess the pupils’ learning progress in a more differentiated way, and that they increasingly succeed in designing adequate forms of further work in the course of their study. No significant changes could be found concerning other content-related and formal aspects, e.g. the ability to assess vocabulary or text structure. The discussion of the findings in the context of teacher education and previous research emphasizes the importance of an empirical examination of educational objectives such as diagnostic competence, and calls for further in-depth analyses.

Die Studie untersucht wie 70 Kindergartenkinder im Vergleich zu 71 Fünft und Sechstklässler über Situationen denken in welchen sich ein Protagonist für die Wahl eines behinderten oder nicht behinderten Kindes in seine Gruppe entscheiden musste. Die Situationen wurden nach Behinderungsform des behinderten Kindes (geistig behindert körperbehindert) und nach Gruppenaktivität (schulisch sozial sportlich) variiert. Die Kinder sollten die Wahl des Protagonisten vorhersagen und die Wahl begründen. Die älteren Kinder berücksichtigten in ihren Überlegungen stärker den situativen Kontext als die jüngeren Kinder. Allerdings erwarteten sie weniger häufig den Einschluss des geistig behinderten Kindes als den Einschluss des körperbehinderten Kindes. Die Ergebnisse der Studie werden vor dem Hintergrund von Forschung zur Entwicklung sozialen und moralischen Denkens über Ein und Ausschluss diskutiert.

Das Projekt Kita plus verfolgt das Ziel, Kinder mit besonderen Bedürfnissen unter eigens hierfür ausgearbeiteten Rahmenbedingungen in bestehende Kitas der Stadt Luzern zu integrieren. Kinder mit und ohne Behinderung sollen bereits im frühen Kindesalter von den vielfältigen Erfahrungen und der sozialen Teilhabe in einer bunt gemischten Kindergruppe profitieren können. Ausserdem wird erreicht, die Eltern durch wohnortnahe Betreuungsmöglichkeiten zu entlasten und die Vereinbarkeit von Familie und Beruf zu unterstützen. Aus politischer Sicht schliesst das Projekt die Lücke der Integration von Kindern mit Behinderung im Vorschulalter und ermöglicht die Umsetzung des Behindertengleichstellungsgesetzes sowie die geforderte Aufgabenteilung zwischen Bund und Kantonen bei sonderpädagogischen Angeboten. Eine Bedarfsanalyse brachte in Erfahrung, dass es in der Stadt Luzern ca. 20-25 Kinder resp. Familien gibt, die potenzielle Abnehmer des Kita plus-Angebots sind. Das Projekt Kita plus hat von 2012-2014 eine Pilotphase mit insgesamt 12 Kindern in 8 Kitas lanciert. Die Evaluation der Pilotphase ist Gegenstand dieses Berichts. Es wurde analysiert, wie es den Kita plus-Kindern in den Kitas geht und wie sie sich in sozialer Hinsicht entwickeln. Ausserdem interessierte, inwiefern die Rahmenbedingungen von den involvierten Akteuren als ausreichend undsinnvoll beurteilt werden. Ein weiterer Aspekt der Evaluation beinhaltet die Reaktionen der Eltern auf das Kita plus-Projekt. Daten zu den Kita plus-Kindern (n=7) wurden längsschnittlich, d.h. anhand dreier Messzeitpunkte durch Verhaltensbeobachtungen und Befragungen der Betreuungspersonen eingeholt. Ergänzend wurden Leitfadeninterviews mit den HeilpädagogischenFrüherzieherinnen, Kita-Leiterinnen und Eltern der Kita plus-Kinder durchgeführt. Die Perspektive der Eltern der nicht behinderten Kinder wurde schriftlich erfragt. Später ins Projekt eingetretene Kita plus-Kinder (n=5) wurden anhand eines Datenquerschnitts erfasst. Mit der Evaluation werden Entscheidungsgrundlagen für die Betriebsphase geschaffen. Schweizerische Zeitschrift für Bildungswissenschaften 35 (2013) 1, S. 13-19, Die Beiträge des vorliegenden Themenhefts der SZBW belegen das große Spektrum von konzeptionellen Überlegungen, empirischen Arbeiten und Beispielen von gelingenden Praktiken im Umgang mit Heterogenität. Es zeigt sich aber auch, wie anspruchsvoll es ist, die unterschiedlichen Analysemodelle, Kenntnisse, Schlussfolgerungen und Empfehlungen in den Diskurs um Heterogenität in Schule und Unterricht konstruktiv einzubinden. In diesem Zusammenhang ist u.a. zu klären, ob bzw. inwieweit sich der Umgang mit einer Differenzkategorie (und die entsprechende Haltung, Didaktik, Diagnostik etc.) tatsächlich auf andere übertragen lässt. Sind Differenzkategorien tatsächlich „untereinander gleich“ – oder in welchem Masse sind sie eben doch unterschiedlich? Und wie lässt sich vermeiden, dass sich in einer Welt der Vielfalt und der zunehmend knappen Ressourcen einzelne Kategorien der Differenz konkurrenzieren und somit zu einer neuen Hierarchisierung der Vielfalt führen? Diese und andere Fragen bleiben offen und erfordern weitere Anstrengungen, um mit empirischen und theoretischen Befunden, den differenzierten Umgang mit Heterogenität zu erhellen und voranzutreiben. For this purpose, the study analysed the acculturation orientations of 1106 5th graders and their class teachers in Switzerland. Using multiple regression analysis, we found that immigrant students were more satisfied at school if their teachers had similar attitudes about cultural assimilation and cultural diversity and could, thus, be said to have congruent acculturation orientations. With respect to students' academic self-concept, immigrant students with a minority orientation whose teachers value cultural diversity including the heritage culture of their students showed a lower academic self-concept despite matching acculturation orientations. We interpret this result as a dilemma of teachers between the endeavour to develop culturally sensitive attitudes and behaviours and the risk to create stereotype threat and its negative effects through addressing cultural differences.
