Aim: This study examined the psychosocial (psychological distress, job-specific wellbeing, burnout) health of a large sample of teachers in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, specifically the association between psychosocial health, work-related factors, and lifestyle behaviours. Subject & methods: An online survey collected lifestyle behaviours, work-related factors, and socio-demographics from primary and secondary school teachers in NSW from February to October 2021. Associations between work-related factors, lifestyle behaviours, and psychosocial health were modelled using logistic regression in R and adjusted for gender, age, and geographic location. Results: In our sample (n = 1136), 75% were women and 28% of the sample worked in rural or remote areas. Women reported higher levels of psychological distress (51%), compared with men (42%), and over 30% of teachers reported high levels of burnout. Teachers who engaged in three or more positive health-related behaviours had lower odds of psychological distress and burnout as well as higher odds of job-specific wellbeing. Multiple work-related factors such as hours worked, teaching load, teaching experience, teacher type, and teacher role were associated with one or more aspects of psychosocial health after adjusting for socio-demographic variables. Conclusion: More is needed to support the psychosocial health of teachers in NSW. Future lifestyle programs for this population should include psychosocial outcomes to further explore the relationship between teachers' health-related behaviour and their psychosocial health. - Abstract
This study aimed to compare the prevalence of burnout, missed nursing care, and intention-to-leave the job among nurses working in general care units and intensive care units (ICUs), and to analyse the risk factors for these outcomes between the two groups. This was a cross-sectional study involving online surveys of nurses at participating hospitals conducted between November 2020 and July 2021 as part of the Magnet4Europe initiative. A convenience sample was recruited, consisting of 67 acute care hospitals in 6 countries: Belgium, England, Germany, Ireland, Norway, and Sweden. In total, data for 1,150 ICU nurses and 5,145 general ward nurses (1,901 from surgical wards and 3,250 from medical wards) were analysed. The prevalence of burnout was significantly lower among nurses in ICUs (27.1 % vs. 30.3 %), missed care from care was significantly less frequent (65.5 % vs. 75.4 %), while intention-to-leave was similar (28.1 % vs. 29.2 %) compared with nurses in general wards. Nurses working in a better work environment and with lower workloads had statistically significant lower rates of burnout and intention-to-leave their job compared to those working in a poorer work environment and with higher workloads. Country-specific analysis showed a higher burnout rate and the intention-to-leave the job for nurses working in Germany, Ireland, Scandinavia, and the England compared to Belgium. ICU nurses did not have a higher risk of burnout and had significantly lower risks of missing care and intention-to-leave, compared to nurses in general wards. A better work environment and lower perceived workload were consistently associated with reduced risks for all outcomes studied. National policies should prioritize creating healthy work environments, reducing workloads, and addressing country-specific challenges to lower burnout rates, minimize missed care, and decrease the intention to leave the job among ICU and general ward nurses. Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of risk for Burnout Syndrome among health professionals in areas of care for patients with COVID-19, as well as to verify possible associations of the syndrome with the perceived social support and food insecurity of these workers. Methods: Analytical cross-sectional study, with workers from intensive care units (ICU) and wards caring for patients with COVID-19, in a university hospital. Data collection was carried out from September to October 2021, using the instruments: Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-HSS), Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale and Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES). Statistical analysis used Poisson regression models and multiple Poisson regression, considering statistically significant differences and associations if p<0.05. Results: A total of 75 workers from three wards (48%) and from one ICU (52%) participated in the survey, and the professionals are mostly female (89.3%), trained as health care technicians (66.7%). Regarding the risk of Burnout Syndrome, 26.7% of the workers had scores for at least one dimension of the scale, mainly referring to high emotional exhaustion (20%). There was a positive association between the risk of developing Burnout Syndrome and food insecurity (PR = 1.11; 95%CI = (1.04; 1.18); p = 0.002). The number of children was significantly negatively associated with the incidence of Burnout Syndrome (PR = 0.90; 95%CI = (0.83; 0.97); p = 0.008). Conclusion: Positive associations were observed with a higher risk of BS in professionals with food insecurity and also that the number of children acts as a protective factor against the risk of Burnout Syndrome, which may be directly related to perceived social support. - Abstract
Aim: The objectives of this study were to determine the prevalence of burnout risk and intention-to-leave among intensive care unit (ICU) nurses and analyse the association of these with workload and work environment., Design: A cross-sectional survey of nurses working in ICUs was conducted in France between 15 January 2024 and 15 April 2024 alongside a longitudinal assessment of workload during the same period., Methods: ICU nurse workload was assessed using the Nursing Activities Score (NAS). The risk of burnout was assessed using the Maslach Burnout Inventory scale and intention-to-leave the hospital was assessed with a binary question. A total of 1271 nurses working in 61 intensive care units completed the questionnaire and 14,134 NAS per patient and 1885 NAS per nurse were included in the study., Results: The median overall of burnout by hospital site was 64.7% [P25: 53.3-P75: 72.7] for the broad definition and a median of 20.7% [13.3-27.3] of ICU nurses reported an intent-to-leave their job. The median overall NAS score per nurse was 135.9% [121.4-156.9] and the prevalence of NAS scores exceeding 100% per nurse was 73.9% [62.8-80.3]. A significant association was found between nurses working in an ICU with a better work environment and all dimensions of burnout as well as the intention-to-leave the job. A prevalence in the hospital site of NAS scores exceeding 100% per nurse below the median was associated with a lower burnout (OR = 0.69, 95% CI: 0.50-0.88 for broad definition) and intention-to-leave the job (OR = 0.68, 95% CI: 0.50-0.92)., Conclusion: This study found significant associations between burnout and the intention to leave the job for nurses in ICUs, mainly due to a better work environment and, to a lesser extent, a lower workload for nurses., Implications for the Profession And/or Patient Care: In an era of nurse shortages and absenteeism, it is crucial for institutions to retain their nursing staff. Our results should encourage hospital managers to take action to improve the ICU work environment and keep ICU workloads manageable to decrease burnout and the intention-to-leave the job among ICU nurses., Reporting Method: This article follows the STROBE guidelines for the reporting of cross-sectional studies., Patient or Public Contribution: No patient or public contribution., (© 2025 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.)

Introduction: During surgical training, residents invest great efforts to achieve optimal performance. However, as a result of the highest demands and poor resources at work, they experience varying degrees of burnout, stress and poor well-being. The recovery strategies to work represent a promising area of development to modify these negative results. Our goal is to synthesize the available evidence. Methods: Based on the theoretical framework of positive organizational psychology, in this narrative review we synthesized the evidence from original studies published between 2010-2019, regarding to four recovery strategies: 1) psychological detachment from work, 2) relaxation, 3) control of free time, and 4) search for challenges outside of work. Results: A total of 18 studies were included. Most of the interventions are based on mindfulness as a relaxation strategy, but its effectiveness in reducing stress levels among surgery residents is poor. The literature is limited to conclude the effectiveness of the other groups of recovery strategies. Conclusion: Most strategies for work recovery in surgery residents are in an initial development. Its effectiveness is limited in reducing stress and professional burnout. These results offer opportunities for future research.

The burnout syndrome has traditionally been identified in the service sector professions, among which is Social Work. In order to determine this syndrome, different measuring instruments have emerged, including the Maslach Burnout Inventory. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of this instrument and to find evidence of its validity (corroborating the original factorial structure and its convergent validity) and reliability (internal consistency). The Spanish adapted version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory was used. Four hundred social workers participated, randomly divided into two samples of 200 individuals (Sample 1: M = 43.06, SD = 9.04 and Sample 2: M = 40.89, SD = 8.78). We carried out principal components exploratory factor analysis with Varimax rotation. The results identified a factorial structure with four factors (Emotional Exhaustion, Depersonalization, Personal Realization, and Interpersonal Psychological Stress) (χ2/df = 1.73, CFI = 0.929, NNFI = 0.859, SRMR = 0.069, RMSEA = 0.061), different from that of the original questionnaire, which indicated three dimensions. The data also show a high internal consistency (α = 0.882). The four factors were directly and moderately associated with each other (r between 0.328 and 0.534). In conclusion, this study provides new data of a valid and reliable tool for evaluating professional burnout or exhaustion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Burnout among health care workers may hamper the quality of care and effectiveness of health systems. Hence, we examined the prevalence of burnout in primary care teams, including community health workers; and investigated associations between individuals' characteristics, team and primary care center factors, and burnout. Methods: We carried out a cross-sectional study among primary care teams in the city of São Paulo, Brazil (n = 2940). We randomly selected 66 primary care centers. The Maslach burnout inventory was used to investigate burnout. We used multilevel modelling to examine the associations between individuals' characteristics, team and primary care center variables with burnout. Results: We addressed 351 primary care teams, with 11.4% of participants presenting severe burnout. The variance in burnout among primary care workers was partially explained by individuals' characteristics, and by team and primary care center factors. Severe burnout was associated with the following: (1) individuals' characteristics: being black, being younger, a higher length of employment in primary care, and presenting a lack of feedback from supervisors; (2) team factors: working in deprived areas and not receiving the support of a multidisciplinary team; and (3) primary care center factors: inadequate infrastructure (less than one office available per team), and having a bad/very bad relationship with the community council. Conclusions: To reduce burnout among primary care teams, stakeholders should: (1) train managers/supervisors on leadership styles that prioritize performance feedback, support, and communication skills; (2) allocate catchment areas to teams according to each community's vulnerability; (3) provide a multidisciplinary team to support primary care workers; and (4) offer suitable facilities and infra-structure. Introduction and purpose: There exist several factors affecting the academic performance of students some of which improve academic performance, whereas some factors exert adverse effects on education. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the relationship between obsessive-compulsive disorder and academic burnout among students of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences. Methods: The statistical population of this descriptive-analytical study included general medical students out of whom 285 students were selected as the research population by simple random sampling. Data collection instruments included Nolen-Hoeksema and Morrow Mental rumination questionnaire and Breso›s academic burnout questionnaire. Subsequently, the data were analyzed using the correlation method. Results: Based on the results of the current study, a positive and significant relationship was reported between rumination and burnout in both groups of girls and boys. The correlation coefficient between rumination and burnout in girls was measured at (r=0/335; sig=0/000) and (r=0/250; sig=0/012), respectively. Furthermore, this study revealed that rumination (F=3.339) and academic years (F=3/683) were found to be influential factors affecting academic burnout. However, the effect of rumination on academic burnout in terms of the academic year was not significant. Conclusion: The results indicated a positive and significant relationship between obsessive-compulsive disorder and academic burnout. Excessive stress, as well as long working hours and years of study, predisposes medical students to obsessive-compulsive disorder and in turn to academic burnout.

Objectives: Medical professionals are exposed to many job stressors everyday, which can lead to psychological disturbances as well as burnout syndrome. We sought to assess the level of burnout among primary care physicians (PCPs) in Oman and explore risk factors for its development. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional, analytical study among a random cluster sample of 190 PCP working in Muscat, Oman. Indices of burnout (emotional exhaustion (EE), depersonalization (DP) and personal accomplishment (PA)) were noted using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS). We also used a questionnaire to obtain sociodemographic and job characteristics data. We used a binary logistic regression model and both unadjusted and adjusted odds ratios for statistical analysis. Results: The prevalence of burnout in all three dimensions was 6.3%. High levels of MBI-HSS subscales were reported on EE, DP and PA with 17.8%, 38.2%, and 21.5%, respectively. Logistic regression analysis revealed that working over 40 hours per week was the most important risk factor for burnout among PCPs. Conclusions: A total of 6.3% of PCPs working in urban areas in Oman suffered burnout. Long working hours was strongly associated with high occupational burnout. Solutions to eliminate or decrease the rate of burnout involve institutional changes, primarily respecting weekly working hours, and in more severe cases psychotherapy help is very important.

Aim: To assess levels of burnout, including emotional exhaustion, personal accomplishment and depersonalization, in the daily work of academic doctors in the Orthopedic Surgery Service and Central Surgery Service of the Hospital Hernán Henríquez Aravena (HHHA) and Surgery Department in the Universidad de La Frontera, Temuco, Chile. Materials and Method: Cross-sectional study. 48 subjects participated: 10 residents in orthopedic surgery, 8 residents in anesthesiology, 12 academic anesthesiologists and 18 academic orthopedic surgeons. Instruments applied under informed consent: Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Analysis: Measures of central tendency and percentage, independent sample t-tests. Cronbach’s alpha coefficients of the MBI. Results: The overall prevalence of burnout syndrome is 97%, whereas by dimensions, emotional exhaustion showed a prevalence of 100%, low personal accomplishment at work 100% and depersonalization 91.6%. For orthopedic surgery by dimensions: emotional exhaustion showed a prevalence of 100%, low personal accomplishment at work 100% and depersonalization 82%. For anesthesiology: emotional exhaustion showed a prevalence of 75%, low personal accomplishment at work 30% and depersonalization 30%. Only gender and hours of sleep showed significant differences in emotional exhaustion, with higher scores for women and those who slept less than 7 hours. 0.7 Cronbach’s alpha of the MBI. Conclusion: There is excessive emotional fatigue, low job felt accomplishment and depersonalization in orthopedic surgery residents and academic. In anesthesiology, emotional high exhaustion coexists with low personal accomplishment values and depersonalization high. In Chile, protection policies are mainly focused on Occupational Safety and Health with risk management, but there are no stress protection and mental health policies involving containment and support for the therapeutic work of medical professionals. Introduction: The contact which occurs between a medical professional and a patient involves the occurrence of phenomena concerning the control of emotions, called emotional labour. The aim of the paper was to review specialist literature relating to emotional labour present in medical occupations. Material and method: With the use of EBSCO, Medline, ScienceDirect, Ovid MEDLINE databases and the PubMed search engine, relevant English-language full text articles published in 2010– 2017 were selected. Results: Sixty-two articles were selected that complied with the assumed criteria for the description of the issue. The articles concerned four thematic groups: emotional labour occurrence in various medical professions, the intrapersonal aspects of emotional labour, the interpersonal and organisational aspects of emotional labour and the negative consequences of emotional labour. Conclusions: The number of review and source articles confirming the presence of emotional labour in medical professions is growing year by year. In the health care system, emotional labour is still not a widely acknowledged phenomenon, with hardly any specialist training courses aimed at employees, and few organisational changes that would favour constructive methods of copying with the negative consequences of emotional labour.

- Abstract
The present study aimed to portray national evidence scientific regarding the burden of caregivers in a Long-Term Care Facility for the Elderly (LTCF). It is a descriptive study through the bibliographic survey of searches in the databases LILACS, SciELO and MEDLINE, the sample consisted of 9 articles. Aging can be accompanied by senility, which in the absence of close family members, elderly people who live alone, abandoned and/ or do not have the physical or mental conditions to manage their daily lives or guarantee their livelihood can lead to demand from the institution. In this context, the role of the caregiver emerges as a professional who performs monitoring and assistance functions exclusively for the elderly. Caregiver responsibilities can relate to a variety of responses associated with stress. It is important to emphasize the need for support to the caregiver to avoid health complications at work, such as the Burnout Syndrome. Therefore, strategies such as health education can be used to deal with the daily issues of the elderly. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Emergency call-takers and dispatchers' (ECDs) work makes them vulnerable to occupational burnout and health problems. The aim of this research was to apply a Person-Oriented approach in order to examine the relationships between burnout risk factors (having children), personal resources (being married), and health consequences (overweight and obesity) among men working in these positions. The burnout syndrome was assessed among 228 Polish ECDs using The Link Burnout Questionnaire and the method of latent profile analysis (LPA). All ECDs were characterized by high levels of occupational burnout exhibited in 3 out of its 4 dimensions. The LPA allowed us to differentiate 4 patterns of burnout, taking into account socio-demographic variables, the length of employment as ECD and body weight. The need to balance the demands of professional work with having children and marital roles played an important role in predicting the level of professional burnout. There was a relationship between the dimensions of occupational burnout and age, being married, and having children. Being married was associated with a greater intensity of emotional exhaustion, and the level of exhaustion was higher if the employee had children in their care. Health consequences in the form of overweight and obesity can be associated with levels of emotional exhaustion and professional effectiveness. The application of the Person-Oriented approach presents hidden correlations between burnout predictors and health consequences., Competing Interests: Declaration of Conflicting InterestsThe author(s) declared no potential conflicts of interest with respect to the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.

Introduction: The evaluation of Burnout syndrome among nursing professionals becomes fundamental given its influence on the outcomes for patients, professionals and institutions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence of Burnout among nursing professionals in three public hospitals. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 452 nursing professionals from the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. A personal and professional information form and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (Human Services Survey) were used. Results: Most participants showed low levels of emotional exhaustion (38.94%), depersonalization (45.80%) and reduced personal accomplishment (39.16%). The variables age (p = 0.010), hospital (p < 0.001), professional bond type (p < 0.001), time spent in hospital (p = 0.010) and in the department (p = 0.017) were related to emotional exhaustion. Gender (p = 0.013) and time spent in hospital (p =0,007) and the department (p = 0,020) were related to depersonalization. Personal accomplishment was better among professionals working on a certified hospital (p<0.001), during the day shift (p = 0.049), who had a fixed position (p<0.001) and who were older (p = 0.023). Discussion: Emotional exhaustion was characterized as fundamental for Burnout to arise among nursing professionals and depersonalization frequently coincide with emotional exhaustion. The exact definition of the participation of each individual in the outcome of care is difficult to delimit as it might influence the perception of professionals regarding personal accomplishment in work. Conclusions: Personal and professional characteristics were associated with Burnout among nursing professionals. It is important to promote actions that can reduce the incidence of Burnout among nursing professionals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: to evaluate the influence of burnout and coping strategies used by health professionals of the hospital emergency service on their mental health status and to determine sociodemographic and labor characteristics. Method: descriptive cross-sectional study in a sample of 235 nursing professionals and physicians who worked in four hospital emergency services. The Maslach Burnout Inventory, the General Health Questionnaire and the Inventario Breve de Afrontamiento-cope 28 were used as data collection instruments and specific and original questionnaires of sociodemographic and labor variables. Descriptive, quantitative and multivariate statistics were applied. Results: the dimension of depersonalization, avoidance-centered coping and being a physician were related to the presence of somatic symptoms, anxiety, social dysfunction and depression. Increased professional experience was associated with greater social dysfunction among health personnel and increased number of patients was related to depressive symptoms among health professionals. Conclusions: the dimensions of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, avoidance-centered coping, being a physician and a daily smoker increase the risk of a psychiatric case. The practice of daily physical exercise is a protective factor. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background. Burnout syndrome is closely related to career-related issues. Objectives. The purpose of this study was to determine work-related behaviors presented by physicians, nurses and paramedics with regard to their sociodemographic data and social competence. Material and methods. The study was conducted in 2015-2016 and involved 432 medical workers, including 144 (33.5%) physicians, 165 (37.7%) nurses and 123 (28.8%) paramedics. The median age was 28 years (range: 20-66). The research instruments were: the Work-Related Behavior and Experience Pattern (AVEM) questionnaire, the Social Competence Questionnaire (SCQ) by Anna Matczak and a self-developed questionnaire. Results. Symptoms of burnout syndrome (Type B) were observed in one-fourth of medical workers. 31.8% (135) of all participants presented Type G. The behavior types prevailing in particular groups were as follows: paramedics - Type G and Type S; physicians - Risk Type A and Type B, nurses - Type B and Type G. 62.4% (189) of the participants had an average level of general competence (4-7 sten), and 15.8% (48) had a low level of general competence (1-3 sten). The general competence level correlated with Type G (r = 0.17; p = 0.05). Conclusions. Burnout syndrome (Type B) occurs in physicians, nurses and paramedics regardless of their place of work and is related to a low level of social competence. A high level of social competence protects physicians, nurses and paramedics against job burnout. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Occupational stress is considered a risk factor for diabetes mellitus. Bank workers are constantly exposed to stress, which could alter their glycemic and lipemic levels. Objective: The objective of this work was to analyze alterations in glycemia levels and associate them to occupational stress in bank employees. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive and analytic research. The study evaluated capillary fasting glycemia, gauged blood pressure, weight, height, and waist circumference measurements; calculated the body mass index; application Results: The study included 16 volunteers, 12 men, with a mean age of 34.92 ± 3.14 years and 4 women, 30.25 ± 2.63 years. Among the men, 91.60% had altered fasting glycemia (115.71±2.01 mg/dl); 41.60% were overweight (28.04±0.26 kg/m²); and 16.88% were obese (32.35±0.65 kg/m²). Reportedly, 58.33% of the men had stress, with 85.71% of these men in the resistance phase and 14.28% in the exhaustion phase. Among the women, 75% had altered fasting glycemia (126.44±5.49 mg/dl); 25% were overweight (26.93±0.13kg/m²); and 25% were obese (32.30 kg/m²). The stress assessment revealed that 75% of the women were under stress, all in the resistance phase. Discussion: Interventions are needed in the workplace that propitiates an illness process. Conclusions: Bank workers at some stage of stress had altered glycemic levels, signaling a possible cortisol action in their daily routine. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: This present aimed to discuss the impacts of suffering at work on workers' health. For this, the following specific objectives were established: a) to characterize the work context; b) identify the factors that, in the workers' perception, imply in the genesis of pleasure and suffering at work and c) describe the strategies for coping with suffering. Methodology: This is a qualitative, analytical research, carried out with fifteen workers from a beverage industry located in a capital in northeastern Brazil, using thematic analysis and relying on dialectical hermeneutics. Results: The results indicated that workers experience pleasure and suffering at work, with suffering being the most present experience. There is a conscious confrontation of suffering, explained through defensive strategies and subjective mobilization that mobilize and transform some aspects of work, but which have not yet managed to change the work context. Final Considerations: The narratives supported by vulnerable employees are that the company is good for family members, as it has benefits that guarantee social and family security, but it is not evaluated as good for the worker, due to the pressure and psychological strain suffered during a day of work. And, despite recognizing the physical and psychological impacts related to work, the fear of retaliation, insecurity about professional secrecy and the low credibility of the tele-psychological care provided by the company, are the main impasses in terms of psychological assistance.

Objectives: To describe the prevalence of burnout syndrome according to medical specialty and to examine the impact of work psychosocial risk factors, job satisfaction and professional characteristics on burnout syndrome among specialist physicians throughout Spain. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was carried out among 1,021 Spanish physicians. The outcome variables were the 3 dimensions of burnout syndrome: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment. The explanatory variables were work psychosocial risk factors and job satisfaction evaluated by a stress scale specifically designed for physicians. Adjusted odds ratios and their 95% confidence intervals were calculated by logistic regression. Results: The probability of high emotional exhaustion and depersonalization were greater in physicians exposed to a high level of contact with suffering and death and to a negative impact of work on home life. The probability of high emotional exhaustion was greater among physicians with a high work overload. The risk of low personal accomplishment was higher among physicians with low professional satisfaction and those without training activities. Dissatisfaction with relationships with patients and relatives had a negative effect on the 3 dimensions of burnout. Conclusions: Psychosocial work environment and job satisfaction have a negative effect on burnout syndrome, especially on emotional exhaustion and depersonalization.

- Abstract
Background: Work can be considered a source of living, well-being, and socioeconomic development. When the work environment negatively influences individuals, it may trigger emotional disturbances, behavioral problems, chronic stress conditions, and illnesses such as burnout syndrome (BS). Recently, studies on BS have increased and placed a special focus on health care professionals. The prevalence of BS among health professionals is associated with their chronic exposure to human hardship and long working hours without proper rest. These factors have contributed to greater stress and high physical and emotional exhaustion levels., Objective: This study aims to identify and map studies using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) scale to identify burnout syndrome in health professionals working in public health services., Methods: This scoping review was developed based on the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Reviewers Manual and reported according to the PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews). A total of 6 databases were searched to identify relevant studies: Embase, LILACS, MEDLINE or PubMed, PsycInfo, Scopus, and Web of Science. Gray literature was consulted on ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global, Google Scholar, Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, and Open Access Theses and Dissertations. Additionally, the reference lists were searched to retrieve studies not previously selected. The steps followed in this study were proposed by Arskey and O'Malley and Levac, Colquhoun, and O'Brien: identification of research questions, identification of potential studies, study selection, data extraction and imputation, data analyses and interpretation, and consultation with stakeholders. The detailed methodology was published in a protocol., Results: A total of 55 articles were identified after screening for eligibility criteria, published between 1999 and 2021 in 32 countries. Most reports were published in Brazil, Spain, and China. A total of 22 versions of the MBI were identified, presenting different items, scores, and cutoff points. The included studies had recommendations and implications for clinical practice. The consultation with stakeholders allowed knowledge translation for those interested in BS., Conclusions: Studies mostly included physicians (34/55, 61.8%) and nurses (24/55, 43.6%), and the original version of MBI was predominantly used. Divergences in BS classification were highlighted, which may be related to MBI cross-cultural adaptations and applications in other countries. This study contributes to the advancement of research regarding burnout syndrome as an occupational illness since it has harmful consequences for workers, health care services, and the quality of care provided to the population., (©Juliana Pontes Soares, Rayssa Horácio Lopes, Paula Beatriz de Souza Mendonça, Cícera Renata Diniz Vieira Silva, Cláudia Cristiane Filgueira Martins Rodrigues, Janete Lima de Castro. The objective is to reflect based on a national and international scientific review on the magnitude of Burnout Syndrome in nurses working in the Intensive Care Unit in the context of the Coronavirus 2019 Disease pandemic (COVID-19). This is an integrative literature review, based on a search for complete articles published in the following databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, Online Scientific Electronic Library, Nursing Databases and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrievel System Online, published between 2019 and 2021. The results were included in ten publications in the final study sample. There was a tendency for nurses to progress with Burnout Syndrome during a pandemic, such as COVID-19; at first, the onset or increase of symptoms appears on a daily basis, culminating in a severe state of physical and emotional exhaustion that leads to the emergence and advancement of the syndrome over time. We can say that in relation to the magnitude of Burnout Syndrome in nurses working in the Intensive Care Unit in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, such superior professionals are higher in Burnout Syndrome when compared to other sectors.
