The article argues that it is expedient to change the approach to the perception of business processes, their analysis and optimization in the context of widespread implementation of information technologies at enterprises. First of all, this requires the use of modelling methods as one of the areas of business process management and can be implemented in the relevant software. Such business process modelling is the process of reflecting a subjective vision of the workflow in the form of a formal model consisting of interdependent operations. Based on a comparison of the features and mechanisms for implementing methods of graphical modelling business processes, the author grouped them, which allowed us to identify, in our opinion, the most modern solutions for modelling business processes, namely, the BPMN and ARIS methods. In particular, the BPMN method is considered to be special in its visual representation of business processes, i.e., it effectively reflects processes at various enterprises using specific symbols and notations that correspond to the complexities of modern business activities. The BPMN graphical style simplifies complex relationships, making it easier to understand processes. For its part, the ARIS method is associated with graphical modeling, performance analysis, integration into other systems, document standardization, change management, and the ability to automate business tasks. Particular attention is paid to the issue of designing visual models of business processes in a more convenient digital format with the help of service designers, which is possible through the use of powerful digital platforms. It is noted that the choice of a particular graphical platform depends on several key factors, including the scale of the enterprise, the level of integration with other systems, the availability of training and support, and the complexity of the processes being modelled. Thus, large enterprises are offered powerful tools (platforms) for managing large projects, including opportunities for collaboration, versioning, and support for complex business processes, while small and medium-sized enterprises are offered simpler solutions with high flexibility and quick implementation. It was found that most of the considered digital platforms for modelling business processes of enterprises support the BPMN method. Given the fact that ARIS graphical tools can be presented in the form of workflow diagrams (BPMN), many of the digital platforms can be easily adapted to use the ARIS method, although in direct use ARIS is used on the Creately and ARIS (IDS Scheer) platforms. Thus, the choice of methods and platforms for modelling business processes of enterprises and their use in the context of digitalization has its own characteristics, which is mainly due to the tasks to be achieved.

This research aims to explore the meaning of Islamic accounting courses for students. This qualitative research uses an interpretive paradigm and a transcendental phenomenological approach. The data source uses primary data with observation and interview data collection techniques, where the research informants are 20 students who have programmed Islamic accounting courses in the Islamic accounting study program at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. Before data analysis is carried out, a data validity test consists of credibility, dependability and confirmability tests. This research shows that learning Islamic accounting courses must focus on developing student competencies, optimizing business processes, and developing Islamic accounting applications. This research can contribute to developing academic literature on Islamic accounting by expanding understanding of the effectiveness of learning models on students' understanding of Islamic accounting courses. This research can contribute to universities improving and enhancing Islamic accounting learning models, making them more relevant and valuable for students in the world of work.

The object of this research is the impact of the crisis caused by military actions in Ukraine on the restaurant business. The study aims to examine the adaptation strategies that restaurants use for survival and development in the face of sudden economic changes and increasing uncertainty. The problems addressed in the study include responding to the loss of customers, rising food prices, decreasing cash flows, and a shortage of qualified workers. The main findings of the study showed that restaurants that successfully adapt implement comprehensive changes: from digitalizing ordering and delivery processes to revising menus and optimizing resource use. These steps not only reduce costs but also improve operational efficiency, which is crucial for maintaining customer loyalty and attracting new customers. Specifically, restaurants that invested in digitalization (e. g., electronic menus, online ordering, and inventory management systems) reported a 30–40 % increase in sales compared to those that did not implement such changes. Restaurants that implemented strategies for staff retention and cost optimization reduced staff turnover by 25 % and increased productivity by 20 %. The results are explained by the implementation of innovative approaches and strategic rethinking of business models, which allow quick responses to changing market conditions and consumer needs. Effective use of digital technologies and optimization of internal processes have become key success factors. The data obtained have significant theoretical and practical value, as they can be used to develop recommendations aimed at improving the resilience and adaptability of the hospitality industry in crisis conditions. These results help understand how managers can use strategic planning to optimize business processes and ensure enterprise stability. The importance of the research is also highlighted by identifying future research directions that can help the restaurant business more effectively adapt to changing market conditions and global crises. Proses pengambilan keputusan yang cepat dan tepat merupakan kebutuhan utama dalam lingkungan bisnis yang dinamis. Namun, banyak perusahaan freight forwarder menghadapi permasalahan dalam efisiensi pengambilan keputusan karena ketidaksempurnaan proses pengolahan data di dalam data warehouse. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan proses Data Warehouse (DWH) guna meningkatkan produktivitas dalam pengambilan keputusan di perusahaan freight forwarder di Indonesia. Dalam konteks lingkungan bisnis yang semakin kompleks dan dinamis, kebutuhan akan informasi yang tepat waktu dan akurat sangat penting untuk mendukung pengambilan keputusan yang efektif. DWH telah menjadi solusi populer untuk mengintegrasikan dan menganalisis data dari berbagai sumber guna mendukung proses pengambilan keputusan. Business Process Optimization (BPO) diterapkan untuk menganalisis dan merancang ulang proses bisnis yang terkait dengan pengolahan data, sehingga meningkatkan efisiensi dan akurasi pengolahan data dalam DWH. Dalam penelitian ini, digunakan model optimasi yang dirancang untuk memaksimalkan efisiensi proses ETL dan meningkatkan kinerja sistem Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) serta Online Transaction Processing (OLTP). Metode-metode ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas dan kecepatan pengambilan keputusan, serta efisiensi operasional perusahaan freight forwarder. Hasil dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan produktivitas dan daya saing bagi perusahaan di industri logistik.

With the continuous development of communication technology and the accelerated arrival of enterprise digitization, the telecom business support system is also evolving and changing. In order to realize the goal of high-quality, high-efficiency and sustainable evolution, telecom operators need to establish an effective and adaptive to the market demand of business support system hierarchical evolution target system. Based on the analysis of the basic characteristics of the current telecom business support system and the demand of operation services, a framework of L-PS-M (level-process-system-measurement) hierarchical evolution target system for telecom operation service support was proposed. The framework firstly constructed a three-dimensional cube mapping structure formed by the three dimensional factors of end-to-end business process, system support capability, and hierarchical goal. Secondly, a subdivided implementation path of the operation service support system was given. Thirdly, telecom carriers could carry out the planning and optimization of the system support capability according to the actual demand in a targeted way through the implementation path, so as to improve the efficiency of the operation and system production, and further clarified the evolution of the business support system, which was applicable to telecom operations. It further clarified the evolution direction of the business support system.

The aim of the article is to analyze the impact of information technology on the efficiency of business processes in modern marketing. A business process optimization helps an enterprise increase its competitiveness by reducing the time from product development to market launch and reducing production and promotion costs. This helps to enhance the efficiency of marketing strategies and increase the profitability of the enterprise. Optimization of business processes in marketing, in particular through the use of process management, is an important element of the company’s strategy for achieving success and ensuring competitiveness in the market. Information technology plays a key role in today’s progress. Under modern business conditions, information technology becomes a powerful tool for increasing the competitiveness of an enterprise, becomes a necessary component of its management system, an important element of its international activity. The rapid progress of information technologies requires increased attention to the processes of their implementation and use. Ignoring current digital trends can lead to business degradation. By analyzing different types of information technology, such as customer relationship management systems, marketing process automation, analytics systems, internet marketing and mobile technologies, social media instruments, data analytics and machine learning platforms, the article explores how these tools contribute to improving productivity and achieving the strategic goals of enterprise marketing departments. The given examples of specific programs and platforms, their advantages and disadvantages, plus a detailed analysis illustrate the importance of using information technology for the successful implementation of marketing strategies and ensuring the competitiveness of enterprises in the modern business environment. Information technology plays a crucial role in the progress of modern marketing, assisting businesses in improving the efficiency of their business processes and ensuring a high level of competitiveness.

The coronavirus outbreak was declared a pandemic in 2019, a once‐in‐a‐lifetime event that tested the limits of humanity. The number 2019 is a memorable year that the entire humanity will hardly forget as the world had fitted against this virus. The pandemic has so far changed the habits of people all over the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) has defined a list of barrier measures that have been implemented and are still effective in several countries. Among these measures, social distancing remains the most important. It requires people to avoid physical contact and not to exchange possessions. However, during road checks in Cameroon, police officers usually check passengers by asking them to show their national identity card. After receiving the ID card, a police officer checks the information on the card and returns it to the holder at the end of the check. This process goes beyond the new regulation and contributes to the spread of the Covid'19 virus. This paper considers this issue as an engineering problem and proposes a new approach based on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to carry out the road traffic control activities. An automatic control system is proposed. It has two main functionalities namely the positioning subsystem and the Data collection subsystem. The positioning subsystem allows the road traffic controller in defining the right position where he/she should stand to collect information from passengers while the data collection subsystem collects data from the ID card presented by each passenger in the car. This approach was tested at police checkpoints on the Douala‐Yaoundé road in Cameroon and the results showed a reduction in COVID‐19 cases related to document handling between police and passengers/drivers. The detection, quantification, and scrutiny of redundancies within business processes is pivotal in achieving cost reduction, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring compliance. Redundancies, often leading to inefficiencies, result in escalated costs and errors, thereby detrimentally influencing an organization's overall performance. To counter these issues, data mining and process mining techniques offer promising solutions by identifying and analyzing process redundancies. Data mining, an approach devoted to the analysis of large datasets in order to discern patterns, relationships, and anomalies, has been applied to business processes. It provides insights into redundancies by scrutinizing process-related data, such as event logs, thereby revealing patterns in task executions that may indicate redundancies. In contrast, process mining employs event logs to generate a process model mirroring the actual execution of a process. This actual process model is subsequently contrasted against an expected process model, facilitating the identification of redundancies such as unnecessary activities or loops. Cluster analysis, a technique employed in both data mining and process mining, is exemplified for its capacity to group similar process instances or models based on specified attributes or characteristics. The application of cluster analysis aids in the identification of redundant process models or similar process patterns, thereby enabling further comparison and optimization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Business process re-engineering (or optimization) has been attracting a lot of interest, and it is considered as a core element of business process management (BPM). One of its most effective mechanisms is task re-sequencing with a view to decreasing process duration and costs, whereas duration (aka cycle time) can be reduced using task parallelism as well. In this work, we propose a novel combination of these two mechanisms, which is resource allocation-aware. Starting from a solution where a given resource allocation in business processes can drive optimizations in an underlying BPMN diagram, our proposal considers resource allocation and model modifications in a combined manner, where an initially suboptimal resource allocation can lead to better overall process executions. More specifically, the main contribution is twofold: (i) to present a proposal that leverages a variant of representation of processes as Refined Process Structure Trees (RPSTs) with a view to enabling novel resource allocation-driven task re-ordering and parallelisation in a principled manner, and (ii) to introduce a resource allocation paradigm that assigns tasks to resources taking into account the re-sequencing opportunities that can arise. The results show that we can yield improvements in a very high proportion of our experimental cases, while these improvements can reach a 45% decrease in cycle time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper exemplifies a theoretical and methodological evaluation of IT Initiatives. It discusses post-implementation modifications (ERP-PIM) to enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for the purpose of business process optimization (BPO) from a Context-Initiative-Mechanism-Outcome (CIMO) perspective. CIMO suggests that context and mechanisms are factors triggering causal effects responsible for outcomes derived from technology initiatives. Through conceptualization, data collection/analysis, and retroduction, the paper proposes a middle-range theory to facilitate the explanation of outcomes from diverse post-implementation initiatives. Data from multiple case study identifies situational and action-formation mechanisms, and actions as essential to realizing the desired outcomes. The proposed ERP-PIM-CIMO theory encapsulates: (i) Business Process Optimization (BPO) as context, (ii) ERP-PIM as structure, (iii) Business Process Efficiency, Effectiveness, and Flexibility as observable events, (iv) ERP capability as causal mechanism, (v) actions as necessary for the actualization of mechanism, and finally (vi) effort and cost, knowledge, and training as factors influencing actualization. Efficient allocation of resources to activities is pivotal in executing business processes but remains challenging. While resource allocation methodologies are well-established in domains like manufacturing, their application within business process management remains limited. Existing methods often do not scale well to large processes with numerous activities or optimize across multiple cases. This paper aims to address this gap by proposing two learning-based methods for resource allocation in business processes to minimize the average cycle time of cases. The first method leverages Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) to learn policies by allocating resources to activities. The second method is a score-based value function approximation approach, which learns the weights of a set of curated features to prioritize resource assignments. We evaluated the proposed approaches on six distinct business processes with archetypal process flows, referred to as scenarios, and three realistically sized business processes, referred to as composite business processes, which are a combination of the scenarios. We benchmarked our methods against traditional heuristics and existing resource allocation methods. The results show that our methods learn adaptive resource allocation policies that outperform or are competitive with the benchmarks in five out of six scenarios. The DRL approach outperforms all benchmarks in all three composite business processes and finds a policy that is, on average, 12.7% better than the best-performing benchmark. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The execution of a business process usually involves the cooperation of many resources (actors) performing various tasks (activities). Generally speaking, the cooperation among actors could significantly influence the efficiency of process execution. The better cooperation among actors, the higher performance the process instance would achieve. The task allocation is, therefore, expected to ensure that the actors are compatible well with each other when performing tasks. However, the decision of task allocation is always ad-hoc or performed manually in many organizations. As for some automatic methods, they usually serve only for sequentially structured simple processes. In addition, the existing studies only concentrate on the cooperation between two actors and fail to consider the effects from the context of performing different tasks by these two actors especially in the business process with many-to-many relationships among the resources and activities. To address these issues, we handle the process with complex block structures including iteration, choice and parallelism, and propose an effective entity-wise method to measure the cooperation by combining both actors and activities together. Based on them, we present two approaches, one greedy-based and the other A*-based, to assign actors for maximum cooperation in the complex structured business process with many-to-many relationships among the resources and activities. Russian companies are actively involved in the digital transformation. The key technologies and potential effects are defined, a lot of pilots and prototypes are successfully launched. The next logical step is to scale the concept from the level of individual processes to the level of assets, functions, holding companies and the whole enterprise. In the article, two main approaches to the formation of a strategic digital transformation programs are analyzed: an approach based on scaling of digital tools and an approach based on complex processes transformation. Both these approaches are aimed at increasing the level of digital maturity.

The key stage of the company's transition to Industry 4.0. It is the Digital factory development stage. The first part of the article discusses in detail the components of digital factories, the expected effects of digitalization of production and related functions, as well as the transition from strategic initiatives to the operational level – the level of business processes that are transformed under the influence of new technologies. The second part of the article describes the methodology of case studies of Russian and foreign companies that are at the forefront of changes. The third part presents the cases of manufacturing companies that have achieved significant results in the field of digital transformation, in particular, Siemens, SIBUR and Novolipetsk metallurgical combine.

The aim of this paper is to show how a service company, whose main activity is transport and storage, finds the bottlenecks in the work, and after that creates changes whose realization takes place through the optimization process. The subjects of the research in this paper are software solution for transport and storage that is not yet presented enough in the competing companies on the North Macedonian market. For this purpose, the work of one of the companies is represented, which is a user of the services regarding the transport company and benefits emanated by implementing such a software. Optimization of transport (transport routes) and storage are areas with strong potential for improvement. The operators in this sector are facing the so-called problem of “empty miles’’. The article describes the main problems constraining labor productivity growth in Russian economy including its technological backwardness, limitation of information technologies usage, imbalances in the structure, inefficiency of personnel labor organization and lack of their skills at workplaces. It has been sshown that the increase in labor productivity in all sectors of the Russian economy will be the basis for sustainable economic growth. Moreover, the ways of labor productivity improvement, as an interaction between government and business are suggested.

This qualitative multiple case study explores the influence of blockchain technology on the chief financial officer (CFO) of an industrial company. Due to the advancing digitalization of business sectors and increasing competitive pressures, industrial companies are forced to promote their own digital transformation to sustain on the market. Here, the literature regards the CFO as a key corporate function to induce digitization initiatives within organizations. The blockchain technology, due to its features of transparency, immutability and cryptography combined with its ability to coordinate data flows of e.g., the Internet of Things (IoT) or Artificial Intelligence (AI), constitutes a suitable instrument for the CFO to meet the requirements of Industry 4.0. This paper provides a contribution to address existing research gaps regarding the application side of blockchain technology. Thus, the objective of this work is to provide corporate financial functions, such as the CFO of an industrial company, with an understanding of the extent to which blockchain technology can be used for the role-specific responsibilities. Therefore, the underlying qualitative study explores the influence of blockchain technology on the CFO-function of an industrial company. Thus, intending to address a research gap on the application side, it asks (1) What is the impact of blockchain technology on the financial as well strategic role of the CFO? (2) What is the impact of blockchain technology in convergence with the Machine Economy on the key performance indicators (KPIs) of the CFO? (3) What is the impact of blockchain-enabled integrated business ecosystems on the role of the CFO? Based on a review of literature, semi-structured expert interviews were conducted with 23 participants. Analysis of the responses demonstrated a considerable impact of blockchain technology on the CFO-function. The results indicate improvements of business processes in regard to efficiency and automation, a relocation of the CFO’s strategic role, improvements of CFO-relevant KPIs through integrating machines into payment networks as well as the emergence of integrated business ecosystems facilitating new forms of inter-organizational collaboration. Necessary prerequisites for adoption include digital competences of the CFO, appropriate organizational structures, digital currencies and identities on the blockchain, a change of the competitive mindset as well as standardized platforms with a neutral governance.

This paper elaborates the problem of optimization of business processes as one of the pillars of the quality house in a bread and bakery company. The paper designs and implements the methodology for analyzing the costs of quality by applying the philosophy of total quality management (TQM). The benefits of using this model are not only increasing the company's business results, which will further serve as a driving force for continuous improvements, but also increasing the commitment of the top management and the employees towards improving processes, customer satisfaction, employees, shareholders, suppliers, community.
