W Kościele starożytnym nie znano celibatu w sensie obowiązku zachowania bezżeństwa przez wyższych duchownych. Udzielano święceń mężczyznom żonatym, jak i dobrowolnie żyjącym w bezżeństwie. Istniała jednak praktyka zachowania całkowitej wstrzemięźliwości przez diakonów, prezbiterów i biskupów, po przyjęciu święceń. Do IV w. nie było norm prawa stanowionego przez Kościół na ten temat, co wynikało z surowych przepisów prawa rzymskiego, które wymierzone było w celibatariuszy. Chodziło o to, aby nie dawać pretekstu do prześladowania chrześcijan. Dopiero wprowadzenie przez Konstantyna Wielkiego w IV w. nowych zasad polityki religijnej zmieniło sytuację. Synod w Elwirze wprowadził najstarsze, stanowione prawo partykularne, dotyczące celibatu wstrzemięźliwości. Kolejne synody nakazywały duchownym wstrzemięźliwość, ze względu na pełnioną służbę Bożą, a za jej niezachowanie wprowadziły kary, w postaci utraty urzędu kościelnego. Synody zabraniały udzielania święceń mężczyznom drugi raz żonatym oraz tzw. małżeństw duchowych kleru z synezaktami. Sobór Nicejski I wprowadził prawo dla całego Kościoła. Nie tylko nakazał duchownym życie w doskonałej wstrzemięźliwości, ale też zakazał duchownym żonatym, zamieszkania z prawowitą żoną. Papieże z IV i V w., wydawali dekretały, nakazując duchownym zachowanie celibatu wstrzemięźliwości, a uzasadniali to sprawowaniem kultu Bożego. Również prawo rzymskie usankcjonowało istniejący w Kościele celibat wstrzemięźliwości.

3. Time Spent Without a Cohabiting Partner: An Analysis Across Cohorts in France.

While the share of people under age 65 without a cohabiting partner has been increasing in France since the late 1960s, the duration of these periods of solo living over the life course has never been studied. We calculate the aggregate length of time spent without a cohabiting partner for the cohorts born between 1926 and 1988 using data from the ERFI (2005) and EPIC (2013-2014) surveys, and use linear regressions to identify the factors behind the observed trends. These durations have evolved differently by gender and have shortened for women, who have benefited more than men from the decline in prolonged singlehood and early widowhood. For many years, social origin and educational level structured the length of time spent single, but their effects are progressively weakening. The first baby-boom cohorts (1945-1955) are an exception, having experienced the shortest periods without a cohabiting partner. The increasingly complex partnership trajectories of more recent cohorts thus correspond more to a shift in conjugal norms than to their rejection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The author begins by stating the fact that the discourse on priestly celibacy and on the sense of its obligatoriness in the Catholic Church needs to at least try to answer some fundamental questions: Is celibacy a mere ecclesiastical, canonical-legal, disciplinary directive that was introduced in a given historical moment, or is its source something else or Someone else? What are the (non-) justifications on the basis of which the Magisterium continues »to insist« even today, despite all challenges and problems that the Church faces at the turn of the epoch, on the complete abstinence of her ministerial officials for the Kingdom of God, although it is theologically entirely clear that celibacy is not a constitutive element of the holy orders? According to the conciliar and postconciliar doctrine, the priestly celibacy has its source in three different areas: in the gift of the Holy Spirit – charisma, in the free and loving response of a candidate who takes upon himself the Gospel counsel through the act of public promise in the moment of receiving the holy order of deacon, and, finally, in the can. 277 of the Code of Canon Law, i.e., in canonical-legal institutionalisation related to the theological, spiritual, and pastoral appropriateness that the Church, led by the Holy Spirit, sees between celibacy and the holy orders, and which is also supported by that same Spirit in its execution. Therefore, celibacy concerns primarily the moral obligation that is established by the theological order, insofar as its source is the special relation between God who calls and the person who responds, and only secondarily is that relation »ratified« in the canonical-legal, disciplinary obligation that carries its own rights and duties. The Church continues to see celibacy as a kind of ecclesiastical dowry or privilege that is not absolute or unchangeable, but nevertheless wisely instituted, positively recognised, historically accredited, and, despite all challenges, experientially still credible. It is important not to separate celibacy from other Gospel counsels (poverty and obedience), virtues, and dimensions of priestly life. All these dimensions have to be in constant dialogue, while not leaving on the side the need for style and discernment in everyday life that demands much needed prudence – debita prudentia. In his fatherly figure, the diocesan bishop has to take care, primarily, of the formation of priestly candidates and a healthy selection of candidates for the holy orders, but he should also never lose sight of caring for the lives of his priests and be of help to them as they strive to fulfil their obligations by using all means that are available to him. W pierwszej części artykułu zaprezentowano kanony odnoszące się do wymogów ważności święceń oraz ich godziwości. Druga część jest prezentacją norm zawartych w Ratio fundamentalis. W artykule przytoczono także inne, obowiązujące normy prawa, które są przejawem troski Kościoła o właściwą formację przyszłych kapłanów.

Jego specyfiką jest próba prześledzenia rozwoju argumentacji teologicznej i personalistycznej zawartej w najważniejszych dokumentach Urzędu Nauczycielskiego Kościoła. Szczególny nacisk został położony na teksty współczesne, wydane już po Soborze Watykańskim II. To uwrażliwienie podyktowane jest dwoma zasadniczymi powodami. Po pierwsze, dokumenty posoborowe wprowadzają zupełnie nową jakość do argumentacji na temat powszechności celibatu. Po drugie, mają one o wiele większy wpływ na dzisiejszą dyscyplinę Kościoła niż teksty wcześniejsze.

This article focuses on the division of religious labour according to both gender and marital situation, based on an ethnographic survey in a Pentecostal church with a mixed membership in Istanbul (Turkey). Following the description of religious labour throughout its six areas, this research shows that celibacy is made relatively invisible inside the church, where the emphasis is on conjugality and family, while the latter bonds are de-emphasised in the outside world, where singles are at the forefront. "Love" appears as a multifaceted reality, encompassing not only justifications but the very output of religious labour, inside and outside the faith community. Résumé: Cet article s' intéresse à la division du travail religieux selon le genre et la situation conjugale, à partir d' une enquête ethnographique menée dans une église pentecôtiste socialement "mixte" située à Istanbul (Turquie). À travers la description du travail religieux dans les six principales aires où il se déploie, cette recherche montre que le célibat est relativement invisibilisé au sein de l' église, où l' accent est mis sur la conjugalité et la famille, tandis que ces liens perdent en importance à l' extérieur de l' église, où les célibataires sont au premier plan. "L' amour" apparaît comme une réalité multiple, qui non seulement justifie les modalités du travail religieux, mais est aussi le produit de ce travail, à l' intérieur et vers l' extérieur de la communauté de foi. This article looks at the debate on clerical celibacy among Czech theologians during the Enlightenment. Drawing largely on their writings, which in many cases served as textbooks in the training of future priests and thus had a significant impact, it analyses the origins, arguments and course of the debate. Doubts about the future of celibacy first appeared in canon law in the 1770s, conditioned in part by secular factors such as populationism. In the late 1780s clerical celibacy was publicly challenged by influential university theologians such as the church historian Kaspar Royko in Prague and the theologian Josef Lauber in Olomouc, a former Jansenist. Their main argument was the widespread non-compliance by priests and its harmful social consequences. The law also had its defenders (e.g. Franz Christoph Pittroff), whose main argument was the traditional one of the need for purity in the Eucharist. During the 1790s the public controversy about celibacy disappeared; but for many years the discourse on the subject remained strongly influenced by Enlightenment thinking. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

W Kościele starożytnym na początku celibat rozumiany jako bezżeństwo był dobrowolny. Bez ograniczeń święcono raz żonatych mężczyzn. Od połowy III w. zabraniano mężczyznom nieżonatym w chwili święceń zawierania małżeństwa po ich przyjęciu. Od IV w. powstało formalne prawo celibatu w sensie wymagania całkowitej wstrzemięźliwości seksualnej w relacjach z żoną. Te normy prawne potwierdzają liczne synody kościelne w Galii i przypominają o obowiązku ich przestrzegania. Celibat wstrzemięźliwości jest motywowany głównie wstrzemięźliwością kultową a także nauczaniem ewangelicznym i św. Pawła Apostoła. Za nieprzestrzeganie tych norm grożą różne kary kościelne, jakimi najczęściej są złożenie z urzędu i pozbawienie komunii.

The presence of studies that portray rural women who escape social expectations, question the reproduction of gender relations in rural communities and deny the submissive roles that women of previous generations played as a result of marriage is still incipient within the Social Sciences' literature. Thus, the present article aimed to investigate rural women's life histories by analysing them through the sociological categories of deviation and stigma, intending, as a result, to show these women´s different forms of existence and resistance to patriarchal values. Ten single rural women, over 40 years old, from four states in the Northeast region were interviewed. We identified the recurrent use of pejorative terms to refer to single women. We also observed that despite the remaining presence of a conservative lifestyle in rural areas, the women interviewed were able to resignify their condition, exalting their freedom and showing satisfaction for not building a family that fits the hegemonic mold. International audience; Singlehood appears to be an understudied topic in the social sciences, and a particularly diverse field of research. Focusing on the United States and France, this article reviews existing literature to answer three questions that are prerequisites for theorizing singlehood (1) What is singlehood? We first discuss the diversity of terms used in ordinary language to designate singles, and the different statistical measures that coexist in the scholarly literature. (2) Who and how many are single? We show that different definitions lead to different counts of the single population and discuss the driving forces behind the rise in singlehood. (3) What is new? Drawing on literature on the couple norm and the single lifestyle, we then turn to the question of the specificity of the contemporary era. In the last section, we discuss the implications for theorizing singlehood. The answers to all three questions lead us to promote a life course approach to singlehood.

La sexualité des célibataires de plus de 50 ans est encore rarement étudiée en raison d’un double angle mort de la recherche : le célibat et la sexualité des personnes plus âgées. Les grandes enquêtes sur la sexualité en France ont bien montré que malgré une diminution de la fréquence des rapports sexuels au cours de la vie, neuf personnes en couple sur dix ont toujours des relations sexuelles passé 50 ans. En revanche, la sexualité des célibataires dans leur cinquantaine, soixantaine et au-delà reste, quant à elle, à interroger. À partir des données du Baromètre Santé 2016, cet article propose une analyse de la sexualité des célibataires de plus de 50 ans selon le genre, l’âge, la catégorie socioprofessionnelle et l’orientation sexuelle. La sexualité des plus de 50 ans en dehors du couple est relativement fréquente bien que différenciée selon le genre : une femme sur trois a eu au moins un rapport sexuel dans l’année contre deux hommes sur trois. Cette différence s’accroît avec l’avancée en âge et la position plus élevée dans la hiérarchie sociale. De plus, les hommes bisexuels ou homosexuels célibataires maintiennent plus souvent une vie sexuelle passé 50 ans que les hommes exclusivement hétérosexuels. The sexuality of single people over 50 years old is still too rarely studied due to a double blind spot in research: singlehood and the sexuality of older people. The major surveys on sexuality in France have clearly shown that despite a decrease in the frequency of sexual intercourse during life, 9 out of 10 people in a couple still have sexual relations after the age of 50. However, the sexuality of single people in their fifties, sixties and beyond remains to be questioned. Based on data from the 2016 Health Barometer, this article offers an analysis of the sexuality of single people over 50 by gender, age, socio-professional category and sexual orientation. The sexuality of people over 50 outside the couple is relatively frequent, although differentiated according to gender: one in three women has had at least one sexual intercourse in the year compared to two in three men. This difference increases with advancing in age, between 50 and 75, and higher position in the social hierarchy. Bisexual or homosexual single men maintain more frequently a sex life past 50 than exclusively heterosexual men.

Malika Mokeddem s’inscrit dans la lignée d’écrivaines francophones qui traitent dans leurs textes de la situation socio-politique et culturelle de la femme en Algérie, mais aussi de l’entre-deux dans lequel se situent les femmes migrantes. On ne peut s’empêcher de noter que, sur les dix romans publiés jusqu'à date, aucune de ses héroïnes ne connait la sérénité dans le couple et elles rejettent toutes la maternité. Nous nous interrogerons donc, dans cet article sur les raisons de ces manques, afin de voir si on peut y lire plutôt une affirmation absolue de la liberté de la femme que des échecs. En outre, nous ferons un survol de l’évolution des narratrices de Mokeddem jusqu’à son roman le plus récent, La Désirante (2011), qui met en scène un nouveau type de rapport entre femme, homme aimé, argent et besoin de liberté.

Svećeništvo je poseban način života, teško shvatljiv, a u svojoj biti uvijek ostaje nepronicljiv, neiscrpan u potpunosti. Razmatrajući o njemu, nalazimo se u čudnom položaju, pred velikim otajstvom jer to o čemu razmatramo nije djelo ljudskog uma ili volje, već djelo Isusa Krista, Boga koji je postao čovjekom. Njegov način života treba biti vidljiv u onima koji mu se u potpunosti predaju u pozivu svećeništva. Kada pokušavamo uvidjeti bitne odrednice svećeničkog identiteta, potrebno je zagledati se u jedinog Svećenika. Danas je problem što više pokušavamo svećenika prilagoditi našim željama pa mu neke stvari oduzimamo ili pridodajemo ovisno o iskustvu susreta s drugim svećenicima, koji ujedno ostaju grješni ljudi. Ovaj rad je nastao u želji da se temeljne odrednice svećeničkog identiteta, koje su danas ugrožene, pogledaju u izvornoj vrijednosti i smislu koji nam dolaze od Utemeljitelja svećeništva. Priesthood is a special way of life, difficult to understand, and in its essence always remains abstruse, not fully exhausted. When considering him, we find ourselves in a strange position, in front of a great mystery because what we are considering is not the work of the human mind or will, but the work of Jesus Christ, God who became man. His way of life should be visible in those who give themselves completely to him in the vocation of the priesthood. When we try to see the essential determinants of priestly identity, it is necessary to look at the only Priest. Today, the problem is that we try to adapt the priest to our wishes, so we take away or add some things to him depending on the experience of meeting other priests, who at the same time remain sinful people. This work was created in a desire to look at the fundamental determinants of priestly identity, which are threatened today, in the original value and meaning that come to us from the Founder of the priesthood.

- Abstract
The main purpose of this article is to present the relationship between homosexuality and the priesthood in the Catholic Church over the centuries. The analysis reveals that the phenomenon of homosexuality splits more and more the Christian world. For two millennia in the Catholic Church there was not a formal prohibition of priestly ordination for gay people. The real revolution in this matter took place in November 2005 when Instruction Concerning the Criteria for the Discernment of Vocations with regard to Persons with Homosexual Tendencies in view of their Admission to the Seminary and to Holy Orders was published in Rome by the Congregation for Catholic Education. According to this document, the Church cannot admit to the seminary or to Holy Orders those who practice homosexuality, present deep-seated homosexual tendencies or support the so-called „gay culture". Deep-seated homosexual tendencies, which are found in a number of men and women, are also objectively disordered and, for those same people, often constitute a trial. Such persons, in fact, find themselves in a situation that gravely hinders them from relating correctly to men and women. One must in no way overlook the negative consequences that can derive from the ordination of persons with deep-seated homosexual tendencies. The crucial question for Catholics, that has rather the ontological character than moral, concerns the vision of the priest who acts in the person of Christ (in persona Christi). The understanding of the essential elements of the conformity of the Catholic priest to Christ seems to be crucial for the correct interpretation of the relationship between homosexuality and the priesthood. W niniejszym artykule autor używa elementów analizy socjoretorycznej dla odczytania znaczenia fragmentu 1 Kor 7,12-16. Zaczyna od przebadania kompozycji retorycznej, w której wyróżnia tezę (w. 1-2) oraz dwa bloki argumentacyjne, w. 3-16 i w. 25-40, rozdzielone retoryczną "digressio" w w. 17-25. W dalszej kolejności analizie socjokulturowej poddana zostaje Pawłowa argumentacja na temat „małżeństw mieszanych” w 1 Kor 7,12-16. Szczególna uwaga zostaje tu zwrócona na kwestię adresatów (kogo ma na myśli Paweł, mówiąc o „małżeństwach mieszanych”), ideę uświęcenia oraz dopuszczalność rozwodów w tego typu związkach. Ostatnim etapem analizy tekstu jest odczytanie znaczenia pokoju, o którym mówi Paweł w 1 Kor 7,15c. Według autora należy go rozumieć jako synonim zbawienia.

This article explores Muslim attitudes towards asceticism in the second/eighth and third/ninth centuries by examining the famous Prophetic hadith: "Every community has its monasticism, and the monasticism of my community is ǧihād." The hadith serves as a lens for assessing several broader phenomena, including early Muslim views of Christian monasticism, the rejection of celibacy in Islamic culture, and the promotion of a new code of sexual ethics in the post-conquest Middle East-what this article terms the "second sexual revolution of Late Antiquity." It concludes by presenting several accounts of Christian monks who converted to Islam and joined the ǧihād, as well as Muslim soldiers who converted to Christianity and became monks. International audience; In her founding essay “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?” published in ARTnews in 1971, the art historian Linda Nochlin explains that “such an outlook helps guard men from unwanted competition in their 'serious’ professional activities and assures them of 'well-rounded’ assistance on the home front, so they may have sex and family in addition to the fulfillment of their own specialized talent.” Starting from the dilemma between creation and procreation, private life and public life, social conventions and desire for emancipation that women artists must constantly negotiate, this article analyzes discourses and representations of the specific status of single women artists around 1900. While becoming a group visible and important enough to challenge the established gender order, women artists suffered, through discourses and representations (scientific, popular, literary), as within their private lives, from remarks comparing their life choices—when they did not correspond to a marital and reproductive ideal—with a form of non-suitability, emotional disease, or pathological deviance. Against this prevailing stigmatization, this article shows that representations changed slowly but surely. They found a climax among those women who managed to challenge this predominating discourse by fully embracing their choices in the public space.; Dans son article fondateur « Pourquoi n’y a-t-il pas eu de grands artistes femmes ? » paru dans ARTnews en 1971, l’historienne de l’art Linda Nochlin note que « [l]e choix offert aux femmes se pose semble-t-il toujours entre le mariage et une carrière – entre la solitude qui est la rançon du succès ou la sexualité et une compagnie qui récompensent le renoncement de la carrière ». Partant de ce dilemme entre création et procréation, vie privée et vie publique, convention sociale et désir d’émancipation avec lesquels les femmes artistes doivent constamment négocier, cet article analyse les discours et représentations du célibat des créatrices autour de 1900. Représentant à cette époque un groupe suffisamment visible et important pour menacer l’ordre établi des genres, les femmes artistes font communément les frais, dans les discours et les représentations (scientifiques, populaires, littéraires), de propos assimilant leur choix de vie – lorsqu’il ne répond pas à l’idéal conjugal et reproductif – à une forme de non-convenance, de malaise affectif ou encore de déviance pathologique. Cependant, face à cette stigmatisation dominante, nous verrons que les représentations évoluent lentement mais surement. Elles trouvent notamment un point d’aboutissement chez les femmes elles-mêmes qui réussissent à récuser le discours dominant en assumant pleinement leurs choix dans l’espace public.

The issue of celibacy obligations for clerics according to the Code of Canon Law of 1983 was taken up in the article. This problem contains the following items: 1) theological and legal basis for the celibacy obligation; 2) celibacy obligation in the Code of Canon Law of 1983; 3) celibacy in selected documents issued after the Code of Canon Law of 1983; 4) conclusion. Legislator in can. 277, binding the clerics to celibacy, indicates the source of this obligation, what is the candidate’s own will to the orders. According to the can. 277, celibacy means chastity sensu stricto (in a perfect way). Canon Law regulation concerning celibacy law has a long Church tradition. When cleric does not obey this obligation, penal sanctions are applied. Celibacy which is voluntarily accepted and experienced in a proper way is a spiritual reality sign, contributes to the salvation of souls which is the supreme law in the Church.

In the late 5th century, disciplinary practices of the Assyrian Church of the East saw an unprecedented change in the scope of marriages of priests and those serving the God. Synods in Saliq in 486 and 497 agreed not only to consecrate married men but also to allow already consecrated priests and bishops to get married. The synods lifted restrictions on successive bigamy (marriages of widows and widowers) as well. Abstinence as such was limited and priests were allowed to maintain contacts with their wives and have children. This was the key issue for bishops participating in the debate although history remembered the assemblies as proclaiming the Nestorian confession of faith. The matter of adaptation to standards of the Persian society was very pressing, with both resolutions and the course of the debate showing clear intervention of Persian sovereigns. Adopted arrangements remained binding to a greater or lesser extent for over half a century and although they did not introduce any permanent change in the Church discipline, they represent an interesting example of an attempt to adjust the canon law to the social context of the life of Christians in the Persian Empire.

Članak promišlja o uvijek gorućemu pitanju celibata u krizama današnje Crkve. U prvomu dijelu pokušava se teološki opravdati celibat kao prikladnije sredstvo ostvarenja svećeničkoga poziva od bračnoga života. Navode se posebno crkveni oci, koji svi jednoglasno promatraju celibat savršenijim staležom od bračnoga, pri čemu to ne znači da netko postaje samim tim savršeniji, ukoliko pripada celibatu. U drugomu dijelu ukratko se predstavlja današnja situacija Crkve, krize u Crkve koje pogađaju i sam celibat. Premda se i dalje tvrdi da je celibat prikladnije sredstvo za ostvarenje svećeničkoga poziva, Crkva bi mogla promisliti ima li postojeća obveza celibata za svećeništvo još smisla, ako li se celibat shvaća kao isključivi izričaj moći, oholosti ili kao sigurno utočište za homoseksualne osobe. No, unatoč navedenim krizama članak se ipak shvaća kao svojevrsni pledoaje za svećenički celibat, koji i danas može biti i jest „jasniji znak“ kraljevstva Božjega.

De Marianne Moore, on connaît sans doute le mieux les descriptions à la fois étranges et minutieuses de plantes ou d’animaux, que la formule « imaginary gardens with real toads in them » en est parfois venue à résumer. Cet article réexamine certains de ces curieux spécimens à l’aune des tensions qu’ils engagent entre exceptionnalité et représentativité. À travers les processus de sélection et d’inclusion qui la fondent, la poétique de la greffe, que mettent particulièrement en jeu ses textes botaniques, semble présupposer l’assimilation d’éléments hétérogènes—greffons végétaux ou littéraires—en un même organisme et un unique habitat, qui en viendrait à représenter l’espace d’une démocratie des voix et des espèces. Si, en intégrant le divers, l’œuvre de Moore paraît elle-même s’incorporer de plus en plus dans l’arène publique, elle n’en continue pourtant pas moins de cultiver l’exception. Plus que les spécimens d’une espèce commune, ses créatures hybrides s’offrent comme autant de singularités composites, dont la “mêlée” plus que le “mélange” (Nancy) devient le mode d’existence poétique autant que politique. Moore is certainly best known for her oddly meticulous plant and animal descriptions, which the phrase “imaginary gardens with real toads in them” has sometimes come to synthesize. This article reexamines some of these peculiar specimens in light of the tensions they engage between exceptionality and representativeness. Relying on processes of selection and inclusion, the poetics of grafting at work in her botanical pieces seem to entail the assimilation of heterogenous elements—whether vegetable or literary scions—into one organism and single habitat, which could thereby be made to represent the space for a democracy of species and voices. But while Moore’s integration of diversity does evince a growing participation in the arena of public discourse, her idiosyncratic writing also resists synthesis and keeps cultivating exception. More than the specimens of a common species, her hybrid creatures are staged as composite singular cases, whose poetic and political mode of existence is that of the “melee” rather than the “melange” (Nancy).

Vycházeje z aktuální situace v oblasti feminizace na rakouských školách, bude v historické studii zahrnující časové rozmezí od r. 1870 do konce první světové války načrtnuta dlouhá cesta učitelek k rovnoprávnosti a uznání, jak ji lze sledovat v historických odborných pedagogických časopisech. Kořeny feminizace, především v oblasti primární školy, sahají hluboko do 19. století (tehdy školy obecné – Volksschule). Přes veškeré překážky ze strany mužských kolegů a obtížné pracovní podmínky bylo až do roku 1896, kdy byly dívky/ženy poprvé připuštěny ke složení maturity, povolání „učitelky“ jedinou možností, jak mohly dosáhnout uznávaného vzdělání, které přesahovalo rámec povinné školní docházky. Během krátké doby tudíž vzdělávací ústavy „vyprodukovaly“ nadbytek učitelek, které se často musely jako soukromé učitelky za „skývu chleba“ tvrdě protloukat životem. Dnešní vysoká míra feminizace, jejímž důsledkem je nedostatek mužů na rakouských primárních školách, oslabuje především u chlapců možnost setkávat se s příklady mužských rolových vzorů; chlapci tak v dětském věku nenacházejí modely chování příslušníků stejného pohlaví, se kterými by se mohli identifikovat; zdá se, že chlapci s migračním pozadím – speciálně z jiných kulturních kruhů – jsou tím obzvláště postiženi. Argumentace podložené teorií genderu ukazují na rozmanitost důvodů, proč v učitelském povolání vládne feminizace a proč jen málo mužů volí studium učitelství pro primární školu. Mnohé jevy, se kterými se v nejnovějších studiích setkáváme (obsazování vedoucích míst, aspekty pracovní psychologie…), nacházíme již v pojednáních z let na přelomu mezi 19. a 20. stoletím.

Tidigare forskning har främst belyst incels i relation till våld och radikalisering. Förhållandevis lite akademisk uppmärksamhet har tillägnats det som kan förstås som kärnan av incelgemenskapen; avsaknaden av intima relationer. Följande studie ämnar fylla detta tomrum genom att undersöka incels föreställningar om maskulinitet och intima relationer, samt hur de kan förstås i relation till teoretiska perspektiv på maskulinitet och sexualitet. Studien utgår från en kvalitativ metod med en socialkonstruktivistisk forskningsansats. Materialinsamlingen har skett i form av ett tidsbaserat urval där skrivna inlägg från de tre internationellt största diskussionsforumen för incels inhämtades, vid tre olika tillfällen. Alla foruminlägg som publicerades inom en specifik timme inkluderades i urvalet. Empirin bearbetades med en induktiv konventionell innehållsanalys. De teoretiska perspektiven utgår från hegemonisk maskulinitet, och en utveckling av Bourdieus begrepp om fysiskt kapital. Erotiskt kapital användes som kompletterande teoretiskt begrepp. De övergripande resultaten visar att många av personerna på incelforumen förhåller sig till två föreställda strukturer inom vilka intima relationer antas uppstå. Den ena strukturen utgår från en föreställd maskulinitetshierarki där endast män med hegemonisk status antas kunna inleda intima relationer med kvinnor. Den andra strukturen består av en föreställd sexuell marknad där medlemmarna menar att kvinnor strävar efter att inleda relationer med attraktiva och framgångsrika män. Personerna på incelforumen försöker utveckla och etablera strategier för att uppnå en överordnad position i maskulinitetshierarkin och på den sexuella marknaden. Syftet med att avancera inom hierarkierna utgår från en föreställning om att endast en överordnad position kan möjliggöra intima relationer., Previous research has placed incels in relation to violence and radicalization. Relatively little academic attention has been paid to what can be seen as the essence of the community; the lack of intimate relationships. The following study aims to close this gap by exploring how incels view masculinity and intimate relationships, and how this view relates to theoretical perspectives on sexuality and masculinity. This study is based on a qualitative method with a social constructivist approach. Data was collected in the form of a time-based sample where written posts from the three largest international forums for incels were collected on three different occasions. At each occasion all forum posts that were created or updated within a chosen specific hour were included in the sample. The material was processed using an inductive conventional content analysis. The theoretical perspective is based on hegemonic masculinity, and a development of Bourdieu's concept of physical capital. Erotic capital was used as a complementary theoretical concept. The overall results show that people on the incel forums relate to two imagined structures within which intimate relationships are assumed to arise. One structure is based on an imagined masculinity hierarchy where only men with hegemonic status are assumed to be able to initiate intimate relationships with women. The second structure consists of an imagined sexual market where forum members believe that women strive to initiate relationships with attractive and successful men. The people on the incel forums try to develop and establish strategies to achieve a superior position in the masculinity hierarchy and on the sexual market. The purpose of advancing within the hierarchies is based on the notion that only a superior position can enable intimate relationships.

This article represents an attempt to expound the meaning of 33rd canon of the Council of Elvira (circa 306 A.D.), based on historical and grammatical criteria, in reference to doubts related to the linguistic understanding of the text. The author argues that the traditional interpretation of the canon as a prescription prohibiting those who have received major orders (i.e. deacons, presbyters and bishops) having marital relationship is justified (as opposed to authors who agree with the opinion presented by Maurice Meigne). This, in turn, recognises the authenticity of the text as an integral part of the entire collection of the canons of the Council of Elvira. This paper, while presenting a version of the translation of the canon, proposes also some modifications on punctuation marks, which allows the extraction of the full meaning of the text.

The present article is an analysis of 1 Corinthians 7:1-40. It presents the relevance of the choice of one’s way of life, either in marriage or in celibacy. Considering the passing away of this life, St. Paul showed the Corinthians the value of virginity as a testimony of the Kingdom of God. According to the apostle, this particular form of life is the best preparation for the eternal life. It enables a person to completely devote his/her life to the preaching of the Kingdom. St. Paul chose this way of living in order to commit himself to the proclamation of the Gospel. Celibacy freed him from all concerns related to the providing for the family. The teachings comprised in the analyzed text are particularly relevant for Christians living in the early twenty-first century. 1 Cor 7: 29-31 is utterly opposed to the models of life preferred in the contemporary world. In light of this utterance, it is worth asking where we can be led by this world that has chosen a completely different way of living. It is no wonder that modern man is not able to understand the value of virginity and celibacy which are a call to conversion and a sign of the Kingdom that will be opposed.

The legislator in can. 210 of the 1983 Code of Canon Law obliges all Christ’s faithful to lead a holy life, and in cann. 276 and 278 § 2, with regard to the sacrament of orders, clergy. In the order of holiness, however, all the baptized are equal. The loss of the clerical state, except in the cases mentioned in can. 290, 1°, does not entail any dispensation from the obligation of celibacy. The rescript of the Roman Pontiff gives the dispensed from celibacy the possibility of full participation in the sacramental life, including marriage according to canon law, and the remission of a censure. Ustawodawca w kan. 210 Kodeksu Prawa Kanonicznego z 1983 r. zobowiązuje do prowadzenia życia świętego wszystkich wiernych chrześcijan, zaś w kan. 276 i 278 § 2, ze względu na sakrament święceń, duchownych. W porządku świętości jednak wszyscy ochrzczeni są równi. Utrata stanu duchownego, oprócz wypadków podniesionych w kan. 290, 1°, nie niesie z sobą dyspensy od obowiązku celibatu. Reskrypt Biskupa Rzymskiego przywraca dyspensowanemu od celibatu możliwość pełnego uczestnictwa w życiu sakramentalnym, w tym zawarcia małżeństwa według prawa kanonicznego oraz zwalnia z cenzur.

International audience; Dans son article fondateur « Pourquoi n’y a-t-il pas eu de grands artistes femmes ? » paru dans ARTnews en 1971, l’historienne de l’art Linda Nochlin note que « [l]e choix offert aux femmes se pose semble-t-il toujours entre le mariage et une carrière – entre la solitude qui est la rançon du succès ou la sexualité et une compagnie qui récompensent le renoncement de la carrière ». Partant de ce dilemme entre création et procréation, vie privée et vie publique, convention sociale et désir d’émancipation avec lesquels les femmes artistes doivent constamment négocier, cet article analyse les discours et représentations du célibat des créatrices autour de 1900. Représentant à cette époque un groupe suffisamment visible et important pour menacer l’ordre établi des genres, les femmes artistes font communément les frais, dans les discours et les représentations (scientifiques, populaires, littéraires), de propos assimilant leur choix de vie – lorsqu’il ne répond pas à l’idéal conjugal et reproductif – à une forme de non-convenance, de malaise affectif ou encore de déviance pathologique. Cependant, face à cette stigmatisation dominante, nous verrons que les représentations évoluent lentement mais surement. Elles trouvent notamment un point d’aboutissement chez les femmes elles-mêmes qui réussissent à récuser le discours dominant en assumant pleinement leurs choix dans l’espace public.

Iako devetnaesto stoljeće nalaže kako je ženi mjesto u kućanstvu u ulozi supruge i majke, javljaju se mlade djevojke koje žele izaći iz tih okvira i postati učiteljice. Prva ustanova za njihovo školovanje bila je samostanska Ženska preparandija sestara milosrdnica u Zagrebu, a kasnije je otvorena i svjetovna Zemaljska preparandija. Iako su imale jednake kriterije za upis preparandije kao i muškarci, bile su diskriminirane na nekoliko načina. Od samog početka smatrane su slabijim spolom pa nisu mogle predavati starijim dječacima, učiti o gospodarstvu i prirodnim znanostima i sl. Diskriminirane su bile i po pitanju plaće koja je bila barem za trećinu manja od one njihovih muških kolega. Također, kasnijim zakonom nametnut im je celibat pa moraju birati između karijere i obitelji. Među svima njima istaknule su se Marija Jambrišak, Marija Fabković, Jagoda Truhelka i Milka Pogačić kao učiteljice koje su bile odlične u svom zanimanju te aktivne i van učionice u časopisima poput Napretka, beletristici i sl. Krajem stoljeća dolazi do većih promjena i napretka budući da se otvara Privremeni ženski licej, a ubrzo nakon njega i mogućnost studiranja ženama na Kraljevskom sveučilištu Franje Josipa I., Although the nineteenth century dictated that women’s place is in the household in the role of wife and mother, there were young girls who wanted to go beyond these frameworks and become teachers. The first institution for their education was the monastic Women Teacher’s Training School of the Sisters of Charity in Zagreb, and then later the Public Teacher Training School was opened. Although they had the same criteria for enrollment as men, they were discriminated against in several ways. From the very beginning, they were considered the weaker sex, so they could not teach older boys, learn about economics and natural sciences, etc. They were also discriminated against in terms of salary, which was at least a third lower than that of their male colleagues. Also, in the year of 1888, the new law imposed celibacy on them, so they had to choose between a career and a family. Among all of them, Marija Jambrišak, Marija Fabković, Jagoda Truhelka and Milka Pogačić stood out as teachers who were excellent in their profession, active outside the classroom in magazines such as Napredak, children fiction novels, etc. At the end of the century there were made major changes and progress. The Temporary Women’s Lyceum was opened, and soon after that women could enrol at the Royal University of Francis Joseph I.

The aim of this thesis is to describe the history of celibacy in the Roman Catholic Church, to state the reasons why celibacy was introduced as obligatory for persons in consecrated life, and to comment on objections to it. There was described the history of celibacy from Jesus Christ to the Second Vatican Council, the theological and practical reasons for celibacy were given, as well as the most common objections to it with the arguments of the ecclesiastical authorities that defend celibacy. From its inception, the Church tended to introduce celibacy, but did not introduce it as a duty until 1139 at the Second Lateran Council. All subsequent councils have confirmed this law. The main theological reason for celibacy is the paragon in Jesus Christ, and for practical reasons it is above all freedom and time, thanks to which the celibate can devote himself fully to God or the Church.

International audience; In Japan, some video games (otome games) allow women to have a love affair in the other world. In these simulation games, the player's avatar is a young girl who is run over by a car and then wakes up in a nightmarish afterlife: a high school filled with souls in pain condemned to continue their studies and to gradually lose their personality and their memory, before disappearing. Some of the dead students rebel, adopting a behavior very similar to that of ghosts in the Noh plays. Ghosts refuse to let go and cling to their desires, unable to sever the ties that bind them to the phenomenal world. Making the love story close to an exorcism ritual, these simulation games confront the users with double-binds which, metaphorically, reproduce the contradictory injunctions which now prevail in contemporary Japanese society. Could it be that otome games serve as tools for renunciation? Introducing users into a simulated post-mortem environment, otome games seem to allow them to transpose onto a digital purgatory the social death they are faced with… while offering them the means to ward off this social “damnation”. Will the love of a dead person be able to save them?; Au Japon, certains jeux vidéos (appelés otome games) permettent aux femmes d’avoir une relation amoureuse dans l’autre monde. Dans ces jeux de simulation, l’avatar de la joueuse est une jeune fille qui se fait écraser par une voiture puis se réveille dans un au-delà de cauchemar : un lycée rempli d’âmes en peine condamnées à poursuivre leurs études, études au cours desquelles – progressivement – ces âmes perdent leur personnalité et leur mémoire, avant de disparaître. Certains étudiants morts se révoltent contre ce système de décérébration et reproduisent le comportement des fantômes qui, dans les pièces de nô, refusent de lâcher prise et s’accrochent à leurs désirs, incapables de couper les liens qui les enchaînent au monde phénoménal. Assimilant l’histoire d’amour à un rituel d’exorcisme, ces jeux de simulation confrontent les utilisatrices à des doubles-injonctions contradictoires qui, de façon métaphorique, reproduisent celles que la société contemporaine japonaise impose aux générations actuelles. Se pourrait-il que les otome games soient des outils au service d’une forme de renonciation ? Introduisant les utilisatrices dans un environnement post-mortem simulé, les jeux japonais semblent en effet leur permettre de transposer sur un purgatoire numérique la mort sociale à laquelle la société les condamne tout en leur offrant les moyens de conjurer cette forme de damnation. L’amour d'un mort pourra-t-il les sauver ?
