International audience; Chromium coated zirconium based nuclear fuel claddings are among the most promising evolutive concepts in the field of Enhanced Accident Tolerant Fuel (EATF) developments [1-2]. The development of these new claddings has been accelerated since 2011 and the Fukushima-DAICHI nuclear accident. Among some other objectives, one of the main ideas is to develop new concepts of nuclear fuel claddings able to delay the High Temperature (HT) steam oxidation kinetics and the associated hydrogen production (explosion risk) and to improve the resultant Post-Quenching (PQ) cladding strength and ductility upon and following hypothetical accident conditions such as Loss-of-Coolant-Accident (LOCA). In this context, Cr-coated Zr based alloys, with 10-20µm thick Cr coating (PVD deposition), show promising behaviour .

International audience; Toute surface immergée dans un liquide et particulièrement dans l'eau de mer est sujette à l'adhésion d'organismes qui peuvent être des bactéries et d'autres microorganismes, des algues ou encore des mollusques. Ce phénomène est connu sous le nom de biofouling. Un des problèmes majeurs lié à ce phénomène est la dégradation des mesures prises en milieu marin par des capteurs évaluant par exemple la turbidité ou la fluorescence. Pour pallier à ce problème, nous proposons une solution antifouling protégeant le hublot de capteurs immergés en utilisant une membrane polymère piézoélectrique vibrante. La Figure 1 donne une vue schématique du système. La membrane piézoélectrique a été dimensionnée en utilisant le logiciel de calcul par éléments finis COMSOL, afin d'obtenir la plus forte amplitude de vibration possible. Des membranes ont par la suite été réalisées en collant des actionneurs piézoélectriques annulaires en PZT (PIC155 de chez PI) sur une feuille en poly carbonate (PC) de 250 µm d épaisseur. Des connexions électriques ont été soudées pour appliquer le signal d'actionnement via un générateur de signaux. Les membranes ont été préalablement caractérisées à l'aide d un vibromètre laser, afin de vérifier leur bon fonctionnement. Comme prédit par la simulation, une fréquence de résonance de 950 Hz a été mesurée. A cette fréquence, une importante amplitude de déformation de 8 µm est mesurée sous une tension de seulement 10 V. Ces membranes ont été intégrées à une plaque multi-puits permettant des tests de laboratoire sur la bactérie marine TC8 (Pseudoalteromonas lipolytica), qui a été isolée dans la baie de Toulon. La plaque multi-puits a été placée dans un incubateur Excella E24 à 20°C pendant 16 heures, et 6 des membranes ont été mises en vibration. Les tests ont montré que les vibrations réduisent l'adhésion des bactéries de 96 ± 8 % au centre de la membrane, où l'amplitude de vibration est la plus importante (Figure 2). Enfin, des membranes ont également été intégrées à un système apte à être immergé dans la rade de Toulon, en mer Méditerranée. Cette première campagne d'évaluation in situ a montré que notre système antifouling permet de décaler d une semaine l'encrassement de la fenêtre optique (Figure 3). L'optimisation du signal d'actionnement permettrait d'obtenir un effet antifouling plus long en mer, mais ces premiers résultats prouvent le potentiel de notre solution antifouling vibratoire.

International audience; Débuté en 2019, le projet ANR Bigdad porte sur l'altération aqueuse des principaux produits verriers industriels mis sur le marché. Depuis quelques décennies la migration d'éléments constitutifs du contenant vers le contenu a été démontrée [1; 7], notamment dans le cas du cristal au plomb [4-6], pouvant conduire à une évolution de la réglementation concernant l'emploi des matières premières (REACh) et les limites de migration. Une partie du projet est présentée ici sur l'effet de différents traitements de surface sur la migration des éléments.Des essais normalisés [2; 3] proposent de retenir l'acide acétique comme milieu représentatif d'un contact alimentaire. Des tests de lixiviation à court et long terme (jusqu'à trois ans d'altération) ont été menés sur cinq compositions industrielles : borosilicate, cristallin au baryum, cristal au plomb, sodocalcique et fluorosilicate (aussi dit verre opale) pour déterminer les mécanismes d'altération propres à chaque verre. Des études structurales par RMN du solide haute résolution avant et après altération, ainsi que des caractérisations poussées par MEB-EDS et ToF SIMS ont été menées pour caractériser les couches d'altérations dont les épaisseurs s'échelonnent de quelques centaines de nanomètres à quelques dizaines de microns après trois ans d'altération.A partir de cette vue d'ensemble du comportement des verres au cours de leur altération en milieu acide, les effets de cinq traitements de surface ont été étudiés du point de vue de leur impact sur la durabilité des produits verriers. Trois traitements par dépôts chimiques ont été sélectionnés : oxyde d'étain (SnO2), oxyde de silicium (SiO2) et oxyde de titane (TiO2) et deux traitement par voie chimique : polissage acide et cémentation. L'ensemble de ces traitements ont été appliqués sur les cinq compositions de verre étudiées précédemment. Les cinétiques d'altération ont pu être collectées sur plus d'un an d'altération et les résultats montrent des effets qui peuvent être particulièrement bénéfiques vis-à-vis du relâchement de certains éléments. International audience; Les verres dits opales sont des verres industriels fluorosilicatés constitués d'une matrice vitreuse au sein de laquelle on fait germer et croître des cristaux à l'échelle plutôt nanométrique. Ces verres translucides à aspect blanc laiteux, sont à destination principalement des arts de la table. L'objectif de cette étude est d'évaluer la durabilité chimique de ces verres sur le long terme dans une solution d'acide acétique à 70°C, pendant environ 7,5 mois. L'acide acétique est le milieu retenu comme représentatif d'un contact alimentaire[1]. Cette étude s'inscrit dans le cadre plus large d'un projet ANR nommé Bigdad, portant sur l'altération aqueuse des principaux produits verriers industriels mis sur le marché en caractérisant les phénomènes de migration des éléments constitutifs du contenant vers le contenu. Les verres opales étudiés ont été extraits à partir d'assiettes. Deux surfaces distinctes ont été analysées : l'une lisse provenant de l'assiette côté air, l'autre rugueuse provenant de l'assiette côté moule de centrifugation. Deux variétés de verre ont été choisies : l'un avec une couche d'oxyde d'étain en surface, l'autre sans couche de SnO2.Trois techniques complémentaires ont été utilisées pour caractériser ces verres opales, à l'état sain et à l'état altéré, avec ou sans couche de SnO2 : la spectrométrie de masse d'ions secondaires à temps de vol (ToF-SIMS) qui permet des réaliser des profils d'analyse élémentaire et moléculaire sur la surface (dans cette étude jusqu'à 2,5 m de profondeur) ; la RMN multinucléaire pour sonder la structure locale de ces verres, quantifier les phases cristallines et aussi déterminer l'environnement local autour d'isotopes naturellement présents dans le verre (dans cette étude 29Si, 27Al, 19F et 23Na) ; la microscopie électronique en transmission avec système de microanalyse (ATEM), qui permet d'imager les nanocristaux présents dans les verres opales, et de caractériser texturalement et chimiquement les couches d'altération.Un bilan complet de ces analyses sera présenté, révélant notamment les corrélations entre les résultats obtenus par ces trois techniques de caractérisation et la durabilité chimique de ce type de verre. Certification through auditing allows to ensure that critical embedded systems are secure. This entails reviewing their critical components and checking for dangerous execution paths. This latter task requires the use of specialized tools which allow to explore and replay executions but are also difficult to use effectively within the context of the audit, where time and knowledge of the code are limited. Fault analysis is especially tricky as the attacker may actively influence execution, rendering some common methods unusable and increasing the number of possible execution paths exponentially. In this work, we present a new method which mitigates these issues by reducing the number of fault injection points considered to only the most relevant ones relatively to some security properties. We use fast and robust static analysis to detect injection points and assert their impactfulness. A more precise dynamic/symbolic method is then employed to validate attack paths. This way the insight required to find attacks is reduced and dynamic methods can better scale to realistically sized programs. International audience; This work presents the experimental study of the behavior of copper and copper oxides in presence of pollutants in steam generator flow-restricted areas. The experiments were conducted under secondary circuit thermochemical conditions. Two redox conditions were performed, reducing ones to reproduce operating conditions, with or without presence of magnetite, and a weakly oxidizing one to simulate an oxygen inlet. High concentrations of sodium and phosphates were used to simulate a heavily polluted environment that can be encountered in flow-restricted areas during hideout process.In a steam generator (SG) of a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR), the hideout process can occur in flow-restricted areas. Non-volatile polluting species tend to accumulate in these regions due to boiling. Their concentrations can reach up to several orders of magnitude [1] above those encountered in the chemical conditioning yielding extreme pH values. Such pollutants include various metallic elements like iron, nickel, sodium, aluminum or copper, and other ions like sulfates, chlorides or phosphates. Some authors have already discussed the behavior of solid copper species in presence of phosphate under secondary circuit thermochemical conditions. Turner et al. [2] showed how sodium phosphate lead to aconsolidation of a magnetite-copper sludge already formed with few information on which phases were observed, and Ziemniak et al. [3] and Palmer [4] had a major focus on the dissolved species rather than the solids. This study is a step towards a more complete description of the flow-restricted areas, including the interaction of copper and copper oxides with other species present in the secondary circuit. The objective was to identify the stable solid copper-containing species under the thermochemical conditions encountered in SG flow-restricted areas

In a Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell assembly, the Gas Diffusion Layers are submitted tocompression between the fluidic gas circuits. Thus, this highly porous carbon fibre material undergoesheterogeneous finite strains that influence the fuel cell performances and durability. In this work, theeffect of pattern size on the material deformation was investigated experimentally, and compared withFinite Element Modeling computed using homogeneous mechanical behavior from the state of the art., Dans l'assemblage des piles à combustible à membrane échangeuse de protons, la couche de diffusion de gaz est soumise à une compression par des motifs. Ce matériau très poreux composé de fibres de carbones subit donc de grandes déformations hétérogènes, qui influencent les performances et la durabilité des piles. Une étude expérimentale de l'effet de la taille des motifs sur la réponse du matériau est présentée ici, ainsi que la simulation numérique de ce cas de charge avec les modèles de matériau homogènes classiquement utilisés dans la littérature.

International audience; Les verres nucléaires actuellement utilisés pour le confinement des produits de fission et actinides mineurs peuvent inclure un taux de charge allant jusqu'à 18.5%. Les matériaux vitrocéramiques envisagés pour cette application seraient une alternative intéressante qui permettrait de diminuer le volume de colis. Pendant le stockage, les inclusions de phases cristallines, riches en produits de fission, sont soumises à une auto-irradiation α provoquant un gonflement susceptible d'engendrer une fissuration de la matrice vitreuse. La mise en oeuvre de simulations de grande taille devra permettre d'évaluer l'effet de la microstructure sur la fissuration du matériau en se rattachant à des quantités d'intérêt comme le temps avant la première fissuration ou la surface fissurée. Pour répondre à cette question, on se propose de mettre en place une simulation numérique de la fissuration dans ce type de matériau. Les méthodes numériques s'appuyant sur l'utilisation des Transformées de Fourier Rapide (FFT en anglais), dites « méthodes FFT », sont particulièrement adaptées à la simulation du comportement mécanique de matériaux hétérogènes. En effet, comparés à l'utilisation de codes Élément-Finis « standards », les codes FFT sont souvent bien plus performants et très bien adaptés à une implémentation parallèle en mémoire distribuée. Initialement proposée pour des modèles de comportement locaux, linéaires ou non-linéaires, l'utilisation de ces méthodes s'étend désormais au cadre des modèles non-locaux, tels que la plasticité ou l'endommagement à gradient [4, 9]. Par ailleurs, pour simuler la fissuration, les modèles de champ de phase d'endommagement [6, 2] sont l'objet d'un intérêt croissant dans la communauté mécanicienne. Ainsi, l'implémentation du modèle de champ de phase proposé par Miehe [10] a été récemment proposée au sein de codes FFT [4, 5], et notamment au sein du code massivement parallèle AMITEX_FFTP [1]. L'objet de cette communication est donc de présenter les premiers résultats et améliorations mises en places pour l'étude des matériaux hétérogènes à inclusions gonflantes. La première partie de l'exposé se concentrera sur le cadre de comportements élastiques linéaires (avec gonflement des inclusions). Une attention particulière sera portée ici à l'utilisation de voxels composites [7, 8] afin d'améliorer la qualité des simulations numériques [3]. Les analyses seront réalisées dans un premier temps sur des cellules de taille réduite (une inclusion) puis sur des cellules plus larges avec une distribution aléatoire d'inclusions. On présentera ici brièvement les outils génériques développés au CEA pour générer les microstructures, les voxeliser et identifier les voxels composites. Enfin, ces simulations sur matériaux élastiques seront l'occasion d'analyser les performances du code AMITEX_FFTP en terme de scalabilité (faible et forte). La seconde partie de l'exposé sera consacrée aux premières simulations FFT de la fissuration de matériaux hétérogènes avec inclusion gonflante. Après avoir rappelé le modèle de Miehe [10] on présentera son implémentation au sein d'une méthode FFT et plus particulièrement au sein du code AMITEX_FFTP. Cette première implémentation repose sur l█utilisation d'une variable d'« histoire » visant à assurer une évolution croissante du champ de phase et, côté algorithme, sur un schéma alterné (non itératif), consistant à résoudre un problème de champ de phase, puis un problème de mécanique avant de passer au pas suivant. Ce type d█algorithme nécessite l█utilisation de pas de chargements très fin. Pour le traitement spécifique aux matériaux hétérogènes, l█approche retenue est celle proposée par Ernesti [5]. Enfin, on proposera ici différents choix de discrétisation spatiale des équations (des problèmes mécaniques et de champ de phase) et on discutera l█effet de ce choix sur les résultats de simulations. De même, l█effet positif de la prise en compte des voxels composites démontré pour des comportements linéaires sera discuté ici. Les analyses présentées seront réalisées sur des géométries simples ne considérant qu█une seule inclusion (disque en 2D, sphère en 3D).

International audience; We propose an adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) algorithm dedicated to the simulation of nonlinearquasi-static solid mechanics problems with phenomena localized at the structural scale [1]. The proposedmethod allows us to follow in time the evolution of studied phenomena in a fully-automatic (thanks to ana posteriori error estimator [2]), precise (respecting user-prescribed accuracies) and efficient (in terms ofmemory space and computational time) way.We adopt the multilevel Local Defect Correction (LDC) refinement method [3] for its great potentialitiesfor solving elliptic problems [4]. We propose an algorithmic extension of the LDC method to nonlinearquasi-static problems and provide key aspects associated to its practical implementation. We highlightits efficiency in the nonlinear context and show its natural ability to generate a hierarchy of meshes oflimited sizes that dynamically follow the evolution over time of studied phenomena.We address generic AMR-related questions associated to dynamic mesh adaptation, such as fields trans-fer between time steps as well as the discretization error control over time. We propose a straightforwardand efficient equilibration strategy lying on the introduction of the initial non equilibrated residual as asource term of the problem. We also develop a reliable remeshing algorithm aiming to limit the numberof mesh regeneration over time while guaranteeing the fulfillment of prescribed errors.Several numerical experiments, in 2D and 3D, with different types of material behavior as well as variableloadings are proposed to validate the efficiency of the developed algorithm.REFERENCES[1] Koliesnikova, D., Ramière, I. and Lebon, F. International audience; A cold crucible induction melter is in operation in La Hague plant, which is operated by ORANO since 2010 for the vitrification of HLW arising from D&D operation and old reprocessing of high Molybdenum content fuel. The well-known advantages of the cold crucible compared to the hot metallic inductive melter are (i) a higher elaboration temperature (ii) an extended lifetime and (iii) a better homogeneity obtained by mechanical stirring and gas bubbling. As a result, the global production capacity is expected to be higher as well as the PM concentration in the glass.A part of the development of this technology is made with the help of numerical simulation of the glass flow and heating by direct Joule effect thanks to the high frequency induction power unit. In this paper, the last effort of 3D modelisation of the Platinum-Group-Metals (PGM) particles behavior in the glass and chemical reaction kinetics of the feed are detailed.During the melting, the glass generally shows a homogeneous liquid phase seeded with non-soluble heavy platinum-group-metal particles mainly made of palladium and ruthenium dioxide. Previous studies [1] reported spatial discrepancies of the local volume fraction of particles in the melt because of particles settling with time. This migration of particles towards less agitated bottom parts of the crucible affects the dynamical, electrical and thermal state of the melt because of concentration-dependent electrical conductivity and viscosity of the suspension. A theoretical one-fluid transport model was developed with the help of small scale experiments carried out with a HLW glass simulant. The model is coupled with existing 3D thermo-hydraulic numerical codes, thus enhancing the precision of heat flux predictions between the melt and the crucible.The feed modelling is also under development. From vitreous precursors (Sodium alumino-borosilicate glass frit) and calcined waste (a mixture of about thirty oxide and nitrate compounds obtained after calcination step), a succession of processes such as impregnation, denitration, crystallization and dis-solution occur in order to solubilize the waste into the vitreous network. Mainly focus on thermal and chemical (0D models) approaches the objective aim at coupling the reaction kinetics laws of thermally activated processes (denitration, crystallization, dissolution) to the magneto-thermo-hydraulic model in order to model both physic and chemistry of glass synthesis. The experimental methodology based on the characterization of thermo-activated reaction kinetics by differential and gravimetric thermal analysis (TGA/DTA) and the kinetic parameters identification (such as activation energy, reaction order, pre-exponential factor) [2] [3] will be described. Moreover, an example of simulation integrating the chemical equation solved with CFD tools will be presented and discussed.

International audience; Crystals are known to affect bubble behavior in natural and industrial oxide glass melts.[1] In volcanology, high crystal contents (c > 30 vol.%) may drastically increase the suspension viscosity, altering bubble dynamics severely enough to modify the eruptive style.[2] During industrial glass production, crystals may affect the process and the final product, if formed in an uncontrolled way. In this work, we investigate in laboratory-scale how a small crystallinity of nano-sized RuO2 (c  2 vol.%) modifies bubble behavior in a melt, generating a cyclic gas-release phenomenon.We conduct a series of experiments on a three-phase system composed of a borosilicate melt, bubbles, and RuO2 crystals. Optical microscopic investigation is performed on the products of thermal treatment at 1000 °C for different durations. Based on viscosity measurements, contact angle measurements, and numerical simulations, we propose a mechanism of entrainment of bubbles carrying crystals to the upper surface accompanied by crystal aggregation, and followed by an increase in viscosity to explain the observed phenomenon.

International audience; Several countries have chosen the recycling of U and Pu in MOX fuels associated to the vitrification of the ultimate wastes composed of fission products (FP) and minor actinides (MA) in silicate glasses. In France, the borosilicate glass known as R7T7 is currently used to confine high-level radioactive waste remaining after reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel, in the perspective of the disposal of the glass canisters in a geological repository. The main challenge is therefore to predict their long-term behavior to ensure the safety of the disposal solution: the glass physical and chemical stabilities over geological timescale must thus be demonstrated, which require to study the glass response to the radiations emitted by the nuclear waste together with its behavior when submitted to water dissolution.This work focuses on the leaching behavior of a chemically simplified borosilicate glass, chosen by the international community, (called ISG as International Simple Glass). Pristine glass coupons were subjected to several external irradiations scenarios (electrons, Au ions, electrons followed by Au ions) to simulate the various irradiation sources of a real radioactive glass, inducing electronic and/or nuclear interactions. For both electron and Au ions irradiations, the doses values have been chosen to induce significant structural and properties evolutions in the glass and they also correspond to the dose level expected under disposal condition when the water will arrive in contact with the glass. Radiation effects on the glass structure and properties have been studied by respectively Raman and NMR spectroscopies, X-ray reflectivity, density, Vickers microindentation hardness and contact angle measurements.Pristine and irradiated glass coupons were then leached for several months in pure water, at 90 °C and at a high surface-area-to-volume ratio (SA/V = 200 cm-1), in order to quickly reach the residual alteration rate regime expected on the long-term under disposal conditions. The alteration layer thickness was monitored by ToF-SIMS to calculate the glass dissolution rate and cryo-TEM was perform to describe the alteration layer nanostructure.The results showed that the electron irradiation induces only small changes of both the structure and properties of the glass, including its alteration behavior. However, the irradiation by Au ions induces significant modifications of ISG glass structure and properties, together with an increase of the glass alteration rate. The results obtained for the sequentially (electrons followed by Au ions) irradiated glass are close to those obtained on the glass irradiated with Au ions only. It suggests that the long term glass leaching is sensitive to the resulting structural changes in the glass caused by the nuclear damage, induced here by Au ions.

International audience; During the melting of raw materials, bubbles are created due to the trapping of atmospheric gasesand the decomposition of mineral species used as batch components. Recent experiments achieved byPereira et al. [1] on glass cullet melting in a small crucible confirm this assumption. The bubble dynamicscan be rescaled by the residence time of a bubble in the crucible directly linked to the temperature viathe dynamical viscosity. A first attempt to model the dynamics of bubble density by taking into accountthe bubble rising and mass transfer between the two phases failed. Cable [2] underlined that bubblecoalescence can play a role in the dynamics at the early times of the process.To rationalize the influence of mass transfer and coalescence, a population balance equation is derivedto study the dynamics of bubbles in a glass forming liquid. According to the nomenclature of Hulburtand Katz [3], internal coordinates are the radius, and the Ng-1 molar fractions of the Ng gas speciesdissolved either physically or chemically in the glass forming liquid. The coalescence kernel is determinedby taking into account the velocity difference of the bubble rising in the crucible. A collision efficiencybased on the dynamics of film drainage between two bubbles is also derived according to Guémas et al.[4]. The temporal behaviours of the dissolved gas are also included in the theoretical model.A Direct Quadrature Method of Moments (DQMOM) [5] is used to solve numerically the populationbalance equation. In this method, the size distribution function is decomposed over N discrete Diracdistributions characterised by its weight with and its abscissa. The descriptionof the 2N first moments allows to determine 2N balance equations.This systemis coupled to the balance equations of Ng-1 molar fractions in each discrete distribution and to theNg molar concentrations of gas species dissolved in the liquid. The whole system is numerically solvedusing a Runge-Kutta method at the fourth order. Initially, the bubble size is distributed according to alog-normal distribution.The numerical results are compared to Experimental data showing that coalescence is important at shorttime mainly due to the fact that the bubble population is dense. In a such case, the coalescence efficiency is relevant. When the bubble population decreases enough, coalescence events are scarce. Thedynamics of the bubble is limited to the removing from the free surface of the crucible.

There are very few resources for semantic similarity in the clinical domain in French. Herein, we introduce a definition of similarity guided by clinical facts and apply it to the development of a new shared corpus of 1,000 sentence pairs manually annotated with similarity scores. We evaluate the corpus through experiments of automatic similarity measurement. We show that a model of sentence embeddings can capture similarity with state of the art performance on the DEFT STS shared task data set (Spearman=0.8343). We also show that CLISTER is complementary to DEFT STS.; Le TAL repose sur la disponibilité de corpus annotés pour l'entraînement et l'évaluation de modèles. Il existe très peu de ressources pour la similarité sémantique dans le domaine clinique en français. Recent approaches for event detection rely on deep supervised learning, which requires large manually annotated corpora. In the new approaches that are developed for few shot learning, we focus on meta-learning with a BERT encoder for the task. Specifically, we aim at optimizing the use of the information contained in the different layers of a pretrained BERT and show that simple strategies can be efficient and outperform the current state of the art for this task in English, Les méthodes actuelles pour la détection d'évènements, qui s'appuient essentiellement sur l'apprentissage supervisé profond, s'avèrent très coûteuses en données annotées. Parmi les approches pour l'apprentissage à partir de peu de données, nous exploitons dans cet article le méta-apprentissage et l'utilisation de l'encodeur BERT pour cette tâche. Plus particulièrement, nous explorons plusieurs stratégies pour mieux exploiter les informations présentes dans les différentes couches d'un modèle BERT pré-entraîné et montrons que ces stratégies simples permettent de dépasser les résultats de l'état de l'art pour cette tâche en anglais.

International audience; L’industrie du nucléaire est à l’origine d’un certain nombre de déchets qu’il est nécessaire de traiter et de conditionner,parmi lesquels des déchets de type boue. Ces déchets complexes sont définis comme une suspension de particules solides dans unfluide généralement aqueux. Comprendre le comportement sous écoulement de ces matériaux par une étude rhéologique estessentiel à la conception de procédés de reprise et de conditionnement de ces déchets radioactifs. Les procédés de traitement parcoprécipitation d’effluent liquide radioactif sont une des principales sources de boue dans la filière nucléaire. Les premiers travauxde cette thèse se focalisent sur l’étude d’un simulant non radioactif d’une boue de coprécipitation. Cette boue peut être apparentée àune suspension de particules insolubles à composition et granulométrie large qui sont dispersées dans une phase neutre aqueuseprésentant une grande force ionique et contenant principalement des ions Na+, NO3-et SO42-. Diverses techniques de séparation dephase et d’analyse physico-chimique (ICP, chromatographie ionique, MEB, SAXS, DRX, FX, granulométrie laser) sont utiliséesafin de cartographier précisément les propriétés du simulant. Un cisaillement sinusoïdal à amplitude de déformation variablepermet de déterminer le domaine linéaire de réponse viscoélastique. L’écoulement est étudié en observant la réponse du matériau àune contrainte fixe, en appliquant une contrainte variable et en observant le gradient de cisaillement, ou vice-versa. La thixotropieest sondée grâce à des courbes d’écoulement établies avec des temps de mesure variables, ou alors en laissant la boue se reposer untemps donné avant d’appliquer une contrainte variable. Cette boue apparaît alors comme un matériau à seuil légèrement thixotropequi se restructure sur des temps inférieurs à 5 min. La réponse observée dépend de la géométrie utilisée (Couette, Vane, RubanDouble hélice), et il peut alors être intéressant d’imager l’écoulement dans l’entrefer avec des ultrasons de diagnostic

International audience; Within the framework of numerical homogeneization approaches, we focus on the effectof boundary conditions (BCs) on local mechanical fields computed by the Finite Ele-ment method. The influence of classical BCs (affine displacements, periodic conditions)imposed on the Representative Volume Element (RVE) has been largely studied with re-spect to the effective macroscopic behaviour [1]. When a periodic microstructure can begenerated at the RVE scale (periodic or model materials typically), periodic conditionsproduce more accurate results. However, these conditions come with technical difficultieslinked to the generation of the periodic mesh and additional costs in terms of computationtime.In a multiscale use of numerical homogenization [2], local fields are of great importance todetect phenomena arising at the local scale. Moreover these fields must be computed inreasonable calculation times to make these numerical coupling approaches efficient. Veryfew studies focus on the effects of the BCs on the local behaviour. International audience; Nuclear power production generates radioactive waste, the management of which is an important industrial and environmental issue. Low - or intermediate - level radioactive aqueous waste can be concentrated by evaporation, stabilized and solidified with Portland cement before being sent to disposal. Interactions can however occur between the waste and the cement phases or aggregates, and decrease the stability of the final waste forms.The formation of a gel-like product, which results from an alkali-aggregate reaction, has been recently observed at the surface of cemented drums of evaporator concentrates. Its properties differ however from those usually reported for alkali-silica gels: (i) very low calcium concentration, (ii) significant presence of Zn2⁺, Cl⁻, B(OH)4⁻ and SO42⁻ ions, (iii) high formation rate, (iv) rather limited damage of the cementitious matrix considering the amount of gel produced. This work investigates the progress of alkali-silica reaction in the cemented drums at early age, by studying the deterioration rate of the aggregates in model systems.A synthetic alkaline solution, which mimics the pore solution including the waste, was used to degrade the siliceous aggregates under controlled conditions. Determination of the extent of degradation caused by alkali-silica reaction was achieved by weighing the residual flint aggregates and by quantifying their deterioration state by 29Si NMR, BET and gas pycnometry.

International audience; High-electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs) based on AlGaN/GaN heterostructures are being developed for high power electronic. The presence of a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) at the AlGaN/GaN interface enables reaching high electron mobility (>1500 cm$^2$.V-1.s-1). For safety and reliability reasons, normally-off HEMTs are requested and can be obtained by the full recess approach, based on the removal of the AlGaN layer underneath the gate. The dielectric (Al$_2$O$_3$) and metal gate are directly deposited on the etched GaN surface to create a metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) structure, giving rise to the so-called MIS-HEMTs. The final devices properties strongly depend on the quality of the buried Al$_2$O$_3$/GaN interface. Advanced chemical characterization of this critical interface is thus mandatory. Laboratory HAXPES has recently appeared and its use is quickly rising for optimizing technological devices [3]. It is here a promising technique to investigate a more realistic Al$_2$O$_3$/GaN interface, e. g. with a thick Al$_2$O$_3$ layer. We have developed specific protocols to investigate the impact of Al$_2$O$_3$ thickness, precursors and post-deposition anneal on the GaN surface oxidation and stoichiometry.

Ensuring the proper thermal performance of a building’s envelope upon reception is an importantstage in the life cycle of the building. Several methods already exist for this purpose, and consist of heating theinterior of the measured building. These measurement’s protocols quantify the dynamic evolution of indoor andoutdoor temperatures, and the thermal power injected into the building. These methods require a difference of afew degrees between the interior and the exterior, which can cause in summer periods a risk of damaging thebuilding as the outside temperature may already be high. The objective of this work is to explore the possibility ofdetermining the intrinsic thermal performance of a building’s envelope in the summer period using a cooling system.Some encouraging experiments were conducted on a one square meter scale cell in an indoor environment. Thefocus of this paper is to test a similar method in an outdoor Passys test cell of 40m3 and to explore the capacitiesand limitations of the method at this scale. Results in cooling mode are comparable to different heating modesacting as reference and first results with and without condensation phenomena are studied., S'assurer de la bonne performance thermique d'une enveloppe d'un bâtiment à réception d'un chantier, que ce soit dans le neuf ou en rénovation, est une étape importante dans le cycle de vie du bâtiment. Plusieurs méthodes d'évaluation de la performance d'enveloppe existent et présentent le point commun de solliciter le bâtiment à l'aide d'un système de chauffage. Ces méthodes nécessitent un écart d'au moins quelques degrés entre l'intérieur et l'extérieur, écart qui ne peut être atteint en période de forte chaleur sans risque de dégrader le logement. Des premières expérimentations ont montré la faisabilité d'une méthode de détermination de la performance thermique intrinsèque d'une cellule de 1m3 en climat intérieur contrôlé via un système de refroidissement. L'objectif du travail présenté ici est de passer à l'échelle supérieure et de se placer en extérieur. Ce travail s'appuie sur des expérimentations réalisées dans une cellule ASSYS rénovée (de l'ordre de 40m3 ) et explore les capacités et limites de la méthode à cette échelle. Une partie des résultats obtenus est comparable à ceux obtenus avec un système de chauffage et des premiers résultats avec et sans condensation ont pu être étudiés.

International audience; Li-ion batteries are considered as the most suitable electrochemical energy storage systems for a wide range of applications including stationary applications, when combined with renewable energy harvested systems, and automotive applications with the electrification of transportation, in order to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions responsible for climate change1.Indeed, Li-ion batteries combine high specific energy and power, long cyclelife, high efficiency, high charge/discharge rate capability and low self-discharge. In addition, it is a versatile technology easily adaptable to the application by playing with the electrode materials and electrolyte composition.2-3However, most commercial Li-ion batteries widely use organic carbonates electrolyte containing Li salt which is volatile, flammable and can induce thermal runaway in case of inner short-circuit.4 In order to make the battery safer, CEA-Liten and Solvay have developed a new technology based on hybrid polymer lithium battery, where the organic carbonates electrolyte is confined in a hybrid polymer membrane as well as in gelled electrodes from their manufacturing.Hybrid polymer membrane is prepared by using a non-aqueous solgel route. A new Solvay proprietary functionalized PVdF is able to react and create a stable network able to trap fully the organic carbonate electrolyte. The membrane elaborated by a two-step cross-linking method and implemented by using roll-to-roll coating machine, shows homogeneous structure coupled with high ionic conductivity and high flexibility when LiPF6 (1M) in a carbonate mix is used.The gelled electrodes are prepared by using a second Solvay proprietary functionalized PVdF as binder, which is able to trap the organic carbonate electrolyte in the electrode microstructure. Gelled electrodes are produced according to conventional electrode manufacturing process (i.e using mixing, coating and calendering machines). Thus, gelled graphite based anode and gelled NMC622 based cathode are produced at the pilot line scale in anhydrous atmosphere, using LiPF6 (1M) in a carbonate mix. In addition, the technology allows producing high loading electrodes (5mAh/cm² typically for the gelled cathode) with suitable mechanical properties adapted for winding. No damage was observed regarding the integrity of the gelled electrodes at each manufacturing step. Proof of concept of the technology was carried out by assembling the gelled electrodes with the hybrid polymer membrane (without any addition of additional electrolyte) in various cell sizes and formats: from single layer pouch to 1 Ah stacked cell, prismatic cell or even 18650 cylindrical cell, leading to relevant electrochemical performances. In addition, the retention of the organic carbonate electrolyte has shown unequivocally a benefit effect on the safety, highlighted by calorimetry analysis and some abusive tests.New process is today under investigations in order to manufacture the hybrid polymer membrane as well as the gelled electrodes without the any process solvent, than those used in the organic carbonate electrolyte. This way allows simplifying considerably the cell manufacturing process, increasing the safety and reducing the cost and the environmental footprint because no solvent is evaporated and recovered, as it is the case with conventional Li-ion batteries.

Samples were taken from the concrete specimen and were observed at the micrometric scale using a scanning electron microscope coupled with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EDX). The aggregates contained in the concrete were then mechanically and chemically retrieved, before being characterized by TGA.The model medium allows highlighting the advanced dissolution of the flint constitutive of the aggregates, leaving intact the most crystalline fraction of the grains. These results comply with the observations led on aggregates extracted from concrete samples, using SEM-EDX. Using this model medium,high degradation extent of the aggregates can be achieved. Indeed, the degradation progress of aggregates in concrete medium after 18 months could be reached in only a few hours using the model medium

International audience; La carbonatation correspond à la réaction entre le Ca présent dans les matériaux cimentaires et le CO2 de l'atmosphère. Il s'agit d'un phénomène connu de longue date. Cependant, des études récentes montrent qu'au delà de la baisse du pH et la corrosion des armatures, elle entraine une micro-fissuration. Cette keynote détailles les mécanismes à l'origine de cette micro-fissuration ainsi que les conséquences sur les propriétés de transport dans les matériaux cimentaires.

International audience; Mortars based on geopolymers have been proposed for the conditioning of several nuclear waste types, including magnesium-alloy scraps that are presently stored in legacy nuclear facilities. The qualification of the embedding process requires the confirmation that, during the setting of the geo-polymer matrix, the temperature rise does not exceed a threshold where adversarial consequences could be observed, such as increased scrap corrosion (accompanied with hydrogen production) or structural matrix disorders.An experimental qualification campaign has culminated in 2020 with the pouring of a large geopoly-mer mortar quantity (2.7 m$^3$) in an industrial-size cubic container, and the monitoring of the ensuing temperature transients inside the paste and on the package walls. In this paper, we present a numer-ical thermal model based on finite elements, we justify the hypothesis and adopted material parame-ters, and we compare the obtained simulated transients with the experimental result. The comparison between the measured temperatures and the calculated ones is rather acceptable. The agreement regarding the maximum temperature inside the mortar is especially satisfactory.

International audience; The die-formed expanded graphite is used in industry for sealing applications subjected to extreme pressure and temperature. Its chemical inertness, excellent elastic recovery and adaptability to damaged flanges serves the sealing function. However, in some cases, the high load required for tightening leads to significant mechanical effects related to flanges bending or radial thrust. To address this effect and support the implementation of graphite seals investigations are performed to identify a constitutive model for that specific material and describe the interaction of these seals with their environment [1]. Instrumented axial die-compaction tests are performed to characterize the load-compression curve as well as the radial pressure from the sample [2], [3]. A methodology is then developed for the identification of the coefficients related to the constitutive model, assuming a Drucker-Prager Cap model, and especially the hardening behaviour, which drives the seals compression and unloading curves. The work is based on a parametric optimization and a numerical simulation close to the test device itself. The identified model is finally used for graphite seals simulation, to address mechanical interactions with their environment and comparison with tests performed with dedicated instrumented seals validate its relevance.

International audience; Direct bonding has been a major key technology in many fields nowadays. From microelectronic to optoelectronic technologies, it became a technique used for mass production technology in many different applications. Direct bonding of silicon or silicon dioxide is now a well known process. In this article, we explore this technology through the transfer of III-V AlGaAs/GaAs crystalline multilayer from its native GaAs substrate upon a fused silica substrate (SiO2). The goal of this work is to explore the conception of crystalline Bragg mirrors with low mechanical loss and high optical quality for precision measurement applications.We present the main results obtained for each step of the transfer process. Various experiment such as AFM characterization have been performed on the wafers to probe surface quality. Chemical wet etching with different experimental conditions have been tested to remove the GaAs substrate. We discuss the main challenges of the process, especially the bonding of two rather different materials from the thermo-mechanic point of view. Focus is also made on the chemistry used in the wet etching part to have a selective etching between GaAs and AlGaAs.

International audience; Despite many improvements, PEMFC systems still suffer technological limitations, such as their initial cost and overall durability in real life operation, which prevents widespread industrial deployment. Some of these limitations can be overcome by combining experiments and modeling to characterize and better understand the behaviour of the carbon-supported platinum (Pt/C) electrocatalyst, its utiliza-tion/effectiveness in PEMFC catalyst layers and to be able to predict the performance and durability of PEMFC. This should help making the most relevant choices to accelerate the development processes of PEMFC.In this work, physico-chemical and electrochemical measurements are performed from the scale of the raw Pt/C materials up to the complete catalyst layer, to gather as much information as possible on the catalytic layer micro-structure and its operating properties. Coupling experiments in classic RDE and in PEMFC differential-single cell (1.8 cm² under high reactant stoichiometry) enables to fully characterize the electrochemical properties and behaviour of our materials. During experimental performance meas-urements, reversible performance gains/losses can be observed. This behaviour is often ascribed to variable hydration state of the ionomer in the catalyst layer and the bulk membrane and also to the evolution of platinum surface states due to oxides partial formation/reduction.In parallel; several models have been developed to simulate one or combined mechanisms leading to the performance1 and degradation of cell components2,3. Based on our experimental work and data sets, the behaviour of the Pt/C electrocatalysts has been studied in order to introduce new electrocata-lytic features and especially the Pt surface oxide formation and reduction which is linked to Pt surface state as well as Pt bulk oxide formation via chemical place exchange reaction. This preliminary step was then further developed into a complete performance model for the O2 reduction reaction at the cathode to better describe the physical and electrochemical phenomenon involved in catalyst layers during fuel cell operation. With this new description, the position of the main adsorption/desorption peaks monitored by CV under inert atmosphere and the hysteresis phenomenon on the polarization plot during real fuel cell operation are well captured by the simulation compared to experiment keeping complete physical meaning.

International audience; Dans l'objectif de la lutte contre les Chevaux de Troie Matériels, nous proposons d'optimiser une méthode appelé Strong Logic Locking. La mesure de sécurité de cette méthode se base sur les cliques d'un graphe de relation, plus les cliques sont grandes et nombreuses, meilleure sera la sécurité. Nous proposons deux approches pour modéliser et résoudre ce problème.

International audience; During the years 2018 and 2019 of the ASTRID program, a simulation program on SFRs has been prepared by the CEA and its industrial partners, EDF and Framatome, featuring sketch studies of a smaller-size SFR with extended experimental purposes. The core power has been reduced to 150 MWe to minimize investment costs. The design of the core and the fuel sub-assemblies (S/As) is evolutive over the reactor lifetime to demonstrate the feasibility of Pu multi-recycling and to qualify concepts and technologies expected for the future industrial SFRs. This paper presents sketch design studies of fuel S/As for a 150 MWe SFR, at the end of 2019. The hexagonal wrapper tube can host either a 169-SPX-type-pins bundle or a 127-ASTRID-type-pins bundle. The thermomechanical behaviour of the fuel bundle has been calculated with DOMAJEUR code. The lower gas plenum of the fuel pins has been reduced thanks to simulations with GERMINAL fuel performance code. The upper neutron shielding is made of steel and B4C rings housed in a leaktight compartment to stay compatible with the washing process, while limiting the secondary sodium activation and the irradiation level of diversified absorber rods electromagnet.

International audience; Many developments are currently in progress towards new threat detection technologies for security-related applications. In particular, the photofission technique can be applied to detect Special Nuclear Material (SNM) hidden inside cargo containers, which can potentially be used to make nuclear weapons or dirty bombs. This technique relies on detecting prompt and delayed neutrons and gamma rays emitted by the photofission reaction for which the energy threshold is around 6 MeV for plutonium and uranium isotopes. In the frame of the H2020 ENTRANCE project and following the H2020 C-BORD project, CEA List is investigating the performance of the photofission technique using a linear electron accelerator (linac) operated at 7 MeV, i.e. delivering photons with energies not far above the threshold of the reaction of interest. One of the aim is to couple the photofission technique with compact linacs embeded in mobile X-ray scanning systems used by customs for control at borders. Moreover, we investigate the potentialities of triple-discriminating plastic scintillators for the detection of SNM with such systems. These detectors are manufactured by the laboratory and are based on $^6$Li-doped plastic scintillators which allows them to discriminate between gamma-rays, thermal neutrons and fast neutrons by Pulsed Shape Discrimination (PSD). Thus, they could potentially measure simultaneously both the neutron and gamma signatures from SNM and enable to overcome the challenges met when measuring the low signals expected due to the fact that the photofission cross-section values reach a few millibarns between 6 and 7 MeV. First, the PSD capabilities and scintillation yields of these new detectors are characterized in the laboratory environment using a $^{252}$Cf source. Then, we perform measurements at the SAPHIR platform located at CEA Paris-Saclay with the 9 MeV linac available and several SNM samples. Neutron sensitivity as well as detection limits are then compared to reference measurements carried out with a high-density polyethylene detection block housing five 150NH100 $^3$He detectors. In parallel, we implemented an MCNP6 Monte Carlo simulation model of the experimental setup at 9 MeV. Once validated, this model is used to assess the performance of triple-discriminating plastic scintillators for photofission measurements carried out at 7 MeV. In collaboration with Smiths Detection, field tests are planned in 2023 at the seaport of Rijeka, Croatia, with different cargo matrices and a 7 MeV mobile X-ray scanner equipped with triple-discriminating plastic scintillators.

International audience; La massification de la rénovation est en enjeu clé de la transition énergétique. BPIE estime qu'il faut passer d'un taux de rénovation lourde du parc de bâtiments de 1 à 3% par an pour atteindre les objectifs fixés par les politiques publiques. Cet article est un retour d'expérience de la mise en œuvre d'une solution de rénovation industrialisée via le concept ES'OPE sur une maison expérimentale. Après avoir décrit le concept ES'OPE et son implémentation sur le cas d'étude de la maison expérimentale I-BB de la plateforme INCAS située à l'INES, les scénarios mis en œuvre pour valider la performance des systèmes et de l'enveloppe sont présentés. Les résultats des premières campagnes sont ensuite détaillés et une première comparaison des résultats expérimentaux et des simulations réalisées est détaillée en s'intéressant plus particulièrement au coefficient de déperdition de l'enveloppe (HLC et HTR) et à l'évolution de température intérieure.

International audience; The immobilization of highly radioactive waste using vitrification process has been in application since many decades (1). This process is now under investigation for conditioning Intermediate Level and Long Life Waste (ILW-LL) using aluminosilicate glasses as host matrices. The vitrification must be able to maintain, within a certain range of compositions and redox potential, the actinides solubility. It is known that uranium chemistry is complex in glass-forming systems due to the presence of many oxidation states (VI, V, IV) (2).This paper presents the uranium solubility study in aluminosilicate glass melts as a function of melt composition and oxido-reduction potential (oxygen fugacity) (Figure 1). Ternary SiO2-Al2O3-CaO (CAS) and SiO2-Al2O3-MgO (MAS) systems are considered. In those glasses, Al content is increased while keeping the Si/Ca and Si/Mg ratio constant. Further XANES analyses on selected samples have allowed the precise quantification of uranium oxidation states. The specific experimental methodology is detailed and solubility results combined with uranium valencies data are discussed on a thermodynamic point of view.

Les matériaux céramiques obtenus par frittage présentent une porosité qui peut être plus ou moins marquée et dont les caractéristiques morphologiques varient fortement d'un matériau à l'autre. Cette porosité peut avoir une forte influence sur leur comportement thermique en dégradant leur conductivité thermique. Il est alors important de comprendre précisément le rôle que joue cette porosité sur le comportement thermique de ces matériaux. Les matériaux étudiés sont des céramiques de dioxyde d'Uranium (UO2) susceptibles de présenter un réseau de porosité très développé à l'issu du frittage. Pour les céramiques caractérisées ici, ce réseau se particularise par la présence d'une porosité de forme fine et allongée qui peut être assimilée à un réseau de fissures. Cette porosité est appelée porosité "filamentaire" en référence à sa forme. Un modèle numérique a été développé pour évaluer l'influence de la porosité de céramiques UO2 sur leur comportement thermique. Ce modèle repose sur des simulations numériques par champs complets (méthode FFT) réalisées sur des microstructures synthétiques. Pour que le modèle prédise correctement la conductivité thermique de ces céramiques, il est essentiel que les microstructures synthétiques soient fidèles aux microstructures des céramiques étudiées. Par rapport aux microstructures synthétiques de référence, présentées dans des travaux antérieurs, de nouvelles considérations sont faites. Sont notamment étudiés, la possibilité de considérer une distribution bimodale de taille de granulats ainsi qu'une orientation préférentielle de la porosité. L'influence de ces deux ingrédients sur les paramètres morphologiques des microstructures sont ensuite évalués en comparant les résultats obtenus par caractérisation sur ces microstructures à ceux obtenus sur les microstructures de référence et sur les microstructures des céramiques étudiées. L'influence d'une distribution bimodale de taille de granulats et d'une orientation préférentielle de la porosité sur le comportement thermique des différentes microstructures est également évalué en réalisant des simulations numériques 2D (méthode FFT) sur des coupes des microstructures. Les simulations thermiques caractérisent ainsi le comportement de microstructures virtuelles présentant des fissures rubans (infinies dans la direction opposée au plan d'observation), ce qui exacerbe l'effet de ces fissures sur les propriétés thermiques simulées.

International audience; La matrice d'un échantillon est définie par l'IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) comme les composants de l'échantillon autres que l'analyte. Et l'effet de matrice d'une technique analytique désignent alors l'effet combiné de tous les composants autres que l'analyte sur la mesure de sa quantité. Chose que l'on peut visualiser, par exemple, sur des droites d'étalonnage de pente différente pour différentes matrices. En LIBS, ces effets se traduisent physiquement par une interaction laser-surface et laser-plasma dépendant de la nature du matériau analysé, et induisant des variations de masse ablatée, de température et de densité électroniques d'un échantillon à un autre. Sous l'hypothèse de l'équilibre thermodynamique local, la caractérisation de ces trois paramètres permet donc en principe de s'affranchir de ces effets, et cette approche est à la base des méthodes de quantification sans étalonnage .Contrairement à la masse ablatée qui peut être mesurée en observant les cratères, la température et la densité électroniques sont généralement déterminées par des méthodes spectroscopiques. Les plus répandues sont, pour Te, le graphe de Boltzmann, pour Ne, l'équation de Saha-Boltzmann ou l'élargissement Stark. Ces méthodes reposent sur la mesure de certaines raies bien choisies. Les critères de choix sont connus (énergie d'excitation, absence d'interférence, d'auto-absorption…) mais pas toujours simples à mettre en pratique. Cependant, les négliger peut conduire à des biais significatifs sur le plan analytique. De plus, le choix qui en résulte dépend justement de la matrice. C'est pourquoi, alors que les effets de matrice sont très souvent cités dans la littérature sur la LIBS, il est très difficile de trouver des données comparables de température et densité électronique d'une matrice à l'autre.Cette présentation abordera trois questions, illustrées dans le cas des métaux. 1. Pourquoi s'attacher à caractériser précisément le plasma d'ablation laser ? 2. Quels sont les écueils à éviter ? 3. Quelle est l'étendue réelle des effets de matrice ? Pour y répondre, nous introduirons la méthode standardisée de caractérisation du plasma que nous avons mise au point, méthode basée sur un dépôt d'électrolyte en surface de l'échantillon

International audience; The ternary Cr-Mo-Ti system is a constitutive alloying system for steels and titanium alloys. Ferritic alloys with Cr, Mo and Ti contents have been studied, achieving good mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and microstructural stability to 550°C. Beta titanium alloys are nowadays largely employed in biomedical applications, and aviation and aerospace industries. The system is also interesting for the development of new high-entropy alloys with a body-centered cubic structure. The Calphad method is a useful tool to explore and study all these alloy systems.Nevertheless, the experimental data about this ternary system remains scarce and no recent data was published. Thermodynamical assessments were carried out by Lee et al.[1] and recently by Hu et al. [2]. The first assessment was based on the solid phase boundaries in the Ti-rich region published by Elliot et al. [3]. In the respective re-assessment, they added with a low weight data from Grum-Grizhimailo and Gromova [4].Therefore, we will study the Laves phase extension in the ternary Cr-Mo-Ti system. DFT calculation will be used in order to obtain the enthalpy of formation of the metastable end-members. Cumulate data will be evaluated and used to re-assess the ternary system.References[1] J. Y. International audience; In France, bitumen was chosen during the 60's as an efficient embedding material for low and medium activity nuclear waste (sludges), owing to its high chemical inertness, impermeability, and confining ability. In the scope of the nuclear safety process, the thermal behavior of these bituminized sludges should be investigated during their whole life: it is thus crucial to study the physicochemical and thermochemical phenomena involved when they are exposed to heat. Thermogravimetric analysis coupled to differential thermal analysis was used to assess kinetic parameters related to reactions that occur when these materials are exposed to non-isothermal heat conditions, in various atmospheres (nitrogen, air). Firstly, a simplified system, pure bitumen, was studied. The degree of complexity of the studied system was then increased, by taking into account salts present in significant quantities in the nuclear sludges, in particular sodium nitrate.Under nitrogen atmosphere, pure bitumen shows a single thermal event, which is attributed to its pyrolysis. Under air, it undergoes three exothermal and one endothermal events that result from combustion and cracking reactions, respectively. Under nitrogen, bitumen embedding sodium nitrate shows an exothermic peak due to the combustion reaction of the bitumen by the nitrates. Activation energy for each event has been determined using several kinetic methods from non-isothermal heat conditions.

This process is now under investigation for conditioning Intermediate Level Waste - Long Life (ILW-LL) using aluminosilicate glasses as host matrices. The vitrification must be able to maintain, within a certain range of composition and redox potential, the actinides solubility. It is known that uranium chemistry is complex in glass-forming systems due to the presence of many oxidation states (VI, V, IV), each of them having a specific solubility in melts.The aim of this work is to determine and model uranium solubility and its oxidation states as a function of the glass melt composition and oxidoreduction potential (oxygen fugacity, from 10-0.7 atm to 10-16 atm). The ternary SiO2-Al2O3-CaO (CAS) and SiO2-Al2O3-MgO (MAS) systems are studied. Different compositions are synthesized by modifying the Al content for each ternary system. Uranium is added in excess in order to reach an equilibrium between the melt and uranium oxide crystals.This presentation will give results on the behaviour of uranium over a large redox range. The results of uranium solubility (SEM/EDS) as a function of oxygen fugacity as well as a function of Al2O3 content will be presented (example on Figure 1). Analyses of uranium oxide crystals (XRD) were carried out. The proportion of uranium oxidation states was determined by XANES while their different structures were analysed by EXAFS. Hypotheses on the differences in behaviour between the two systems CAS and MAS will be formulated.

International audience; L’analyse isotopique de solide est utilisée dans différents domaines tels que la géochimie,l’archéologie, la biochimie et les énergies. Les approches classiques généralement mises en œuvrecomprennent des étapes préalables de préparation et de conditionnement des échantillons. Cesétapes peuvent induire des incertitudes sur le résultat obtenu et rallongent les délais d’analyse. C’estpourquoi, les méthodes d’analyse directe sont développées avec parmi elles l’ablation laser. Cettetechnique permet la détermination de la composition d’un échantillon solide grâce à la création d’unplasma et peut aisément être couplée à d’autres méthodes de caractérisation.Cette présentation met l’accent sur les méthodes spectroscopiques couplées à l’ablation laser pourl’analyse isotopique de solides. Un intérêt particulier est porté aux techniques permettant l’analyse àpression atmosphérique donc potentiellement employables en ligne ou utilisables sur le terrain tellesque la LIBS (Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy), la LAMIS (Laser Ablation Molecular IsotopicSpectrometry) et la LIBRIS (Laser-Induced Breakdown self-Reversal Isotopic Spectrometry).Cependant, sous pression ambiante le décalage spectral entre les raies de deux isotopes estgénéralement faible par rapport à l’élargissement spectral induit par le plasma. Les techniques LAMISet LIBRIS visent à contourner cette limitation, en mesurant respectivement l’émission moléculaireplutôt que l’émission atomique, ou la longueur d’onde du creux d’absorption d’une raie renversée.La faisabilité de la technique LIBRIS a été montrée dans le cas de l’analyse isotopique du lithium. Undes axes de recherche actuel sur la technique réside dans son développement pour l’analyse et lacompréhension à différentes échelles des mécanismes de déplacement du lithium dans lesélectrolytes solides, entrant dans la composition des batteries de quatrième génération. L’une des méthodes employées pour cela est le traçage isotopique du lithium. Pour ce faire, un développement instrumental et paramétrique est mis en œuvre afin de quantifier le rapport isotopique du lithium dans des matériaux de batteries à l’échelle micrométrique par la technique LIBRIS, en complément des techniques utilisées aujourd’hui telles que la RMN ou la TOF-SIMS. L’objectif à terme est dedévelopper un système d’analyse isotopique du lithium à pression atmosphérique, rapide et à hauterésolution spatiale utilisant la technologie LIBRIS.

International audience; Sr-90 is, with Cs-137, one of the main radioactive fission product occurring in nuclear power plants in terms of abundance proportion. This radionuclide can thus be present in significant amount in spent nuclear fuel or in radioactive waste from nuclear reactors. In the context of the increase of the number of decommissioning and dismantling operations in nuclear facilities, a reliable and rapid determination of Sr-90 is of prime interest for the characterization of all types of radioactive waste (effluents, ion exchange resins, concretes, sludges…). Sr-90 has a half-life of 28.8 years and emits beta particles of relatively high energy (maximum energy of 546 keV). It disintegrates into Y-90 which is also a pure β-emitter (maximum energy of 2280 keV) with a half-life of 2.67 days. Sr-90 needs to be purified from interfering analytes through selective radiochemical separations before any reliable detection. It can be directly measured or indirectly evaluated from Y-90 growth. Both radionuclides are often measured by gas flow proportional counting and liquid scintillation counting (LSC). The separation yield is determined from stable strontium carrier by inductively coupled plasma (ICP) techniques or gravimetry. Two main radiochemical methods for Sr-90 determination are generally implemented1: Sr precipitation in highly concentrated nitric acid or extraction chromatography on Sr-resin®. Both procedures are robust and selective to provide accurate measurement of Sr-90 in radioactive samples. However, they involve the use of harmful chemical substances, respectively fuming nitric acid and liquid scintillation cocktails for LSC detection. Both reagents are in the scope of European REACH regulation and have to be removed from use as much as possible. The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate the feasibility of accurate Sr-90 measurement in radioactive waste without the use of toxic chemical reagents. The presentation will first focus on the optimization of a precipitation method by applying a design of experiments methodology2. The implemented strategy induces the replacement of fuming nitric acid (above 82 % concentration) by concentrated nitric acid (69 % concentration) while maintaining high separation yield and improving the selectivity towards calcium which is the main interfering analyte of this method. Secondly, the presentation will deal with the implementation of plastic scintillation resin3 (noted PS resin) to avoid the use of liquid scintillation cocktails. A method based on a PS resin selective towards Sr was optimized so as to achieve high decontamination factors towards interfering radionuclides, in particular Pu-241 β-emitter. For both developed purification methods, the validation step is performed by comparing the results obtained on different types of radioactive waste (effluents, concretes and sludges) with the ones obtained with the reference method of the laboratory based on fuming nitric acid. The selectivity of both methods is also evaluated by checking Y-90 growth (see Figure 1).
