Background & aim: Cervical cancer is the second leading cause of death in women in Iran. Papillomavirus infection is the most important risk factor for developing cervical cancer. Ca SKi cell is a human cervical carcinoma cell that attaches the papillomavirus type 16 to its genome. Catechin is a phenol and a secondary metabolite of a plant. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of catechin metabolites derived from intestinal microbiota on the proliferative capacity of Ca SKi cell line. Methods: In the present in vitro experimental study, catechin metabolites were extracted from fecal samples containing intestinal microbiota by HPLC method and cell line was treated with different concentrations of catechin for 24 and 48 hours. The cytotoxic effects of Ca SKi bacterial cell extract were investigated by MTT assay. After RNA extraction and cDNA preparation, the expression of bax, bcl2 gene in Ca SKi cell line was examined by Real Time PCR. Data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance Results: No significant associaton was obsereved with increasing bax gene expression and the effective dose of catechin in the first 72 hours (p> 0.05), but with increasing dose effect, a significant increase in bax gene expression was seen. The results indicated that the expression of bcl2 gene was significantly related to the increase in the effective dose of catechin in the first 72 hours. This change was decreasing and had a direct relationship with the effective dose. Conclusion: Catechin may increase the expression of BCL2 in cancer cells, which could be used as a treatment as well as prevention of cervical cancer and bax gene as a prognosis in cervical cancer to develop a new therapeutic effect.

Enterococci have important role in the dairy industry. Also some of enterococcies with dairy origin have been reported as probiotics. The aim of this study is isolate and identify enterococcies from traditional dairy products of Meshkinshahr and Moghan(Ardabil) regions and evaluate the potential probiotic of them. In the presence of phosphate saline buffer (PH equal to 5/2) 26 acid resistant isolates and in the presence of bile salts, 10 resistant isolates, 7 isolates with high tolerance, 6 isolates with poor tolerance and 3 susceptible isolates were identified. Biochemical identification showed isolates belonging to species of E.avium, E.faecium, E.durans and E.faecalis. Also antagonistic activity was investigated with well diffusion method showed that isolates with inhibitory ability against Escherichia coli are Yersinia enterocolitica and Listeria innocua. Susceptibility study to various antibiotics showed that all strains were susceptible to vancomycin and chloramphenicol. Also all of them were resistant to solfamethacsazol. The results indicate that traditional dairy products of these regions are important source for organisms with probiotic properties.

Humulus lupulus is a medicinal plant which in Farsi is called "razak". The purpose of this research is, studying the sedative effects of polar, semi polar and non polar fractions extracted from Hop (Humulus lupulus. L) in comparison with diazepam in the animal model of Rat. For conducting this research polar, semi polar and non polar fractions extracted from Hop based on the polarity of solvent. Then study continued with the injection of obtained extracts and other medicines to different groups of Wistar breed of rats. First group was injected with 100mg/kg of Polar fraction extract the second group, with 100mg/kg of Semipolar extract, the third group, with 100 mg/kg of non-polar extract of Humulus lupulus the fourth group with 2 mg/kg of Diazepam the fifth group with the same volume of DMSO used as solvent of injectable medicines an the sixth group was the control group and did not receive any drug. The method of injection was Intra peritoneal (IP) form. Statistical diagrams and results showed a significant decreasing of anesthetic induction time and increasing of sleeping time of Ketamin induced anesthesia, after IP injection of the Polar fraction extract of Humulus lupulus. The results obtained showed that the polar-fraction extract of Humulus lupulus has more sufficient sedative effects than diazepam and other under studied groups.

Tilia platyphyllos scop belongs to the Tiliaceae family and mainly grows in northern parts of the country. It has various pharmacological effects including anxiolytic, antibacterial, anticonvulsant, spasmolytic, tranquilization and sedation, hypnotic and muscular relaxation. In order to study sedative, preanaesthetic and anxiolytic effects herbal extract of Tiliaplatyphyllos scop in comparison with diazepam in different groups of female Wistar rats with the same age and weight, doses of 150 mg/kg, 300 mg/kg and 450 mg/kg of herbal extract, 1.2 mg/kg of diazepam and equal volumes of dimethyl sulfoxide as a placebo were injected to rats intraperitoneally 30 minutes prior to evaluation of sedative and preanaesthetic effects (induced sleep duration following 40 mg/kg administration intraperitoneally) and anxiolytic effects (using elevated plus maze and Rotarod test). Background: Due to sedation, anticonvulsant and anti-pain effects, Nardostachys jatamansi has had a special place in traditional medicine of China, India and Iran. Regarding Alkaloid, Organic acid esters, valeric acid and isovalerates this plant has always been used to reduce nervous pressure and the treatment depression and chronic insomnia. Objective: Considering the importance of sedative and anxiolytic effects of this plantchr('39')s we decided to have a comparative study of this plant with chemical drugs. Methods: In this study, first, the rhizome of N. jatamansi was extracted by hydromethanolic (70%) solvent and then, the presence of valporoates, in total extract was revealed by GC-MS analysis of its n-Hexane fraction. For studying the effectiveness of sedative and anxiolytic of N. jatamansi in compraison with diazepam different groups of female wistar rats received N. jatamansi (100, 200, 400 mg/kg, ip), diazepam (1.2 mg/kg, ip), di-metyl solphoxid (DMSO) with equal volume, and 15 min after assessing the relif/sleep inducing effect (induced sleep duration by ketamine, 40 mg/kg, ip) and anxiolytic effects (using Elevated plus were done). Results: The GC-MS analysis of the n-hexan fraction of extract led to identification and quantification of fifteen compounds, the main components were a - Aristolen-1-alpha-ol (31.1%), valerenal (31%) and valerenic acid (26.5%). Pharmacological results showed that herbal extract of N. jatamansi with the maximum inhibition was observed at the does of 200 mg/kg of sedative and anxiolytic effect. Conclusion: Obtained resultes indicated that extract of N. jatamansi gives sedative and anxiolytic effects.
